  2. looks like we fast tracked it to step 6
  3. NEW YORK AMERICANS PRESS CONFERENCE For Week-Ending of Jan 30/22 1) [For Draftees] How do you feel now that you've been drafted by the New York Americans? Are you happy with where you were drafted? [For Returning Players] How would you grade NYA's draft last night? Are you happy with who we have brought in? 2) During the draft last night, NYA management decided to take a risk and draft controversial defenseman Tavish DeGroot. DeGroot was the second highest TPE earner on the draft board, but he slipped to the second round after he claimed he wouldn't play for anyone but the LA Stars (he is GM there). We decided to take him in Round 2 at 20th overall. We are hoping to trade him to LA and get assets in return. What do you think of the decision to draft DeGroot? 3) Heading into S82, what are your expectations for your player? What goals do you have for the season whether it be point totals, goals, minutes, ending the season with X TPE, anything at all? 4) How do you think New York will perform this season. We are definitely in rebuild mode, but do you think we can surprise anyone or are we in for a season filled with pain? 5) Free agency just opened up today. Is there anyone in particular you think we should target or a certain position you think we could improve on? 6) The weekend had featured some crazy games in the NFL. (RIP Bills ) Do you watch any sports besides hockey, If so what are your favourite teams or players that you like?
  4. nice work AJ

  6. nice writeup DJ, oh and also congrats on the GM job in the M. You will do great in Mississauga!
  7. content also AJ find new roommates pls
  8. Question 1: Were you expecting to make the team? Why or why not? To be honest, no I didn't expect to make the team. I thought I would still be too low TPE. Was pleasantly surprised when I was asked! Question 2: What do you expect from this team going into the tournament? Hopefully we can make the medal round and come away with some hardware! That would be ideal Question 3: What team do you think will win the tournament this year? Hopefully either us or Team Canada. It would be nice to take home the gold, but if we can't get the job done then I am routing for Canada. Question 4: What are your plans after this offseason? Well the VHLM draft is coming up soon so I am preparing for that. I am hoping to goto a cool team with an active LR. It'll be one season in the M competing for the Founder's Cup and then hopefully off to the VHL! Question 5: Who's your pick for VHL rookie of the year in S82? My guess would be Vasile Lamb but I guess we will have to see. It's a good crop of rookies this upcoming season. Question 6: If you were to start a podcast (not VHL related), what would it be called, and what would it be about? I would probably do a fantasy sports podcast as I am pretty into fantasy hockey and fantasy baseball. Not sure what I would call it. I used to do a podcast in VHL called the VHL Roundtable but it was a ton of work and it got to a point where I didn't have time to do it every week anymore.
  9. Just to add to this, I spent a decent amount of time in management in the M. The constant grind of doing waiver claims was by far the most tedious part of the experience. The goal here would be to relieve some of that for the GMs and AGMs. We don't wanna ruin the first experience a new user gets when they first visit the site. There's no denying it's a cool feeling to get all those offers when you first create. But if we can find a way to automate this process and still make it feel like a cool experience that would end in the same result (I.e. getting them set up with their initial team, signing a contract and getting them in Discord) then that would be ideal.
  10. Review: I am really diggin this graphic. There's a ton to like. First off, I really like the player render and the jersey edit/logo swap you did. Everything looks super clean and sharp. I also dig the editing you did with the player blurred out in the background and the effects you laid over top. The extra bit of green goes nice with the green on the jersey and comes together great. The font you chose looks nicely sized and well placed. I think my only critique or change I would make would be making all of "Mitchell" in black instead of having it partially faded out at at the start. I guess that's just personal preference. As a whole it still looks great. Nice job dlamb! 9/10

  16. Review: This is such a unique graphic and I really love the attention to detail. First are foremost, the player render and edits you made to him look awesome. The logo swap on the jersey looks awesome and I love the Calgary logo on the bottom of the pants too, a nice added touch. Then I like the little added details like the "Final Shot at Glory Lost?" heading on the picture, and your name in small font in the bottom corner of the picture. I think I would have liked to see the title a bit bigger, but that's just a tiny detail. And finally, I love that there's a legit actual article about Calgary in the graphic as well. I thought it would just be some random article not related to VHL, but the fact it's actually related to your team is super cool. This is a nice change of style from your usual forum signatures and graphics, I really enjoyed it. Awesome job. 9/10
  17. Review: So there's things I like about this graphic and a couple thing's that I'm not as huge of a fan of. Let's start with the positives.. as you said in your comment below, you wanted to try a graphic with a modified background. I think this portion of the graphic is actually dope. The colorless image in the background with that layer of effect over top of it looks great, and it really makes the rest of the graphic stand out more, I love it. The placement of your top and bottom text are great, I didn't love the font choice but that's not a dealbreaker by any means. I wish the RB 28 popped out more. I think if you made it all purple it would have been a bit better. And the one thing I don't love is the player render. The render itself is good, I like the picture you chose. I just hate the recolouring on the jersey. It looks a little sloppy but I like that you did a logo swap. Overall I'd give this a 7/10. Nice work!
  18. The Malmo Nighthawks' players were cleaning out their dressing rooms for the summer yesterday as they fell to the Moscow Menace in the EU Conference Final for a second straight season. It was a hard fought series, but ultimately the Russian-based club emerged victorious once again, thanks to strong efforts across the board from their entire roster. The loss stings a bit extra this season, as it was revealed a couple of weeks ago that longtime Nighthawks defenseman Scotty Kaberle was going to retire after this playoff run. The fans, the organization, and especially Kaberle himself were all hoping to get one last Continental Cup before riding off into the sunset. It will be interesting to see how the Nighthawks roster takes shape going forward. Alongside Kaberle, defenseman Matty Thunder also will be hanging up the skates this offseason, and on top of that, there are rumors Kristof Welch may be testing free agency this offseason. It will definitely be a new look blueline this coming fall in Malmo. It should be interesting to see how GM Dominic Gobeil deals with some of these hard decisions his club will face on the horizon. He was chosen as the predecessor to GM Hylands a couple of seasons ago, and he came in when the team was still widely considered a powerhouse in the league. He made some bold moves to keep the team's window for success open as long as possible. What he decides to do next though may be what he is most remembered for during his tenure in Malmo!
