In an off-season that watched the Helsinki Titans bring in elite scoring threats Damon Tyrael and Willem Janssen, along with projected top flight talent Oskars Harumpf and Ryan Cattrall, the focus has been on another prospect. No we aren't talking about the S39 first overall pick, James Faraday who is slated to make his rookie debut... we are talking about another rookie.
 
King Czar III made waves in Helsinki training camp as the 18 year old absolutely proved himself to coaches. This was a pick in the 3rd round, who has developed into a starting VHL defenseman in the course of a week. Czar has made VHL history being the first ever 3rd round pick to start for a VHL team due to the 175 TPE cap rule. Titans scouts had no idea what they had when they called this monster's name at the draft... Looks like the youngster is making quite a name for himself.
 
"Czar is ready for the VHL, and we aren't going to deny him the playing time he's earned. I was a VHLM GM for many seasons, so I know the importance of developing in the minors. Czar has proven that he wants to be in the big leagues, and we believe that him being on one of the top defenses in the league will greatly benefit his development. This was something we did not take into account at the start of the season, and even end of the draft. A pleasant surprise is an understatement."

After six seasons in Vasteras, Dutch forward Willem Janssen has been traded to the Helsinki TItans. Janssen was drafted second overall by the Iron Eagles in Season 34 and had been the team's captain ever since. Only recently has he proven himself to be one of the league's premier offensive talents with three straight seasons with at least 100 points, as well as two consecutive 50-goal seasons. In a time when the Iron Eagles have caught constant criticism, Janssen has been loyal to the franchise. However, with Vasteras looking to enter a rebuild, Janssen was a player that could bring a lot of value on the trade market.

"I was hoping to spend my entire career in Vasteras," said Janssen on the trade, "but I knew they'd would have to rebuild at some point and I didn't want to hold the teamback. I wish Vasteras the best of luck in the future, and I'm confident that they'll be in good hands with the current front office. I think Helsinki is the perfect fit for me and while it hurts to leave, I'm really happy to join the Titans. I've talked with a lot of my teammates and coaches already and I love the atmosphere here. I want to win a cup before the end of my career, and I think Helsinki is one of the best places to do that."

First one I made today, second is an adjustment of an old sig.  Kinda weird to make two sigs in a day for my own player but hey, I was bored.

I'd like to welcome Willem Janssen [Lightning25 aka Solas] to the Helsinki Titans. Great member, and great player in the sim. Should help with our lack of scoring.

It's tough to leave Vasteras. Ultimately I was hoping to win a cup (and possibly set a VHL record by being the captain for all 8 seasons), but I knew that I would probably be traded at some point, and Helsinki is honestly the best fit. Boubabi impressed me last season and I think he'll be able to make Vasteras (or whatever the new team will be called) into a contender pretty quickly. I like the group of young players that STZ's assembled and I'm happy to join the team.
