I am going into my last season and the depreciation will sting but planning on trying to earn and stay relevant to my team 3. I see that Probert is testing FA and you have some FA coming up to re-sign. Tough loss with losing defensive player 4. I'm a first get player and picked defense. 5. In this weeks “Around the League” were going to chat about the Vancouver Wolves sweep of New York, Prague and Davos battle in the EU, and Pierre Emile Bouchard’s remarkable play: In the thrilling world of the Victory Hockey League playoffs, the action-packed games have taken teams on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. From surprising sweeps to intense fight filled battles and jaw-dropping individual performances., the VHL never fails to deliver the excitement that we all crave. Let’s take a closer look at some of the highlights around the league. Vancouver Wolves sweep tough NY club: The Vancouver Wolves left fans in awe as they dominated the ice and swept a very good New York club in a stunning four game series. Despite a remarkable performance by NY star player, Napoleon Dynamite @thadthrasher, who put an impressive display of skill and athleticism, it was the collective effort of the Wolves that proved too much in the hard-fought series. The Wolves showcased their relentless determination, exceptional teamwork, and the ability to capitalize on opportunities. Led by some potent offensive numbers from Wann Kerr and Nico Pearce @Spartan and some fantastic play from seasoned veteran defenseman, Pierre Emile Bouchard the Wolves showcased why they are considered an elite club in a NA conference full of elite clubs. Pierre Emile Bouchard’s playmaking and powerplay ability combined with the outstanding goaltending efforts of Brandt Fuhr allowed the Wolves to take command of a New York club full of talent that beat the NA favorite Seattle Bears. PLAYER SHOWCASE”: Amidst all the exciting team performances, a standout individual effort captured the attention of fans worldwide. Vancouver defenseman, Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito, has demonstrated his prowess on the offensive end, scoring an astounding five power play goals during the playoffs, 1 GW goal, 21 shots blocked, and 29 hits. Known for his powerful slap shot and precise aim, his five goals were all scored on the power play, punishing opposing clubs for costly penalties. While defensemen are usually valued for their ability to shut down opponents, Bouchard’s ability to provide offense and more so he is the ultimate teammate who selflessly give his all for the club in their effort to win a Continental Cup. Prague Vs Davos in EU: Across the pond in the European Conference, fans are witnessing an epic showdown between the Prague Phantoms and the Davos Dynamo. Both teams have been formidable contenders throughout the season, and so far, their clash doesn’t disappoint. The series has turned out to be a nail-biting affair, with each game pushing their players to the limit. Prague, fresh off a series win against an ALWAYS tough Moscow team, has been battling fatigue as they face a fresh Davos club. The Phantoms have been led by charismatic forward John Jameson @Frankwho’s notched 16 points in 10 games. On the other side, Davos’s defenseman Jake “whiteclaw” Thunder @Thunder has anchored the defense and showcased some his offensive upside each game showing just why he is a common name spoken in defensive award finalists each year. As of now fans eagerly await the EU winner and I am sure the finals will see some jaw-dropping performances by these amazing teams.
  6. Well….its official. The Vancouver Wolves have made their way to the VHL finals and are awaiting the winner of the Prague vs Davos EU finals. Davos is currently up 3-1 and have been pretty dominant getting through some tough clubs in the EU. Vancouver has been led by Wann Kerr @VattghernCZ (16 points), Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito on D (15 points), Dogwood Maple @dogwoodmaple(12 points), Nico Pearce @Spartan (12 points) and Brandt Fuhr has been a brick wall in net. Team defense and some timely power play goals pushed the Wolves to a 4-0 sweep of a tough New York Americans club. Now, either Prague or Davos stands in their way to and it will be a very tough series regardless of who makes the finals. Davos has been on fire with Pete Mitchell and Jake Thunder lighting it up all playoffs. Prague has John Jameson and Nikolas Kauppi to deal with either matchup will be a good challenge. Best of luck Davos and Prague in remainder of series.
  7. 1. I did. I thought Prague (and Riga) were dark horses to be trouble for Davos and Moscow. 2. Upset of the playoffs for sure. 3. We have home Ice so that's a huge advantage for us. Hopefully we can keep it up in round 2. 4. Davos looked great. Going to be great conference final with Prague 5. Vancouver vs Davos- Wolves in 7 6. I am ready for Winter already
  8. You talk like you’re going to get a shift ? Your benched for playoffs
  9. I’d like to do a quick shoutout to some premier defensemen that made their way on to the top in scoring this season. Brian Kowalksi (RIGA)- Where did this dude come from? Prior to this season his most points was 54 in S87. This season he exploded into the best defensemen in the game with 108 points, enough for the #3 spot in total scoring. BUT…. not only did he score like a machine he hits (218) and blocks shots (233). Definitely deserving of some trophies and he’s also heading to the playoffs with a team I have as the dark horse to win the EU. Hammer Voss @BOOM- Another legend dman made it to the #5 spot in scoring overall with 106 points. Out of the 106, 91 were assists which just shows he’s a team first guy. Hammer also lives up to his name with 239 hits and 196 blocked shots. With still two season left in his career I am excited to see how this potential hall of famer ends his career. Great job fellas for representing the Defense
  10. You forgot Brian Payne, S82s newby Dman!!! Lol! Just kiddin! Had a great time in Bratislava FB! Thank you for all the help back then helping me learn the ropes.
  11. Ole @ScottyP is an embarrassment. Talks like he's killer but he's on pace to win Lady Byng year after year. That's if he's not sent down to VHLM again to "work on his game"
  12. Y'all are amazing! Happy Birthday
  13. Today, as I sit at my computer and stare at the standing and stats contemplating what to write about for my 2 TPE I took a deep look at the EU conference. Davos and Moscow are on fire as usual and seem to be on pace to challenge each other for the Victory Cup, or what I like to refer to as the Curse of Winning cup, as it seems it rarely leads to a championship. At least in the limited research I have done, very limited But looking at some other clubs also in the playoff hunt I stopped on Riga and I believe that they have a real chance to be the up setters of the conference. They have a deep club an at the 62-game mark every player has more than 30 points. They have a lights out centermen in the Frenchman @OrbitingDeath , a beast on D in Brian Kowalski @Wheaties who already has 70 assists, a top defensive forward in Vasile Lamb @dlamb, depth, and a great goalie in Henry Tucker Jr @NSG I think this club can cause trouble for whomever they face in the first round. Best of Luck EU
  14. For this week “Around the League” I’m going to highlight some amazing players, talk rookie of year, and some exceptional defensemen. In every sports league, there are individuals who stand out from the crowd with exceptional skills and performance. The Victory Hockey League is no exception, with players who consistently deliver outstanding results on the stat sheet season after season. So lets take a look at some of the top point producers this season. SCORING IN BUNCHES Leading the league in scoring is a fierce battle between two formidable forwards: John Jameson @Frank and Ronan Lavelle @Arce. James, known for lightning-fast speed and deadly accuracy, has been consistent for Prague in the offensive zone since they took him #2 overall in S85. With his slick SH and powerful shot, he has become a nightmare for goaltenders, accumulating impressive stats thus far: 40 G 56 A 96 Points. In the number two spot in points is none other than Ronan Lavelle. Lavelle possesses remarkable hockey IQ and playmaking ability that leaves fans and opponents in awe. His exceptional vision on the ice enables him to create scoring opportunities for himself and teammates. This vision allowed him to get 71 assists last season. Its no question the rivalry between Jameson and Lavelle is pushing both players and their respective teams to new heights. Prague and Moscow simply hate each other, and these two warriors are at the Vanguard. DEFENSE: While offensive prowess often grabs the headlines, the importance of solid defense cannot be overstated. Hammer Voss @BOOMand Brian Kowalski @Wheaties, two towering defensemen, have emerged as defensive and offensive stalwarts for their respective teams. Voss, aptly named for his bone-crushing hits and physicality, is a nightmare for opposing forwards who dare enter his zone. His shot blocking ability and aggressive style of play makes him not only deadly defensively but offensively as well. Kowalski, is cut from the same deadly cloth. Across the stat sheet there is nothing this guy can’t do. Drafted 16th overall in S83 Kowalski has steadily improved to the All-Star he is today. There are many GMs in the league from that time shaking their heads at such a missed opportunity. Goals, Hits, Blocked shots, power play (even a shorthanded goal)– Kowalski does it all. ROOKIE SENSATION In the race for the coveted rookie of the year, the runaway favorite is Jasper Davis @Josh. Davis burst onto the scene with a remarkable combination of speed, skill, and poise. His electrifying style of play has captured hearts in New York. Davis has transitioned nicely to the VHL game after dominating the VHLM and VHLE. His impact on a up and coming NY club has been undeniable, leaving no doubt he is destined for a bright future in the VHL. Finally, as the season progresses these standout players continued to show what makes the VHL such a fun league. John Jameson and Ronan Lavelle showcase their offensive prowess SIM after SIM, making their teams’ rivalry a real thing. While Hammer Voss and Brian Kowalski provide an impenetrable wall of defense (and offense) making the race for the league best defensemen very tight, in a crowded field of studs. More next week
  15. Funny that you say the name Scott Stevens if you look at my profile pic....... fate
  16. Atta boy ScottyP. It only took 3 season for you to finally understand how to be better. Well when I say better I mean at earning TPE, not better at hockey. Your play reminds me of an aging blind donkey who despite playing on a line with two of the very best in the league you can’t seem to wiggle out a secondary assist. I remember your debut article that said you were going to be the next Eric Lindros. Which is kinda accurate if you count his current stats in the Ontario beer leagues that he watches from the stands. have fun in Vegas this weekend and don’t get thrown in jail
  17. Tough to not get a draw mostly I've found. Sometimes it makes no sense who you lose to as well
  18. My bad. Keep punching in NA conference !!! LOL
  19. Season 89 is over the halfway mark now and so now would be a good time to check out the fight leaders at this point of the season. There seems to be an uptick of number of fights this season which I LOVE!!! Lets take a look. Dabnaw Shaw @Dabnad -Defense- (LA). At 604 198 this bruiser has made life hell for opposing forwards and consistently gets over 200 hits a year. This season he has come out chucking fists. 7 total fights with (2) wins to go with 141 minutes in PIMS. Well done Shaw Alfred Champagne @Anthique- RW (DAV)- Ok this monster forward and former 11th overall pick in S85 has shown talent with his fists and on the scoreboard. A heavy hitter and a more disciplined PIM taker, he has 7 total fights (0 wins) this year and 97 min in PIMS. Brian Payne- Defense (VAN)- Payne chucked his way last year (Season 88) with 8 fights and 250 PIMS, almost breaking into the top 25 in PIMS for a season. This year he has committed to lower the PIMS for his new club and dropped some grit. But you can’t change Payne too much. So far Payne has 6 fights with 2 wins and 122 min in PIMS. Vasile Lamb @dlamb RW(RIG)- This former #1 overall pick and defensive forward specialist is ripping through the league again with lots of points and lots of PIMS. He has amassed 222 hits already in 48 games! Insane.. He also has 6 fights and 152 PIMS. Lamb will have well over 2500 hits in his career after this season and I’m sure a few more fights. 276
  20. Crashing your PC 1. In the spirit of theme week, what is one thing you would do if you were the commish of the VHL for a day? I would give free TPE and make the off-season requirements to earn max much lower. 2. If you had to choose a topic for theme week, what would you pick? I would make it Rip on Rip Wheeler theme and give 20 TPE to best dis on a disappointing Wheeler. 3. The trade deadline is looming! Are there any moves that you think we should make, or are you content with our roster? You should trade Jake Thunder IMMEDIATELY!! @Thunder is a liability! LOL 4. If there was an emergency backup situation, how do you think your player would fare in the crease for Davos if called upon? Not well! 5. Have you ever attended an NHL game live before? Yes, several 6. How has NHL free agency gone for your favorite team so far? Not too bad. Oilers picked up Conor Brown but goaltending still scares me for Edmonton. 8. Out of the many upcoming video games set to release this year, which are you most excited for? If any? EA NHL (Although its the same game every year) and NCAA football.
  21. Nice post Scottyp. Bout time you put the bourbon down and knocked out a media spot.
  22. HAHAHA. That would work I think. Ive lost hope looking at his update page. Saddens me as had potential to be the next 4th line star and he squandered it
  23. Q: From 11-11 to 22-12 I am pumped. I was scared that my player was ruining the club for a second. Glad we’re on track. Q I think the slow start. You look at the talent on this club and there is no rhyme or reason to the losses Q right now I think we’re clicking. Wouldn’t change much Q Biggest Suprise this season? Not surprising but Davos’s incredible start. There on fire Q. Biggest Strength? team offense for sure and great chemistry on this club. Payne is so happy to be here in Vancouver
