  1. Nathan Ecker has been continuing his racing endeavours over the past week having officially opened up a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team named Ecker Brothers Racing. This truck series team has anounced that they are going to field the 8, and 25 trucks if they can find drivers. Ecker has already bought a race shop and all the essentials for this team as well as getting enough staff for both cars. This is yet another distraction for the 16 year old right winger who should be focusing on his hockey career and not blowing his paycheck on other things.

Nathan Ecker's lack of focus on hockey has caused him to have a dry spot in production as he has not been doing great recently with his on ice play. Ecker's 43 points in 63 games doesn't look bad until you realize that the majority of those points came within the first half of the season and that Nathan Ecker started dropping in productivity before we got to the halfway point.

    HOUSTON BULLS PRESSER!

Hello and welcome to this week's Houston Bulls Presser! Trade Deadline is upon us and playoffs are coming quick. The Bulls have seen a slight drop-off in recent performance but with a few new additions we hope to make a solid run this season! Please answer each question to your best ability.

Answer three questions for 1 capped TPE or six questions for 2 capped TPE!
For the Week Ending Feb 11th, here are your questions!

    1.  We aren't as good as we used to be, at least in the past 10 games played. 3-6-1 through our last 10 games, what do we need to do as a team to get back on the winning track?

    2. With our roster now set we do not need to add any new players to the team this season. What is the best feeling about being part of a full 12-6-2 roster? Are there any negatives you find?

    3. Trade Deadline is here and Houston has two new faces joining us to complete our roster. @CowboyinAmerica was traded from Halifax and @KRZY signed from waivers, these two are fresh meat in the locker room. What is something these players should know about Houston and our team? Are there any cool spots in Houston you want them to know about?

    4. Playoffs are always in the back of my mind. Since drafting, trading, and signing each player this season, my goal is always to get to the playoffs. Looks like we got a good shot this season to make it! What is the one team you DO NOT want to go up against in the 1st round? VHLM playoffs take the top 8/10 teams in the league.

    5. I have always loved Taco Tuesdays, Wine Wednesdays, Freaky Fridays, etc... Which day of the week is your go to "event day"? Is there a day of the week where you have a routine meal or event?

    6. It's GM day! I literally just made that up. For GM day you are required to give me something. This "something" can be anything! A unicycle? Sure! Some baby turtles and a tank for them to live in? Thank you very much! What is one thing you would like to give to me, your GM, if you could give me anything?

    To claim TPE:

Go to the portal > Player > Manage > Claim Capped > Type > Press Conference

Thank you to everyone who participates in these pressers, I read all of your answers!

    Let's Go Bulls!

    1. We need to get focused on playing good hockey as well as just keeping our heads down and working hard.

    2. There is no need to add any players at this point in the season we just need to let everything work itself out. The best thing about being in a full roster is the fact that you get enough ice  time but so much that you get dead tired after every shift.

    3. I think our new friends should know that Houston has a great environment surrounding the team.

    4. I do not want to go up against the Marlins because they have been our Achilles heel all season.

    5. Taco Tuesdays has to be everyone's go to "event day".

    6. As your AGM I will be giving you a random player i found who is definitely inactive but is worth a shot at going after🤣, also I feel like I should be entitled to a gift as well because AGM is a GM position kind of.

  3. Since the last time we brought up the young wingers racing addiction Nathan Ecker has only seemed to be more invested in racing leading to worse performance in his hockey career. Even though Ecker's on ice performance may have taken a dip his on track performance has only gotten better through this time. Next, even wit Ecker dragging Benjamin Abenduct back into the racing world with him it hasn't seemed to have had much of an effect on the superstar defence man  maybe Nathan Ecker should focus on his playing before his racing.

Ecker has also continued his sim racing spending even more time behind the rig instead of training this could be the downfall of a once highly touted prospect who was destined for greatness in the VHL. Hopefully the young star can emerge from this slump and get his prioritys straight to continue his bright future and he has a lot of time to do so as he is only 16.

-John Wickerbum with the Houston Star

  4.  With the theme week being all star I decided to write about if the Houston Bulls held an inter team all star competition, as well as selecting 3 on 3 team if there was an all VHL 3 on 3 all star tournament. Firstly, I want to talk about the Bulls inter team all star skill competition that would feature things such as hardest shot, shooting accuracy, fastest skater, and stick handling all the same as you would have seen them in real life during the NHL all star skills competition. To start off these predictions my guess for the hardest shot is Timiskez Artav because he is tied for the highest strength on the team and he has the second best slap shot on the team which are both great skills to have for the hardest shot competition. Next, for the shooting accuracy competition I would select Tyler Lawson with his mind blowing 22.22% shooting percentage on 14 goals in 30 games this season as the late joiner has been a bright spot to come out of Houston's centre trouble to plague them earlier on this season. For the fastest skater I would have to go with Chris Reynolds Jr because he has the highest skating rating on the entire Houston Bulls roster at 52 STHS rating which would be the only factor playing into the fastest skater competition. Finally, for the final stick handling competition my guess for the winner would be Barry McOckiner becasue he has the highest STHS puck handling rating at 51 as well as having the most tpe put into stick handling and the 4th most into deeking which makes him a great contender for this competition.

For the 3 on 3 teams I will do one team with the 3 best objective playersbut i will try and remove all bias and focus on the stats of the players. For team #1 I will select Trimiskez Artav as the  winger due to his elite play leading the team in points with 63 in 46 games which is just an astounding number to show for his insane play this season. For the centre I would have to select Tyler Lawson for his almost point per game performance with 29 points in 30 games as the middle man is leading all centres in points with his astounding play which must be turning heads this season and making a great case for the upcoming VHLE draft. Next for the defender even though its is very close between Lucy Leitner and Benjamin Abenduct having them almost Identical in stats I would have to go with Lucy Leitner as i feel she has been slightly better this season by a very slim margin this season. Finally,  for the net minder I would select Ondrej Vencko who has been the better goalie to this point in the season earning his starting role even with his worse save percentage and goals against average. Ondrej Vencko has played 10 more games and has almost double Herald Bensons wins and most of the Czech net minders losses have been caused by the team leaving him out to dry with poor discipline and a bad penalty kill.

In conclusion, these are the people I would select to win these events and my selections for a 3 on 3 team.

If you were not included in this no hard feelings this was just a fun way to speculate and get me some free tpe.

With Season 92 now past its halfway point and the trade deadline one week away, it's a natural time to consider which VHLM players have been most important to their teams so far.  It is the opinion of this writer that the VHL/VHLE/VHLM should have All-Star Games and in lieu of official selections, I decided to make my own selections and put together two All-Star rosters for the VHLM.

The Format: I envision the VHLM All-Star Game as a 3-on-3 contest because that format seems best suited to showcasing the skills of the most talented players in the league.  I selected one team each for the VHLM's Western and Eastern Conferences.  Each team consists of 12 skaters and 3 goalies-- that's 8 forwards and 4 defenders making up 4 lines. I would propose playing a 45 minute game with 3 periods at 15 minutes each.

The Selections: I think any good All-Star roster should include players from every team in the league, but should ideally not omit any players who deserve to be there.  Thankfully, it was possible to create these lineups with at least two deserving representatives from each team (at least one skater), and no more than four from any single team.  There were inevitably a few deserving players that needed to be left off to make up these numbers and I will recognize them at the end.  Choosing goalies was the hardest because it's very difficult to compare their performances with drastic variations in games played and team quality.  I chose 20 games played as the minimum threshold for goalies who were selected, which unfortunately eliminated some goalies who have performed well in a small sample size.  I ordered the roster lists below by position and team alphabetically.

In addition to selecting All-Star teams from the Western and Eastern Conferences, I also wanted to recognize the top players from the entire league in a All-VHLM Team lineup.  For this full lineup of five skaters and a goalie, I selected the best players from each particular position (LW, C, RW, D, G).

    All-VHLM First Team

(LW) Forum Content - (C) Antonia Bucatini - (RW) Yermolai Nabokov
    (D) Bric Sheithaus - (D) Bilbo Teebaggins
    (G) Jorgen Lovstrom

Congratulations to all of the above players on their very successful seasons to this point.  I think having an actual simulated All-Star Game would be a lot of fun just to see how combinations of the top players produce alongside each other.  I apologize to anyone who felt they should be included on the list.  There were a lot of deserving players and a number I listed who just didn't fit based on the criteria, despite having All-Star worthy seasons.  Adam, for example, centers possibly the hottest line in the VHLM right now between Devote and Shcrute.  I really wanted to include him but couldn't justify dropping another player.

If you saw things differently or have other players you want to shout out, please feel free to tag them in a reply so they can also be recognized!

    Review

Really good media spot Lucy, I loved the attention to detail with it and all of the work you put in to find the information. Firstly I really like the selections you made and believe that they are very true to how this season has played out up to this point. I really liked how you put the stats of the players next to their names to help give the reader a better understanding of why they were chosen for your all star team.

    HOUSTON BULLS PRESSER!

Hello and welcome to this week's Houston Bulls Presser! Halfway through S92 and the Bulls are still on fire! Lots of positives to build on each week. Please answer each question to your best ability.

Answer three questions for 1 capped TPE or six questions for 2 capped TPE!
For the Week Ending Feb 4th, here are your questions!

    1.  We have officially crossed the halfway point of this season, S92. Through a half season of play, what are you overall thoughts on our team?

    2. It's Theme Week! This season's theme for Theme Week is "All-Star". What are you planning on doing for Theme Week? Have you already submitted a Media/Graphic/Podcast?

    3. Weekly tasks sometimes turn into a bore. VHL.com's might not be as interesting as they use to be, or you may get trivia wrong and lose all motivation... If you could choose a new way to earn TPE, what would your task of choice be?

    4. Halfway through the season is usually when players finally feel their groove. Daily games create great routines! What is your routine in order to be ready for each and every single game?

    5. If you had to choose between only winning team awards, or only winning individual awards, which would you choose and why?

    6. Almost February! One month of 2024 gone already, has anything cool/interesting happened to you in this first month?

    To claim TPE:

Go to the portal > Player > Manage > Claim Capped > Type > Press Conference

Thank you to everyone who participates in these pressers, I read all of your answers!

    Let's Go Bulls!

    1. At this stage in the season my thoughts are that we are a good team with a lot of upside who could be strong contenders for a founders cup.

    2. I do not know what I will be doing for the theme week.

    3. I think a new way TPE could be earned was through game performances so it rewards you for a good game.

    4. Before games I like to get in the groove by focusing up and locking in with stretches and hand-eye exercises.

    5. I would choose team awards because I want my team to succeed more than anything else even if that means personal sacrifices.

6.Nothing cool or interesting has really happened to em this month I have bee n focused on school for  the most part because of finals.

  7. Good media spot, it was really interesting and a great read for me. The part about the cold front was spot on as even though it may be cold for Houston for many of our Canadian players and Canadian readers it would be normal late fall weather. Secondly the bulls Hot streak has been HOT and you did a great job of showing it and how important it has been to our season as well as our losses that were brutal during this streak. In conclusion it was pretty good 7.5/10.

  8. Nathan Ecker is having an underwhelming season putting up 26 points in 36 games which is not where he was expected to be at this season as we are almost halfway through it. The young winger has 1 point in the last 4 games with it coming as an assist which is worrying for his offensive production which was one of his strong points as noted by many scouts entering this season. He only has 9 goals in 36 games played which puts him on pace for 18 goals which is abysmal for a player of his offensive calibre, for comparison Ecker has 17 assists which are his strong point which puts him on pace for 34 assists which is pretty solid but not exactly what you would be expecting from a great passer like Ecker. Nathan's concerning numbers have posed a massive scare for the Houston Bulls front office causing them to have doubts about his perceived superstar breakout season that has been a complete dud to this point in the season. In conclusion, Ecker has put up concerning numbers this season and may need to look into methods of getting his game back together.

  9. Recently Houston Bulls right winger Nathan Ecker has been exploring some new hobbies that have been taking away from his commitment to the VHLM which is having a serious affect on his development and performance on the ice. Eckers performance has been less than stellar recently having only 26 points in 36 games which is not looking good for the young gun as we reach the halfway point of the VHLM season. This poor performance is most likely caused by his taking up of new hobbies these past few weeks.

Ecker seems to have taken his passion for racing to the extreme this last week having bought a late model and has been skipping practices to go and race the late model he bought. This new hobby could be a pivotal factor in his career as racing is a very dangerous sport and if he gets injured in a race that could mean big trouble for the young emerging star. A reporter found Nathan at the race track and asked him about his recent racing endeavours and Ecker responded "ever since I was a little kid my dream has been to either be professional hockey player or a NASCAR driver, and now that I'm a professional hockey player I haven't been able to shake the urge to get back on the track and now I gave in and I'm feeling the best I have in my life being able to race and play hockey professionally is where I want to be right now". This story about Nathan Ecker's racing side quest is not over yet and we will be keeping you updated with any new news when it emerges.

The young Bull has also taken up the hobby of sim racing where he has been spending many more hours on the sim rig at than at the track which was already a concerning amount. Ecker was spotted in many Iracing lobbies where he was dominating the field in all of them winning all but one race. Ecker also bought a new shop that houses his $250,000 late model and his $10,000 sim rig as well as hiring staff to work on his late model and accompany him to races which must be eating up his paycheck.

Nathan Ecker was also spotted at the race track with Bulls superstar defence man Benjamin Abenduct who both met a long time ago through youth hockey and bonded over racing. Will this excursion between the two 16 year old Bulls be a concern for the team or will it be good for their already strong bromance. These two have also been spotted talking to other racers about acquiring another late model potentially for Abduct which could cause two big pieces of the Bulls squad to loose focus on hockey and focus more on a racing career.

This story is only begging and we will be keeping tabs on it as it evolves and will update you with any new information that may come out regarding to it.

    1. You get to choose your own goal song that will play whenever you personally score.  What song are you choosing and why?

    2. What is your first hockey memory, either playing or watching the game?

    3. What is your jersey number and why did you choose it?

    4. You can select any player on any team in the VHL, VHLE, or VHLM to play on your line, D-pair, or be your tandem backup if you're a goalie.  Who do you choose and why?

    5. You're going on a long road trip with the team and you can bring either your favorite book or your favorite movie, not both.  Which one do you bring? And what is your favorite book or movie?

    6. You get to learn any skill in the world the way Neo learns Kung Fu-- it's instantaneously uploaded into your mind and you can perform it flawlessly.  What skill would you learn and why?

Feel free to answer any or all of the questions, or choose your 3 favorite and add 3 more!

    1. If I had to pick a goal song for when I score it would have to be 7 nation army because its a great song and it will get the team buzzing after a goal.

    2. My first Hockey memory is on the ice when I was first learning how to skate in a local training camp.

    3. My Hockey number is 8 because I love racing and my favourite NASCAR driver wore the #8.

    4. If I had to select any player to be on my line I would select Trimiskez Artav as we have great chemistry in the locker room and I feel our playing styles would work really well together, now the main issue is who goes to their off wing.

    5. I would bring my favourite movie The Fast and the Furious.

    6. I would learn the skill of being able to get a goal and an assist in one game as I can only score goals or get assists at the moment.
