  1. I think the best goalie in the league may or may not have won his first Vezina Trophy on Monday night
  2. Starting to age, he won't have the fall off a cliff kind production stoppage but just the slow, inevitable decline in production. Still love Wheels though.
  3. Weird way to spell Patrik Laine, Scheifele, Connor, Ehlers and Morrissey but okay.
  4. You got me up to a +3 for a little bit
  5. Sorry @JigglyGumballs
  6. Patrik Laine (pictured above) during a game against the Malmo Nighthawks. HELSINKI - The Helsinki Titans have had a slow start to the season. They currently stand with a 7-5-0 record, tied with Moscow for 4th place in the European Conference. Part of the reason for Helsinki's early season struggles has been the play of rookie Patrik Laine. Laine, who was drafted 9th Overall by Helsinki in the S73 VHL Entry Draft has only 1 goal and 5 points through 12 games. Laine says it isn't worrying him too much. "I knew this would happen. It was like my first year in Houston in the VHLM. I wasn't scoring right away, just the odd time as I was adjusting to the league. The second half of the season is when the scoring came. 5 points in 12 games is still good for me, I've been good defensively and I just gotta stay with it and play my game." Laine praised his team for a great welcome and start to the season despite his early struggles. "Yeah, the boys welcomed me into the locker room with open arms. They could tell I was beginning to get frustrated the past few games and I went and had a talk with Summers and he told me I just gotta stay with. I also had an insightful conversation with Jubo about how rookies take a bit to adjust and it brought my focus right back into my strengths. I'm super glad I have such a good team around me. Not just in on-ice ability but also off the ice and in the front office." 258 Words
  7. Patrik Laine will now step up to the mic to answer questions. 1) It's been a slow start for me, certainly not where we want to be but we'll play good down the stretch 2) We need to play better defensively 3) Dallas in 6 4) Summers. He deserves it after everything he has done 5) Several strong players, builds a better team. 6) I wouldn't get anyone to cover for me, I would go tell the coach I was late and accept the punishment. I'm not a liar.
  8. 500 REPUTATION POINTS (and 200 content count for that matter). Hard to believe I did this in just under 3 months. I want to thank everyone who has read my articles and looked at my graphics. I hope I am a part of the VHL community for many years to come!

  9. Very well written article. Good job bringing out the emotions of your player and analyzing. Excited to see you in Helsinki next season! 9/10
  10. Interesting turn of events happening in Malmo judging by this article. This article is extremely well written and it helps build some character within your player. Hopefully, Walker stays in Malmo. 9.5/10
  11. Claiming for the first time (week of 9/20)
  12. Helsinki, Finland - The S74 VHL Season is upon us. Teams are preparing for the first games to begin today. There are a lot of teams that have a lot to be excited about heading into this season, but no team comes close to the excitement that Helsinki Titans fans are feeling right now. Stepping into the lineup this season is RW Patrik Laine. He was chosen 9th overall in the S73 VHL Draft by the Helsinki Titans. Despite Laine's talents, many downplayed the pick and said Helsinki reached too far. Well, it has paid off in spades so far for the Titans. Laine spent last season down in the VHLM, leading the Miami Marauders to a conference championship and fell just 3 games shy of a Founder's Cup victory. Laine tells us that he hopes to become one of the best two-way players in the league. "I know this is just the beginning of my VHL career, but to play for a franchise like Helsinki that I grew up watching, it feels surreal almost. I want to become one of the league's best players, not just as a goal scorer, but as a 200-foot player as well. I have a lot of good teammates surrounding me like Summers, Vaak and Spaz that will help me adjust to the game this season and I can't wait to get underway." Laine talked about his expectations heading into his rookie season as well as Helsinki's expectations heading into this season. "As far as team expectations go, anything less than a return to the Continental Cup Finals is considered a failure. The boys worked hard to get there last year and I think I'm part of the puzzle that can get them over the hump. As for my expectations as a player, we'll see. I hope I can hit at least 20-30 goals this year and put up solid point totals. Also playing well in my own end and on the power play can help me earn more responsibilities on the ice so it will be fun to see how things go for both me and the team this year." Laine has 2 years left on his entry-level contract he signed. We asked him if he his pondering his future and if he thinks about fleeing Helsinki in free agency. "Are you out of your fucking mind? Why would you even ask that? I have 2 years left on this deal and I still have to play good for the team and for myself so that is my main focus right now. As for talk about Helsinki, I really love the city and the people. It is just 2 hours away from my hometown of Tampere, Finland. My family and friends can come watch me play every night and it will be a blast, so I hope I stay for a while." Laine and the Titans begin their quest for the Continental Cup on Thursday Night with a string of back to back games on primetime television. (503 words, 2598 characters)

  14. Well you need a way to make side money so...it will be your club.
  15. Patrik Laine (pictured) training at his home in Tampere during the offseason. He hosted a training camp with other young VHL stars attending. HELSINKI - No one in the VHL may be more excited for Season 74 to begin than Patrik Laine of the Helsinki Titans. The 18 year old Finnish phenom will start his rookie season on Thursday night. "You know, I never thought growing up that I would play in the VHL, let alone for my favourite team growing up. Truly a once in a life time opportunity and excited to get to work." We talked to Laine about the offseason and he opened up about what he did. "I hosted a camp with just me and about 11 other players. We had some fun and played some round robin games. Drafted teams and all that. It was a blast and it kept us all in shape." Laine also opened up about some of his personal relationships off the ice. "You know, I really developed some of my personal relationships off the ice this offseason. Of course, my best buddies are Jiggs, Minner and Rose. However, the main relationship I grew off the ice was with Venus Thightrap of the Vancouver Wolves. We talked a lot and found out we had a lot in common so it will be fun to play against her next year. I hope at some point in my career, we can play on a team together in the VHL. That offseason helped strengthen not just our relationship but our playing ability. We had a lot of fun along the way too. Hoping to strengthen my relationship with her further last season. Laine told us about the rosters and the players who attended the camp. "We had a mix of up and coming talents and some VHL players. We had Emi Rune, Venus Thightrap, Jiggly Gumballs, Drew Minott, Aloe Dear and me on one team and Bacon, James Rose, Riley Knight Gee, Isabella Campbell, Dakota Lamb and Jeffrenomitsu the Third on the other side. We all stayed at my place and had some summer fun. Most importantly though, we improved our hockey skills. It was a blast for 2 months and we are all ready to go now. Laine and the Helsinki Titans begin regular season play on Thursday.
  16. I'm also applying, I'll give it a shot.
  17. Jiggs hit 250 +4
  18. #MakeCowAnUpdaterBecauseHeWillDoItForFree
  19. 1) My defense and puck handling. Turned the puck over waaay too much last year. 2) His all around game and leadership. A great leader who sets by example. 3) It's great, nice young tandem in him and Harvey sets us with a solid 1-2 punch in net. 4) Biggest strength has to be my scoring touch. 5) Riga, they are still very strong. 6) 260
