Anthony Suzuki got a reaction from hylands in VHL Daft Day!
Well here we are boys! Thank you to Moscow for drafting me!

For this week’s media spot, I wanted to tell my story heading into the VHL Entry Draft.

I was drafted 60th overall in the draft, so in the 4th round.

After my personally disappointing season with Ottawa I was still in the later rounds for the season 75 VHL Entry Draft.
It was the day of the Draft. Woke up and started with my usual routine. Get up, shave, shower. I usually take a cold shower because it wakes me straight up. Then I go for a good old homemade breakfast. Some eggs with a piece of toast. Not anything special. Then after that I went to go and continue my training, to get ready for next season. Did my usual training with my good NHL buddy Nick Suzuki. And no, we are not related at all, but I still consider him my good old brother. Working on getting bigger. I want to get more muscular masse so I can throw the body all the time and less chances of getting injuries. Then we got on the ice. I practiced as usual my shooting. My routine is sitting between the two faceoff dots and stand still. I have 4 pucks and I need to go 4 for 4, One on each corner. If I miss one, I restart all over again till I get them all. Next up, is my second drill. Nick just simply passes to me and I one time it on net. We have a practice goalie, so it is like a real game situation. And I did more drills, especially skating and puck handling. So, this was my routine and I have done a lot more to get better.

Got back home took a shower, ate lunch, and went to the tailor to pick up my suit. They had it all ready for me. Then I went to my parent’s house, and all my family members were there. It was a big surprise, and I was ecstatic and overwhelmed by the moment. I would like to thank my parent’s for being there the whole way, and I could not have done it without them.
I have had a lot of talks with several teams, so I had no idea where I would end up. Anyways, it was nighttime, and we drove to the arena we are the draft was located at. Met some guys during my time there, some old teammates and it was very welcoming for everyone, so thank you VHL for such a great night. All night I was waiting for my name to be called. It was just amazing seeing everyone drafted and the reaction they get. So, when I heard my name I was in shock. I good type of shock. I was so happy and jumped out of my seat and went to get that beautiful Moscow jersey over my suit.

There was my story of my Draft day. Hopefully I can make a huge impact when I get to the VHL, I can’t wait!

Absolutely loved reading this. I'm a first gen-player and when I got drafted last night to Toronto (29th overall) I was ecstatic. It was great reading about your daily routine and your nerves/excitement for draft day as I had the same! I thought your writing style was great, adding in some fresh ideas, and having your parents there as a whole must have been quite the feeling. Looking forward to reading more of your posts! 10/10

Well what a week it has been! First, thanks to everyone on both my VHL team, the Moscow Menace and my VHLM team the Mexico City Kings. Being drafted was just a fun experience, and if you wanted to know what happened during the week heading into the draft, I will post an article in not too long talking about it.

I will be working hard to get up in the big leagues, but for now I am focused on helping Moscow with whatever they need from me. Either scoring some goals which I have been working hard all off season or being a physical player. Whatever I can do, I am glad to be part of it!

It will take some time to get used to the new boys, but it is part of the game eh! New teammates are always fun to be around. Last thing I wanted to say is thank you to Ottawa for all you have done for me and all the fans who cheered me on all year. Good luck!

Wow! That is the first thing I wanted to tell you all.
Also, shoutout to Miami for winning the Founders Cup, congrats guys!
Just amazing. Our season (Ottawa Lynx) may have been cut short but that was an amazing first season.
Learned a lot of things. Met new people who are just all so kind.
Well let us now talk about the playoffs for the Ottawa Lynx. It was a fun experience, and I am so glad to be part of this special team. We may have not won the series, but we sure did open the eyes of all the haters that doubted us along the way. We surprised many. We were so close to winning that series and to move on to the second round but all I have retained from this experience is only positive.

I wanted to speak on my first ever playoff game in the VHLM. I was not too nervous but once the puck dropped, I knew this was not a child’s game. This is where the big boys come and play. Every shift I gave it my all. Every shift was just so rough on my body and that’s what you play for anyways! Putting my body out for my teammates and giving it my all and trying to get that big W for the boys. Game 1 against Yukon, second period, and there it is… I score my first ever VHLM goal ever and it comes in my first playoff game. That indeed took of the monkey of my back because I did not score a single goal the entire season. It was a struggle for me, but my teammates always believed in me and I want to thank them a lot for all the positive conversations we have had. So, thank you a lot boys you know who you are ?. We lost a heartbreaker in game 7. But for me personally I think I played a solid game during the whole series. So, I finished with 2 goals (who can believe it haha), one assist for 3 points. Finished with a +/- of -1, 8 shots on net, so over a shot per game which I need to do more. 10 penalty minutes, that is what caught my eye, I will admit I played very aggressive and that costed the team a bit with all the penalties, because during the season I found myself very disciplined with only 18 penalty minutes in 28 games. Ended up with 4 hits and 2 shots blocked. So, those we are my stats for my first ever playoff. May not be the best you have ever seen but for me it is a step in the right direction.

To finish of this article, I am very pumped to being drafted into a VHL team and continue my journey. I have gotten interest and that is just amazing! Very hyped at the draft and I will be wearing my lucky suit for that special night.

Very pumped for it. I have talked about it in my previous article, but I wanted to elaborate a bit on this subject. Being ranked 64th in the draft is not what I expected but honestly every week passes buy I don’t mind it. I was always underestimated from being in my high school team saying I am not good enough, to my college days saying you can only shoot that is all. To them I say, “Look we’re I am at now!”. This is my chance to prove myself once again to everyone doubting me. This offseason I will take everyday to work on my craft. Oh, the league better watch out because coming into t next season I guarantee I will be a different type of breed. Also, to the gm’s interested in me in the draft, I thank you and I will not let you down. Picking me will be the best decision you have ever made trust me ?.

Alright I am back for another week!

We are approaching the playoffs… Is everyone hyped up!!!

Here in Ottawa I can say proudly (being in the playoffs) that I am pumped to see what happens! I think Ottawa can really make a splash ?. So, for my article I am not going to talk about the playoffs all much, but I want to talk more about my Rookie Overview.

Let us talk about the Ottawa Lynx this year a bit before getting into my main idea of this article. The Ottawa Lynx have finished with a 36-28-8 for a grand total of 80 points. We have finished 6 out of 12 teams. We may not be at the level of Halifax who have 129 points and look to be the favorites, but we can make a splash. Anything goes in the playoffs!
This week I wanted to talk about my rookie year. I may have only played 28 games, but I think it is enough of a sample size to talk about it. I joined late into the season and was proud of being a member of Ottawa. We have such a great group of guys down here it is incredible. So, for my stats, which I am not proud of haha. I have played 28 games, posted sadly, no goals and 4 assists. A +/- of -18. 18 penalty minutes, so I am pretty disciplined on the ice which is nice to see. I am averaging a hit per game which is the only stat that makes sense in my player, due to being 6 foot 3 and 218 pounds. So, from what I see I am not afraid to throw the body out there and it may cause so openings for my teammates. 4 shots blocked; wish I had a little more but heck! I do not have a goal yet, so I am not expecting much. And obviously no game winning goals, powerplay goals nor shorthanded goals. So, from what I see my guy is really underperforming for having 80 in the scoring category and having 109 TPE, but I am still patient. Still working on getting the most TPE available each week. Also what I have noticed is maybe because I have a low skating and being a big guy for a winger, I may need a lot of speed to get some space and score or get my teammates goals. But what matters now is the playoffs! Going to work my ass off in the playoffs. Sorry for the profanity but I really wanted to show the whole league I can be an impactful player in my own right. Maybe not the scoring nor the playmaking and maybe not even paying in the offense zone, but more of just throwing my body out there and finishing my hits. Also diving for every puck, this is my time to cease the opportunity, of players being nervous, and that will certainly not affect me, and just give it my all for the team. Not me. THE TEAM. Let us go Ottawa!

Week 3 of my weekly experience in the league!

So, for this week it was a quiet one. We (Ottawa Lynx) have made it into the playoffs! I am very excited to see what happens to our team and how we will perform. Hey! Maybe it is my chance to put up some big minutes and help the team out. I think we can make a huge impact in the playoffs and teams should not underestimate us. Also, my season is over and in my media spot I shared my stats, but I am disappointed, because with an 80 scoring you would think I would score at least one? Nope, seems to be hard for me to break trough. Therefore, the playoffs are important for me. It is only matter of time. Also, I am ranked 63 in the draft and hope to get a little higher till the end of the playoffs. I did join later but I really think I can be a sleeper. Anyways everyone have a good one! Let us see what the playoffs brings us!

    1. I think our chance to win it all is unlikely but we could surprise some people.
    2. Most helpful would be philliefan, helping me get my stats up lol

1- I feel like we have a great chance to making the playoffs, with the new acquisitions we are looking good!
2- Dok for sure, always here to answer my questions
3- To be able to produce at a relatively good rate. But in 13 games no goals and 3 assists has not been what I expected for myself this year.
4- Not personal, but the cup yes
5- I would bring all the boys to a huge party. Rent a place and party all night!
7- It HAS to be CCM. Every equipment I own is CCM (psss sponsor me CCM!)

I think this is a very good graphic! Under the banner you can see a big of the lynx, which seems a bit untidy. Maybe you could brush that out or expand the banner's size a bit to cover it. Another option could be to have that bottom right corner as a solid color and add in whatever Suzuki's number is. With that, the shadow behind the "Ottawa Lynx" seems a bit strong, but I think that's more personal taste.

    Overall, 8/10!
