New York Americans Press Conference Questions
fromtheinside replied to STZ's topic in Team Press Conferences
NEW YORK AMERICANS PRESS CONFERENCE For Week-Ending of Feb 06/22 1) Our team managed to sign Kristof Welch and Jakky Sosa to help fortify our roster heading into the season. We also managed to sign an inactive player named Phillip Stein and converted him to a defenseman to give us some extra depth on D. How do you feel about these signings, and with our roster now set heading into the regular season, do you think we can compete well enough to get a playoff spot THIS SEASON!? 2) It was a lengthy back-and-forth battle, but the dust has settled and defensive prodigy Tavish DeGroot will be in the starting lineup alongside Kristof Welch opening night on Tuesday. He's still a bit of a loose cannon and doesn't want to ingratiate himself to his teammates, which is really a shame What can we do as management or collectively as a team to warm the heart of Tavish to make him feel welcome and buy-in to the Amurican Way? [For Tavish] What could we do to make your time here in the Big Apple more enjoyable? 3) Did you participate in the VHFL this season. If so, how did you feel about your draft? If not, why are you making the conscience effort to give away free TPE? Just kidding, if not, who would your ideal lineup be? (3 forwards, 2 D, one goalie) 4) Name one member in the VHL community that is important to you and give a brief explanation as to why they mean so much to you. 5) The Winter Olympics are just around the corner. Do you watch/follow the Olympics? Or do you like the Summer Olympics better? What are some of your favourite events? 6) Brock Lesnar won the god damn Royal Rumble on Saturday and it was super lame. Do you or have you ever watched wrestling at any time in your life and if so name some of your favourite wrasslers. -

by Scott Podinksky NEW YORK-Three days before the start of the 82nd VHL Season and The Big Apple is buzzing about the offseason shakeup surrounding the New York Americans. The writing was on the wall for most of last season; the team was headed into a rebuild. With their assets dwindling and their superstar forward Rhynex Entertainment headed into retirement come season's end, Americans fans knew changes were coming. The franchise started off things by getting super lucky and winning the draft lottery and thus receiving the first overall pick in the VHL Entry Draft. With that pick, the Americans selected Vasile Lamb from the Mississauga Hounds. Lamb was the consensus number one pick in the draft and should have a home on the first line for seasons to come. Their next pick in the draft came in the second round at 20th overall. This pick has been the center of controversy for weeks now, but the Americans shocked hockey fans everywhere when they drafted Tavish DeGroot, the talented defenseman from the San Diego Marlins. DeGroot was widely considered to be a Top 3 pick in this draft, however their draft stock plummeted after rumors swirling about DeGroot's intentions to play in Europe for half their career. After a messy series of negotiations, DeGroot eventually inked their entry-level deal with the Americans and seems to be ready for opening night on Tuesday. Alongside him on the teams first defensive pair will be none other than veteran Kristof Welch. Welch has become a household name in the VHL and is known to be one of the most consistent blueliners. Many teams were vying for his services but to many people's surprise, Welch chose New York. Aside from his high hockey IQ and smooth stick handling, Welch was also voted VHL's sexiest player in GQ magazine in 2021. When asked about this, Welch accredited his soft skin which he gained from many a pie-in-the-face. Welch also said the management team claimed to "like the way he smelled, boy". In addition to signing Welch, the Americans continued to accrue talent in the forms of Jakky Sosa and Philip Stein. Sosa will be reunited with Welch from their time together in Malmo. Sosa has been an elite goal scorer with a high propensity to come in clutch when it matters most. This will be his final season before he rides off into the sunset and hangs up the skates. The city is certainly abuzz with all these new faces and the roof could come off Madison Square Garden this Tuesday night when the puck is dropped to start the season!

With another VHLM Dispersal Draft in the books, there were some very clear winners that emerged from the draft this past Monday. While some teams prioritized on building for the long-tern future, it was very clear that the Houston Bulls are entering Season 82 with a "win-now" mentality. The Bulls started off their draft with the first overall pick. At number one they selected Swedish phenom Scotty Sundin. We saw a glimpse of what Sundin was capable last season when he came over from Europe to play for the San Diego Marlins. Needless to say, the Houston management was impressed with what they saw. This will be their number one center for this coming season. From there, the Bulls' focus shifted to the blueline where they drafted a pair of incredible defensive talents. With picks 6 and 8, the Bulls went with AirRig GoodBrandSun and Hammer Voss. These two big burly slabs of meat should make for a formidable 1-2 punch on defense. In a team press conference following the draft, Hammer Voss requested the two d-men be referred to the Towers of Power for the remainder of their time in Houston. The Bulls weren't done there though, as they went a drafted Phoebe Bridgers, a shifty winger that should compliment Sundin nicely. In total, the Bulls made ten draft picks to fill out their roster for the coming season. Prognosticators have the Bulls and the Philadelphia Reapers as the main favourites to win the Founder's Cup this season. The puck drops Tuesday so be sure not to miss the action!

Dil been putting in work behind the scenes lately. Your hard work is greatly appreciated sir.

I can somewhat relate. I say things I don’t actually believe in either just to get a reaction from people sometimes. I think going forward Hogan, you just need to know when to slow your roll. Regardless, good move here with your message.

Just an update for the group... @NSG you are on the clock currently and have nine hours to make your pick. Also NSG is back-to-back for picks, so he will get another 12 hours to make this following pick if need be. Also @Adrest245 you were skipped since you didn't make your pick in time, but you may make your second pick any time. This was your first skip. If you are skipped again at any point for the rest of the draft I will have to contact Spartan and he will replace you as per the rules. Hopefully that doesn't need to happen though

Ardest has 3 hours left to make their pick. If no pick is made in the next 3 hours, @NSG feel free to make your pick. I will be at work during this time, that's why I'm saying this now.

This is a massive W for everyone. A lot of people who listen to Spartan's podcast would know this was his brainchild, but for those of you who don't, this was Spartan's first idea as soon as he came to BOG, and in my opinion it's a slam dunk. Can't wait to use this myself, as well as see other people's game reviews. Good shit!
