Head of Point Tasks

It's been so long since @DollarAndADream  took the job that I don't think I've ever even had to write a job posting for this one but alas, he has stepped down and it's not a job that's needed every day but important when it comes up.

The Head of PT position basically works alongside the Updaters and RGB teams to make sure PT's are running smoothly. This means mostly handling complaints about plagiarism and lack of effort being put into things but also judging whether certain things count as league related and that sort of thing. They are given a lot of freedom to make decisions for themselves without really needing the oversight of the staff in most cases. Pay for the job is 2 TPE/week.

If you are interested in the opening, please post in this thread. Please do not contact the Commissioners outside of this thread, we will reach out to the chosen candidate privately.

***Please refrain from making comments regarding any candidates and their "worthiness" of being hired for this job, positive or negative. Any comment that is not an application will be removed to maintain a clean list of actual candidates, and (I hate that this actually needs to be said, but...) any member bashing will not be tolerated.***

Is there any real reason why this needs to be its own job? Why not give one of the existing updaters the additional duty of having final say on any flags. There's like five of us that have been doing this for 2+ years, any one of us could do that just fine for the what, 2-5 updates each week that may need a final input?

We’re more than fine with a current updated taking the job in addition to keeping their updating duties, it doesn’t necessarily need to be an “outside hire” so to speak.

How else would we give our friends another 2 TPE!

Could be because of a certain situation that has recently occurred involving plagiarism 🥸

All updaters can do in this case is deny the TPE. Any further punishment is up to the mods.

What Eno said + stuff like that only really comes up once others in the community (such as yourself) notice that sort of minutiae. We don't put every Media Spot or VHL.com article into Turnitin or whatever. We don't know every piece of content on the forums to be able to identify plagiarism immediately.

And yeah when I bumped it to mods, it was confirmed that head of PT doesn't issue bans or punishment of the sort. So really all it is, is the final person who handles flagged updates. Which a few updaters have been doing for months/years already when flagged updates are left in the queue for days on end. BoG makes changes to PTs and their guidelines anyways.

FWIW I would like to have the position have a bit more authority to put forth thoughts on them when warranted. The mods have enough on their plates.

Unrelated to the recent issue that went to mods I think it is definitely necessary to have someone who can give a final say on whether something is “worthy” if it becomes flagged or controversial.  Also someone that can recognize that for both written pieces and graphics.
