  1. Axelsson is a good candidate, yeah. I would have reservations about Petenis due to Riga's place in the standings, but given that Skye did win it last season on a Quebec team that had an even worse record, I guess we can't count him out. Plus Petenis has won nine fights, don't forget about that!
  2. Bobby Digital is so good
  3. Goalies have been getting a lot of love in the MVP voting in recent seasons. Four of the last five winners have been goalies (Unassisted in S52 being the other), and it's not unreasonable to think that Apollo Skye could make that five of six. He's currently leading the league with a 0.934 save percentage, and he is clearly one of Quebec's most vital players. He has consistently been a force all season long. If he ends up winning the MVP this season, he'd be just the second goalie to win the Scotty Campbell Trophy twice, the first being Tuomas Tukio (S37, S38). It's hard to say who his toughest competition might be. Not taking too close of a look at the numbers, I think the voters may have an even tougher time deciding than they did last season, though I could be wrong. Perhaps I'm not valuing Skye's performances well enough simply because all the top goalies are doing really well. Although, to be fair, while they do get to play against a lot of non-competitive teams, so to do the skaters on the four top teams get to play against weak opponents. It'll be interesting to see how things end up. I think most interesting of all is that Skye could potentially win a second MVP trophy while not even winning the Shaw Trophy, just as he didn't a season ago. for mist4ke
  4. Of course, the VHL has twice the number of teams, and with only four of them being competitive, it's easy for a top team like Stockholm to win as much as they do. Having lost just six games this season (two OT losses), the Vikings are having one of the best seasons in VHL history. Going into S54, there was hype around the Las Vegas Aces in the VHLM, with talk of a potential undefeated season. They haven't done quite that well, but their 59-8-2 record has them a solid 49 points ahead of the second-place Saskatoon Wild. You could say that the Aces are still the more dominant team, given that vast difference between them and second place, and I suppose I think I'd agree with that. Still, the Vikings are having an incredible season, with 264 goals scored and just 96 allowed. Currently on a 24-game winning streak, Stockholm has wrapped up the Victory Cup, and hopes to carry this success into the playoffs. The franchise is hungry for a championship, having not won since S26. That's a record 27-season Cup drought that may be coming to an end soon. for Maxwell
  5. Bobby Digital takes goalless run deep into season once again Last season, one of the storylines in New York was captain Bobby Digital's extreme aversion to scoring goals. Through 69 games, all 69 of points points were assists, but this came to an end in the opening minute of the Americans' 70th game of the season, as he quickly scored a power play goal against the Cologne Express. That run of assists without scoring a goal was probably a record; but it isn't anymore, as Digital has surpassed that. Having played 69 games thus far in S54, Digital has 80 assists with no goals. As Digital moves to potentially finish the season with no goals, the Americans head into their 70th game against the same team that ended the streak last season, with COL G once again starting in net. Digital has only scored 13 goals in his 429-game career. His ratio of assists to goals make him one of the most prominent pass-only players in VHL history. Nearly 96% of his 314 career points are assists. He scores a goal in just barely over 3% of his games played, and most of those goals were scored in the early part of his career. After netting the puck just once in his rookie season, he scored a career-high five goals in his second season. Since then, the numbers has been declining season after season: four in S51, two in S52, and one in S53. Along with the current season potentially being the first time not scoring any goals, he's currently leading the league in assists, 12 ahead of teammate Unassisted in second. If Digital can hold onto that lead, as he likely will, without scoring, he would certainly be the first Beketov Trophy winner to score zero goals. It would also be the first Beketov Trophy of his career. New York's fearless captain, Bobby Digital The Americans certainly don't need or expect Digital to be scoring goals; they have other players to do that. Diana Maxwell is currently leading the league with 59 goals, while Unassisted and Tom Lincoln are part of a three-way tie for fourth with 49. As a team, New York ranks third in goals, which is lower than they would like to be, but the offense has been picking up lately. Last season, as well, they started scoring more late in the season, which may suggest that Digital is bound to slap one in soon, whether or not he wants to. From what I recall, it also wasn't until it gained serious attention that Digital scored last season, so perhaps I'm cursing him by bringing it up at this time. New York is set to be North America's second seed in the playoffs, with Quebec having passed them this season. Digital hopes to lead the team to a third straight Continental Cup, but based on the team's record against other top teams, they will be underdogs. Even if they can get past the Meute, who they are currently 3-4 against on the season, should they come up against the Vikings in the finals, they'll find themselves facing a team who cleanly swept them in the regular season. But it's the playoffs, and anything can happen. Personally, I'd love to see Digital score his first goal of S54 in the fourth overtime of Game 7 of the finals. for Maxwell

  8. The casters were going through a list of some of the players to watch, and there was mention of a "Zach Voss." Curious to know if this was our Zach Voss, I searched 'Zach Voss mtg' on the Youtube and found, and found some matches. I don't know what our Zach Voss looks like, but based on this video saying this MTG Zach Voss is from St. Louis, I think it's a real possibility. I thought it was pretty neat so I just thought I'd share.
