Well, I would say I'm not surprised based on how we came into the season, but after heading into the trade deadline as sellers and sending some of our best players out for picks, you can now say that:
 
THE YUKON RUSH ARE PLAYOFF BOUND BABY!
 

 
This surprisingly but amazing news shocked the locker room, which caused many of champagne bottles to be busted open and lots of "This Is How We Do It"  to be blasted as loud as it can.
 
On entry into the locker room, you can see:
 
Kristof Welch@Juicehaving many of his traditional Hungarian shots and then keeling over into the toilet. His current condition is somewhere between "Where am I?" and blacking out.  
Germano Henchoz@RicoTheTrapGodtwerking in the middle of the locker room with a rhythm that would make any girl jealous.  
The Captain himself, Vick Fairchild @GreenGatohanding the Player of the Game Pickaxe with a waterfall of tears in his eyes to the General Manager @MexicanCow123who quickly grabbed the Pickaxe before, with a serious face, disregard the entire party going on to figure out playoff tactics with a mumble of "...what if we throw a banana on the ice to stop their offense..."  
Assistant Manager @fromtheinsideis seen running around chaotically as you could hear him yelling "We actually did it?!!?" while somehow making more of a mess of knocking things over albeit being the most sober in the room.  
Kloxified @Kloxifiedand Andrew Bowman @BrutalBoostcould be seen arm-wrestling over a pile of beer cans over who's starting in net in game 1 whilst saying some...quite choice words to each other.  
Everyone else in the locker room was already either passed out, or was abhorrently hammered and a walking menace to where Daddy Derek @DirtyDerekhad to live up to his name and be the team Daddy to take care of his fellow teammates.  
It was nothing but joy for the Rush players who fought tooth and nail all season in hopes that they would get to the playoffs like they did last year and live up to the potential that the management staff knew they had in them. Moments like these after such a rough middle part of the season is something to truly cherish and get excited about.
 
This was until Cow received a message on his phone, took a quick glance, immediately crumbled up his written paper of tactics, and stormed out of the room sceaming, "IT WAS ALL FOR THIS?"  which shocked everyone.
 
Confused, fromtheinside went to talk to Cow before coming back into the locker room to give the devastating news that would destroy any VHLM team's hearts, let alone "a scraping into the eighth seed" Yukon Rush.
 
"Guys, I don't know how to tell you this, but uh, we're facing Mexico City in the first round."
 
With an abrupt cut to the music, the fun times have stopped on the dime, as well as Kloxified letting Bowman win the arm-wrestling match. Now it was nothing but defeat and/or suffering in everyone's eyes and heart.
 
And on cue, The Tixter @Tixterbarged into the room and said, "Hey guys, I just got signed to the team! Are we celebrating or something?"

First off great writeup Laine, you really explained the tournament well.
 
Now I've said this before but I will say it again if people see this and are on the fence. The Victory ProAm is an amazing opportunity, especially for new players and people with management jobs in the VHLM and VHL. Last offseason I was coming off of my rookie season in the M. I got picked up off waivers by the Saskatoon Wild and although  I had a great time in Saskatoon, I really only knew the guys in that LR and that was pretty much the extent of my VHL social circle. I saw the post to sign up for the ProAm and I thought it sounded cool. I joined and then they said "we are going to let some new players sign up to be GMs". I jumped at this opportunity because I thought it would be fun and I really wanted to get some experience under my belt. Sure enough, I got picked to be a GM. I drafted a team with some VHL pros and a few guys from the M. We had a dope locker room and we ended up winning the tournament.  But coming out of that, I had met a ton of new people. Among those people were @IamMOOSE and @MexicanCow123, who players who I drafted.  I ended up getting to know these guys pretty well. Fast forward to the start of season 75. I was drafted 2nd overall by the San Diego Marlins (who Moose is AGM for) and I landed myself an AGM job for Yukon (serving under Cow). I really think neither of these things would have happened if I hadn't of signed up for the ProAm.  I can't recommend it enough. Also if you are in management it is a good way to scout some players you may want to draft in the near future!
 

The VHL as a whole tends to slow down during the offseason. The VHL and M drafts along with Free Agency provide some activity but it doesn't usually hold up the entire offseason, leading to quite a bit of inactivity until training camps commence. In the past, many members have tried to keep active during the offseason but nothing seems to stick. Myself, in partnership with @Zetterberg and @MexicanCow123 have come up with not only a solution to the offseason inactivity but also something that benefits the league as a whole: The Victory ProAM Tournament!

What is the Victory ProAM Tournament?
 
The Victory ProAM Tournament is a tournament put on by Myself, @Zetterberg and @MexicanCow123 during the offseason. Users can join by checking out the recruitment drive during the playoffs.

How does the Victory ProAM Tournament work?

The amount of teams will vary, but the overall structure stays the same. Different teams will be picked every offseason, with different GMs and AGMs at the helm every go around as well. To benefit newer players, we always try to make the GMs newer users or users with no GMing experience, not only to help teach them but to also give them the vital experience they need. Each GM is allowed to appoint one AGM for the entire tournament. Extra help will be available to the GMs besides their AGM, as many players alike help GMs when help is needed. GMs are allowed to name their own team, with names also changing every offseason.

The team building process begins once GMs are selected. A draft lottery is conducted to determine in which order GMs will pick throughout the draft. The draft board is put up with players going off as they are selected. The draft is in a snake order. Each GM must select 6 forwards, 4 defensemen and 2 goalies to complete their team. Skaters CAN be moved around to various positions, although we prefer you draft based on natural position (Ex: a forward can be moved to defense if needed). Once teams are selected the sim schedule will be uploaded with sims starting one or two days after the final playoff game is played.

Why should I care about the Victory ProAM Tournament?

There are many reasons to join the tournament. First and foremost, it helps cure the boredom that ensues during your standard VHL offseason. It also gives newer and older members a chance to make friends and communicate with one another. Last offseason, we saw many friendships come as a result of this tournament. Lastly, it helps give younger players experience with opportunities in GMing. It also benefits older players who can pass their skills down to young members.

I'm thankful for the VHL existing, for me personally it's been nice to have another social outlet, especially in 2020.  I will give a general thank you to everyone involved in making the place run, commissioners, staff, updaters, bog, simmers,  gms, heck even the agms, and any other position I'm not thinking of at the moment.

This idea is a very good one. I am thankful to a lot of members in this league. Id have to write a novel to show my support to everyone who I am thankful for.

I want to start by saying thank you to @GustavMattias and @Berocka. When I first joined this league I was extremely impressed with how things ran in Mississauga at the time. New members like myself were never left a stray and you guys were always there to help and kept that place bumping. You two are the reason I stuck with this league and that I am still apart of it over a year later.

Next I want to thank @Jubis for the experiences we had growing in the VHL together. We went through a complete organizational shift together, changed the perception of a team together and have always confided in each other when advice was needed. You are a really good dude Jubis and you have done some really great things in this league so far.

I wouldn't have gotten my start in GMing if it wasn't for @MexicanCow123 giving me an opportunity to become an AGM and giving me the tools to become a successful member in this league. Not only that, I would now consider Cow a friend. Thank you for all that you do and for all the things you continue to do for myself and for this league. #cowisanupdaterthatworksforfree

Next up is @Banackock, back when I was an AGM this guy saw something in me and when the time came he gave me the opportunity to finally become a GM. He handed me the keys to the expansion team, the Miami Marauders. I don't know what he saw in me back then but it has led to me having a lot of fun in this league ever since. He also brought me into the Bears family and although I have probably caused more grief than he would like I really am grateful for the experience that you have given me.

Almost done, I have to shout out my guy @Zetterberg, I watched this guy come into this league and grow to dominate this league. He is currently my AGM and I am thankful for the friendship we have created. I am really pulling for this guy and hope to see him as my equal when he one day gets the opportunity but until then he gets to put up with my shit

There are too many of you to tag but everyone who has been apart of the Miami Marauder family I love each and everyone of you. It has been an absolute blast and I cant wait for the next group of recruits to come through our ranks.

@OrbitingDeath  Ivo is one of the nicest guys I've met and is an incredible sim leaguer. Shares a birthday and also a Reds fan. Always happy to chat and see what's been going on and it's proved hugely valuable at some low points of my life.
 
@Victor He was very helpful when I first started and is still one of my favorite GM's having been in Davos with him. Incredible knowledge of the VHL
 
@STZ Who I haven't talked to much lately, but is a great guy that it was a always a pleasure to share a team LR with.

@Berocka and @dasboot My interactions with them lead me to believe that they are both quality guys and inviting me on to the One and a half Aussies podcast(even though I slept through the start time) has helped restore some self confidence that I'd lost lately. I let them down but they didn't even roast me particularly hard, so that was nice.

We had a few days of a crazy long distance relationship. It ended way to early but it's clear we both still have feelings for each other. I'm super excited for the future when your done with university and we can actually go hang out in person. You are such a beautiful girl Sam. Don't let other people, stress or anything put you down. Next up is @InstantRockstar I can't thank you enough for the opportunity you gave me oh about 10 season ago. Holy .... Time flys by I feel like it was just yesterday. Thank you so much IR, you shaped part of who I am today in the VHL. You showed me how to be a leader and how to welcome new members. I love you to death IR.

Next up @Ricer13about 5 seasons ago I got the chance to hire you as my very 1st AGM. I feel bad for all my AGMs after you. @Zetterberg You were a great AGM don't really want to compare you to Krice because someones feelings will be hurt. Z you have been one of the closest people to me on this site. Thank you for always being there for me. We've spent probably thousands of hours on discord just having a good time. I've loved the podcast were started together you've done an amazing job. Thanks for just being yourself. Love you bud. 
 
@fromtheinside My newest AGM. You came into this league storming with passion and excitement. You have been 100% committed to Yukon and every member that steps into our LR. You are an amazing writing podcaster AGM and Friend. I'm just lost for words. You are absolutely incredible. You're probably raising my expectations ever more for my next AGM. You encourage everyone on our team to work harder and harder everyday. You bring fun love and excitement to my LR. I feel like I'm just repeating myself now. Idk what else to say. Finally thank you to everyone I've met along the way. No one in this community has really made me cry so that's good. Thank you to everyone in Yukon who currently deals with me and previous Yukon people who were so glad to leave. Thank you to all my friends in Seattle we have an amazing LR of support and love. Super excited for the rest of my career with you all.

I would like to thank @Doomsday and @a_Ferk for giving me my start last season in the M. I knew nothingggg about sim leagues and these guys helped me a ton in my first season. I was lost and these guys constantly accepted me DMing them with questions about how to claim things, guidelines on posting, etc.  I seriously could not have asked for a better starting point in this league. Ill always have a special place in my heart for Sasky.
 
@PatrikLaine I will never forget the kindness you afforded me during the Victory ProAm tournament this offseason. Firstly getting me into the tournament and then giving me a shot to be a GM which was the most fun experience I have had so far. And then when the draft unexpectedly started while I was working you basically kept me afloat and helped me the whole way so thank you!!
 
@Zetterberg Z you also helped me alot in the ProAm but you also spent alot of time showing me some basics in Photoshop and were patient dealing with my amateur ways haha. Also you have been gracious with your time doing the VHL Podcast with me, Cow and Moose.  Between co-hosting and providing alot of graphic material for it, I couldn't have done it without you so thank you!
 
And finally @MexicanCow123, you took a chance on me. I literally had been in the league for like 5 weeks and still a largely unproven commodity. Despite that, you rolled the dice and picked me up as your AGM when you could have taken people with better resumes and people who have been around alot longer than me. So thank you for the chance, I hope you look back on it and are happy with your decision! Thank you
 
I could keep going, there are a ton of amazing people in this community. @Spartan and @Acydburn  have both shown me some wicked music that I've really enjoyed and even last night, @fishy took time to have a very informative conversation with me.
