    HOUSTON BULLS PRESSER!

Hello and welcome to this week's Houston Bulls Presser! One week through the VHLM already wow. It's flying by and the Bulls have already played 10 games so far, lots more to play though! Please answer each question to your best ability.

Answer three questions for 1 capped TPE or six for 2 capped TPE!
For the Week Ending Jan 21th, here are your questions!

    1.  Houston after 1 week: 4-4-2, 4th in the Western Conference. Does our current record reflect the rest of the season?

    2.  How has your player performed through these first 10 games?

    3.  Team Bonding Opportunity!: Ondrej Vencko @Mutti is our well known drug addict. We need to hop the border from Texas to Mexico, what vehicle are we cruising in to partake in illegal activities?

    4.  @Nathan_8 was announced this week as Houston's newest AGM. Do you have any words of advice for Nathan? Anything you would like to say?

    5.  Our captain Trimiskez Artav @jake  and our assistant captain Chris Reynolds Jr @Crstats23 lead the team with 7 goals each. In a 72 game season, how many goals will the two end up with? My guess is around 45-50 goals for each of them. How many goals will your player end with?

    6.  I am deciding to drop everything I have and run! The mafia has caught up to me and Houston needs a new GM now. You have been chosen to fill my spot! As GM of the Houston Bulls what is the first thing you do?

    To claim TPE:

Go to the portal > Player > Manage > Claim Capped > Type > Press Conference

Thank you to everyone who participates in these pressers, I read all of your answers!

    Let's Go Bulls!

    1. After week one our current record does not reflect our team or our future for this season as we just haven't been able to put our great performances together night in and night out.

    2. My player has preformed decent but not up to the standards I'm expecting.

    3. I would choose the older Toyota Hilux like seen in that one episode of top gear as it is indestructible but we would need to mod it to make it more capable of outrunning whomever they send after us.

    4. Im very happy to be Houstons AGM and if I had any advice I would say listen to AJ.

    5. I did the math for this in my last media spot and I would say 50.4 goals.

    6. As I am the AGM alredy I would just continue on doing things the same way that AJ does them.

  2. The Houston Bulls have gotten off to a somewhat shaky start in the first week of the VHLM season with a record of 4 wins 4 losses and 2 overtime losses for 10 points in 10 games played. In terms of points the lead is split between two players in LW - Chris Reynolds Jr with 7 goals and 8 assists, and D - Lucy Leitner with a mere 1 goal but an impressive 14 assists which is very impressive for both players to put up those kinds of numbers in just 10 games played, this puts them at 1.5 points per game and has them on pace for 108 points this season. For goals, the leaders are Chris Reynolds Jr and Trimiskez Artav with 7 goals each which would put them at 0.7 goals per game which puts them on pace for 50.4 goals this season, in the assists column the leader is Lucy Leitner with 14 assists which is 1.4 assists per game which would put her on pace for 100.8 assists this season which is an insane stat. The Bulls leader in plus minus is Lucy Leitner who has been absolutely killing it on both sides of the puck this season, truly a player who could make any team better instantaneously, and she is still improving her game. In terms of penalty minutes the leaders are Lucy Leitner and Barry McOckinner with them both having 12 penalty minutes which is 6 penalties' taken in only 10 games which is an unfortunate stat as Houston has not found their game on the penalty kill. On the physical side of the game, we have another tie in stats with Barry McOckiner and Cody Toland with them both having 28 hits which must be leaving the other team sore the night after they play Houston. In terms of making your shots count Nathan Ecker leads the way with a 21.74% shooting percentage but only 5 goals so maybe Ecker should consider shooting more as I would be sure he would be finding the back of the net more often. Continuing her great play on both sides of the puck Lucy Leitner is leading the way for blocked shots in Houston with 19 blocked shots which is putting her at almost 2 blocks a game which must be great for the goalies who should be buying her some luxurious meals from fancy restaurants. Speaking of goalies, the leader in save percentage for Houston is Herald Benson with a .9% save percentage. Both goalies are splitting the starts with 5 games played each but Ondrej Vencko has more points won for the team with 2 overtime losses and 1 regulation loss compared to Benson's 3 regulation losses. Ondrej Vencko leads the team in goals against average with a 3.33 in that stat column. In conclusion, even though the Houston Bulls have had an inconsistent start to the season their players have had a great start to the season it just seems as if the performances are not going in the way Houston would have liked them to go with many close games that have not been one.

  3. 1. How do you feel you've performed thus far into the VHLM season? I feel like my player has not put up the offensive numbers that I would have liked having .5 pts a game but I do have a +5 and +/- is not the best stat but it does show that i have at least bean a positive impact on the ice.

    2. Do you have a teammate who you feel you can count on to back you up? I feel I can count on all of my teammates In Houston to back me up as the team culture is really something special where everyone gets along and are having great chats.

    3. Is there a player on an opposing team that has her your respect or disdain, if so why? Every player has my respect until they lose it.

    4. Is there a team you're particularily interested in getting drafted by? I would be interested in being drafted by Seattle as my current gm AJ is their agm and their gm Banackock has been very nice to me since I joined.

    5. Do you believe your Squad is capable of winning the Founders Cup this year? Definitely we already have a great team wee just got off to a slow start and we have a lot room to improve.

    6. Who to you is the scariest opponent right now? (Team/player/goalie) San Diego because we have had so many close games with them already but haven't been able to pull through to get the W.

    7. What current M player do you feel a sense of rivalry with? No one but with a lot of M teams being close to Houston in player skill level i could see rivalries growing.

    8. If you had to be stuck on an island with 4 other M players, which would you pick and why? Ondrej Vencko, Benjamin Abenduct, Trimiskez Artav, and Lucy Leitner because we have all had lots of great chats in the Houston lr.

    9. Pick a M team. What would their mascot be? Look like? What would it’s name be? Houston's mascot should be a Bull (duh) that's name starts with a B for alliteration like Barry the Bull or Benny the bull.

    10. Is there anything you’d like to say to the amazing new members of the league? We are all straight W's.

    11. What’s been a surprise to you when it comes to the VHL or your experience in it? How amazing and welcoming the community was because there is not many community's like this and a lot of them are full of pricks.

    12. Are there any members you look up to and why? AJ, and Banackock for the same reasons I said for why I want to be drafted by Seattle lol.

    13. How has your 2024 new year gone so far? Great!

    14. Anything fun and exciting coming up in life for you? The new semester starting inearly February so i will never have to deal with french class again

    15. Your player was abducted by aliens. They probe you and steal important data from your hockey brain. What do the aliens learn about human life on planet earth because of your player? That our brains are full of the strangest most random shit that we can think of.

To be fair, have to write THE WEEK OF. The only way you can claim future weeks is by writing the bigger media spots or I believe 4 graphics or a longer podcast.

    500 words = 1 week

    1,000 = 2

    1500 = 3

    2000 = 4

Don’t burn yourselves out. Take it week by week. We can max out on media spots, graphics and podcasts. Only 1 set of press conferences, VHL.com articles etc. HOWEVER, with that in mind, I sometimes cap out at 12/12 but still put out other content. My team needs press conferences and I like to create a buzz, activity and fun in the community.

yeah im gonna do 12/12 every week or how close to that I fell like getting but ill add to the "buzz" by replying to other topics

These guys are slaying it with pumping out content and even going as far as donating. On top of this, we’ve had old members return. Members like @Fire Tortorella, @Victor, @Benson, @Pifferfish, @solyom, @WildfireMicro , @fonziGG (lol), @Seabass, @Rhynex Entertainment and even  @eagle_3450…a look at the draft pool at the moment and see how far you have to scroll down to start finding the inactive or “soon to he’s”. We’ve done good work this off-season recruiting. We’ve also done a lot better at retaining new and gaining old members… not too bad if you ask me!

Some of us newbies have provided enough for like a month of tpe in advance (def not me tho im just gonna go one week at a time)

  6. Nathan Ecker was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on November 5th, 2007, into a loving family with his awesome mom and dad who helped him achieve his hockey dream but also an amazing sister, and the world's best dog. He has been lacing up his skates to get out on the ice since he was as young as 3 years old. Not soon after he began playing for the AAA Hamilton Huskies where Nathan quickly impressed and was a star for them until his last season of youth hockey, which was last year. One reason Nathan Ecker’s passing game is as good as it is, is because when he was 8 he was going in to take a shot from the high slot and got hit hard in the head causing a concussion which made him shy away from shooting as he was afraid of getting injured in that fashion again, this caused him to develop his passing, and hockey IQ so he could set people up and avoid contact like that from happening again. Even with the set back from that injury where a lot of people would have chosen to quit Nathan did not and decided to keep going due to a strong love for the game of hockey, his dad who got him into hockey to begin with, and his mentality that causes him to keep pushing to be the best he can. That was not his only injury that set him back during his youth as 5 years later when Ecker was 13 years old, he was caught at a bad angle when he was tripped and he slammed into the boards foot first causing a high ankle sprain on his right ankle which luckily did not serve as a major setback in his career as he made a pretty good recovery thanks in part to him having to wait on the sidelines for a while much to his chagrin due to doctor's orders but once he got back Nathan began playing at the same level he left off at after coming back from the ankle injury, but every now and then Nathan can screw up his ankle for a few days at time as he returned without a fully healed ankle against his doctors best wishes as he could not stand missing out on any more hockey. While in high school Nathan decided to join his school's varsity hockey team on top of his normal hockey team which added a lot more to his schedule, but he was fine with it as it meant more time doing what he loved. Ecker being on multiple teams did cause him to be exhausted from all the work he was putting in on both teams, but he persevered and built up some amazing stamina which allows him to be capable of taking on more ice time during his games. Furthermore, even with his tight schedule Nathan still managed to be a straight A student averaging a 95% through grades 9 and 10 as Nathan is still 16 that means he has this year in grade 11 and next year in grade 12 until he can graduate from high school. Nathan must be extremely popular among the students as a professional hockey player especially among the ladies and he is quite a handsome young man, now with all that said Nathan becoming a professional hockey player has caused him to be forced to drop his high school's team as the workload would be too much. Ecker now is overjoyed to be a part of the Houston Bulls for s93 of the VHLM, he signed for the legendary team as waiver signing along with many others such as Ondrej Vencko, Lucy Leitner, Dylan Boland, a fellow Nathan in Nathan Schwarts, Charles Losfeld, Cody Toland, Deez Nuts, and Filip Zinek. Furthermore, Nathan has been incredibly happy to work with the staff at Houston and is taking their advice to heart to improve his game so he be the best at hockey he possibly can. In his first two games as a Houston Bull Ecker managed to notch one assist in a 6-4 win over the Saskatoon Wild and was kept off the score sheet in a 2-1 shootout loss to the San Diego Marlins. Even though Ecker only has 1pt in two games this season averaging .5 pts a game he is still set to have a great rookie season if he continues developing at the insane pace he currently is developing at, he may also be one of the best offensive threats we will ever see in VHL one day, but we won't know that unless someone reading this has a time machine. In Conclusion, Nathan has had to put in a lot of hard work and overcome many obstacles that others may have not had the strength to overcome just to make to this point where he has a long way to go in his hockey career.

  7. A new prospect has burst onto the scene in the last few days and is making his debut tomorrow for the Houston Bulls. Nathan Ecker had played many games as a star winger for the AAA Hamilton Huskies before the Waiver signing that he made with Houston on January 7th, 2024.

Ecker had an astonishing season with the AAA Hamilton Huskies getting 170 points in 82 games with 62 goals 108 assists.

    Strengths

-Good passing coupled with good offensive vision to help set his teammates up well.

-Good speed and skating to help with getting to the puck first and getting past defenders with speed.

-solid deeking which will definitely help with getting past the defender in combination with his speed.

-Has good shooting to help bury the puck when he ca not be setting up teammates.

-Good size standing at a frame 6'0" 190lbs making him able to take and give contact without sacrificing other major areas.

-He is fully committed to any team he is on.

-Willing to go into the corners.

-Has a high work ethic that has him working on improvements any hour of the day.

-Has excellent communication on and off the ice with his teammates.

    Weaknesses

-Needs to work on his defensive game as it can be lackluster at times to say the least.

-Gets in his head too much and ends up being too harsh and critical of himself.

-Can get tunnel visioned on the ice and tune out noise causing him to not hear his teammates or coaches.

-Makes a lot of flashy passes about 60% do connect but with his passing skills he could do way better with passing and setting people up if he cuts down on these, he could be one of the best play makers we will ever see.

-Puts himself in positions that make him very prone to big contact that could cause injuries.

    Expectations for the upcoming season

With the new season coming tomorrow Ecker has a lot he needs to prove to show that he will be a VHL capable player. I do believe that Nathan will be able to succeed though as he is a highly competitive player who will fight tooth and nail to get to the top. Now with that out of the way I think that Nathan Ecker will have an adequate rookie season getting about 30-45 points which would be averaging about .5 points a game which is a reasonable expectation for a rookie.
