Nykonax reacted to Ricer13 in Calgary Wranglers, End of an Era
    Hello friends,

I am officially announcing my retirement as General Manager of the Calgary Wranglers. There are a few reasons as to why I have made this decision and now is the best time to take a step back from this role to better spend my time in other areas of the league and in my personal life.

I hold a pretty high bar for myself when it comes to maintaining a certain level of activity for any locker room that I am in charge of. The day that became a chore is the day I knew it was time for a much needed break. I also live a super busy personal life and this has also made it harder to give the locker room my full attention.

There is nothing to worry about in terms of my participation in the league. I still very much enjoy and love being apart of this league. I will have better focus on my player and the locker room I’m apart of there. I have my moderation gig that I’ll have more time to focus on and one day I do plan on stepping back into a GM role because it truly is a passion of mine.

Lastly, thank you to all the GMs I have had a pleasure to work with since I’ve started, all the AGMs who have worked along side me over the seasons and the players who grinded it out and bought into the way I wanted things to run in Calgary. I am not going to ping everyone who’s been an important part of this journey, I think you all know who you are at this point.

    Ricer, out!! 🎤 ⬇️

**I do recommend that @leandrofg be considered to step in as replacement. He has been running the team behind the scenes this past season and has a really good handle on how things are going in Calgary. He also has a long history with the organization. I will respect whatever decision is made for my replacement.**

I mean i imagine there's still some value in building a following of current users, because maybe in like 3 years you've quit the league and forgotten about it, then you get a random vhl post in your ig feed since you never unfollowed, and you're like "damn VHL was fun I should check out how it's doing now". Though I do agree random standing posts are not going to be driving new traffic to the site

I mean true, but then your at least making the active decision to not rejoin, when someone can totally make the opposite decision.

I feel like daily or any social media posts are not the way to go. Like people have said it's just spamming irrelevant content to a few people who are autopilot scrolling. If you want to advertise I feel like it needs to be done to a large audience who is actually paying attention, which is why reddit and youtube have been so good in terms of numbers, you have a targeted audience who are already paying attention and are actively reading/watching, so they are actually hearing what is said and get interested.

I think that recruitment needs to be much more focused on figuring out this method, instead of trying to manage social media. Recruitment should be looking at new avenues (new channels, twitch streams, forums, podcasts, etc), as well as figuring out how to improve retention from these avenues, since that's the biggest problem with them right now. Obviously it's been tried (new scripts and whatnot), but surely we can do better, start tracking some sort of analytics (views, retention rate, whatever), and work to improve those. I think investing effort into this instead of just shotgunning 1000 random instagram and twitter posts to the void is much more worthwhile.

If you do want to do social media though, I think the focus needs to be on either tiktok/yt shorts/ig reels, since I have seen like random roblox football leagues or like minecraft hockey leagues making posts about the league, their history, recent games, and getting relatively high interactions. This can be a task for someone on recruitment to look into and see what's making this work for them.

Anyways, why don't we just hire @badcolethetitan as recruitment head since he has a marketing degree, and then we just blame him for all the problems.

Sweet article! It's been featured on our IG story today! 🔥

As the only person who has been posting on our Instagram account since August 2023, I apologize for doing such a poor job and not meeting the VHL'S expectations. I thought featuring the work done by our members would not only help retain, but also recognize the hard work put in by our members as well as possibly help build our social media presence by catching users eyes. Daily posts and stories on Instagram have slowed down, including player of the week stats and weekly standings due to burnout and it being too much for one person to coordinate and build on each week.

We are working on getting a YouTube ad in place before the trade deadline if possible. We will be assessing the use of social media altogether.

I hope that you were not insulted by how I've used your graphics on the VHL Instagram account. If you were in anyway offended let me know and I can remove your posts.

In the meantime I hope you enjoy your article being featured as today's story. With a "sloppy" resize, an "unprofessional" filter and catchy tune to bring in the masses.

    2. Sounds like a pretty cool title, no complaints
    3. I think it'll help them, knowing that people are watching and recognizing their talent
    4. I'd say top 5 easily, maybe top 3 if we play well
    5. I'm not much of a ritual person
    6. Sounds pretty cool, I'd definitely be interested

    1. No I don't think so, i think the team just didn't show up when they needed to, but the pieces were all there.
    2. Saving some shots would be helpful
    3. I think both are great players who will contribute greatly to the franchise
    4. No, but if Calaway likes pineapple on pizza then it might be time to look for a new org.
    5. I'd agree, I think the team is strong and we've fixed some shortcomings
    6. Of course, he's a great player with a great heart.

    1. Exceeded my expectations for sure. 10/10
    2. Eh, I was hoping to have some more points after being traded to a contender, but everything kind of fell off. It's only the M though so I'm not too mad.
    3. Nah, Frost do Frost. Gives humanity to the team
    4. For sure, having someone who can lead on the blueline definitely reassures the rookies that if they make a mistake it'll be fine
    5. If the regular season says anything, I would expect us to make conference finals at least. It'll be close with Toronto.
    6. I mean that's kind of just a thing as they age. They'll be replaced with better younger talent. That's not to say they aren't key pieces of the team though
  16. Sad

    1. I would agree, I think we have an LR full of great people
    2. Probably not, playoffs definitely have less offense and teams will be figuring out how to shut them down. Need our secondary scorers to step up.
    3. I don't think it matters, the Dragons are definitely playing for the European market.
    4. It's definitely an option, but more of a last resort.
    5. Probably not, Lass and Adolfsen are just really sexy, if we put Geoff Bezos in there no way he's selling anything.
    6. Calaway is certainly the future of the franchise, so re-signing him was GM Frostbeard's most important duty this season.

fun fact: if we assume 11 players (6-4-1) for each team there would be 880 possible duos and 2640 trios!

Breakout Performance for Houston Bulls Forward Schwarzer

In the midst of the VHLM season, Joshua Schwarzer has emerged as a standout player for the Houston Bulls, contributing significantly to the team's efforts on the ice. With a current record of 4 wins, 8 losses, and 1 overtime loss, the Bulls are experiencing a mixed start to the season, but Schwarzer's presence has been a consistent bright spot.

Schwarzer's individual performance is nothing short of remarkable, amassing 8 goals and 14 assists in just 13 games played. His impressive point total reflects not only his scoring prowess but also his ability to set up plays and involve his teammates effectively. With a commendable +8 plus-minus rating, Schwarzer's presence on the ice has often correlated with the Bulls' success.

Schwarzer shared his thoughts on his transition from a fourth-line role in Philadelphia to being a key player for the Bulls: "It's been an invigorating change. While my previous role was important, stepping into a more substantial role here has been incredibly motivating. I'm embracing the added responsibilities and relishing the chance to contribute more. It's a testament to the organization's trust in me, and I'm determined to live up to that expectation."

As the VHLM season progresses, the Bulls focus remains on development throughout the season and Schwarzer hopes to continue to be a driving force behind the team's efforts to climb the standings.
