HatrickRoy reacted to McWolf in Early Victory Fighting Federation Favourites
The Victory Fighting Federation will begin its activities in a couple weeks, on the opening day of Season 78. Until then, I figured it would be interesting to look at some players who could be favourites to hold the title of VFF Champion at some point in the upcoming season. From players who historically have gotten into a lot of fights, down to some dark horses that might not be as eager to drop the gloves, but that know how to get it done once they get into a bout.

    Riley Knight Gee, Prague Phantoms
    @KnightRiley

Riley Knight Gee is the first player on the list, thanks to his league-leading 6 wins in Season 77. He did get into 4 more fights, but only ended up with blood and snow on his face once. If he does get the belt at some point - and I’m guessing very early on in the season - he could legitimately carry it until the very end of the season. He gets into enough fights to not get disgraced after not taking part in any for 20 straight games, and he wins or at least draws often enough that it seems like it would be hard to take the title away from him. Watch out for this one.

    Jared Carter, Riga Reign
    @jaredc7

I’m not trying to diminish the actual hockey talent of our second favourite, but Jared Carter is a goon by definition. The Season 77 rookie scored a lowly 2 points - both assists - playing a very limited time every night, but he did get into 6 scraps, winning 4 of them. He’s rarely on the ice, but when he is, he’s looking forward to dropping the gloves and throwing opponents to the ground. If the rest of his game grows, as you’d expect for a sophomore, he should commend more time on ice and have more opportunities to take the VFF belt.

    Randy Marsh, Malmo Nighthawks
    @oilmandan

Randy Marsh is our third favourite. He might not strike fans as an actual favourite, due to him eating ice on 4 different occasions last season, but he did get involved in a league-high 14 fights. Only 1 of them resulted in a win, but all you need is to win one against the right opponent to be a VFF Champion. I doubt Marsh would hold the title for a long time, especially if he keeps getting outpunched by everyone out there, but that still makes him a favourite to be a Champion at some point of the season - and one of the most likely to get into multiple title fights, whether he wins them or not.

    Rusty Knale, London United
    @HatrickRoy

Our fourth and last player on the list is none other than VHL sophomore Rusty Knale. He has a knack for dropping the mitts - and he usually makes it count - as demonstrated by his 5 wins in 9 total fights last season. In fact, Knale only trailed Knight Gee in wins, and he was comfortably in the 4th spot when it came to overall fights. And he did all that as a rookie, so it'll be fun to see how the experience and growth he gets from playing his second VHL season affect his fighting tendencies.

HatrickRoy got a reaction from McWolf in Draft day
It's draft day in the VHL. After the most recent mock draft, Rusty Knale was ranked in the early second round, going to the HC Davos Dynamo. It seems as though Rusty's game, full of heart and grit, has attracted at least someone's attention.
The way Rusty plays reminds most of the rough and tumble 1970s in the NHL, where the Broad Street Bullies reigned and big, physical defenceman were dominant. However, Rusty has seemed to make that same style of play work in the 2021 VHLM. He's 6'8 and weighs 248 pounds, so he's automatically one of the most feared guys in the league. Add in his relentless checking ability, and you've got yourself a classic 70s tough guy.
To add to all of this, Rusty collected his first VHLM ring last season with the Philadelphia Reapers. While he wasn't getting ideal minutes on the stacked Reapers D core, he still managed to score a game winning goal, get 22 penalty minutes, record 23 hits, and block 14 shots.
In an interview with Knale about his future in the VHL, he gave out this statement: "I get drafted by VHL team tonight, but I stay in VHLM so I can learn play better. I not good enough yet."

VSN PRESENTS:  THE SEASON 76 MOCK DRAFT

Hey there everyone, MattyIce here, and I hope you're having a great day and thanks for dropping in to read our stuff!

It's draft day soon and this is the time when moves are made, players get drafted and VHL franchises get ready for the upcoming season while planning ahead for their futures.  I mentioned in my preview article that this draft is the first in many seasons that the GM player rule had been dropped, meaning no GM player may reserve a first-round pick to claim their player to their team.

This draft has a top-heavy class of superstar talents, but that doesn't mean the rest of the bunch won't see success.  Many interesting players and personalities litter this draft, ready to be selected into their first VHL experience.  I'm also joined by my co-scouts @fonziGG and @Patrik Tallinder , featuring some contributions by @Spence King!

Tallinder had this to say:  'This draft is one of much ambiguity after the first 4 picks. There are a lot of exciting first gens and returning talent, and it’s hard to picture what this draft will look like a few seasons from now. The thrilling part of this uncertainness, at least for myself, is that there is potential for some real game changers to slip through the cracks and become real steals down the road. Working on this mock draft was a fun process as always, as it’s always interesting to hear others’ opinions on the prospects and share mine.'

Fonzi's take on the draft:  ' The draft is always the most special time in the VHL, in my personal opinion. Everyone who is draft eligible is excited to see which colours they're going to be dawning next season. The top 4 look fantastic but I think this draft is far deeper then anyone can expect. There are so many players that can leapfrog the top 4 down the line depending on how careers pan out. These drafts are always a pleasure to work on since I get to see what other scouts think of certain prospects. I can't wait to see how this draft can affect the league for years to come!'

    On with our VSN predictions!

FIRST ROUND 1                                                                                         Red Lite   RW TPE: 357                                         @Tate                                                 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Red Lite, the shifty American sniper had a whopping 48 goals and 97 points in his first (and last) VHLM season with San Diego. He has all the necessary tools to hit the ground running once New York Americans GM Esso Drunkmann selects him the first overall pick of the Season 76 VHL Entry Draft. He's already geared up and ready to hit training camp when it's time. He has excellent sense at both end of the ice and shows amazing hands. His strength and his checking ability though are lacking at the moment, he may get outclassed until he develops a bit more. He had been developing though at a torrid pace and should have an excellent rookie campaign to accelerate the Americans' rebuilding phase. Battre is an elite puck handling, offensive-minded defender even though he can hold his own on the defensive end. Battre is able to spearhead a power play or break out of his own defensive zone with ease and comfort. Sandstrom posted a very impressive 75 points in 72 games with a +32 rating showing he's probably ready to make the jump up and consume a strong rookie campaign. Battre is also an elite skater and can move around the ice as silky smooth as a knife to butter. Sandstrom could improve on his physical strength and that ties in with the ability to check should let him be more effective in the defensive zone. My projection with Battre is that he could easily be a contender for the rookie of the year. He managed 64 points last season, including ten powerplay goals. He showed off his balanced two-way game and great puck-moving ability, getting pucks off quickly and producting good plays. He did benefit from playing on a championship-caliber team like the Reapers, but this is just the way to end a VHLM career and be ready for the VHL. Calgary GM Ryan Jubis should definitely give him a look to bolster his defense in the future, Eagles could have a bright future in a Wranglers uniform. He is a really well-developed offensive threat from the blueline, frequently utilizing his cannon of a shot to create scoring chances. This brought much success in the VHLM, where Hogan Jr posted 21 goals in the regular season, and 7 more in just 16 postseason games. The Canadian defender has earned every available capped TPE so far in his career, and is expected to be a long term max earner. His time in the minors has already brought him two deep playoff runs and a Founder’s Cup, with both runs including elevated performances from the top prospect. Perhaps similar success will follow in his professional career. Frank is a fantastic two-way forward that is able to do it on both sides of the ice. Funk Jr put up a very decent 44 points in 72 games but showcased his defensive ability with an impressive 154 hits and 14 shots blocked. He shows up when his team needs him as well with an impressive 7 game-winning goals for his team and could be a leader for an organization for an entire career. Frank is a Russian and may be used to the European ice so while he put up 44 points this past season, I know he's going to put up much more the more he plays on North American Ice. When I look at Frank, I see an unfinished product but if an organization can polish him into a finished product, we might have a monster on our hands. With 20 goals and 66 points in 72 games, helped San Diego to the semi finals, also getting over a point-per-game during their run. His training has been above average, putting him in contention to go even higher in the draft, but there had been rumors about him making comments around the VHL community that his offseason training may dip or he might even retire, but I can assure you, VHL. Gunnar Odinsson will be playing in the VHL next season and his development hasn't skipped a beat. He's still been putting in the work this whole time and he merits getting drafted this high. He would be a big boost to Toronto's defence corps, joining other VHL rookies like Scotty Kaberle and Jolly Greene Giant San Diego 72 20 46 66 12 132 78 130 88 San Diego - Playoffs 9 2 9 11 -1 26 10 12 5                     DEVELOPMENT: 14 14 28 26 16 12 Past 6: 110                                                   7                                                                                         Kristof Welch Juice D TPE: 265                                         @Juice                                                 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Hungarian defender Kristof Welch joined the Yukon Rush as a waiver claim at the beginning of the season and adjusted quite quickly to the VHLM game. He showed excellent progress throughout the campaign, getting 53 points in 63 games. He helped the Yukon Rush to the last playoff spot but didn't quite have the post season he expected to, going pointless in a four-game playoff exit. His defensive ability is already pretty great and the rest of his game is pretty balanced. He could have a real good shot at being a premiere player in the league if his progress doesn't falter. DC Dragons GM Eno Rama should already have an eye on this first gen who has quite enough potential to make an impact. His development has sure been steady since the beginning of the season and possibly with the option of staying with the Reapers for another season could make him a very effective defenseman for season 77. The option is his though and it's still too soon to tell if he's VHL ready. He's built very balanced and like to pass first, as evidenced by his 39 assists during the season and 11 points in 15 playoff games, ten of those were also assists. His strength, checking and puckhandling do need some work though but with some time, he could have a solid foundation to hold the line on a VHL top four. The Rock has the chance to do the same, and he has shown early signs that hint to that. His 151 hits this season in San Diego placed him 3rd on the team, only 5 behind the leading Cowboy Prout. Johnson has a very balanced build, with 8 attributes at or above 70. He has averaged 14.3 TPE per week so far in his career, which will lead to quite favourable results should this rate continue further into his career. Expect even more from him this season, where he could very likely improve on his 76 point campaign from a season ago. With at least 34 goals in S76, Verlander would actually find himself in the top 3 in all-time goals in Kings franchise history. Aside from his VHLM career, Verlander is easily one of the best prospects in this draft, both for the assurance of excellence and the star potential. His last player, Erik Draven, reached the 1000 TPE milestone as a long-time Helsinki Titan. Phoenix is another defensive responsible forward and I genuinely believe Phoenix has the capabilities of exploding as a forward. I've seen his ability to find himself in the right place at the right time. Phoenix is a bit more of a polished product, however, I think if they can always improve in different places of the ice. As a center, if they can work on his offense more as well as improve on his faceoffs, they could be a dependable forward on any roster in the VHL coming into the league. The other side of the coin is that if they can improve on their strength, they might not get outmuscled at the boards. However, the fact that they can be a very responsible forward tells me that Dawson can have a very legendary career. We could potentially have a legend on our hands. His skating for a VHLM player is impressive, alongside the fact that he has the ability to handle the puck at an elite level down there. In the VHL, he'll be up to speed with other players but it won't take him very long to become elite in the league. I also expect him to put up decent points if he goes to a team that gives him minutes. Stein is a strong contender for a rookie of the year campaign if he's given the opportunity on the ice. Don't let his defensive statistics scare you, he was growing as a player all year round and if he was given another season in the VHLM, I don't think he would put up a worse +/-. As a first-gen, they put up some incredible numbers in their first-ever season in the VHL. They put up a very strong 55 hits, 2 game-winners, and 20 points on 72 games. They are definitely built to be a solid defensive forward as they have always been reliable when it comes to her play. They always made sure they were on the right side of the puck and it almost felt like, at times, Philadelphia had a third defender on the roster. Especially on the penalty kill and on the power play. If Caitlyn can figure out their offensive play, an organization could really use a player like this. Specialty players like Caitlyn are essential for dynasties to really separate from the pack. I think he's got a huge future ahead of him and any roster could do with a late steal like Kamkar, especially as he's poised to be the greatest Iranian VHL player in history. Javad has this rugged, hard-nosed, and no-nonsense defender. His stats don't truly tell the story of the player as Halifax was a decent team but I think he played the nastiest shifts. Looking at Kamkar, he'll potentially thrive in a different role as he grows into an elite defensive defender with the ability to find an offensive opportunity. What makes Moreau so special is that while he clearly hasn't fully developed his offensive game yet, primarily in his passing, he will surprise lots of teams with his defensive skill as a forward. He's also able to skate really well, which I think can translate over to the big leagues. It's mostly the fact that he can't pass the puck very well, whether it's in transition or to even find the open man on an offensive play. It's something the coaching staff in in Saskatoon has to be working very hard on in order to elevate his game to the next level. He should be able to jump up to the VHL in potentially his year 2 season and make major leaps in his year 3 or year 4 season. Another year to sharpen his skills in the VHLM will be invaluable to his development, where he can rise up to the top ranks of elite players. It would be beneficial to see an improvement in his discipline and defensive game, but the raw talent is certainly there. Blazevicius utilizes his size to his advantage extremely efficiently, covering much of the net with good posture and positioning in the crease. His TPE earning has dipped a little bit in recent weeks, yet he still has a considerably high amount of upside. S75 Philadelphia Reapers – The greatest VHLM team of all-time

The history books will forever show that the Philadelphia Reapers won the S75 Founder’s Cup. Kids will act out Tom Eagles amazing end to end rush to score the Cup winning overtime goal. Fans will long tell the heroics of goaltender Jacob Carson, who’s .921 save % is the best performance in the playoffs in more than 10 seasons. Or they’ll talk about the perseverance of long-term Reapers like captain Darius Marimoto or assistant captains Carson Walkers and Jacob Carson.

There are other feats by the team which will enter the record books. Like franchise records for most goals in a season (304), most assists in a season (548), most shots in a season (2,641). Some may even applaud the franchise record for most penalty minutes in a season (943).

All of those things are great, but lots of teams have won championships and lots of teams set franchise records. The reason I think this Reaper team is the greatest team in the history of the VHLM is because winning is great and all, but the VHLM has other goals, like introducing players to the league, keeping players active, and earning TPE. The Reapers kept a full roster of 22 players for the entire season. We only had to release 1 player due to inactivity during the season. That’s a feat during any season, much less during a season with 22 players on the roster. That really speaks volumes to the fantastic players who recently joined this league. I’m glad the VHLM was able to provide such an exciting season for everyone and keep so many people engaged and active this season. I also think it demonstrates how cohesive this Reaper team was. Everyone stuck together as a team and encouraged each other to be successful.

During the season, this Reaper team earned more TPE than any other team in the history of the league. Check out these TPE totals.

This team earned 2,351 TPE during the season! That is an unbelievable amount. The total ending TPE of 5,508 is also amazing and is more than some VHL teams. I’m blown away by how committed the entire team was to improving themselves and winning it all.

Add all these things together: the fact they won the championship in a super competitive year with the greatest number of active players in the history of the league, maintaining a full roster with 22 active players for an entire season, and earning the most TPE in a season for any team ever. The result is you have the greatest VHLM team of all-time, the S75 Philadelphia Reapers.

This season was an eventful one for Rusty Knale. He finally made it out of the bus leagues and turned pro with the Philadelphia Reapers of the VHLM. Here are some of his proudest moments of S75:

Final Game of the Season vs the San Diego Marlins
    Play by Play notes:
8:31 of 1st period: Duncan Idaho is hit by Rusty Knale and loses puck
8:35 of 1st period: Delving Mackey is hit by Rusty Knale and loses puck
8:45 of 1st period: Duncan Idaho is hit by Rusty Knale and loses puck

What must have happened here is Idaho, Mackey, and Knale were in the corner and the Marlins guys kept getting the puck but Rusty kept hitting them over and over. These three plays literally happened in order in a row. SO a very proud moment for Rusty indeed.

This one isn't in a play-by-play, but I read it and this is all Rusty did the whole game:
All Rusty Knale did in the second to last game of the regular season was hit, block shots, ice the puck, and get penalties. That is all he did the entire game. It really reflects what kind of player he is, a gritty enforcer-type.

So I've been in this league for what, two weeks, and there's like ten games left in the regular season. It's almost over, and it's almost playoff time. Good news is that it's playoff time and I'm ready to go for the cup. Bad news is I'll probably be joining a new team at the dispersal draft. That's not really bad news though. I'm excited to have Rusty being eligible for two drafts at once, and ranked pretty high. But that's something to look forward two after the playoffs are over, so right now I'm trying to push that out of my mind and focus on helping the Reapers get to the top of the standings. I know that we're probably clinched at this point, but getting the best seed possible really helps our chances once we get into the postseason.

Regarding Rusty's stats, I'm a little concerned. 2 points, both assists, in 44 games is a little disappointing. The 14 plus/minus and 43 hits, and 8 blocked shots are something to be proud of, but the offensive production definitely needs work and focus. Probably, the answer is investing TPE into passing to make Rusty a more all around offensive player.

HatrickRoy reacted to fyrefly in Sheldon Juniper joins the Aces
In the dead of night, on December 8th, 2020, a trade was announced between the Las Vegas Aces and the Yukon Rush. It marked the path that both teams were going to take that season; the Aces, a deep playoff run and perhaps a Founder's Cup, and the Rush, a stockpiling of draft picks and prospects. This was made official when the Rush shipped off Juniper, now a VHLM-maxed winger, to the Aces in exchange for Nathan Askarov and a second round pick in the upcoming dispersal draft. After the trade, we caught up to an exhilarated Juniper.

Reporter: Well, Sheldon, the news is out. You are now a member of the Las Vegas Aces. What's going through your head right now?

Sheldon Juniper: Mostly just "Oh my god, I just got traded". @fromtheinside, our AGM in Yukon, sent me an email to let me know in advance, which I really appreciated. @MexicanCow123 and him have been so good to me, so if you guys are watching this, thank you. It's been a pleasure to be on the Rush, and I hope you guys are successful next season.

Reporter: The team you are joining, the Aces, are clearly in a win-now mode, and you were obviously acquired to help the team win. How do you feel about that?

SJ: I'm honored that someone would think so highly of me to trade picks for me, and I'm looking for my second championship now with the Aces. It's cool to be thinking about going for the cup again. I haven't been playing at my best in Yukon, and I've had quite a few scoring slumps. It did feel good to get a hat trick a couple games ago, but I think a change in scenery might be for the better.

Reporter: Another product of this trade has been you being reunited with your friend, Swedish defenceman Linus Zetterstrom @Ledge_and_Dairy. What's it like playing professional hockey with one of your best friends?

SJ: Yeah, it's cool to be with Linus. He's a good guy, and it's cool that we might win a cup together. We obviously haven't seen much of each other recently, with him being in Vegas and me being in Yukon, and it being in the middle of the season, so it'll be fun to be on a team with him for this playoffs before he goes to Riga and I go to Vancouver next year.

Reporter: The Aces also recently received Dan Dan and Jordan Tate, two very good forwards from the Mississauga Hounds, to even further bolster their offensive depth. How do you like your odds in the playoffs?

SJ: To quote the Mandalorian, "I like those odds". I love that show by the way. Anyway, I really do like our odds. Dan Dan and Jordan Tate are huge additions, and I think we have what it takes to win the cup. I know the Reapers and the Kings are both really good, but I think if we get a little luck we can pull it off

    1. I like where we are headed but we can't take anything for granted, need to keep doing all the little things well.  Winning puck battles.  Getting to and stopping at the net.  Blocking shots.  I think if we keep doing these things we'll go the distance.
    2. He put in the hard work early and it's paying off.  He's got a hot hand and I think he'll keep going.  Great to see.
    3. Pretty well.  I like the cold, feels Canadian and feels like hockey season.  Warm weather is for golf and lakes.
    4. I go where the team goes.  We follow the covid rules to keep healthy and respect others but we get where we need to go.
    5. My favorite sport outside hockey is football.  I played both in college and I feel that my football training and experience helps me in hockey - especially in the corners and net front!
    6. Nope.  I will keep my routine intact, keep doing the small stuff and doing whatever I can to help the team be successful.

HatrickRoy got a reaction from DMaximus in A 4th pairing goon
I mean, was anyone surprised when tough old Rusty Knale was put on the fourth pairing as a goon? It's his natural position, but the stats just don't seem to be agreeing with him at this point. In sixteen games, he has a measly one assist for one point, while only 10 penalty minutes and only 13 hits. It's a bit disappointing considering how dominant he was in these categories in the bus leagues.

However, Knale's team, the Philadelphia Reapers, are arguably the best team in the league. Like, they're better than Mexico. Like, by a lot. I guess we'll know better after the Reapers beat the Kings in the playoffs, but until then, the Kings are technically better because they have more points. But looking at both teams' rosters, it's pretty clear, at least to me, who will come out of this season victorious.

Anyway, back to Rusty himself. He's ranked 18th overall for the VHLM dispersal draft and 35th overall for the VHL Entry draft, so I won't be getting much action in the first round, but after that, anything can happen. I'm also optimistic at how many offers I initially got when I created Knale. Seven, I think, which means he is valuable and sought after. Well, as much as a sub 90 TPE guy can be.

HatrickRoy reacted to caltroit_red_flames in A New Challenger Approaches
Over the recent days there have been several new members added to the team in Houston. Interestingly enough those players happen to also be some of the greatest conquerors the world has ever known, along with a structural wonder known far and wide.

First came Napoleon Bonaparte. The military emperor from France who rose to power during the French Revolution in the 1790s. He led the country over the course of 2 distinct reigns, one between 1804 and 1814 which saw the French Empire take dominion over the Holy Roman Empire, Spain, Italy, and nearly the rest of Western Europe. Of course reign would come to and end, but unexpectedly he rose to power once again for a total of about 4 months. Since then he has stayed in exile honing his hockey talents.

Next came Alexander the Great, king of ancient Greece and husband to three separate wives. As king of Macedonia and Persia he established the largest empire in the entire ancient world. It spanned all the way from Macedonia to India to Egypt. Truly an amazing amount of land to rule over in a single kingdom. It is believed that he died after the death of friend and lover Hephaestion passed away. In reality he has been living in northern Canada waiting for his moment to take the hockey world by storm.

There is of course the Mongolian Emperor Genghis Khan as well whose influence is seen throughout the entire world. His reign was only a short 19 years but in that time he pillaged and ruled over more than half of Asia's land. Following the split of the Mongol empire which saw wars of succession for Khan's throne there became a total of 5 different regions. Khan would spend the next 800 years training in the sport of hockey, never paying any mind to defense but always working scoring.

Lastly the literal Leaning Tower of Pisa has come to Houston to join the Bulls. Nobody knows how or even why it was compelled to come Houston, the tower just showed up outside the arena one day with a note stuck to it that said "I want to play hockey" -Tower of Pisa. Who in their right mind is going to deny that kind of star power and publicity? So the GM signed the Leaning Tower of Pisa and history was made with the first building to player in the VHLM!

The three conquerors sat together at a card table playing poker and reminiscing about their battles throughout history, congratulating each other on their exceptional empires and poking fun at Napoleon's short stature.

Khan: "You know there are 16 million descendants of mine throughout the world? That has to be some kind of a record."

Napoleon "Well not all of us a crazed sex perverts like you Genghis, some of us just wanted to create a large empire."

Alexander "Speak for yourself Napoleon, you're just salty cause you could find a woman to bend down low enough to reach your crumb."

Khan and Alexander gave out a heart laugh.

Napoleon "I swear it one day you'll push me just a little too far. And on that day I'll-"

Khan "You'll what, shorty? It's 2 against 1. 3 against 1 if you count our tower buddy"

Napoleon "You never know, there could be someone else joining our ranks soon. Another historical conqueror..."

The hair on everyone's arms started to stand tall. You could tell there was something wrong. It was something in the air. In the distance they heard it... A shouting from far away...

    "DEUTSCHE ERGEBENHEIT!"

    Khan "No. He's not allowed"

Alexander "Jesus Christ Napoleon fucking tell me you didn't invite him"

Napoleon "Hey I didn't do anything, he just showed up"

HatrickRoy got a reaction from Ledge in Tales from the bus leagues Vol. 1
Welcome to the first volume of Tales from the Bus Leagues. I'm Hatrick Roy. In this series, we're going to be looking at some of the experiences of Rusty Knale in the bus leagues of North America.

Rusty's first experience in the bus leagues was in his debut game with the Los Angeles Chicken Nuggets. The Nuggets were in Chicago to play the Chicago Mobsters, and it was Rusty's first game in the bus leagues after playing in the SM-Liiga, AHL, and ECHL. Rusty's friend Rob Garry was the goalie for the Nuggets, and this is where our story begins.

Rusty was taping his stick at the rink of the Chicago Mobsters, getting ready for the game, when Garry comes up to him.
"Hey, Rusty, my guy. How's it going? Anyway, I need a favour."
Rusty, like the nice guy that he is, offers help.
    "Sure, Rob. What is it?"
"So we're playing the Mobsters tonight yet. Right?"
    "Right"
"And they have a goon who can't skate, can't score, and all he does is fight, right?"
    "Right"
"And YOU'RE a goon who can't skate, can't score, and all you do is fight?"
    "Righ-wait a minute...."
"So I want you to come with me and we're going to fill his shoes with cement"
    "Whaaaat"
    "Yeah"
    "Alright"

And so Rusty and Garry went to the Mobsters' changeroom. No one was there. Garry motioned for Rusty to stay put, then went into the changeroom. He came back out grinning.

    "Rusty, I found his locker"
    "Ok"
"What do you mean ok? Go get the cement"
    "Whaaaaat? You were serious?"
"Yeah man, I was serious. Get the cement"

So Rusty went and brought back a bucket. He came back and saw Garry looking at his watch.

"Rusty, where were you man? It's been four hours!"
"Yeah, traffic was bad, and they were out of cement."
"So what are you carrying in that bucket, Rusty?"

Rusty looked down. He looked inside the bucket. He grinned.

"I found some minnows by the creek."

    Garry grinned.

    "Perfect."

Garry and Rusty filled up the guy's shoes with minnows, and just for good measure, filled up all the Mobsters' water bottles with minnows.

Then they heard shouting from the shower, and ran like hell.

HatrickRoy got a reaction from DMaximus in Rusty Knale Junior Review
Russ Brutus "Rusty" Knale was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, to Bjorn Knale and Ingrid Svensson. Rusty was a ginormous baby, and a ferocious one, too. When he was three years old, his dad put him in a hockey league with six year olds, and Rusty was the goon of his team, often getting into fights on the ice and having opposing parents scream at him. His dad, ever the loyal father, kept track of his stats that year. In 20 games, Rusty scored 120 goals, had zero assists, and had 400 penalty minutes. This was just Rusty's playing style, and it would continue to flourish as he moved up ranks.

It became clear to everyone that Rusty was too good for the small Icelandic leagues very quickly. So the Knale family moved to Sweden, where, at his first tryout, when he was 8 years old, he got into three fights and was kicked off the ice. The team gave him a spot as their 4th line goon, and Rusty quickly showed he could do more than just fight. He scored and fought, scored and fought, scored and fought. By the time he was 10 years old, he was 6'4 and 220 pounds, and just beating the crap out of kids his age. So the hockey bigwigs in Sweden sent him to the GTHL in Toronto, where he joined the Toronto Marlies. His job there was, as you have probably guessed, a 4th line goon. He had the pleasure of beating up some of the future NHL and VHL's brightest stars with the Marlies.

After two years and 38 fights, the GTHL gave up on Rusty and sent him back to Sweden, where he was promptly dumped into Finland. As a 14-year-old, Rusty joined the SM-Liiga team Ilves as their 4th line goon. The SM-Liiga is Finland's top professional league, and it was Rusty's first challenge as a player. In 40 games, Rusty got 3 goals, zero assists, and 860 penalty minutes. He was fighting grown men now, and sometimes they actually gave him a challenge. Nevertheless, Rusty still won every single fight he fought. Rusty spent four years with Ilves, and he got some attention by NHL scouts because of his stats: 45 games, 16 goals, zero assists, and 1,240 penalty minutes. He was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks, and shipped off to their AHL team , the Utica Comets. He played for six years with Utica, never eclipsing 20 goals and never going under 1,500 penalty minutes. Now, he was 24 years old, and looking for another shot at the pros. So he signs with an ECHL team, the Brampton Beast. He plays 4 years with the Beast, recording 80 goals, zero assists, and 3,750 penalty minutes in that span. Now he was 28 and he had given up on the pros, and just wanted to have a little fun.

Rusty joined an American bus league team, the Los Angeles Chicken Nuggets. The Nuggets were a beer league travel team that would drive in a bus and compete in tournaments around the States and Canada. Rusty stayed with the Nuggets until he was 32, when he joined a different team in the same situation, the St Louis Pirates. He had an Icelandic friend on the Pirates, and he played there for TEN YEARS. During that time, he got 400 goals, zero assists, and are you ready for it, I don't think you are, 20,000 penalty minutes. When he left the Pirates, he was 42, and they retired his jersey number, 9.

He then caught the attention of the Philadelphia Reapers, who Knale signed with this season. He is 44 years old.

Then they heard shouting from the shower, and ran like hell.

accept!! Thank for you for all the compelling offers!  As a grizzled vet of the bus leagues, the opportunity to be part of a championship contender is simply too great to pass up.  I look forward to contributing to this team!!  Rusty K.
