  11. Wild Road To Victory! The Wild celebrating after their final regular season game The Saskatoon franchise has not won the Founders Cup since season 28. This season the Wild were looking to change that as they were set up to compete this season. The Wild were certainly on their way to this goal after the regular season winning the Prime Minister’s Cup with a 63-6-3 record. With the likes of Marcel Faux, Max Molholt, Biggu Kyanon and MC Hammer leading the way in the regular season the Wild looked like a dominant team heading into the play-offs. The goaltender, Ariel Weinstein was a bit up and down throughout the season but was still a great performer for the Wild. Their first place finish in the North American Conference allowed them to stay home for the first round as they had a bye. Which is some cases is good but it can also be bad. As the first round ended, the Yukon Rush prevailed over the Brampton Blades in a tough series where Brampton pushed the Rush to the limit. The second round in the North American Conference was going to be a battle between the two top teams, Yukon and Saskatoon. The semi-finals in the North American Conference looked to be a doozy as both teams battled it out in the season with some great games. Game one was a 4-1 win in favor of the Saskatoon Wild. The same goes for games two and three as the Wild won 3-1 in both games. Game four was the series clincher. A nail bitter that went down to the wire in overtime. Late into the first overtime period Sean Blacker potted the series and overtime winner at the 15 minute mark to send the Wild to the Founder’s Cup Final in a sweep! Sean Blacker celebrating his overtime winner in round one! In the other conference first place Oslo Storm had a difficult time buying their ticket to the finals as they were in a tough battle versus a hard working Watchmen team. In seven games, the Oslo Storm advanced to the Finals as they were given all they could handle. The Founder’s Cup was going to be a battle between two of the top teams in the entire league this season. The Wild came out of the gate with a bang taking game one 4-2 and game two 4-0 respectably. Game three the Wild faced some adversity being outshot 25-7 and losing 2-1. Game four would be likely the biggest game of the Wild’s season. They could either crumble under the pressure or rise up and bounce back. In game four, the Wild won 3-2 in overtime from a Max Molholt winner. Then game five which was do or die for the Oslo Storm was a tough one for the Storm. They out shot the Wild 14-1, but were down 1-0 in the first. Then early in the second they went down 2-0 but got one back later in the period to be down 2-1. Mid-way through the third the Wild began to take over as they scored two quick goals around the 10 minute mark to go up 4-1. The Storm eventually got a goal back late in the game but it was not enough. The Wild won the Founder’s Cup! The celebration ensues in the rink as Saskatoon wins the Founder's Cup!!! The Saskatoon Wild completed an amazing season bringing home the Founder’s Cup! The Saskatoon play-off MVP in the fans eyes was goaltender Ariel Weinstein. Ariel put together a fantastic play-off run with a sparking 8-1 record with a .923 save percentage and a 1.49 goals against average. Weinstein kept the Wild in many close games and especially in the finals when they were being out shot by the Storm. A close second for MVP would be Max Molholt who put together a string of clutch performances in overtime and at the end of games. Molholt was the spark plug offensively for the Wild as Marcel Faux was rather mediocre in the play-offs but still put up points. The Wild will head back to Saskatoon to begin their Founder’s Cup parade!
  12. yay !!! Good series Oslo :ssk: :ssk:
  13. Content: 3/3 - Fantastic article, probably going to be used as a discussion point in the debate. I enjoyed reading it. As a VHLM GM, I think the league definitely needs some tweaking that's for sure. I think one of the major problems with the number of actives was that one GM was basically inactive all season (Yukon) and the other one did much of nothing really (Moscow). I don't think Ottawa claimed much either. I would've liked to see them claim more players especially Moscow since his team was bad anyway's but whatever. Rami doing much of nothing all season certainly did not help either for Yukon. Grammar: 2/2 - Didn't see anything Appearance: 1/1 - Graphs, I love graphs. Overall: 6/6
  14. Content: 3/3 - Seems like he was a pretty good player. I wasn't around in this season or any of the seasons he was around really, so I can't say I'm familiar, but good article Grammar: 2/2 - Nothing Appearance: 1/1 - Yes Overall: 6/6
  15. Content: 3/3 - Congrats on a good season. Hopefully you'll continue to preform well and gradually raise those point totals. Grammar: 2/2 - Lovely. Appearance: 1/1 - Looks pretty. Overall: 6/6
  16. Content: 3/3 - Yeah, Lots of great goaltenders. Probably one of the reasons there was no one closer to 200 points like last season with TebowGow. Three really good goalie prospects is a lot for a draft class. Three teams are going to get great goalies for the future. Grammar: 2/2 - Good work Appearance: 1/1 - Looks fine. That pretty bolding Overall: 6/6
  17. Content: 3/3 - Congrats on the great season! Hopefully it won't be a fluke and you will be able to repeat a similar performance next season! Grammar: 2/2 - Solid More points then he had = More points than he had Appearance: 1/1 - Yup Overall: 6/6
  18. Content: 3/3 - That's too bad about Slaughter. The Super Cup should be interesting! I think I was on Brekker Bad last time, so . Grammar: 2/2 - Nice Appearance: 1/1 - Yupperdoodles. Overall: 6/6

  22. Bright Future in Helsinki The Helsinki Titans did not have much to be excited about this past season, but their future is another story. This season saw great performances from Thomas Duddy, Souryuu Kaminogi and Pablo Escabar on the Helsinki Titans main roster. Their prospects this season were phenomenal in the VHLM with the likes of Marcel Faux, Aleksi Koponen, Maxime Perron and Theo Matsikas. Likely three of these four prospects are locks for the VHL next season so let’s take a look at how they’ve developed. Aleksi Koponen at Titans training camp this past offseason Aleksi Koponen Koponen is Helsinki property due to the GM agency rule, so he was not drafted but is still Helsinki property. He is more of a scorer right now but has been developing more of a passing prowess due to the other Helsinki prospects being scorers as well. Koponen had a great season for the Rush and was basically their best player. Koponen finished the season with 61 goals and 60 assists for 121 points which was good for second in the entire VHLM. He guided his team to a second place finish in the North American Conference which was good for them to make the play-offs. In the the play-offs Koponen put the Rush on his back scoring a total of 9 goals in 10 games for a total of 15 points in 10 games which is pretty impressive. In the end the Rush lost in the second round due to a sweep coming at the hands of the Saskatoon Wild. Koponen will most likely be heading up to be a part of a young and strong Titans team next season. Maxime Perron Perron was drafted last season by the Helsinki Titans and has made big improvements compared to his draft year. Although his development has not gone as fast as the Titans thought, it’s still going at a consistent pace. Perron spent the majority of the season with the Brampton Blades scoring 82 points in 52 games which left him near the top of the leader boards. Then he got traded to the Oslo Storm and Perron fell from the top to around seventh in the leader boards. He record 12 points in 21 games for the Oslo Storm who have been known to play more defensive so Perron saw his production drop. In the play-offs thus far Perron has 4 points in 4 games as the Storm are in a battle with the Watchmen in a 2-2 series right now. Perron can make the Helsinki Roster next season but it’s also possible he could see another season in the VHLM due to the Titans roster. It will be an interesting situation to follow from Helsinki Titans training camp in the off-season. Perron at Titans Training Camp last off-season Theo Matsikas Theo Matsikas was drafted in S43 by the Titans and has been developing in the VHLM since. Matsikas is one of those prospects who are a bit of a project but eventually make their way up into the VHL. Matsikas will more than likely make the jump next season as he is close to ready right now as it is. This season he split time with the Ottawa Lynx and Yukon Rush as a trade deadline trade sent him to the Rush from the Lynx. Although Matsikas has not produced a lot on the score sheet recording 10 goals and 41 assists for 51 points he has been a solid defenseman in the VHLM for the couple seasons he has been there. He had a good play-off by recording 6 points in 10 games for the Rush who were eliminated in the second round. Matsikas will be in the Titans top four next season and will be a solid VHL player for years to come. Faux posing at a Titans photoshoot Marcel Faux Marcel Faux was the best player in the VHLM this season after being drafted in the first round by the Titans last season. Faux led the league in scoring with 139 points with 68 of those points being goals which was top of the league. Faux and Koponen are going to provide a great combination for the Titans for a long time as both are extremely talented. Faux will definitely be on the Titans opening night roster likely on the second line while he works his way up and get used to the VHL game. In the play-offs so far he has 6 points in 4 games as his Saskatoon Wild swept the Yukon Rush in their second round series and are heading to the Founders Cup Final! These prospects along with the top draft picks they hold in this upcoming draft will have the Titans competing in the next few seasons before they become a powerhouse. The Titans General Manager has built up an elite prospect pool along with draft picks and will likely reap the rewards beginning next season.
