Krice has absolutely been the best member here for me. From the get-go I chose him for his enthusiasm to just want to be involved and to learn, he's been driven and never lost that drive or enthusiasm through the seasons he's been my AGM. He's always open to listen, always around to help when it's needed and he's always talking in the locker room engaging with the team. I know that Krice would absolutely be an excellent selection for the next GM of the Ottawa Lynx.

    1. The Wranglers have gone 9-5-0 this week and 16-8-0 on the season. That's good enough for 1st place. How do you remain in 1st?
We just need to keep playing our game. As a team we have really produced in the last few games. We continue that and we'll win and we'll remain 1st. Simple as that.

    2. Edwin The Encarnacion has 4 goals on the season. 3 of those are game winners. How is Edwin  so clutch?
Hes always been great. He keeps with the game, hes focused and determined to get that game winner.

    3. Should Sigard Gunnar actually play 60 mins a game or is he out to lunch ?
This guy needs to calm the f train down. The only guys who should be playing 60 mins a game is Jordan Tonn. He's actually godly and it's embarrassing that Gunnar thinks he deserves 60 minutes.

    4. What Mario Kart character would you select to play with ?
I would for sure go with a classic Mario or Luigi. They are just them. Thats why.

    5. Will the 2019-2020 NHL season return in any form?
I think that in 4 or 5 months the playoffs could start. They would do something like best of 3 then best of 7 for the finals and if they go into the next regular season it will just be shortened a bit.

    6. Your powerplay has suddenly improved to 21% this week. What was the reason ?
We have really been working hard on our PP and i think it finally paid off. Were playing well as a unit and that is contributing a lot.

Jordan Tonn has had a pretty good career. But now it has come to an end. Jordan had high hopes this season. He's on a fantastic team that is destroying the league and he plays on the 1st line with the top defence in the VHL. Jordan had 62 points in 72 games last season. Definitely not bad for a defenseman. So far this season he has put up 16 points in 26 games. I mean that's not terrible but Tonn's just not the same anymore. So the question is What Is Happening? Nothing has really changed. Tonn is continuing to update getting max TPE a week and he's playing with the same defensive partner as last season. So the question still stands. What Is Happening? Has he becoming the captain this season messed with him? Should Bush demote him to an Alternate? Will giving him more or less ice time change anything? These are all great questions but there is 1 question I didn't say. Is it that Jordan is getting old? Jordan is now married and has 2 kids. Could his age and grey hair be getting to him? There is only 1 way to find. Come back whenever i get around to writing another one of these to hear what Jordan thinks of this.

    Rush Down Lynx 5-3

Yukon Rush knocked off the Ottawa Lynx at home, 5-3 on two late power play goals. The win was Yukon's  fifth in a row and only the first place Lynx' third of the season through twenty four games.

Yukon lit the lamp first, by the hot hand of wing Gino DiGiannantonio his 17th assisted by Ray Sheilds. Late in the period, on an odd man rush, Yukon took a 2-0 lead on a goal who else, Gino DiGiannantonio, his 2nd goal of the game, from Captain Zyrok12 and Mickey Dickson at 19:42.
Ottawa got one back early in the second after Rush defenseman Bo Burrows was whistled for holding the stick penalty. Aamon Grim scored his 12th on a nice pass from Iangenere Risteneen. Yukon got the goal right back, his first of the season by Pietro Distefano, assisted by Zyrok12 and Trey Nets. Ottawa showed why they are the team to beat in the VHLM by scoring two goals, one minute apart to pull even at 3.  Adam Syreck scored his league leading 25th goal, assisted by Defenz Mann and Rich Dickbutt McFudderdudder at 8:47. Just 58 seconds later Iangenere Risteneen scored his 14rg from Izzy Velencia and Aamon Grim to tie things up.
The game stayed even till Yukon defenseman Alex Armstrong scored his 12th, on a nice pass from Vin Calia, on the power play to put Yukon ahead 4-3. Two minutes later, Yukon sealed it with another power play goal, this time from Ray Sheilds, assisted by Zyrok12 and Mickey Dickson at 18:14.
Nicholas Fomba was the winning goalie stopping 33 of 36 shots. Gino DiGiannantonio took home the player of the game honors. Yukon will leave for Mississauga in the morning.

                                                             Rush Route Hounds

Yukon route Mississauga 7-4 for their 6th straight win, improving their record to 16-7-1 on the season.

Rush wasted no time getting on the board early with a goal by Trey Nets assisted by Zyrock12 and Bo Borrows. It was Nets 5th of the season. Hounds even things up when Andrew Su scored his 21st, from John Blewitt. Yukon began the route with Ray Sheilds banging home a rebound, his 14th of the season, from Zyrok12 and Mickey Dickson. A minute later Vin Calia scored his 16th from Alex Armstrong to make it 3-1. They weren't threw yet as Gino DiGiannantonio opened the game up, with his 19th from Sheilds and 20th from Zyrok12 and Sheilds.
With a 5-1 lead in the 2nd period, DiGiannantonio completed the hat trick with his team leading 21st from Dickson and who else, Ray Sheilds. DiGiannantonio has been on fire for the Rush during this win streak, scoring 8 goals in that time.
Mississauga did their best to make a comeback with Su scoring his 2nd of the game from Joakim Sakic and  then Adil Mahmood, his 13th from Ryder Pyatt to cut the lead to 6-3. But 40 seconds later Ray Sheilds completed his 5 point performance with number 15 on the campaign, from Dickson and Armstrong. A late power play goal by Albert Stoner (3) to complete the scoring and a 7-4 thrashing.
Game winning goalie Nick Fomba stopped 35 of the 39 shots. Gino DiGiannantonio, with his hat trick was named the  play of the game despite Sheilds' 5 point performance. Yukon returns home Monday night, and goes for 7 straight wins against the Saskatoon Wild who have dropped 6 straight.

Give it a rest and let the applicants battle it out and present themselves.

MexicanCow123 reacted to Ricer13 in Yukon Rush - Who has been the top defenseman?
The Yukon Rush have played 13 games so far this season. They currently hold a record of 7-5-1 putting them 6th in the VHLM standings. The team has been hot and cold to start the season as they try to build some chemistry with one another. The bright spot on this team so far has to be the defensive core they have put together. Three of Yukon's defensemen are in the top 4 for defensemen scoring in the VHLM but which defensemen has been the most valuable for their team so far in the early season. I will take a minute to breakdown the four candidates and let you decide whos been the most valuable defender for the Rush.

    Zyrok

Zyrok started off slow but has recently jumped into a tie with Ray Sheilds for the points lead on the Rush roster. He is currently 2nd in defensemen scoring with 22 points in 13 games. In those 22 points he has 3 goals and a whopping 19 assists. He has clearly shown that he is a puck moving defensemen as he has been the key playmaker on this team so far this season. His defensive numbers are just as impressive as he currently has a +7 rating and 22 shots blocked. He strays away from the physical side of the game and that is okay but where he needs to improve is his shot. He has one of the lower shooting percentages on the team with a 9.68 % shooting percentage. If his play as of late is any indication of how Zyrok is going to play the rest of the season then the Yukon are in for a real treat.

    Alex Armstrong

Alex Armstrong has been Zyroks partner all season long so far. The two have proven to be a force out their together on the ice. Armstrongs currently sitting at 19 points which is third on the Rush in points and third among defenseman scoring in the VHLM. He has 6 goals and 13 assists and an impressive shooting percentage of 13.33%. He isn't afraid to shoot the puck and has done so very efficiently this season. I would say his defensive play has been better than Zyroks as he currently sits at a +11 plus/minus and 17 blocked shots of his own. Alex has only gotten better as the season has progressed and with him and Zyrok playing together this has to be one of the top pairings in the VHLM.

    Bo Burrows

Next up we have the GOAT - Bo Burrows, this player has also been a force for the Rush this season. He came out of the gates hot and has remained consistent so fair this season. He came out so hot that he was pushing to take a spot on the top line. Burrows sits only 1 points behind Armstrong and is 4th in defensemen scoring in the VHLM. He has 5 goals and 13 assists but has a higher shooting percentage than both Zyrok and Armstrong with at 14.29%. He isn't shy about playing the physical game either as he currently is second on the team with 45 hits behind only Ray Sheilds. Where Burrows needs work however is on the defensive end of the ice. He currently sits at a plus/minus of -7 which is tied for the worst among defensemen on the team. He isn't afraid however to put his body on the line as he has blocked 20 shots as well. I am excited about what Burrows is bringing to this team and he could very well push for a spot on the top line if he continues to progress this season. After all he is the GOAT.

    Joe Jacks

Lastly I wanted to talk about Joe Jacks. He is an new up and comer in this league and probably hasn't been the best defensemen for the Rush but that is okay. He is only going to get better as the season rolls on but lets take a dive into his season thus far anyways. He only has 5 points in 13 games and all five points have been assists. He has a 0% shooting percentage and needs some work in his defensive zone as he is tied with Burrows at a -7 plus/minus rating. He is tied among the Rush defensemen with 20 blocked shots but does shy away from the physical play as he only has 14 hits so far this season. Playing along side Burrows is only going to make Jacks a better player and this defensive core is sure to show him the way to becoming an elite defender in another season for the Rush.

Well there you have it, the Rush Defense have been spectacular so far this season. Its hard to say exactly which defender has been the Rush's MVP so far this season because they have all played so well.  Can either of them break away from the pack and become to the true number 1 defender on this team or will they all continue to push each other all season long and become one of the best defensive cores the VHLM has ever seen. I am interested to hear about who you think is currently the best Rush defensemen in the comments below!

In a couple weeks I am going to break down the forwards and the season they have had at that point. I will highlight the success stories as well as the disappointments to that point in the season. There is a lot of good info to be unpacked there and I am hoping at that point some of our forwards have broken out of their shell and start contributing on a regular basis for the Rush. At some point  would also like to include an article about the Rush's starting goalie Nicolas Fomba as well and touch on the VHLM career he's had to this point and whether or not he can get the job done for the Yukon Rush this season. Thanks again for tuning in I hope this was and insightful read.

    1. 2nd overall with a record of  7-3-0  This week.  Who expected this ?
Telling the truth right here, only I expected this ? I am a genius!

    2. The Wranglers are also first in goals for with 33 goals. Can you maintain this rate of scoring?
If the young kids are going to keep it up then ya i think everyone will continue to help them out and we'll finish 1st in goals for.

    3. Do you feel bad for Davos? They have scored only 11 goals in 10 games.
Na don't feel bad for them. They are terrible for a reason ?

    4. How long can you maintain your Home unbeaten streak? You're currently 5-0-0 at home with 21GF and 10GA. Compared to 2-3-0 on the Road 12GF and 14 GA.
Our fans give us a ton of energy i think we could go only losing like 5 games are home.

    5.  What's more important your 38 shots for per game avg or your 93+% penalty kill ?
I think they are both key parts of a team. You need the PK to be able to kill penalties and you also need shots getting on the net. They are both super important to a successful team.

    6.  50% of the Wranglers goals have come in the 1st period but only 29.7% of the Wranglers shots occur in period #1. Why are the Wranglers scoring so much in the 1st period ?
I think we are just always ready. We come out ready to play our game, but then we start to get a bit tired and that always hurts us.

    7. Realistically do you think this team can win the cup ?
I mean we are 1 point back of 1st so ya we should be in the finals again.

    8. If @Jubis joins in on a podcast, what is something you would like to know about him ?
    Everything.

    9. What's more surprising sophomore D Encarnacion having 12 points in 10 games or "rookie" goalie Lafontaine going 7-3-0 , 1 shutout , 2.39 GAA, 0.926 SV%  ??
I think they are both super surprising no one expected this type of play from either.

    10. Do you sleep on your side,  stomach or back?
    ALL.

MexicanCow123 reacted to VinCal in Rush storm into Minnesota with a 5-2 Win
Yukon stormed into Minnesota last night and on 47 shots on goal performance, walked away with a 5-2 victory.  This is the second victory against the defending champs this season.
Ray Sheilds got the Rush going in the first with his 5th of the season, assisted by no other then defenseman Zyrock12 and Mickey Dickson. Less then a minute later, Vin Calia, on the power play netted his 6th assisted by Gino DiGiannantonio to put Rush up 2-0.
Minnesota got one back late in the first when Robin Winter scored his 10th from Cheezy and DeYeeto at 17:53.
Period 2 started with a hooking penalty on Yukon's Jack John that put the Storm on a power play. After blocking a Storm shot,Joe Jacks fed the puck to Bo Burrows who led an odd man rush and set up Mickey Dickson for a shorthanded goal to give Yukon a 3-1 lead. a minute later with the Rush on a power play, Caption Zyrok12 scored assisted by  Digiannantonio and Alex Armstrong.
Shane Weibel scored for Minnesota in the third but Sheilds put the nail in the coffin with his 2nd of the game and 6th of the year assisted by Armstrong and Dickson.
Nick Fomba was again solid in the pipes stopping 34 of the 36 shots he faced while Wood McPine (Min) faced 47 shots by the Rush. Its very early in the season but the Yukon area is excited what was put together by @krice13 and @MexicanCow123 .

Kris Rice had a great rookie season which saw him finish 2nd in scoring among all rookies. If he can establish any sort of chemistry with his linemates call the breakout police!  I have him doubling his assists total. Wowsers 60 points !!!!

No doubt in my mind Lahtinen has a big increase in points. How much is the question. Calgary's depth makes it difficult to predict. Got you down for 20 goals and 35 points Lahtinen. Come out strong and prove me wrong. Could surpass all expectations and bust out for 50+points.

Ohdraka had a solid season making the jump to the VHL. Calgary is one of the deepest teams in the VHL. The Wranglers carry a large roster and their depth had Ondrej playing behind two other left wings. I see his numbers improving and being a solid contributor for his team. If Ohdraka surpasses my expectations I wouldnt be surprised. Hes a good player.

I have Encarnacion making a massive jump in points. With the departure of Cody Smith I have Edwin filling those shoes. With increased ice time I think he will thrive with the opportunity. Expect big things from this guy this season.

Lafontaine will be heavily relied upon this upcoming season. The rookie , turned #1 goalie will most likely play the max amount of games this season. Luckily for him he has a solid defense lineup in front of him. I see Lafontaine breaking out for a big season with Calgary. Recording over 40 wins !!!

    TOTALS
I wanted to see how realistic my predictions could be. Based on my player goal predictions this would have Calgary scoring 208 goals next season. 17 more goals then last season when they scored 191. For reference Moscow scored 250 goals last season and Vancouver 219 goals.

At the end of Game #72 of a successful regular season for the Calgary Wranglers, a foreboding 3-2 win over eventual Continental Cup champions, the Moscow Menace, the team handed out their 3-Star Award for S70. The Wranglers were a deep team and would go on to win the NA Conference only to lose in the finals to the Menace. Every night someone different would step up and make an impact that would help the team be competitive throughout the season, one in which they would accumulate 41 wins. After each regular season game, 3 Stars of the game would be chosen and after the final game, those 3 Star selections with the associated point totals (30 – 1st Star, 20 – 2nd, 10 – 3rd) were totaled and the Wranglers’ 3-Star Award was honored.

All 15 players on the roster garnered at least one selection with 12 earning at least one 1st Star during the course of the season. Early on in the year, it was a two-player race but during the second half, one player pulled away and took the reins of the Wranglers fortunes.

The winner of the Calgary Wranglers’ 3-Stars Award for S70 led the team in goals (17 more than the next closest scorer!), points, plus/minus, penalty minutes, hits, and tied for the lead in game-winning goals. He also led all forwards in assists.

    Congratulations to…

    S71 Team Captains Reveal

The Wranglers added some great youth last off-season and after a visit to the finals, losing out to Moscow in game six. The team looks to be back in the North American playoffs once again at the very least and with that we will lean on some of our senior members on the team for leadership this season including a new Captain, one new Assistant and one captain experienced assistant.

We are proud to announce the captains of your season 71 Calgary Wranglers

    (C) .D - Jordan Tonn @MexicanCow123
Tonn came to Calgary via trade last off-season and has already proven himself as a valuable locker room presence. He has also proven to be a selfless member of the team, switching from forward to defense and re-rolling into a top pairing player for the team. Now that Tonn is entering the twilight of his career it is time for him to take the C and use his experience to lead the team.

    (A) LW - Sigard Gunnar @Big Mac
Gunnar is a leader for the team and was last seasons captain. Gunnar would most likely be captain again this season if not for the fact Tonn is in his last season. I fully expect Gunnar to be more like a second captain which is great for the team with all the leadership we have kicking around.

    (A) LW - RJ Jubis @Jubis
Jubis has been one of the most vocal members of the Wranglers since he was drafted and now jumps in to the AGM role as well as taking an A for his first time in Calgary.
