The Music of the VHL By A. Simon-Cowell-Type Part 3 Welcome back to another edition of The Music of the VHL! We are excited to continue the series, this week’s team is from one of the newest teams on the block - let’s head to Prague. Prague Phantoms @diamond_ace Heart of Stone, The Prostitutes This week we are taking a look at the first of two expansion teams this season, the Prague Phantoms. Currently sitting at the bottom of the league (though only by one point behind fellow expansion team DC Dragons), the Phantoms (and DC) have been victims of a rough expansion lottery, and are struggling as was expected. To represent the hardship they are facing, we have gone with Indie/Post-Punk rockers “The Prostitutes.” Hailing from Prague, the attitude presented in this song cuts clear to the Phantoms plight. When they look in the mirror, they don’t see the team they want to be. They need to cut clean, keep pushing through to greener pastures, and stay positive, though it is a long road ahead. Anything you’d like to say to that? 2) Do you think we will maintain first position, or will it slip? 3) Who do you think our biggest challengers are? Vegas, in second place, or someone else? 4) What kind of pasta is your favorite kind? 5) We are currently leading the league in goal differential. Is that thanks to our defense, or offense? 6) We’ve lost 3 games in OT so far. What can we do to close those tight games out? 7) Both the Reapers and the Lynx, the other two of the top three from last season, are in the bottom four. What do you think we’ve done differently to be able to stay at the top of the league? 8) Right now we have no players in the top 7 for points, but 6 out of the next 7. What do you think that says about our team? 9) Right now we have arguably the best goalie in the league in Ligriv, leading in save percentage, although trailing Sean McGee in GAA. How does having such a strong presence back in the net make you feel? 10) Halifax has scored 69 goals and let in 69 goals. Thoughts?

This week we are taking a look at an up and coming team that is seeking to improve on some poor performances and return to form. Let’s take a trip to the Big Apple. New York Americans Empire State of Mind, Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys I’ve been expecting this to be quite possibly the most difficult team to choose a song. New York is an iconic location, and filled with a plethora of music to fit such a culturally diverse and significant location. We’ve decided to go with a song that embodies hope while not forgetting one’s roots. New York is still obviously a huge destination and location for players; you only need to look at the last draft to see how many big prospects were excited to head to the city. Without a doubt, they have a lot to do still, but in a few seasons, expect to see them challenging. This young American’s team has some serious potential, so keep an eye out. Also, expansion teams got (IMO) kinda screwed with their draft place. Like seriously, a team that literally has zero players or a bunch of surplus players from expansion draft has to draft after the champion? So it makes sense they have even less options. Not only did they have worse picks this year, but there was less incentive for other teams to try and grab their picks this year in exchange for more picks/players

Review: I feel like the graphic would look a lot better if the background had more going on than just black. It makes it kinda look more or less like 3 copied and pasted images, and I feel like a little work on the background could make the whole thing feel a lot more cohesive.

Review: Hey there! Great work. I love how the background kinda blends into the gunmetal color, gives it a really vintage vibe, which works well with the flame effects going on in the foreground. I could be viewing it weird, but it looks like its maybe a little off center? Idk, but good stuff!

Review: Hey boss! Like the work here. You're right, it's much better in Imgur rather than preview. The neon effect on the words look great! Only thing that is a little strange is the words on the player's shirt, I assume you flipped the image; it's not too bad, but a little immersion breaking. Good stuff!

Review: I love this graphic! Really cool effect on the text of "Moon," love the paint splatters. Super clean render, blurred in all the right places but clear where it looks good. Great job I wish I could do this haha.

Review: I like how the render looks, and I really like the background with the color scheme. I just feel like the placement of the player is maybe a little too central? Alternatively, the background's transition from grey to color is a little jarring. Maybe it would look better with the background being completely colored? Great work regardless!

Review: I love the color scheme in this graphic. Really clean rendering of the helmet on Micheal Scott, looks super believable. The "Micheal Gary" part of the text is a little hard to read/blurry, but that could be the way it's hosted. Great work!

Review: I love how vintage this graphic looks. Good job interpolating the SDM logo behind the hands but over the shirt. It might help it look more real if it was altered slightly, rather than just pasted on the shirt, but the layer mask looks clean.

The way you did "Bernard" looks really cool, and I love the zoom-in effect you did. Color scheme is awesome. The only small critique I would have is that the "ottawa lynx" part is a little hard to read, since its often white on white. Great work!
