Devise got a reaction from BOOM in The Season For One Goal Games
We are 45 games into the 37th season of the VHL. Since S34 the league has been experiencing the positive effects of strong recruitment, good new member retention, positive benefits of new ideas such as Welfare and VHLM changes. This has lead to more and more members who create VHL capable players. As it finally caught up with the league, parity among the majority of the teams in the VHL started to rise. It was at an all time high in S36 when we saw playoff races determined, Victory Cup winners determined all in the final few days of the sim.

Season 37 looks to take the league parity to an all time high. In 45 games, there have 20 games only decided by a single goal. That is 44% of the games played. So it is nearing half of the games played thus far in the season being one goal games. Every single team in the VHL except for one has participated in a one goal game. Every single VHL team except for one has at least 5 points in only 9 games played. The only real stinker this season appears to be the Helsinki Titans. While the Wranglers are also in the second year of a rebuild and their only wins come against the Titan team.

If you break it down by team by team the Seattle Bears despite their successful off season have the most one goal games in the league. All of them. They have played 9 game and every single game has been decided by one goal. The official team breakdown is as follows.

    Seattle Bears - 9
    Quebec City Meute - 7
    Davos Dynamo - 5
    Toronto Legion - 4
    Riga Reign - 4
    Vasteras Iron Eagles - 4
    New York Americans - 3
    Cologne Express - 3
    Calgary Wranglers - 1
    Helsinki Titans - 0

That is an alarming number of one goal games for every single team not named Calgary or Helsinki. Every single team has at least 30 percent of their games played be decided by a single goal. Considering scheduling differences, and some teams having played Helsinki and Calgary you can expect this stat to continue at a very high rate. If there is one thing Season 37 is showing, it is that the top 8 teams in this league are all very close together in terms of rosters. While some certainly have edges over the others, games that come against teams other than Helsinki/Calgary are going to be close affairs, and one slip up in a key game or a key stretch of the season could cost a team that appears to be a contender a playoff spot entirely. Watch out VHL, Season 37 looks to be the most competitive yet.

TL;DR tons of one goal games this season. 44% of all games exactly. Crazy how this is happening despite all the trades but it appears as if league parity continues to redefine a new high as the seasons go on. Not many free wins for teams this season.

Simple, Seattle was too busy farming mid to notice that Davos was rushing top with upgraded creeps. Easily the real reason you guys couldn't get any shots on net.

I think I'm falling in love with Kuznetsov here.....dear god that guy can dangle around and just make some great plays to keep the puck in play and put it in dangerous spots. Two goals in this game basically generated by his creativity.

    Neat Idea

I think you could maybe do something like theme it off coaching with specific players instead of weight room ice time etc. Things like say.

    Power Play Coach
    +1 Scoring or Passing
    +1 Skating or Puck Handling

    Defensive Specialist Coach
    +1 Defense or Strength
    +1 Faceoffs or Checking

    Mental Hockey Coach
    +1 Leadership
    +1 Discipline

    Goalie Coach
    +2 Any Attribute

Devise got a reaction from Advantage in Logan Laich Called Up To The Big Leagues
It was an interesting off season for Logan Laich. After spending half a season in the VHLM and winning a Founders Cup Laich worked as hard as he could to get himself in shape to hopefully make his debut with a VHL team in S37. After being drafted fourth overall by the Americans, Laich had extensive conversations with General Manager Chris Miller. It came down to seeing how well Laich looked during training camp and making the best decision for Logan going forward.

At the end of training camp Logan was just shy of the requirement for practice hours in to be automatically making the VHL. He ended up getting drafted in the VHLM by the Bern Royals in the first round, something that shocked him as he was trying to inform all GM's who had interest he was going to do what it took to make the VHL this season.

Ultimately, Logan sat down with his GM, Chris Miller and talked about his future. Miller felt that Laich certainly was ready to take on the load of the VHL but he also felt that the best spot for Logan would be in the VHLM. Logan would have a chance to be a super star on a solid team in Bern if he stayed down. Logan expressed his interest again to make the main club, stating that his practice hours would be up to the required limit in no time at all, and that he would be able to do whatever it takes to help New York going forward. At the end of the day Miller, who is trying to make his team as good as he can make it this season agreed to call Logan Laich up and play on the Americans this season.

Logan will play for the big club with less practice hours than most rookies and with a lot of ground to make up. But his role on an improving club will be vital as a depth player and a physical presence. Logan is excited to see what the action of the VHL brings him.

If a player doesn't even bother to come on and claim Welfare despite the fact that they are visiting the site and it takes ZERO effort, then they should be classified as an inactive.

Look forward to when you get called up RandomHero. I know when the draft discussion was going on earlier in the season I told Chris he should select you, because I felt you had the best upside of all the first gens. I still feel that way. You have a good handle on what it takes in this league and I felt with enough motivation you could be the next great first gen. Here is hoping you stay on track.

Thank you again for hitting it on the head Kendrick. It isn't about me, the fact is we are asking new people who join this league to wait a whole week as shit goes on like awards and other things before they find out what they are doing? Go check previous season, Draft is one of the first big things we do in the off season and rightfully so. It allows everything else to open up.

I'm aware there are time constraints and that certainly needs to be addressed.

So Drafts are taking place after pre season has started? Doesn't that sound silly to you? Should happen before rosters are even updated/added to for pre season etc to be honest.

You miss the fact Seth that the storyline was about HHH screwing Bryan from being champion. Because Bryan doesn't belong as Champion. The ultimate triumph is about Bryan getting the title. I promise you the crowd cares more about Bryan winning the title than they do anything else he could do right now, including the streak. That is where this story line ends. With HHH infuriated as Bryan holds the title and an entire crowd erupts in a Yes chant. That is the moment. Every single smart wrestling person also recognizes this. JR, Foley, Austin etc. All of them have been critical of WWE for not knowing that the time is now for Bryan. Otherwise it'll fade the longer they prolong this.

In the end I hope it's a 5-5 tie but wouldn't be upset with either. Equally deserving arguments made for both. I think Devise needs to take a course in concise writing.

It was all in the coins....they foretold the end....

Good series Toronto, Rift/Remy traded games were they played bad. Ultimately it seemed to me this whole playoffs Quebec could only win when Rift played good. No offense to my teammates as Kellinger, Grigs, tons of our boys had good overall playoffs but we would rarely be able to bail Rift out. And finally, in the season I retire him Rift decides to be inconsistent for a playoffs. Good riddance to Two Face, and good luck in the finals Remy. Win a Cup for you and Toronto, you guys deserve it!
