Imagine being from Boston. Your city is big, important, and historically relevant. You're in a crowd of some of the most passionate sports fans around. You love a good bowl of clam chowder and you find it a little bit charming that you can sometimes tell who's your neighbor by listening to the way that they talk. It's a much better existence than that dump over in New York, where the people sound funny, the Giants fans won't stop reminding you of what Eli Manning did to the Pats, and don't even get you started on their idea of pizza!

But what's to stop them from feeling the same sort of pride in themselves and the same sort of derision towards you? After all, you sound funny to them, the helmet catch was pretty sweet, and maybe living in a heavily Italian area has given some people a pretty good idea of how to make a pie. It's obvious to most on either side who take the time to think about it that all these things are silly, but that doesn't even stop lots of people who think it's silly to think that way from doing so regardless. I've seen this come up in the VHL time and time again over the years, which will make this a perfect intro to at least one other article I have lined up, but here it shall fit as I'm doing my best to put things in chronological order.

My first experience with VHL tribalism came not long after I signed up. I distinctly remember one of my very first questions in the Bulls server being related to team rivalries and who I should write articles about--which led to me writing some of the anti-Halifax pieces I alluded to in my last article--but something a little more serious than friendly rivalry between @Rin and @McWolf was more serious conflict that arose between the VHLM's two expansion franchises that season, boiled over into personal issues between members, and had effects that persisted for seasons longer than they should have.

Anyone who was around at the time is probably aware that I'm talking about Houston and Philadelphia and the conflict between Sonnet and inaugural Reapers GM @BladeMaiden. I'm going to stay out of anything personal related to this because I feel that isn't quite my story to tell, but I think there was a lot to sort out from the perspective of the players themselves.

The expansion teams in S65 had quite a bit in common that would naturally lead to competition. They were led by very active first-time GMs with one or two seasons of VHL experience, they started with similar assets, and they both featured team servers that were among the most active the league has ever had to offer. VHLM expansion then was symbolic of a whole lot more than just having more teams--the league had just started to boom, its then-largest-ever draft class had just opened the floodgates, and everyone was out to prove that they were important in this whole sea of newness. And where most teams were active and built their identities on positively representing themselves to the wider community, Houston and Philly were really active and got there by hating each other. In my almost-30 seasons in the VHL, I've never seen anything like it and I've really never seen anything close. Both teams were full of first-gens (hello to fellow S65 Bull @Grape!) and the bad thing about that, if someone chooses to manipulate it, is that first-gens are super impressionable.

I'm unfamiliar with how things got started in the way they did. All I know is that not long after I'd joined the team, I'd read through some really nasty exchanges on the forums, been snapped at a few times myself with not much reason, and heard a lot secondhand. Beyond just whatever GM conflict there may have been, the players were heavily involved. In Houston, we were never mobilized to join in arguments, nor were we ever told what to think (something that I don't think could have been said the same both ways. @FrostBeard has a great thread covering the Reapers' side of things that also happens to explain a lot about some of the interactions I remember having with people I'd have no reason to dislike normally). That said, we certainly had enough exposure to the situation that we knew what to think anyway and were often fueled by the need to do what we thought was necessary to defend our team. I remember being part of some Discord arguments. I remember being angry at some forum topics that should have had nothing to do with me. And you know what? It probably helped keep me active. I had people in Houston that I considered my friends and I wanted to see them treated right. I wasn't about to walk away from that situation.

People who played for the Reapers probably felt the same way, and though my perspective is probably biased, it seemed absolutely insane how deep that ran. I remember multiple occasions when I saw one person fighting with someone else--and within a few minutes, that amped itself up into three or four. I don't believe any of the worst offenders there are still in the league, and I also can't say I'm disappointed by that. What I am disappointed by is some of the negative fallout that caused for some. I talked to a handful of people at the time who felt that they were treated very unfairly, and I remember a particularly unpleasant experience had by one of our active first-gens that he later cited as a major reason why he left the league altogether. Were this only a GM problem, it would be one thing. But players came to believe that being part of the problem equated to being part of things in general, and some who wanted to be important got sucked too far into that.

It was also a shame that it led me to think negatively of some people who played for the Reapers (Frost is one example, but I can think of others) who weren't even part of the problem. I'm sure that some people also associated me negatively with the Bulls. And there was no reason why that should have been the case--former S65 Reapers like @McLovin and fellow Buffalo expat @DMaximus  are people I genuinely like and people who I've never seen trying to fight anyone. But that sort of thing was hard to see in the moment when I saw others who I won't name coming after my GM and teammates simply for existing. It's something that I never hope to see again in the VHL and it's a problem that I'm glad to say our current group of GMs never has. It also happened to be something that was on my mind quite a bit in my first VHL season, enough so that there has to be some way that it shaped my course as a member. I think it made me realize early on that GMs are only human and that not every person I met online is worth my time and effort in stressing about. But do you know what else I learned? I had enough fun anyway that I learned that that's OK.

I've always been fascinated by the nationalities of the VHL, both at a member level, but also in the countries that members have chosen for their players. There has been a dominance of Canada and the US as expected but also a lot of other traditional and non-traditional hockey markets, which has meant a very eclectic list of entries into the Hall of Fame, and also a very balanced World Cup which has recently become a particularly underappreciated tournament. I'm moving away from the most unusual locations for the purpose of this article but you can see the nationality of every single Hall of Famer in the linked thread below. In the meantime, here is an attempt to create all-time rosters (3 forwards, 3 defencemen, and 3 goaltenders) for the most popular nations in VHL history.

    https://vhlforum.com/topic/63841-hof-players-builders/
Note: Blue = Hall of Famer. Italics = out of position (i.e. centers used as wingers)

    Canada
Matt Thompson - Unassisted - Brett Slobodzian
Jardy Bunclewirth - Ethan Osborne - Zach Parechkin
Tom Lincoln - Andrew Su - Josh Vestiquan

    Sterling Labatte - Daniel Braxton
    Black Velvet - Aurelien Moreau
    Elijah Incognito - Lincoln Tate

    Aidan Shaw
    Benoit Devereux
    Rhett DeGrath

Canada's obviously #1 in this discussion. 46 Canadians have been inducted into the Hall of Fame to date, by far the most of any country, and nearly enough for 3 rosters exclusively made out of Hall of Famers. Strength in depth was never going to be an issue here but what I do find interesting is that Canada has almost not produced any player considered the best beyond dispute. Yes there's the award namesakes – Slobodzian, Labatte, Shaw – and for a time they would have been considered the pinnacle of their position, but all have been moved down the ranking with the passage of time. It's also curious that there's not really been an all-time great coming out of Canada since Matt Thompson retired in S68, evidenced by the fact only Su, Moreau, and Tate would be considered “modern” players and all three are a bit buried on the depth chart. Make no mistake, Canada would almost certainly win a hypothetical all-time tournament but it's nice that there is quite a bit of individual brilliance sprinkled across the other nations.

The US might have only half of Canada's Hall of Famers but it's arguably got more bang for its buck. O'Malley and McAllister are two of the 3-4 names in VHL history who can challenge Scotty Campbell as the league's GOAT. Conner Low and Ryan Sullivan – that's basically your #1 and #2 in the all-time defencemen ranking. Any of the 3 lines could realistically be the first and rolling out the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th all-time top scorers as your 3 centers puts the recent Pittsburgh Penguins dynasty to shame. Defence has been historically a weak spot (behind Low and Sullivan) but Markinson and Smitty have bridged the gap as the best of their generations, and likely S91 inductee Brian Payne is building on an impressive recent legacy. Whisper but America could well knock Canada off its perch in a one-off playoff.

The streak of HOF-only rosters ends at 2. But the UK put up a very strong effort and is only 2 forwards and a goalie away from matching Canada and the US. Also, the UK as #3 in a hockey setting? The VHL's English speaking background has definitely had its impact here as has the influence of a handful of Builders. The Knight brothers account for 6 of the players on the team (hint: it's anyone named Phil or David) and as a UK resident I have also assisted with Cast and Bentley. Is it enough to challenge the top two? Probably not, despite a sprinkling of real VHL royalty in Jenskins, Smalling, and Rafter. Goaltending depth is where the team falls down (this will start to be a recurring theme from here), with McCreath widely considered one of the weaker goalies in the Hall, and Wingate's famous playoff heroics might not be enough to rescue the UK here.

    Petr Shirokov - Lars Intranquilo
    Mike Kloepfer - David Tavau

    Sandro Clegane
    Matthew Pogge
    Marius Henchoz

Probably the most unbalanced team of them all. Switzerland was a VHL superstar hotspot in its early days (see Campbell, Boulet, Jenskovic) and then after S20 or so stopped producing notable talent with any regularity at all. “Recent” Hall of Famers Clegane and Janser retired some 40 seasons apart. Tellingly, Jasper Davis makes the cut despite being in his third season at the time of writing. Tavau, Kloepfer, and Ziegler in the meantime might be the worst players on any of the teams being profiled although satisfyingly have a Davos connection as either cup-winners with the Swiss team (Kloepfer, Ziegler) or Dynamo lifers (Tavau). In a 6v6 tournament, Switzerland would be up there with the best of them. Even the second line can hold its own but it all falls apart after that and the production line doesn't seem to be getting any better.

    Oskar Lindbergh

Probably the team most expected to be third in the list, Sweden likely does occupy that spot based on quantity, but has not really provided the VHL's absolute cream of the crop over the years. The thing that does stick out here is the overall balance – take out Brekker and Valiq and there's not really much separating the Hall of Famers from the 3rd liners. Most of the players on the roster have been or currently are on the HOF ballot. In particular this is relevant in net where Emeritus and Lindbergh are still awaiting the call and could change the complexion of this Swedish team if they do get inducted. Overall, however, the verdict would have to be solid but unspectacular which definitely fits the stereotype.

Sweden's neighbours and eternal rivals are hot on their tail and one thing stands out from the off – they love a center. 8 of the 9 forwards are centers by trade and fittingly the only winger, Karsten Olsen, was a defenceman to begin with. This means great depth in the middle (not quite US level but very possible second place) but less so elsewhere. This is particularly obvious on defence where Jokinen flies the flag alone in the Hall of Fame and the depth guys blend so much that I couldn't even pick one between Sixten of 30s Toronto fame and current Prague dinosaur Greg. But the contrast is clear in goal as well – Tukio is one of the greatest ever in contention with Shaw, Wingate, and the Cleganes yet somehow my first-gen who retired in S16 with 634 TPE is still the second-best Finland has managed to produce. Like Switzerland, we are top-heavy here and will struggle on the line changes.

The Danes have really put all their eggs in one basket. Six Hall of Famers is actually quite good going for a country that's not necessarily a hockey hotbed but each one has been a forward. Offense as a strategy is a pretty good one in the VHL and Dear, Berger, and Molholt is one of the higher-scoring first lines out there, but we shouldn't cut Denmark too much slack. They've been bailed out significantly by the VHL's Greenland and interlinked Reinhart epidemic and will soon need to worry about whether a stand-alone Denmark team could beat a stand-alone Greenland one. For now though, this is a well-balanced combined team which would hold its own in a Nordic tournament.

Germany is definitely closer to the Swiss end of the range in that a lot of its strength comes from its past rather than more recent seasons. The majority of the roster had retired or at least debuted by S30 and talent has only trickled in since. There are two old names who continue to hold up well in modern discourse in Stolzschweiger and Walser and a strong trio of centers, while the 3 split decisions on the third line show that there is more than decent depth to call upon. Goaltending is definitely a weakness however, with one of the great first overall busts in VanCoughnett propping up two names more famous for their GM roles than their exploits on the ice.

Finally we close off this piece with the Russian team which is quite similar to the Swedes in 1) being quite balanced with no real standout superstar and 2) being pleasingly stereotypical. Russia's famous in the hockey world for producing individually brilliant players with good attacking instincts and little in the way of a two-way game – it is both their strength and often their downfall. The all-time VHL Russian team is no exception with pretty much everyone on the team focused on scoring (other than the goalies of course) and doing so well enough to be in the Hall of Fame or at least the Hall of Very Good. Everyone on the roster except Desny is also a cup winner which is quite impressive so if nothing else, team Russia would be entertaining.

After Russia the disparity grows, with no other country really providing a consistent stream of high quality VHL players. Ukraine is the only other nation with more than 2 Hall of Famers, with 4, and features prominently on the best of the rest roster I've put together below just for fun. Of course there are not many traditional hockey markets not covered above (and indeed the UK and Denmark are probably less traditional than others). The Czech and Slovak presence has also been low in the VHL with just 1 Hall of Famer between them, while Latvia actually does quite well with 2 but as expected doesn't really have the depth. Apart from that, lots of VHL members opted to bring in talent from eclectic destinations, from Asia to Australia, from South Africa to the Caribbean. It's provided a good deal of flavour to the overall list but does mean there are still gaps to fill on the more traditional teams which should be the main takeaway from this.... don't make Canadians and Americans.

    Uncapped Vs Capped

Before we start I'd like to also mention that this is avaliable in the form of a video.

    Uncapped TPE
Unlimited amount per week with even more ways to earn it compared to capped TPE.
Donating, Practice Facility, Training Camp, Giveaways, Career Tasks, Super Coach, Fantasy, Theme week, Reviewing, Many, many more

    Capped TPE
12 Capped a week. Can be gained through a few different mediums.
Graphics, Articles, Videos, Press Conferences, Welfare, Podcasts, Trivia

Both of these can be combined weekly to max out your total TPE gain. Members who wish to gain as much TPE as they possibly can should focus on making sure they cap out at 12 capped per week and earn as much uncapped as they can.

    RED= Capped
    GREEN= Uncapped
I will be following in this general order which is how the player development page on the forums is laid out. The main changes in this order will come at the end where I will outline additional uncapped TPE opportunities.

    Let’s start with Capped TPE
Each week, a player can earn up to 12 capped TPE. These primarily are from a major PTs worth 6 TPE (Graphics, Videos, Podcasts, Articles). The remaining 6 TPE comes from smaller PTs which vary in TPE amounts (Press Conferences, Trivia, Mini Pods, etc.) The league runs on a weekly schedule, meaning this 12 TPE can be earned from Monday-Sunday before it resets.
A typical week of earning for me looks like the following: Graphic, Press conference, mini graphic, trivia. Many members also follow this pattern but there are a ton of different ways to hit 12 TPE.

    Media Spots
Media spots are a minimum 500 word article about anything VHL related. Accepted on the basis of effort, also make sure to have as proper punctuation as you can. Images, titles, paragraph organization, and more can all help your media spots look better. (I’ve tried to apply some techniques here) Additionally, Media spots are unique in that they can claim TPE over multiple weeks.
    500 Words- 1 Week
    1000 Words- 2 Weeks
    1500 Words- 3 Weeks
    2000 Words- 4 weeks
This allows you to post a single media spot and claim it over a month, which is great if you plan on being less active for a period of time. Personally, I plan on claiming this while on a vacation.

    Graphics
-Graphics are among the most common ways to earn TPE in the VHL.
-They are worth 6 TPE and are typically accepted based on effort, not their quality.

Here we have three graphics from @Zetterberg, @McWolf, and @Subject056 respectively. We can see clear “quality” differences in each graphic but the most important thing for one to be accepted is effort as mentioned.

    Videos
Videos in the VHL are not very common, but can still earn you 6 TPE. Videos are typically player edits with highlights from real hockey games. Music and effects are great ways to add more to your videos and improve how they look. Videos are posted under the same location as graphics, this is most likely due to how uncommon they are, meaning they don’t get their own spot.

    Podcasts
Podcasts are unique because multiple people can claim TPE on them. You can record yourself talking about anything VHL related and upload the audio to claim your TPE. Similarly to media spots, podcasts can be claimed over multiple weeks if they meet the requirements below. The TPE gained per podcast depends largely on how many people are included in it. There are also rare cases where you can claim TPE for stuff such as live streams which count as podcasts.

Here we can see the chart showing how TPE gain works through podcasts.

    Welfare and Pension
If you don’t want to or can’t do a 6 TPE task, then welfare is always there.Welfare is a free 4 capped TPE that you can get through the player page. It replaces your 6 point task, meaning you can only earn up to 10 TPE in a week where you claimed welfare.

Pension is essentially a welfare upgrade, which grants 5 TPE. You cant start receiving welfare right away though. To get it, you must first have two players in the VHL reach 700+ TPE.

    VHL.Com Articles, Graphics, Radio
These three are essentially the smaller versions of Media Spots, Articles, and podcasts and they’re worth less as they are shorter. Articles must be 150 words and face the same rules about effort as Media Spots. Graphics are typically lower quality, but still have effort put into them. VHL.com articles and graphics are both worth 2 TPE. VHL.com radio posts have to be at least five minutes long, but are worth 3 TPE. They are essentially mini podcasts and are a solid way to earn TPE based on time required.

    Trivia
Each week, you may answer two trivia questions, worth 1 TPE each. These questions can be found in the portal, under the “League” heading. Trivia questions vary from member to member meaning that you will likely not have the same two questions as any other member. Answers can be tricky to find, but the VHL discord has a trivia help channel that can be very useful.

    Reviewing and Game Recaps
Reviews are to be 75 words minimum reviewing an article, graphic or podcast. These can be posted as a part of the thread of whatever you are reviewing. You can review two things a week for 1 TPE each. Game recaps are 75 words minimum recapping any VHL game that you as a member did NOT take part in, as a player or GM. As is the case with reviews, you can write two weekly for 1 TPE each and they go under the sims of which the game happened.

    Press Conferences
Press Conferences are all about answering/asking six questions. Each team has their own press conference, although you can also make a personal press conference for your player and request questions. The VHL has recently added “Answer 3, Ask 3”. Which is an ongoing thread where people answer the three previous questions posted and ask three of their own. You can answer any questions, even other teams, although it is advised that you do your own teams.

    Job Pay
There are many different jobs in the VHL and there is a TPE incentive for almost all of them. Job pay varies a lot from position to position with some paying two while others are all the way up to eight. Job pay is something that you will most likely learn about through experiencing the VHL.

    Moving onto Uncapped TPE
As previously stated, you can earn an infinite amount of uncapped TPE per week, although there will not always be alot available. There are tons of ways to earn uncapped TPE, some you can do weekly, monthly, while others are per season. There are also events which occur such as donation drives and holidays which give out TPE.

    Practice Facility
The practice facility is the easiest way to earn TPE weekly, it’s just one button located above the welfare button. Every player should claim practice facility every week. The practice facility gives 2 uncapped TPE while you’re in the VHLM and VHLE, and only 1 TPE once you make it to the VHL.

    Career Point Tasks
There are five different career tasks in the VHL. All giving differing amounts of TPE. They are all unlocked at different points of your career. Right off the beginning, members can complete both biographies and prospect scouting reports, then they must wait until their players reach certain milestones.

Biography - To be completed anytime - 800 words 8 TPE
Prospect Scouting Report - To be completed before first VHL game - 400 Words 4 TPE
Hello Europe - To be completed during VHLE season - 400 words 5 TPE
Rookie Experience - To be completed after first VHL season - 400 Words 5 TPE
Career Reflection - To be completed after 4th VHL season - 400 Words - TPE
All of these may also be completed as 10 minute podcasts, except the biography, which is 15 minutes.

    Fantasy
The VHL features three different fantasy options which all take different amounts of time and offer different amounts of TPE based on how you do. We will be looking at the VHL fantasy zone, Victory Hockey Fantasy League, and VHL super coach. VHL Fantasy zone is done weekly, while Fantasy League and Super coach are both per season.

    VHL Fantasy Zone
Each week, multiple questions about each league is posted. Members give their input on what they think is going to happen. The more accurate your predictions are, the more TPE you gain. The Fantasy zone is a quick and easy way to earn TPE and you can request to be mentioned on the forums every week when a new one is posted. These have a cutoff, pay attention to it! I personally find it best to enter my response as late as possible so I can have the best chance at getting the answers correct. It’s much easier to tell which team will do better if they have only two games remaining on the final day of answering instead of eight games when it was posted.

    Victory Hockey Fantasy League
Before every season starts, members can enter their name to join the VHFL. It’s similar to any other fantasy sports in which 6 members draft 4 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goalie through a snake draft. At the end of the season, players are ranked 1st-6th with 6 TPE going to the 1st place, 5 to 2nd etc. You can also apply to be a GM in VHFL, essentially meaning you keep track of the picks and make sure everyone makes their pick in their allotted 12 hour time frame. This gives 1 extra uncapped TPE. Once you’ve done VHLE once it’s easy to understand the role of the GM. There are only a certain number of spots to be GM so it’s best to apply early and make sure if you’re accepted that you do your job well.

    VHL Super Coach
Super Coach is the newest fantasy option the VHL has added, starting last year. Every member is invited to create a team using 42$, with the player's costs being determined by their total TPE minus the last two numbers. Ex. John Jameson 1379 would be worth 13$. Each team consists of 3 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goalie. TPE payout is based on the % in which you finish, with 6 being the most.

    Predictions
Predictions can be done before a VHL season starts during the offseason. You are predicting the results of both players and teams in the VHL. Each correct prediction you make is worth 1 TPE.

    Affiliate TPE
Members can earn 1 TPE monthly by posting a VHL.com level post on the leagues affiliate league the SBA (Simulation Basketball Association). It doesn’t seem like much, but if you want to be a top level TPE earner this is a good way to earn over 20 TPE if you play a full VHL career. You can also use the SBA to gain TPE through affiliate tasks, meaning a graphic posted there can be worth 6 TPE here as well.

First Generation Bonus, Graduation Bonus, and Training Camp.
If you are a first generation player, meaning you are either brand new or haven’t created a player in over three seasons, then you are eligible for the first generation bonus. The first generation bonus is a free uncapped 10 TPE that you can earn once you hit 100 TPE. All you have to do is make a post and link it.
Graduation bonus is a free 10 TPE bonus that is applied to your player once they make it to the VHL.
After you are drafted to the VHL you will be able to claim TPE from the training camp during each off season. There will be a training camp button that appears near the welfare and practice facility button that allows you to claim 10 TPE.

    Recruiting
If you recruit players to the VHL, and they are active and successful members, you can see some benefit out of this. As they progress and reach new TPE benchmarks, you can also earn some, capping out at 15 total. “Recruiting” members can be done in two ways, either getting new members or getting somebody back that has been gone for 3 seasons/6 months. Recruiting can be a great tool to earn TPE that many members never go near.

Here are the TPE requirements for players that are recruited in order for you to get TPE.

    The Player Store
Over the course of your career, your player will rack up money as they sign new contracts. One use for this money is to buy TPE, there are many different purchases you can make. If you plan on having a longer career however, it is smart to save up this money as you will be able to buy depreciation fighters which will make sure your player stays as good as they can be.

    Donations
Members can make donations to grant them a few small advantages in the VHL. Members can donate 5-15$ CAD (3.72-11.15 USD). Each 5$ lets you pick one perk listed below up to three picks. Donations can be done once per season, any time. The VHL also occasionally has donation drives, in which the community raises money
for different causes, sometimes TPE can be earned through these in either a single donation or when the community reaches a large goal.

    The Ones That Occur Randomly
Sometimes, we will be blessed with random TPE from the powers above. Often times this comes from the leagues anniversary or holidays. The amount of TPE given out is random and depends on who is giving it out and why. The biggest yearly event for the VHL is Christmas, in which every day you can post to enter a large raffle for prizes. Some of these prizes are TPE while others are real life video games or jerseys.

    Now what?
Once you’ve earned all these TPE, it’s time to start spending it. There are multiple guides to help members make builds. These can be found on the forums and through the VHL discord. Never be afraid to reach out to people if you need help, your GM’s, AGM’s, teammates, and even random members will always be there for you.

    Did I forget anything?
Probably, yes. The VHL has more ways than ever now to earn TPE and there's a good chance I missed something. As you play more and learn more, you’ll discover so many things about the league and ways to earn. Eventually, more things will be added, always make sure to keep an eye out for them. The most important thing about the league is not to be the best or have the highest TPE totals, but to make sure you’re happy with what you’re doing. Have fun.

If anyone notices any information wrong in this or thinks I should add anything, let me know and I'd be glad to improve it.

After being only one win away from the Renaissance Cup, the Rome Gladiators will try to be as competitive as last year. The captain of the last three seasons left the team this off-season, so I am proud to announce the leadership group for this season.

McWolf reacted to Renomitsu in Sunset Stars, Spanish Moon Struggles for Bratislava
Bratislava, Slovakia – After an absolutely horrendous 0-4 start, the Bratislava Watchmen have ostensibly righted a ship – their own – and stabilized to a 14-10 record through the first couple dozen games, culminating in a critical 4-2 win over the league-leading Vasteras Iron Eagles just in the last day.

“They seemed on the verge of just burning it all down and trading everyone away in an attempt to salvage the season,” one totally-not-dubious source reported to local media, “everyone was open for trade talks and it looked like the Moths were on their way out, yep, totally. Nobody has ever over-reacted to the first sim but this time it happened.”

Though the above source refuses to be named and seems to be putting controversial news out for the sake of clicks, which has never happened on the internet before, one player that is clearly struggling is Spanish Moon Moth – one of the free agent commodities from this offseason. His companion Sunset Moth has made a huge impact with the third-highest points on the team (20) as a defensemoth as well as an impressive 52 shots blocked, making the team’s trade seem as though it has paid off in spades. Unfortunately, they’ve only gotten truly half of what they planned on benefiting from as Spanish Moon lags behind with just 4 points generated and a pitiful 3.92 shot %.

I have had absolutely no control these days over what my brain decides to do. There are probably a million more “productive” things I could have done after work today, but I decided I’d work on some build guides, not for any of my existing players, that would be too easy. Ignoring the fact that most of them are depreciating now, and maybe I’m simply excited for the next era of United players to rush in, but I generally assume it is a general frustration with what seems to be a complete lack of, and yet utter obsession with logic STHS has. So here I am making 400-1200ish TPA builds for every player archetype I can think of, and the question hits my brain.

How little TPE can one spend to get to 95 DF?

This was a particular goal I had for my current player, just to be insane, and I thought I did a pretty good job. On the DF-providing hybrid attributes, I spent 600 TPE. My goal was to do it with the least amount of CK, while still remaining cost effective. I still think this was the best method for my player, so I’m not too worried that it wasn’t the perfect answer.

I’ll cut to the chase, but I think the most TPE optimal way to get to 95 DF is:

    90 DK
    75 BC
    95 PC
    94 DC

(this ended up being 2 TPE higher than the real answer, provided by Nykonax below)

    For a mere 587 (585) TPE! That’s barely a VHL player!

If anyone thinks they can do better, let me know!

And yes, I’ll get back to those builds!
