Jose Gonzalez got a reaction from omgitshim in Jose Gonzalez on his next season
Jose Gonzalez was drafted by the Quebec City Meute in the S63 VHL draft. We asked him some questions about his next season and his future.

Media: Are you happy with who you got selected by?

Gonzalez: Well, I am happy to be playing in the VHL, but there are other teams that I would wish to be playing for.

Media: Are there any players that you are upset to be leaving in Vegas?

Gonzalez: Yea of course, I will miss Pepper, and Borwinn, but I think I will miss the coach the most.

Media: In Vegas held multiple camps to help the youth get into hockey. Are you planning on doing that in Quebec.

Gonzalez: Yea I am, but I think it will be more difficult since I do not know French, so I will have to learn some french before we get those camps going. Hopefully some of my teammates will help me with that?

Media: Who in the VHL has been your biggest influence?

Gonzalez: I don't think I can answer that quiet yet. I mean I am still so young and so much of my career is left, get back to me with that question in a few years.

Jose Gonzalez got a reaction from Beaviss in Jose Gonzalez Announces Training Camp in Seattle
Jose Gonzalez, during this off-season, has held two training camps in Vegas. Today he announced that the two days before the VHL draft he will be spending his time in Seattle helping the youth improve at the sport. He invited any Seattle and Helsinki player that wants to join in during this camp. This has come after he stated that he wanted to be drafted by Seattle, and if not at least stay in America. "I don't think I have kept it a secret I want to be drafted by Seattle. I just love the West coast and they seem like the most logical answer." Gonzalez announced that he will be in the arena when the draft occurs, but will be in Seattle in the days leading up to the draft. Gonzalez has spent his VHLM year playing for the Las Vegas Aces, who drafted him 27th in the VHLM dispersal draft.

Jose Gonzalez got a reaction from Tagger in Jose Gonzalez Draft Predictions and Hopes [1/2]
As the draft nears closer, I have been watching the VHL draft predictions more and more. I am currently tied for eighth in the VHL draft rankings. This is a massive improvement considering I was drafted 27th in the VHLM dispersion draft. It is likely that I will be picked by one of three teams. These three teams are the New York Americans, the Seattle Bears, and the Calgary Wranglers. I am going to talk about each of these teams and who I would like to be picked by during the draft.

    New York Americans

The New York Americans finished the S62 season with a record of 25-44-3 in 7th place. They are a rebuilding team with a bright future having 2 first round picks. Growing up in Vegas I always had the west coast Vs. east rivalry in me, and grew up fighting for the west coast. It would be an honor to play for any VHL team, but I would rather play for a team out of the US or on the US west coast. I would rank them number 4 in the teams I would like to be drafted by because they are not competitive right now, and I do not affiliate with their side of the country.

    Seattle Bears

The Seattle Bears were the team I grew up rooting for. They were always the team I wanted to go and win it all. The Bears ended their previous season in 5th place with a record of 36-29-7. They are the team I am hoping to be drafted by because of how bright and how near their future is. I would rank them 1st in the teams I want to be drafted by because I love Seattle; growing up my family would visit Seattle as our vacation spot, and they are going to be competitive very soon.

    Calgary Wranglers

The Calgary Wranglers are currently fighting for the Championship with Quebec city. They have performed well all season and I am picking them to win it all. I would not mind being put into an already successful team, but if I win a cup I want to be a major part of the cup, not just a member of the team. Calgary has never been on my list, but since we are seeing that they are possible to pick me up, I have been watching then a lot. I would rank them number 2 in team I want to go to because of their amazing records over the last season.

    Riga Reign

The Riga Reign are the most unlikely team on this list to pick me up, but there is a chance so I want to talk about the team. I would like to stay on the North American continent. However it would be an honor to be on a team that this likely to win a cup in the next 3 seasons. This would allow me to grow as a player, and be a part of the cup win. I would rank the Reign as number 3 in my list of wanting to be drafted by because of their bright future, and my ability to win a cup soon, but still have the ability to play a role in it.

I am Jose Gonzalez, LW for the Las Vegas aces, and I wanted to make this blog to talk about the VHLM playoffs and the VHL draft coming up. We as a team, have not played well against Ottawa that is simple. I am hoping that us being lead 3-1 will be the punch in the face to go "This is real they are a real opponent we need to go hard." I think very few players on the team including me have been playing as well as they could. I think we can beat Ottawa, but we need too play as a team in the regular season we could, but now we can't. I am currently projected 9th for the VHL draft, and I am excited for the night I get selected. I have enjoyed my time in the VHLM and playing for my local team in Vegas, but I am excited to join my next team where ever it maybe.

Jose Gonzalez got a reaction from Cornflakers in Jose Gonzalez Helping Young Players
Jose Gonzalez announced Thursday afternoon that he will be opening three day hockey camp to help the young forwards in the Las Vegas region get more experience. He announced that any players aged 11-15 can come to this camp. This was announced soon after the extremely successful camp Alexander Pepper opened in the Las Vegas region. “I hope that the more involvement the team has in the community, the more young players will work hard enough to get to this level. I have already had 42 young children sign up, and I am hoping that we can get at least 200 in through this.” If Gonzalez keeps getting so many people sign up they might have to set up a second camp as they only have a licence to hold 345 kids that weekend. “I am hoping I can get a few of my teammates to join in on this, Pepper probably will, I am hoping Scott Shawinganen will join in, and of course we have to get Jubo in so he can coach them. If you have a kid that maybe interested you can sign up online and at City National Arena.

Jose Gonzalez got a reaction from Cornflakers in Jose Gonzalez Interview at WJC [1/2]
Jose Gonzalez was selected to represent team America, who has been performing extremely poorly at the WJC s62. Jose has also been impressive in the VHLM with 26 goals and 52 points in 46 games. He has played for the Las Vegas Aces who are currently in 3rd place behind Ottawa and Halifax. The United States has a record of 3-5. After their previous game with team ASIA we talked to Jose.

MEDIA: How are you doing today Jose?

JOSE: As good as you can do after a loss.

MEDIA: Can you give us some insight on why the United States is under performing?

JOSE: I think everyone is not playing well, I don't know what is going on.

MEDIA: Well you have been playing extremely poorly with just 2 goals in 8 games and 6 points in those same games what can you say?

JOSE: I think I came in here cocky. I came into this competition expecting to win and win big and it has hindered my performance.

MEDIA: Do you think this performance can show any insight into your future into the VHL and possibly the VHLM?

JOSE: I hope not... I have been playing extremely well and am currently the number one rookie ion the VHLM so I am hoping this just jet lag from traveling to Hong Kong.

MEDIA: Enough about your performance at the WJC, can we talk about your performance in the VHLM season this year?

    JOSE: Of course.

MEDIA: With you being the current 2nd best rookie in the VHLM what are you thinking?

JOSE: Well it is to beat Julian of course. We are super competitive in practice and with everything so we are fighting hard to be the best.

MEDIA: With everyone predicting how the VHL draft with happen what are you thinking.

JOSE: To be honest, I haven't looked at any of those predictions. I will go off of what happens that fateful night, and hope that I gain my right into a hopeful future.

MEDIA: Are there any teams you are looking to be drafted by?

JOSE: I grew up being a Seattle fan so I am looking at Seattle, but anywhere in the US would be awesome.

MEDIA: With you being on a higher level team so long, is there anything that you are considering pet peeves or pregame rituals?

JOSE: I don't think so no, but I do for sure eat a steak before every game if you want to count that.

MEDIA: A huge story line going into this season was the Las Vegas picked two Las Vegas locals to play on their team and both have performed extremely well. Are you hoping to be drafted by the same team as Alexander in the VHL draft?

JOSE: Well of course I am, Alex and I go back a long way and playing for the same team in the VHLM has been a dream let alone the Aces.

MEDIA: Well Jose that is all the time we have for today good luck on the rest of the WJC and the rest of the VHLM season.

    JOSE: Thanks for having me.

Jose Gonzalez got a reaction from DollarAndADream in Las Vegas Aces Player Review Week 3
This week we will be focusing on Cayden Saint and Scott Shawinganen, but first how the team has been doing. The 4 players we have talked about already have continued their strong playing. Alexander Pepper has continued in the .889 save percentage area and going from a 7-3 record when the first edition was released, to a 23-13. Jose Gonzalez has done much the same. He has gone from 6 goals and 5 assists in 10 games to 21 goals and 17 assists in 36 games. The same can be said about both of last weeks stars. This weeks stars are Cayden Saint and Scott Shawinganen however, so how are they doing? Well lets start with Cayden Saint. Cayden Saint was drafted in the S62 Dispersal Draft 10th overall. This year he is has put up 11 goals and 32 assists in 36 games. Scott Shawinganen has put up 17 goals and 21 assists in 36 games in his rookie season. Next week we will be looking at who and what will mostly be going on in the VHLM playoffs. This is the Las Vegas Now on Channel 8 wishing you a good week and go Aces.

    Jose Gonzalez
    Born: February 11, 2001
    Birthplace: Reno, Nevada
    Shoots: Right
    Position: LW
    Height: 68''
    Weight: 192lbs

    Early Life
Jose Gonzalez was born in Reno, Nevada on February 11th, 2001. He lived for hockey he would watch it nightly with his mother and hoped one day to play for a team. He sometimes had the opportunity to play with some sticks, and when he did he would try to shoot as hard as he could. His mother noticed this and bought him a field hockey set which he would play nightly and some days he would even try and get a piece of wood to use a goalie. His time in Reno was short however, as he moved to Las Vegas when he was just 8 years old. He would play street hockey in the streets and roller hockey whenever he could at his local roller rink, but when he realized that this wasn't challenging enough his friend Alexander Pepper convinced him to get into ice hockey. Jose started his ice hockey career with the local league and he scored an amazing 10 goals in 52 games when he was just 12. He was always one of the best players on the team, but never thought anything of it. He was always picked first in teams, and would never go a game without scoring at least one point. When Las Vegas got the Las Vegas Aces Jose went to a game and watched as he realized he could play at that level. He would soon realize that that game would cause him to change what he wanted to do with his life, "I never dreamed about being a professional hockey player. I always thought that it was just there and that I was not good enough to be in the professional leagues. I guess that game really did ruin my childhood with those long nights at the rink." (chuckle)
    Growing as a Player
He would play every night shooting into the air vents in his attic. In an interview his parents said, "You get used to it, if he hit a really hard one sometimes it would come out in the living room, but he kept a bag there and collected them." When he had time to practice with Alexander they would do slap shots and shootouts. Alexander always was bigger then Jose, but they never really looked at it as a flaw. This lead to his biggest weakness, his size. He is a very small player and he gets pushed around constantly when facing larger players. In one in when he was 16 he was attempting to pass a player who just stopped skating and Jose fell and broke his ankle on impact. His parents were worried that if he kept this up he would get seriously injured one day and possibly ruin his entire life, but they would never convince him to stop playing the sport that he loved to play.
    Late Teenage Years
When Jose was 16 he started driving himself to the rink. This changed his entire practice routine. His parents said, "We would rarely see him except for when we asked him to be home. He would always be working out on the ice. We are really proud of him though because he found something and he worked really hard on it." On July 6th. 2016, his mom was left paralyzed after a drunk driver hit her car going on the 215 heading home. He would stay home with her, but she told him that if he wanted to play hockey professionally then go for it because you only have one chance in your life. He would go to practice every other day the weeks after his mom was hit. Jose would eventually have to take up a job to help support the family, with one less paycheck they were having trouble paying the bills. He would work everyday after he was done with school and every weekend, with time to practice hockey. He would have to buy his own sticks, his own gloves, and his own tape. These years would define him as a person. just weeks after his mom was hit he would sign up for the combine for the VHLM draft. He extremely under performed, but he was on the scouts books, and that was all he could hope for that night. Jose would work harder going into the draft, every night he would spend more hours then the night before until it was the special night.
    Draft Night
Jose was contacted by one team before the drafted, but reached out to Las Vegas and said that he wanted to be apart of that specific organization. He watched the first round just a viewer. 1st pick was no surprise Ryuu Crimson. He kept watching as the drafts came in, Lando Baxter, Julian Borwinn, Shawn Glade. He then received a call, "Yea we are looking into picking you up soon keep your hopes up kid." He was hoping for a specific team though, he wanted to be in one city. Here came the picks for the team that called him, and there they went. He wasn't going to be that soon. He decided to call the team that he wanted to be picked up by, "I am just letting you know that you are the team that I want to be drafted by." "I didn't even see you if you are still around for our next pick we will be picking you up." However, there was still 8 more picks to come before that pick. The names seemed louder then they were before, they felt more real, Chance Matthews, Mike Lavallee, Ansii Koivuchak, Anderson  LaVey. He got a call during this time, "If you are still available during our next pick we will be picking you." They were in just two picks, he thought there was no chance he would end up where he wanted to be, until "The Las Vegas Aces have traded for the 27th pick." He had never been so happy in his life, but he had to wait until they called it. "For the 27th pick of the VHLM Dispersal Draft the Las Vegas Aces are proud to select Left Wing Jose Gonzalez." He called Anderson Pepper, "I WAS SELECTED BY VEGAS I'M GOING HOME." In just 7 more picks Anderson Pepper would be selected by Las Vegas. The two people who grew up in Vegas would be playing hockey in Vegas. It was almost as if it was planned.
    Las Vegas Aces
We don't know if Jose Gonzalez will ever be a star, but as of right now he is a story line along with Alexander Pepper.
