Garsh reacted to hylands in The Jebediah Big Ol Doinks in Amish Saga
Jebediah Big Ol Doinks in Amish - Defenceman
Island Living
Born on the small island of Saint Lucia, Jebediah Big Ol Doinks in Amish became perhaps the first kid ever from the nation to fall in love with the game of hockey. Cricket and football are by far the most popular sports among the youth there, but Jebediah was unlike anyone else. His family had gone on vacation to Canada when he was just five years old and went to see a VHL game and he instantly fell in love with the fast paced, action packed sport. He begged his parents to buy him all of the equipment he needed to play himself, but he was from Saint Lucia! Hockey was among the least popular sports in the entire country, there's no way he would be able to get what he needed to play. Shortly after returning from that vacation, however, Jebediah would receive some of the best news he could possibly wish for. His dad had accepted a new job offer to go work at a company that is based in Canada! Before the family was even settled in their new home, Jebediah was constantly bugging his parents to sign him up for hockey. Finally, after what seemed like forever in Jebediah's eyes (it was actually only two weeks), his parents gave in and signed him up to play in the next season.
The Doink Wars
It didn't take long to realize that Jeb was a natural born hockey player. He took to the ice like he was born with skates on his feet, and was miles ahead of anybody else his age. By the time he was 8 years old, he was playing against kids two to three years older, and still managed to dominate every step of the way. He was bigger, he was faster, and he faced almost no challenge his entire minor league career. He quickly developed into a very skilled offensive defenceman that was no slouch on the defensive side either. It was clear to see that if Jebediah really wanted to, he would be destined for a spot in the VHL. But with the lack of a real challenge, a little bit of complacency started to creep in for the elite level defenceman. This is when Jebediah formed a deep love for big ol doinks. Every day he would smoke big doinks, go to the hockey rink, and still be the obvious best player on the ice. It was like living in a dream for Jebediah. His work ethic dropped to an all time low, but his performance was never hindered. Jeb knew he was a lock to be drafted into the OHL. Then the draft came around, and he kept falling, and falling, and falling, only to go undrafted and be left devastated at what just happened to him. What was he going to do? His whole life had led up to this day, but it all came crumbling down around him.
Revenge of the Doinks
Jebediah immediately packed his bags and returned back to his native country of Saint Lucia. He swore to never again wear a pair of skates, and instead he did what he knew best. He smoked big doinks. The days flew by one after another. Big doink after big doink. Before he knew it, years had passed and he was slowly wasting away. Nobody knows how it happened, not even Jeb himself, but one day he woke up with the passion renewed. He was determined to prove all of the doubters wrong. He wanted to prove that you could smoke big doinks and have a successful hockey career! It wasn't long before Jeb had made his way back to Canada, put the skates back on, and started preparing for a triumphant return. It was like he had never even stopped playing. Jebediah immediately felt right at home, and was positive he was ready to make the leap.
A New Doinks
Being out of the game for so long left Jebediah in a bit of a limbo, he was too old to join any junior programs and had to sell himself as a player worthy of earning a place on a VHLM team. He went from city to city, pitching himself to any team that would listen, and attending open practices whenever he could. Jeb did his best to convince the scouts that he could still perform at the levels he did in minor hockey, but he was not sure anybody would believe him. Surprisingly, there was some interest shown, and that was all Jeb needed to confirm this was what he wanted to do. He had missed the draft, but Jebediah entered the league through the waiver program, and he settled upon Houston as his new home. The team looked solid, there was a spot for Jeb to fill, and there was plenty of talent to surround himself with to sharpen up his game. It is now up to Jebediah Big Ol Doinks in Amish to prove his worth, and show the world what he has always been capable of.

Garsh got a reaction from Ricer13 in Calgary Wranglers press conference
1. How are you feeling about your players start to the season?
Not great, I was hoping I would jump out of the gate strong like I did last season, but that is not the case.
2. Would you consider yourself an active teammate or a quiet one?
I think my activity level in a LR is reflective of how active the LR is, the more that is going on the more I end up talking.
3. Calgary is off to their usual slow start, what could the GM do differently to help prevent these from happening?
I duno, its hard because line chemistry is a very real thing, and its hard to tell what is going to work when things change every season.
4. This will be Daniel Jansers final season. What’s the over/under of him getting 90 points?
I think he will for sure get 90 points.
5. The Vegas Golden Knights have won the Stanley Cup, How do you feel about that?
I have no real opinion on it. Its cool to see a fairly new franchise win the cup. Canucks fans in absolute shambles.
6. Our AGM Otis just got home from Ireland. If you could go anywhere in the world right now for 7 days, where are you going?
I'm honestly not a big traveler, just somewhere peaceful but with internet access I guess.

Garsh reacted to jacobcarson877 in What it means to have your Father in the VHL with you.
What does it mean to have your father in the VHL with you?
Here’s a few bullet points.
Having to explain really strange internet slang. Listening to him complain about bad moves his GM makes. Listening to him complain about there not being a press conference yet. Getting asked “Did you read my article or just react to it?”, twice a week. (It’s about 50/50) Listening to him complain about not scoring. Listening to him complain about how slow his VHFL group is. Listening to him complain about the draft commentary. Trying to explain that some people are just off putting, they’re not trying to be mean. Having someone to make fun of when my player is doing better than his. Getting to ask “Are you at 500TPE yet?” for many months because I wanted my recruitment TPE. Having someone to complain about all league related things to. Forgetting to speak to my mother on long car trips as we debate the VHLE. (Sorry mom)
And most importantly
Having your father experiencing the VHL with you.
Happy Father’s Day! (to all the VHL dads, but specifically mine)

Garsh reacted to hylands in a new adventure for jebediah big ol doinks in amish
on the island of saint lucia, after a hard day of smoking loud, star hockey player jebediah big ol doinks in amish made the decision to take his talents to the big city of houston. however, this decision didn't come easy for jebediah. there were many questions to be asked first. questions like, will there be any big ol doinks for him to smoke in houston? how will he get his loud? when it's nice out will anyone ever hit his line? despite all of these burning questions, the temptation of making it big in the vhl was just too much for him to pass up.
"im pretty excited to see what kind of loud they have in houston, i've heard lots of good things about this city."
jebediah has never been one to put in the most amount of effort in practice or eat healthy to keep up with his fitness, and he arrives in houston with only his equipment and big ol doinks. it will be a big step up for him, but he is confident in his abilities. the team is looking great on paper and the entire roster is looking forward to what this season will have in store for them.
