  1. I have a really hard time on pulling suggestions smh. 1. HoF system, making tier 1; tier 2 HoF player section, e.t.c. A little cosmetic thing which may make this feature more entertaining for a second. SBA already has it and I like this and I think @solas also expressed a pleasure about it there. The only problem it's not really possible to do lower sections like role players and things as S1-18 indexes are gone. 2. Continuing @Tyler's idea about forum activity. Since nobody wants to do that for idk what reason, let's have more TPE oportunities from predictions, forum games (like ''guess who'' or ''guess member's favorite song'' e.t.c. things) for points cause nobody gonna do that for free I guess. And I think we already had NHL predictions for TPE like a year ago so why not to do similar now? Might even hire a guy who will moderate these things for TPE, idk. Anyway, it's up to each member. 3. I guess the future recruitment crew already knows where to post the VHL link, but by God, we need more student-age people or even younger who are still sitting a lot at the PC. I swear at least a half of the VHL public are already a grown mans with kids and this site is like a 10th-tier priority for them. We need more ''hungry'' people here. that was a suggestion to the recruitment crew, but maybe they already know what to do. 4. Make regression harhser. Like 3% in a first depreciation season? it's weak imo. It almost does nothing to welfare members, not even talking about TPE whores or just members who are doing PT's. That's if you want to see a difference between PT member players and welfare players at the late stage of the career. 5. Stealing @Beketov's idea or whoever came with an idea of making a VHL Twitch channel to try recruiting people from there. I mean I can't make video's and live streams and things, but it's not like I'm the only member here. *COUGH COUGH* for TPE, of course, because who even wants to do something for free, right? 6. Team PT's, bring them back. This applies to both leagues, but to VHLM in particular. 7. Bonus 3 TPE for the media spot once-twice a season. Mock drafts, the World Cup e.t.c. We already had mock drafts in for the S54 draft and that got the activity up, so bring them back too. 8. I might be wrong, but @Devise said we used to have a BoG report to members or something like that? Might be interesting to have this too for having more transparency. I'm done here. Most of my suggestions are minor ones, maybe expect of the depreciation point.
  2. Super late here, but hahahahaaa @Italy. Old man's tactics didn't work against SWE who are benefiting from not having Ibra. Dis FIFA rankings again. Peru #10, Poland #6 wtf. btw I'm sorry, but HAHAHAAAAAA....I mean, most Kosovo players are playing in decent leagues, but this is hilarious.
  3. You know what's even more rude? John Locke breaking your GWG record.
  4. Also, no Continental Cup for your team too.
  5. Uhmm, did you know your team isn't winning a Victory Cup this season?
  6. I guess, no Hedgehog Campbell will be created. @Banackock
  7. We have no Calgary anymore btw.
  8. Here, unless the blue team changed things.
  9. I think you can do it to for S60.
  10. It still was better than what did Anderson. @Will's second player still probably had some promise at that time. Well, not now.
  11. He never was very active btw. That's more like VHLM style where you need to make a member happy for keeping him in this league. I still think you should have waited more and wait for Frank's reaction and then make a trade that you actually did, if there was absolutely no chance for getting useful picks. Anyway, good for Davos they managed to compete soon and only an incident didn't allow them to have a dynasty, so oh well.
  12. *I just made a bad trade.* A long time ago when I just became a Riga GM, I made this thread where VHL members were naming some bad trades that general managers were making. That thread came thanks to the infamous trade between Calgary and Helsinki. And what made me to do this thread? I guess nothing, I just was searching for more easy way how to make 24 TPE, nothing more. This thread is about bad or unlucky trades that happened since S50 (the off-season prior to that season isn't included in this article). By the way, this is only my opinion so if you feel offended by this thread, I don't care then. QUE/SEA; S51 off-season To - Thor Odinsson To - S52 COL 1st (Edwin Threencarnation) S53 SEA 1st (Astrid Moon) S53 SEA 2nd (Beaver Beaverton) Bubba Nuck BOOM HEADSHOT! This old meme perfectly describes what @BOOM pulled on December 21, 2016, but let's start from S51 when Seattle put up a good fight against Toronto in NA semi finals. The Bears lost that series, but the future was pretty bright with Podarok, Holik, Wolf, Petenis and Rodriguez. However, that wasn't enough to make a contender so this trade wasn't a surprise - maybe it was somewhat steep, but at the end Seattle got a talented and fast rising forward in Odinsson. So things were looking good for the Bears in S52...until Boom retired Thor. Before that, he was giving multiple hints in Seattle LR that he could retire, but I thought he isn't serious about that. But he did and that's the moment when everything fell apart for this team. This is a typical ''what could've been'' situation: they also lost Podarok in following season. Also, this trade is definitely unlucky (not bad) for @Banackock - at that time the trade was looking fine for both sides, but at the end, Seattle paid two valuable players + a decent bottom six player for a one-season wonder. And by valuable players I didn't mean only both goalies - the S52-54 drafts were pretty good, so these could've been different players too. STO/QUE; S52 off-season To : S53 - Xander Finn - D S54 COL 1st Round Pick (Vernon von Axelberry) To : S53 - John Locke - LW S53 - SkateFast McChunky - RW Adwyer almost killed Quebec. After sitting at the bottom of the NA conference for 2 seasons, Quebec was ready to make a splash. They decided to draft Xander Finn to bolster their defensive line with Jokinen, but soon he was traded to Stockholm as well as the S54 6th pick for two fellow draftees in Locke and Chunky. And like the aforementioned trade, this one was looking reasonable too - an active at that time Finn and a valuable pick vs an active commish (at that time, again) and a TPE whore (AT THAT TIME) in @FacePuncher. The things were looking good for the Wolfpack, well...until Adwyer decided that fuck everything and left the VHL with retiring both his players. After that, this trade become a win for Stockholm: basically, Quebec overpaid for a commish player who soon stopped to earn any TPE. Which makes it easier for Quebec is that Finn a.k.a. @Jericho went inactive with leaving just an okay player for the VHL and Locke is a pure raw scoring machine even with his 447 TPE who helped his team to earn the first Continental Cup since S35. But still, it's an overpayment for one player. Also, this is an unlucky trade for @Frank. QUE/DAV; S52 off-season To : Apollo Skye To : S53 Tor 2nd (Marty McDouglas) S53 Sea 2nd (Beaver Beaverton) Was this even that bad? I'm sorry @Gooningitup, but I still think that Frank should've paid more. @Tagger made valid counter arguments against my opinion in my aforementioned thread: every contending team but Quebec already had a goalie and Skye's contract was expiring by that time. However, there is one thing that makes this trade a win for Quebec: @Velevra is an extremely loyal member who already showed that when he never left Stockholm with von Karma until he was traded to Quebec in his last career season. So there were absolutely no chances he would have said no to Frank. I think Goon needed to pull this fact to the Wolfpack's GM and try to get some more useful picks. At the end, Davos only got two useless fillers for a future MVP even if his contract was over. I think this trade is hard to judge, but I still don't fell right about it. CGY/HSK; S52 off-season To : Theo Axelsson Black Velvet S54 CGY 1st (Torstein Ironside) To : Jacob THAT TRADE WON HELSINKI TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! And here's our infamous trade I was talking about. Just look at that, three valuable players in exchange of a promising goalie. At the first glance, this is a horrible trade for Calgary, but we need to take into account that Velvet's contract expired in after S52 and I think @Higgins wouldn't re-signed with the Wranglers anyway. But still, two valuable players vs a promising goalie in Jacob...it doesn't makes things much better. @Kesler tried to convince us that the S54 draft was nothing special and there were only two good goalies: Ironside and King. The hard truth was that draft was very good by VHL standarts and what's more ironic, King fell out to the 9th pick which was owned...by Calgary. So no matter what, this trade was bad for Calgary and Kesler shouldn't paid an extra first to Helsinki. RIG/SEA; S53 off-season To : S54 RIG 1st (Aleksei Fedorov) To : Guntis Petenis Rebuild...or compete...what the fuck is going on? This trade was under discussion way before the off-season happened. Shortly after Podarok retired, Banackock decided that it makes no sense to make another try in S54 and he would much rather have some picks. Why that trade wasn't good for Riga? Well, first of all the Reign was supposed to rebuild and not bringing some S50 sub-500 TPE defenseman who had a mediocre build by that time. And how about trading a sub-500 TPE player for a much younger and active def in Fedorov? So if we take away that surprising performance from Guntis and three very prestigue awards, this trade wasn't the best choice for my team. Not horrible, but not good either. It just brought some fun for me, but I'm not sure if I had a chance to make a contender by S56 if not one lucky trade (I'll mention about this later) and a steal in Slava Aleksei. CGY/COL; S54 off-season To : S55 COL 1st (Felix Savard) To: S55 NYA 1st (Xavier Laflamme) S56 CGY 1st (Matthieu Bourdon) Getting multiple bottom five first round picks tactic doesn't always help. I guess this was the exact tactic from now ex-banned-GM @Gudnason and while he wasn't very wrong in this one, but giving up the first pick for that? That was a no-no for Cologne. I mean. both Laflamme and Bourdon are somewhat decent depth players, but one Felix Savard is much better than these two combined and the fact that Punk gave up the first pick for two much lower ones makes this trade a dubious for the Express. RIG/COL; S55 To : Markus King To : S56 QUE 1st (Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVIII) S56 SEA 2nd (Augustus Gloop) Sometimes I win too. I already mentioned this trade in another article when I was analysing the RIG/SEA trade. All things started when @Kendrick showed his displeasure about Punk's job and the things were only worse when Cologne's GM decided to bring von Axelberry via trade. I was hesitant to pull the trade when he made an offer for the first time, but after the draft I realized this is my chance to make my rebuild much easier for a cheap price. So I PM'ed Punk once again and he had two option for me: giving up a RIG 1st and a lower second round pick or lower first-higher second picks. Well, the answer was obvious - I gave up another inactive Feinstein's player and a semi-active at best Evryday for a stud goalie who helped and still helps us on chansing the Continental Cup. So yes, another bad trade for the German team. RIG/HEL; S55 off-season To : S57 HSK 1st (Jeff Gow) To : Rudi Ying Sometimes the risk doesn't pays off. Rudi Ying was supposed to be the Reign's franchise player, but all things went wrong from the start. He decided to sign only a one-season contract and his LR presence wasn't the best either - a trolling job about ''maybe I will leave the team! or not?'' didn't make things more comfortable for me. I still was trying to re-sign Rudi, but then mentioned about an interest from Higgins - I assume he knew about some problems in Riga and that Punk doesn't gets along with Kendrick so he made me know he's ready to take a chance on the Chinese center. Hippie also agreed to change the location and then this trade happened. At the end, this trade doesn't looks very good for Helsinki - a bottom six forward for two seasons in exchange of more safe pick and more promising pick in Jeff Gow. It doesn't means this trade was bad for Higgins: he just took a risk and it didn't really pay off. HEL/COL; S55 off-season To : S56 COL 1st (Ay Ay Ron) To S56 HSK 1st (Mr.Shakedown) S57 DAV 1st (Ko Kane) S58 HSK 1st (7th pick at most in a mediocre draft) Remember? A lottery pick > multiple low firsts. That is why Cologne had a problem with the rebuild. Punk once again followed his tactic and once again he failed. Just look at that: a TPE whore @boubabi vs an inactive Jericho's second player a good S57 draftee and some of 7th, 9th or 10th pick in the S58 draft. And as I said earlier, the S58 draft is about to be medicore, without a really interesting draftee at the 7th-10th pick range. Yes, the 9th pick in the last draft could have brought a good young player to the Express, but that is not enough to salvage the S56 second pick. It basically gave Helsinki another valuable and young player to prolong their contending period for one good draftee. Not good for Cologne. And yes, I know @ADV turned that pick into Shawn Brodeur, but that came from new GM. And one more thing - this is another trade that wasn't horrible, just dubious. STO/DAV; S55 off-season To : mist4ke To : Rhett DeGrath Read the rule first... At the first glance, this trade is weird and unnecessary for Stockholm. Like, trading a MVP goalie for just an okay mist4ke who only had one good season in a rebuilding Seattle so far. However, this was supposed to be a part 1 of this trade: @Smarch promissed to @Bushito that the later GM will also get a Davos S59 1st pick which made it a ''future consideration'' trade (or multi-part). The problem was that Smarch left the VHL in midway of the S56, but even the bigger problem was this type of trade wasn't and still isn't allowed in this league. The new Davos GM @Tyler didn't know that and actually gave his S59 first, like Smarch said he was going to do, but the league management put a stop hammer on this trade simply because it isn't allowed. So basically Stockholm's GM tradeed an MVP goalie for an okay goalie (like I said earlier) who already was on his prime. Perhaps Bushito didn't know about the multi-part trade rule, but at the end mist4ke didn't even become a Stockholm's goalie as he wasn't even needed during this team's rebuild period. A misstep by Bushito here. I'll finish with this trade as I will hit 2000 words soon and I think there's no bad or unlucky trade took place after the last mentioned. Do you disagree with me and you think these trades weren't bad at all? As I said, this is only my opinion so I don't care. As long as I'm getting 24 total TPE, I'm fine. That's it and I'm out. 6x4=24 TPE goes to Krīgars.
  13. REVIEW: I had some panic moments during my GM'ing, especially when I started this. But that was about trades, not blowing up a team without a reason. Yeah, like trading Zeptenbergs to Cologne and putting an end to my ASG dreams. Who then won a cup for your ex-team in S56. Mentor won. An interesting idea to use some bars for your media spot. I think the last person who did similar, was @Higgins with Velvet when he was playing for Toronto? Anyway, I don't think I could pull this thing despite listening a lot of rap songs, maybe because I'm too lazy to think about it.
  14. REVIEW Oh well, good ol' VHLM with all these problems. Well, good to see new members who doesn't want to cut the minors off, like some others want. @KGR's suggestion about 150 TPE carryover could help that as it allows the older members to pass the minors. The team task at the end of the season might be even better. The VHL had kind of these tasks in S40(?) so it could be interesting to see them in the VHLM. Unless you meant exactly what I just wrote here...
  15. REVIEW: I already said it all in Street's article, but I also need to mention Skye once again, he's a legit goalie. Still fighting for the MVP and best goalie awards even though he's already on second stage of regression and he's not even a TPE whore. Good to have a goalie like this in your team. Like I said earlier in aforementioned thread, I agree with this. This team could dethrone Canada in the next event. Good luck on doing that unless you're playing the Team World.
  16. REVIEW: It's not a common case when a member returns and does not retires his 30-40 TPE player and continues to work with him instead even if he will be a forever VHLM player. It reminds of...uhmm...myself But hey, still waiting for your full comeback with a new player. And yes, one more comment in your article, I'll wait for your ''like'' now. @diamond_ace
  17. REVIEW: The Team World never was so close to medals since my experiment with Holik and now USA ruined our chances in the recent event. So fuck USA team. Locke performed very well in playoffs btw, he already was warming up before doing damage in Riga. And these ''not a quality first line centers'' also did well so I guess this team will be even better by the next World Cup. But still, fuck Team USA. @Strtlght
  18. REVIEW: I keep forgeting about adding someone into Riga HoF all the time. I won't be surprised I'll forget soon after I reviewed this lol. Well, this is not the most successful start for Jeff so I guess you'll get your awards later when Davos competes. It takes some patience though, starting from S59 is the best scenario for Davos now. And good to see that you're ready to be loyal, Davos suffered a lot in last 10+ seasons so your player is an important piece here.
  19. REVIEW: And then the S57 came...I assume you won't be happy in case of deja vu. I don't remember when and where, but someone called Bourdon an inactive. @Lunaro is quiet as fuck so nobody thinks he's active. Also, you did a good job on assembling a good offensive team. What could've been with a better goalie though. Good luck on surviving another deadly conference and maybe see ya in finals.
  20. REVIEEEEEEEW: So far Axelsson is indeed a playmaker. His shot % is nice, but he is hesitating on shooting so he has only 8 goals. Also, only 20 something minutes per game in Sasky, this is not fun lol. Anyway, good luck on creating a better player than Donovan was (who was actually meant to be a scoring first player, but collected more assists than goals. Maybe @Beketov was right here.) @Dangles13
