    Also remember not everyone is in the same timezone. Some have a drastic time difference. Sims are typically done at 7pm pst. Which is my time zone. I have a full time job, that's the time I get home from work. Sorry you've got to deal with the fact that you're in a different time zone and life isn't perfect 😪

    I really like this actually. These two colors flow really well. I like the whole “Vice City” vibes, really looks cool. My only critique is that the image looks a little low-res, but other than that it looks really good. Solid 8.5/10!

    It's been known for a long time that the VHLM is characterized by an extreme boom-bust cycle which often rewards teams for tanking--and subsequently stacking up multiple drafts' worth of picks at once--for targeted success in select seasons. It's also been almost a general consensus around the league that this isn't great for the environment of the VHLM and its (supposed) focus on player development. Proposed solutions to this over the years have included restrictions on holding picks to banning trading of picks entirely to changing the way the VHLM works to eliminate the draft altogether.

    Currently, VHLM rules allow for a maximum of three picks to be held in each of the first two rounds of any given draft. It's obvious that this is far too relaxed--so, we've got some news for you involving stricter restrictions on draft picks held by VHLM teams. Specifically:

    No team may hold more than two picks in each of the first two rounds of any VHLM draft. For example, a team may have up to two 1st-round picks and two 2nd-round picks, but no more. Each team must hold a minimum of four picks in the first four rounds of any draft. Each team must hold at least one pick in either the first or second round of any draft.

    This change is effective as of the S87 draft. Picks have already been moved for S86 such that this would not work for next season.

    We hope this does its job in ensuring that each VHLM team is able to maintain a reasonably competitive environment, whether buying or selling. Also--we hope we aren't just here to crack down. More freedoms to come in some form at some point 👁️

    In the shadows of @Beketov's dark, damp (but child-proofed) basement, a Spartan lurked for the better part of the past two years. Soon after he joined the VHL in March 2020, his aspirations were set high - with the hopes of one day holding significant roles in the league to affect positive change, for the betterment of the league as a whole. But the path would be difficult - spending time waiting in Beketov's dungeon, which was designed to drive even the most patient man insane - along with a steep cost to gather the big lad's favor.

    The price to pay? Becoming a convert to Satanism, fully immersing oneself in the works of Ghost. Joining - and surviving - the seedy organization called VSN, known for sending hyperactive members to their demise, never to be seen again. Willingly choosing to take on more and more responsibility (and league blame) in the hopes of one day overthrowing those at the top and creating a loyal cult of Spartan worshippers being able to take on a coveted position: a commissioner.

    Since the last World Cup back in S80, both the former commissioners in @Ricer13 and @bigAL moved on with their lives. BigAL literally.....moved halfway across the globe to become a hermit in the mountains of Hungary, teaching children how to attain enlightenment or something like that. Ricer took over other offseason tournament roles in the ProAM and WJC, which left the WC without leadership and without any interest from the greater community.

    One fateful day, the light at the top of the basement stairs turned on. Inviting, beckoning, for an opportunity never available before. As the Spartan rose from his dank corner, the floor exploded with a bright fucking yellow creature flying out of it, and immediately racing up to the top of the stairs. In bewilderment, the Spartan crept towards the stairs, only to see a googly-eyed, bald creature clinging to the foot of Beketov, screaming "GIVE ME THE COMMISSIONER JOB."

    Beketov, with a look of disgust and irritation, simply said "You two can deal with it together. Never bother me about the World Cup again."

    ---
    And that's a 100% accurate depiction of how @Minion and I got the WC commish job! In all seriousness, it's going to be a fun tournament to run and get our fingerprints on, while also trying to revive the competitive spirit that the tournament seems to have lost in recent iterations. We're very happy with the GMs hired, and think that it'll be a fantastic tournament to watch - especially with all the S75's lacing up for one final set of games before retirement.

    Hey everyone,

    @v.2 has informed me that he will officially be hanging up the jacket as AGM for the Stars, and while I'm disappointed to not get to work with him, the show as they say, must go on. So I will be officially looking for an AGM, with the following tasks in mind:
    - Active in LR
    - Active on both forum/discord
    - Weekly pressers
    - Keeping up with activity in LR (making sure people are doing tasks, keeping convos going, etc).

    I'm not looking for someone that has experience, but I can offer the necessary knowledge of GMing that I've gathered over the last 3+ years to the successful candidate, I'll also teach you how to use STHS if you don't know how to and prepare yourself essentially for a GM role of your own one day.

    Please reply here, and I will send an interview to everyone who applies in the next... 24 hours

    Thanks all!

    Viper reacted to Doomsday in Toronto Legion Jersey Retirements: S83
    Hello, VHL! While it has been a short time since I was hired as the general manager of the Toronto Legion, there is something that I noticed had fallen by the wayside, if you will, and the time has come to rectify that. During @Peace's tenure as general manager, he had retired the numbers of three players, bringing the total number of numbers retired by Toronto to twelve. However, those three players never got their time to shine and be recognized, and as an amateur VHL historian… and with special thanks to @Beketov, their time to be recognized for their excellence and service for the Toronto Legion is now.

    Let's get started, shall we?

    #10: Tzuyu - S63 - S69
    @Baozi

    Drafted fifth overall by Toronto in Season 63, Tzuyu was a constant source of consistency, leadership, and was the backbone of the great Toronto Legion teams of the 60’s. While he did achieve individual glory with the Alexander Valiq Trophy in Season 65, Tzuyu was best-known as the rock behind the back-to-back Continental Cup championships in Seasons 64 and 65, and served as the captain of the Legion beginning in Season 66. Consistently a point-per-game player, topping 20 goals from the blue line twice, he was no slouch defensively either, blocking at least 120 shots each season he played in Toronto, and finished with a positive +/- ratio in all but one season. While the VHL Hall of Fame has not called his name, at least not yet, Tzuyu will forever be remembered by the Toronto Legion, as his #10 will hang in the rafters as an enduring testament to his dedication to lead Toronto to victory.

    #17: Oyorra Arroyo - S64 - S67
    @omgitshim

    Originally drafted by the Calgary Wranglers, Oyorra Arroyo first lifted the Continental Cup with the team that drafted him second overall in Season 60, but he brought his championship pedigree with him to Toronto after he was acquired in a trade before Season 64. All Arroyo did upon his arrival was have the best two seasons of his career, including a Scotty Campbell Trophy-winning MVP season in Season 65 on the way to winning back-to-back Continental Cup championships. Even though he played half of his career in Calgary, the dominance he displayed in that shorter time was absolutely unforgettable, a major component of Toronto’s success as an offensive catalyst. For a time, Oyorra Arroyo was the best player in the entire VHL, and in Season 70, he was immortalized in the VHL Hall of Fame. Today, he claims his rightful place among Toronto’s elite with the retirement of his #17.

    #54: Jaxx Hextall - S71 - S77
    @ROOKIE745

    One of the VHLM’s all-time biggest draft day steals, Jaxx Hextall’s value was truly known by Rylan Peace when he was acquired from the HC Davos Dynamo after yet another BPA scandal at the VHL Entry Draft. In an era for Toronto where it seemed like the only consistency was that no one ever seemed to know what was coming next for the team, there was in fact a constant: consistent excellence in net from Jaxx Hextall. Despite all the ups and downs, Hextall made 447 starts for the Legion during his seven season career, second behind only the legendary Remy LeBeau in franchise history. Winning 30+ games five times in his career, with a save percentage of .918% and a GAA under 3, Hextall was an underrated goaltender of his era, but make no doubt about it: Jaxx Hextall is a stud, and his #54 will now join great Toronto goaltenders Aidan Shaw, Alex Gegeny, and Remy LeBeau in the rafters.

    Once again, congratulations to Tzuyu, Oyorra Arroyo, and Jaxx Hextall for joining the ranks of the elite alumni of the Toronto Legion to have their number retired! Without players such as you, this team would not have the storied history it does today, and the Toronto Legion are forever grateful to all three of you for being a treasured part of our story.

    We are Legion, and we are one.

    What made you decide to re-sign for 3 years as a member of the Legion?
    I love playing in the city of the Toronto, and I feel we have a real shot at going for a cup these next 3 years.
    Are you considering re-signing with Toronto for your final season, S86?
    That all depends on how these next 3 years go. I want to win a cup at some point, and that really is the main factor.
    Did getting nearly a point-per-game have anything to do with the contract?
    Well, I'd like to think I was re-signed because of the person I am, but my performance was definitely a reason too. I feel that I had a really good season, and I hope to build off of it and perform even better in the future.
    Do you see yourself as a captain of this team in the future?
    That's not up to me to decide, haha. I would love to be the captain of this team, but there are likely many other candidates that are more qualified and will likely be a better captain than I would be.
    What are your thoughts on the hiring of new GM, Thomas Landry II?
    I've known Thomas for a while now, and he was a really good assistant to the former GM, Erik. I feel like he'll lead us to plenty of cups in the future.
    That's all the time we have for today, thanks for joining me, Jakub!
    Thanks for having me.

    Looking around the VHL Forum, Discord, and  talking to some people who find themselves heavily invested in this community is helping me find my way into an unfamiliar place, that's for sure. I'm going to go ahead and be straight and completely honest. I, again, don't know Hockey. I remember briefly that I went to an Indy Fuel game when I was super young and I have a puck to prove for that. Otherwise? Yeah, no. It was never anything of my interest, and I also live in Indiana. We're a Basketball State, after all.

    However, with that knowledge in mind, the VHL did strike me into an intrigued manner. A lot of my friends in these other sim-leagues were in here, and for the most part they seemed to have nothing but positive remarks regarding. Therefore I did know about the VHL for quite some time, especially when we get a lot of people from here to come over into our league, the SBA, to create players. It's definitely helping out our draft classes, that's for sure. With a new goal on the horizon to learn Hockey, and be a decent player out of it, I think there will be some fun things to come from it with Zach Whelan (from which I got off a name generator).

    The future is bright, maybe?

    That is all.
