Victor got a reaction from STZ in Historical Significance
My time on the Mag Editorial didn't quite work out as I planned so I've decided to jump back into my comfort zone with some VHL history. Instead of bombarding you all with historical facts however, I've proposed a new column entitled “Historical Significance” where I will try to pick a recent event or achievement every week and put it into perspective in VHL history.
The inaugural edition of this column will be looking at Kimmo Salo, the recently-drafted new franchise Helsinki Titans goaltender. In fact, that's a false advertisement as Salo won't be mentioned much from here on out. What struck me as interesting at the recent VHL draft was that Salo, a Finnish goalie, was drafting by our Finnish team: the Titans. In fact, the recently traded Tuomas Tukio, Helsinki's go-to guy (or at least when HEL G was unavailable) for six seasons, was also a Finn, though Salo took it a step further by being born in Helsinki too. Another Helsinki-born netminder once played for Helsinki in Season 16, that was my own first-gen Vase Trikamaki in his final year in the VHL.
So, three Finns and two born in Helsinki have worn Titan teal (it's cornflower blue really). My thought process must be easy to follow now, as I simply went and looked at the other active or at least notable goaltenders in Titan history.
S1-S5: Maxim Desny (Russian)
S6-S11: Dominik Stryker (German)
S12-S15: Izaak Muller (Swiss)
S19-S24: Jakob Kjeldsen (Danish)
S25-S28: Claudio Martucci (Italian)
S29-S30: Pekka Svenson (Swedish)
You'll notice a gap between Trikamaki (S16) and Kjeldsen (S19) which was filled by some scrubs like Jimmy Ryan and Erich Schomann, at least one of whom was European. This brings me to the key point of my findings: every goalie of note in Titans history was European. Three Finns, two more Scandinavians, and a whole host of other nationalities but not a single North American. Are they the only such franchise? Quite probably so as I can think of at least one Canadian or American for every other franchise including Cologne and Quebec. Is this significant? Not really but you have to admit it's fairly cool.
That should be the essence of this column, however long it may last. Statistics will likely come into play sooner or later and some findings will be more pride-enticing than others. Kimmo Salo can in the meantime pride himself on being a reason for one of my articles, the starter of a trend, and a new addition to a Helsinki production line of great European goaltenders. In terms of goaltending, the Titans are historically renowned for consistently strong performers, including cup-winners, Tretiak Trophy winners, and even playoff MVPs. In any case, that's sufficient rambling now, until next week, this has been “Historical Significance”.

This proposal though.
Cap initial carryover at 28 TPE, allow to add extra carryover (1 to 47 TPE) after player is drafted in the VHL. May be difficult to manage but the idea is decent.

Victor reacted to JardyB10 in VHLM Cap Rule
As for the rest of this thread, I the misinformation being thrown around in the first five pages was really annoying. I didn't know the exact situation, but I figured it was as easily resolvable as it turned out to be, and it probably would have saved a lot of frustration if y'all just waited for someone who actually knows what their talking about to appear (i.e. Jason, Higgins, Victor, me (haha waiting on me, great idea)).
As has already been clarified, I don't know of anyone who bended the hard cap rule since it's been implemented. It's not nearly as complicated as everyone's made it out to be. I vaguely recall Fong doing some sketchy shit, but I doubt we would have let him walk away with that unresolved. I didn't recall Molholt having to give up the TPE he bought from Player Store, but he definitely shouldn't have. I know he gave up TC and at least a portion of his pre-season predictions. I *DO* recall wanting to make PS purchases only available in off-season after that incident though, I can't remember if we followed through with that.
All in all, no one should be upset. We're not out to fuck people over, there's just relatively simple hard cap rules. And it was easily solved. I suppose we should put them somewhere less hidden and re-word it to make it more obvious maybe, but I'm pretty sure it's relatively straightforward.

The foresight to trade for an inactive who would come back. What a brilliant GM in Davos.

After a disappointing 2nd round playoff exit, it was going to be a long off-season for the Helsinki Titans. The team was aging, and it was time for a changing of the guard. Long time General Manager and expert rigger Mitchell Higgins stepped down in favour of player agent Vincent Wong, known for his representation of all-star Ethan Osborne.
Before the change at the helm however, Higgins traded damn near every single player on the roster, including former 2nd overall pick Naomi Young. After round 1 of playoffs, Young proclaimed she had converted to the Faith of R'hllor, to smite Lord Davos and his subjects. This plan failed, and she was then awkwardly exiled to Switzerland to join her rivals.
"I had mixed feelings about the ordeal, but then I realized the Dynamo have like, 4 or so of my Top 10 favourite people in the VHL. I took it as a sign that R'hllor is a false god, and have NOW decided to convert to the faith of the old gods. I took my vows under a heart tree just yesterday," said Naomi, an apparent zealot.
The Dynamo are hoping to repeat as VHL Champions, having only lost Odin Tordahl in the off-season. This loss was offset by the acquisition of Young, and the roster was bolstered further with the free agency signing of Felix Zamora.
Naomi ended the interview with, "We are going to fuck up some shit, even though this franchise is kind of gay."

Chris is a dick to deal with, what with him wanting to win every trade he makes. I might recover a pick or two if more cap moves a la Gallo are needed.
Anyway, decent start. I'm thinking we play DAV G against Helsinki and not Calgary. Kind of forgot how terrible the Titans are.
