This season we saw several defensemen have a breakout season offensively, and launching themselves into award discussions. Specifically, Ryuji Sakamoto @der meister, who led the league in assists with 77 and added 16 goals for a total of 93 points! Also nominated for the Valiq is Hammar Voss @BOOM, Voss led defensemen in goals scored with 31 and also had 53 assists for a total of 84 points between stints with Moscow and Helsinki. Our final nominee is Skor McFleury @Alex who led defensemen in points with 96, of those 25 were goals and 71 were assists.

Similarly to last season we had a few players put on a defensive clinic in S90. Leading the way in blcoked shots was Jake Thunder @Thunder with 221 blocked shots. Additionally, Sakamoto @der meister and Skor McFleury @Alex were also spectacular defensively with 196 and 158 shots blocked respectively. Our final nominee is Brian Payne @Scurvy who laid the body all season with a remarkable 245 hits!

As previously mentioned a lot of defensemen had remarkable seasons on both ends of the ice, including but not limited to Skor McFleury @Alex and Ryuji Sakamoto @der meister who have been nominated for both previous awards and both had great stat lines! Our other nominees include Jake Thunder @Thunder who led the league in shots blocked and had a decent hit total while minimizing his penalties and was 3rd in defensemen points; Hammar Voss @BOOM who led defensemen in goals; and Brian Payne @Scurvy who had a great end to their career with their 6th consecutive 80+ point season.

This season we saw a few rookies really step into the spotlight, one of the biggest surprises was the S90 1st overall pick YaBoi Oven @Doomsday, who 0.57 points per game as a depth defensemen on a good team. Another one of the big surprises this season came with Jeff Lewis @nerji who led rookies in scoring by a remarkable 15 points as they finished the season with 66 points. Our other two nominees, Tord Yvel @Trazan and Steve Lattimer @pugsood both finished with 50 and 51 points respectively. The former of which led rookie defensemen in scoring.

As usual we’ve got one of the previous winners nominated for this trophy with the S89 winner in John Jameson @Frank, this season Jameson continued their great two-way finishing 3rd in points and obliterating opponents with 311 hots along the way, Jameson also added 37 shots blocked, a decent total for a forward. Jason @Jason kranz also had a great two-way season with a remarkable total of 115 points, and with 285 hits! Of that Jason’s goal total was just great with a league leading 55 goals! Our final nominee Perry Laperriere @KaleebtheMighty had a great season as well with 88 points, 282 hits, and a great penalty minute total of only 141, the lowest of all nominees.

This season saw one goalie really steal the show with Lachlan Summers @kirbithan posting a ridiculous 0.938 SV% and would also lead all goalies in wins (49), GAA (2.06), shoutouts (7), and assists (6). Our other nominees are Merome Dilson @MexicanCow123 and Matt Murdock @Acydburn who both had very good seasons with a 0.928 and 0.930 SV% respectively.

Many general managers made the decision to go for it this season and of those 4 standout with @FrostBeard, who brought in Jason and Ryuji Sakamoto to name a few and who both took massive steps forward. @Moon, who traded for Ronan Lavelle and Tomas Sogaard, @samx brought in Landon Wolanin and Hammar Voss to round out a competitive roster, and @InstantRockstar who made the trade of the offseason by trading for both Napoleon Dynamite and Svatopluk Puk in one fell swoop! All of these GMs had fantastic seasons, but only one can win the trophy…

In the playoffs we saw a lot of different story lines which culminated in Prague winning their first Continental Cup in franchise history as they swept the Los Angeles Stars in the finals. On route to the cup there were 3 players who stood out above the rest, they were; John Jameson @Frank who led the league in points with 24, goals with 11 and hits with 95; Faith Hope Love @MMFLEX recorded a great 20 points as a defensemen, and led the VHL in assists with 16; Lastly, Matt Murdock @Acydburn was spectacular with a 0.936 SV% and a 2.29 GAA!

In season 90 a few players put their team on their back and earned their way onto the most valuable player ballot, they include; Lachlan Summers @kirbithan, Summers put together one of the best goaltending seasons in recent history and played a vital role in Davos winning the Victory Cup; Todd Cooke @KRZY, Cooke led the league in assists and points with 77 and 118 respectively, they had 29 more points than anyone else on their team; Jason @Jason kranz, Jason broke out in a big way this season to lead the league in goals with 55 and finish 2nd in points with 115, they led a high-powered DCD offense and had 15 more points than anyone on their team; Lastly, Ronan Lavelle @Arce, Lavelle a major acquisition for Toronto last season proved their worth, leading the team offensively with 95 points.
