    1. How is your off-season going?
Pretty good so far, been enjoying time with my family in quarantine. Continued to workout to get better and teached the kids a few tricks.
    2. Who do you think is going to go on to win the VHLM cup?
Didn't really checked the playoffs, but as said earlier, Yukon where really good this year, so they might end up on top.
    3. If you went up right now, which VHL team would you want to play for?
Honestly, I feel like I'm too early in my career to answer anything to this question, maybe in 1-2 seasons, but right now, I have no idea.
    4. What are your goals for next season?
I don't like to put any numbers on my goals, but I feel like I could really improve on the defensive side of the puck.
    5. If you had to switch positions right now, what would you switch to?
I wouldn't switch, been a winger my whole career, I'm very comfortable there.
    6. Do you have any good youtube videos you've been watching lately?
Mostly kids stuff since quarantine, they haven't let me watch my things, and I'm more of a Netflix guy.

    1. Only a handful of games left. What do we need to do to turn it up an extra notch and get some wins?
We have to be more responsible in defense, we let our goalie down too many times, we can't win games if we have to score 7 goals to beat the other team.
    2. What are your feelings on the new TPE catch up rules?
I feel like it is legit, help to bring down the gap between more experienced players and newer players that want to jump right in and not wait for the right time to get their career going, nice job on this one.
    3. What forum improvements (games, etc.) from other leagues would you like to see in the VHL?
I really like the game of the week concept from EFL, but on the other hand, I know how hard it would be to implement into hockey.
    4. We've got 2 players, @BigTittySmitty and @DizzyWithLogic, who are in the top 10 of shot blocks. What makes them so good at stopping the puck?
Simple, they have no fear, from what I've heard, the now retired Edward Vigneault showed em a few tricks on blocking shots effectively.
    5. We've all been stuck inside for a while, what are you gonna do first when things get back to normal?
Enjoy a nice cold one with the boys at the local pub, getting back into gym and start to train for my 1/2 marathon.
    6. What games, movies, music, or books have you been consuming lately?
Weirdly enough, I've watch a lot of documentaries on Netflix, especially Dirty Money and played some GTA online.

    1. We've got more wins than Houston but are still behind them. Do you think we should get rid of overtime points?
I don't think so, it is our job to work harder to get those tight games to overtime to get those few points.
    2. The World Juniors is starting soon, what country are you rooting for?
    CANADA BABY!
    3. How do you change your diet during the season?
Lot less of red meat, more white meat, lots of vegetables.
    4. Do you prefer a shorter or longer stick?
Longer stick change the kick point of the stick, I feel like I have better shots with them.
    5. Who has the best logo in the VHLM?
I like both Philadelphia and Mexico City.
    6. What's your favorite type of animal?
    Ones that are interactive

The Prague Phantoms have been the most active team on the trade front since season's end as they currently lead the VHL with 6 trades made so far, and the puck hasn't even dropped yet. They already had a few trades lined up to be announced even before the VHL playoffs were even done. It was a nice surprise after seeing GM, Glasser not make many impactful moves during his first two seasons with the team, but this year he's making a statement. The Phantoms are here to compete in S70.

In this article i'll be focusing on the new members of the Prague Phantoms that we've welcomed to our team. I'll be giving a short history on each player and ramble on about their stats. I will also explain how each player will fit in on the roster and what to expect out of them this season.

    Brick Wahl
    @BladeMaiden

January 8th was a very big day for the Phantoms. After trading away their captain, Erik Draven for picks, the Phantoms reached out and acquired one of the VHL's elite goaltenders, Brick Wahl in exchange for their 1st round pick and Owen May. Wahl has been the face of the Calgary Wranglers in my opinion and has backstopped the team since S64 reaching a total of 169 career wins in the 376 games he has under her belt. Wahl has also never had a season with a save percentage under the .914% posted in her rookie season which is absolutely amazing numbers. The Phantoms really needed a goaltender as last year's goaltender tandem didn't  work out very well last season. Owen May was also not committing to the team by not showing up to practice, so the Phantoms had to do something. Wahl brings a whole wealth of experience to the team and also brings a much needed stability in net for the team. Also what better veteran can you think of than Wahl to mentor team captain, Solomon Crawford so he can take over once Wahl retires, again. I think Wahl will be the most important addition the GM can make for this team and she instantly makes the team harder to beat.

    Edward Vigneault
    @Patpou22

On the same day that GM, Glasser acquired Wahl, he also acquired Edward Vigneault. Vigneault was acquired from the Moscow Menace for a 2nd round selection adding to a already deep Phantoms defense corps. Vigneault is not much older than the current core of players which makes him a good fit for the team. Vigneault however has more experience than any other D man on the team with 3 full seasons under his belt already. He hasn't really put up much offensive numbers as he has a career best 21 points in S68 but that's not what to expect out of him. Vigneault prides himself more on the defensive area of the game as he is slowly growing up to be one of the leagues better defensive defensemen. He had a plus/minus of +38 in his last season in Moscow so it's pretty mind boggling on why Moscow Gm, would get rid of the young player for a measily 2nd in the first place.  Either way the team is quite happy to welcome him aboard and I figure the man will be featured on the Phantom's first pairing this season.

    Roll Fizzlebeef

    @TacticalHammer

Phantom fans were really excited when news broke out that the team had acquired Fizzlebeef. The team had just lost their top point scorer to UFA and didn't have to wait long to see a possible replacement for that lost scoring in Fizzlebeef. The Phantoms and Wranglers once again were trade partners in this deal that seen both a first round pick in S72 and a third go to Calgary as they embrace a rebuild. Fizzlebeef, despite Calgary's poor season last year is coming off a career best 67 points and 2nd 30 goal season in a row. His season was also good enough to make him Calgary's top point getter in S69. Fizzlebeef has the potential to become Prague's next top scorer in S70 as he's expected to play important minutes as the Phantom's 1st line center and will be amongst the teams most experienced forwards along with Don Draper and newly acquired Teagan Glover, all drafted in the S65 VHL entry draft. He and Wahl should be able to help each other settle in nicely amongst the Phantoms.

    Teagan Glover
    @Bucky___lastard

The route Glover took to finally end up as a Phantom was an interesting one. He was traded twice in two days. First, the Toronto Legion traded him and a package of picks to Davos in return for multiple players. Then Davos traded him once more to the Phantoms in return for for Matthew Materazo, more of a cap saving move by the Phantoms. Glover is coming off a 49 point season where he failed to come near the bar he set for himself after S68's 72 point season. Prague is deep at center having 5 capable centerman on the roster (Fizzlebeef, Glover, BigShotty, Havlova and Pearson) so it'll be interesting to see where Glover will slot in the lineup as it appears someone is going to have to shift to the wing next year.I figure he'll be a part of the teams top 6 either as a centerman or winger.Glover is a player to watch as he has a lot to prove after last year.

Next season will definitely be an exciting one with all the new big name additions to this years roster. Fans has shown some of that excitement already as they sold out of season tickets for next year and many analysts have the Phantoms as a team poised to contend to make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. The Phantoms are coming off a season where they seen a slight improvement over their inaugural season in S68. They finished only ahead of the DC Dragons and Davos HC but still fell well short of making the playoffs. These past moves have completely changed the identity of this team and it should be a fun season to watch. I hope my article have offered some insight and information on the new members of the team

    Trade Analysis

A basic player-for-a-pick trade. The Moscow Menace found themselves with too many players on their roster and had to make a move, so they sent Edward Vigneault, a defensive blueliner entering the second half of his career, to the Prague Phantoms in exchange for Prague’s 2nd round pick this season. By offloading Vigneault, Moscow clears a roster spot for a potential rookie and they clear enough cap room to maybe make some splash in what appears to be a quiet free-agent market. On the receiving side, Prague only has to pay a 2nd rounder in what is looking like a very shallow draft to gain a solid defensive blueliner that instantly joins them as their third-best defenseman.

    Get to know the player

    Edward Vigneault
Edward Vigneault was the 33rd overall pick of the Season 66 Entry Draft. He joined the Moscow Menace the next season and has been a consistent defensive presence on their blueline for the last three seasons. He only accumulated 52 points in 216 games, but he did gather 204 hits and 203 shots blocked along with a +58 differential. He’s entering the back half of his career, meaning he’s expected to regress after this upcoming season, giving Prague a couple of seasons of strong defensive play from Vigneault before he regresses further and eventually retires.

I think it went pretty well, not many rookies get voted into the all star game.

It was fun winning games early in the season to get some playoff hype, but we knew going in that it was still a building year and I'm not disappointed in how the season went as a whole.

I think it comes down to Borwinn @Jubo07 and HHH @Beaviss. I'd have to say his better shooting percentage and top 4 face-off percentage gives the edge to HHH.

It's hard to just pick one person because I feel we all work together as a team so well. If I had to say anyone, I would say Alex Pearson @Jayrad28 just because our lines always seemed most stable when he was on the ice.

I'd take on anyone any time. Edward Vigneault @Patpou22 or Owen Nolan @studentized would be a good challenge since they both won most of their fights this season, and I'd love to knock them down and give them their first loss. I'd also be more than willing to punch that scumbag Brick Wahl @BladeMaiden right in the face whenever he wants.

It's hard to pick against Vancouver, especially when New York and Toronto aren't really credible threats. I won't count out Seattle, and anything can happen come playoffs time, but I'd be surprised if it's not Vancouver.

I don't think Malmo has much of a shot, but I wouldn't be shocked if any of the other 3 make it. I'd give the edge to Riga since they have a little better depth than Helsinki and a little better top line than Moscow.

It'd be a shame if the league lost it's only Mexican team, so let's just slide them over to Cancun. You still get a team in Mexico and now you have alliteration on top of it!

It's a fun promotion for the league and a great bit of generosity from the staff (and indirectly all the members whose donations helped pay for it).

I went to visit family for a few days that I hadn't gotten to see since last year.

4th Annual Unofficial VHL Regular Season Awards – S69
Another regular season has come to a close. That means we can dole out some regular season awards! Welcome everyone to the 4th Annual Unofficial VHL Regular Season Awards for S69.

These awards have been created by me. There is no voting process and they are not officially recognized by the VHL Board of Governors. I wrote descriptions for most of these award names in the original award post. This year I'm cutting down on that junk and getting straight to business. Without further ado, away we go:

The Pylon Award (worst +/- rating) – Basaraba Moose @Toasty
Basaraba came within 1 of tying Sven’s record from last season, but barely finished ahead with a -57 rating on the year. Basaraba had the lead in this award by a wide margin, the next closest players were at -38.

    Previous Pylon Award Winners:
    S68 – Sven Hitz (-58)
S67 - Piotr Jerwa and Nethila Dissanayake (-34)
    S66 - Bryce Zhields (-49)

The Gandhi Award (least penalty minutes) – Hugh Chan @HughJas_
There’s a little bit of controversy with this award this year. While there has never been an official requirement of minutes played to qualify for this award, I now recognize that we need to set it at 1,000 minutes. Because of that ruling, Hugh Chan wins the award with 4 PIM in 2050 minutes played. Honorable mention to Shane Mars who had 0 PIM, but only played 561 minutes.

    Previous Gandhi Award Winners:
    S68 – Jack Lynch (0 PIM, 1473 Minutes Played)
    S67 - Diljodh Starload (0 PIM, 2091 Minutes Played)
    S66 - Beau Buefordsson (0 PIM, 1939 Minutes Played)

The Timex Award (received most hits) – John Madden @Thranduil
John was hit an astounding 357 times this season, shattering the previous high of 302.

    Previous Timex Award Winners:
    S68 – Mikko Aaltonen (297 hits taken)
    S67 – Rauno Palo (302 hits taken)
    S66 - Beau Louth (300 hits taken)

The John Wayne Award (most shots on goal) - Julius Freeman @rjfryman
Julius took another step and fired the puck on net 452 times. Barely beating Randoms (448) and Julian Borwinn (447).

    Previous John Wayne Award Winners:
    S68 – Rylan Peace (466 shots)
    S67 – Matt Thompson (495 shots)
    S66 – Shane Mars (533 shots)

The “Hit the Broadside of the Barn” Award (most own shots blocked) - Julian Borwinn @Jubo07
Julian had 136 of his shots blocked.

    Previous HtBotB Award Winners:
    S68 – Rylan Peace (144 shots blocked)
    S67 - Beau Louth (153 shots blocked)
    S66 - Oyorra Arroyo (142 shots blocked)

The “Can’t Hit the Broadside of the Barn” Award (most own shots missed) - Elias Dahlberg @Nykonax
Did the fact that Elias led the league with 320 missed shots factor in to his decision to retire?

    Previous CHtBotB Award Winners:
    S68 – Rylan Peace (351 shots missed)
    S67 - Beau Louth (364 shots missed)
    S66 – Roctrion King (372 shots missed)

The New Shin Pads Award (most blocked shots) – Guillaume Fontenette @okochastar
Guillaume takes home fresh new shin pads after blocking 166 shots this season. Last year’s winner, Seabass Perrin finished 2nd with 147 blocked shots.

Previous New Shin Pads Award Winners:
    S68 – Seabass Perrin (207 shots blocked)
    S67 - Piotr Jerwa (170 shots blocked)
    S66 - Lando Baxter (189 shots blocked)

The Tired Legs Award (most minutes played) - John Madden @Thranduil
In back to back years, the minutes played leader is also the most hit player. John averaged 31.38 minutes per game for a total of 2,259 minutes this season.

    Previous Tired Legs Award Winners:
    S68 – Mikko Aaltonen (2,290 minutes)
    S67 - Shawn Glade (2,226 minutes)
    S66 - Robert Malenko (2,324 minutes)

The Snap! Award (most power play minutes) - Elias Dahlberg @Nykonax
Elias spent 368 minutes on the power play.

    Previous Snap! Award Winners:
S68 – Joseph McWolf (351 power play minutes)
S67 - Beau Louth (437 power play minutes)
S66 - Jake Davis (412 power play minutes)

The 1 vs. 100 Award (most time on penalty kill) - Wolf Stansson Jr @Cornholio
Prague occupied the top 4 spots for penalty kill minutes. Wolf led everyone with 328 minutes on the penalty kill.

Previous 1 vs. 100 Award Winners:
    S68 – Jack Lynch (353 minutes)
    S67 - Aron Nielsen (374 minutes)
    S66 - Lew Bronstein (352 minutes)

The Sean Archer Award (highest face-off win %) - Rauno Palo @jRuutu
Much like Podrick last year, Rauno ends his career on a high note, winning 59.45% of his face-offs. He barely beat out Joel Ylonen, who had 59.41%.

    Previous Sean Archer Award Winners:
    S68 – Podrick Cast (62.56%)
    S67 - Beau Louth (63.09%)
    S66 – Rauno Palo (63.10%)

The Castor Troy Award (lowest face-off win %) - Zeno Miniti @Zeno
Zeno had a league low 32.27% face-offs won.

    Previous Castor Troy Award Winners:
    S68 – Gritty (36.31%)
    S67 - Gucci Garrop (35.07%)
    S66 - Bryce Zhields (30%)

The Triple Deke Award (most penalty shot goals) - Owen Nolan @studentized
Owen scored 6 penalty shot goals out of 11 attempts.

    Previous Triple Deke Award Winners:
S68 – Jorgon Weyed (6 penalty shot goals)
S67 - Veran Dragomir (8 penalty shot goals)
S66 - Leph Twinger (5 penalty shot goals)

The Rocky Award (most fights won) - Edward Vigneault @Patpou22
Edward won the award with 4 fights won. His fight record was 4-0-2 the season. That gave him the award nod over Hiroshi Okada (4-1-4).

    Previous Rocky Award Winners:
S68 – Tyler Barabash Jr (2 fights won)
    S67 – ACL TEAR (6 fights won)

S67 - Kronos Bailey and Hunter Hearst Helmsley (4 fights lost)
    S66 - Rauno Palo (3 fights lost)

The Stars Award (most stars won) - Julian Borwinn @Jubo07
Julian had 27 total stars awarded to him this season, including a league high 13 1st stars!

    Previous Stars Award Winners:
    S68 – Matt Thompson (32 total stars)
    S67 - Rauno Palo (25 total stars)
    S66 - Matt Thompson (28 total stars)

The “Always a Bridesmaid” Award (most stars without winning 1st star) – Tzuyu @tfong
Tzuyu won 12 stars without winning the 1st star this season.

    Previous Bridesmaid Award Winners:
    S68 – Zeno Miniti (9 stars)
    S67 - Dan Baillie (13 stars)
    S66 - Mikka Pajari (7 stars)

The Biggest Backpack Award (player with the largest difference in points from the rest of their team) - John Madden @Thranduil
Are we seeing a pattern here? Last season Mikko Aaltonen won the same 3 awards John Madden won this year. Madden scored 28 more points than his closest teammate, Basaraba Moose.

    Previous Backpack Award Winners:
S68 – Mikko Aaltonen (28 points more than teammate)
S67 - Podrick Cast (23 points more than teammate)

This concludes the unofficial award ceremony. Thank you to everyone reading. Congratulations and/or condolences to all the winners! Have a good night!

Patpou22 reacted to omgitshim in Unsung Heroes: The Enforcer
Not all heroes wear capes, and not all hockey players score points. There are some players who make their presence known outside of the scoreboard. Today we take a look at one of those players: the legendary Edward Vigneault. @Patpou22 When it comes to sticking up for his teammates and beating the crud out of the opponent, none do it better than Vigneault, who leads the entire VHL with 4 fights won. He has been in 6 fights total, and while he fought to a draw twice, he has never lost. No one else with that many fights can say the same. Vigneault's willingness to throw hands gives a huge boost of morale to the rest of the team, as they know he's willing to fight for any injustice that haunts the team. Despite his reputation as a physical enforcer, Vigneault is actually on pace to set career lows in both hits and penalty minutes this season. Still, while he hasn't been rocking the stat sheet, one can see the Moscow has been a much better team while he is on the ice. Just his presence strikes fear in the hearts of his opponents. Many have been seen making early passes just to avoid the contact, and some have even about faced and skated the wrong direction to avoid him. People often give a lot of credit to Randoms, Jaguar, or Smitty for Moscow's success, but make no mistake, Vigneault is the real reason for Moscow's success this season.

I will finally give my 2 cents for this whole thing - I feel like the change will only better the league and help members feel better. The fact that VHL takes this stance makes me happy as it shows that we value change and member involvement more than anything else. Let's leave this stuff behind and show why VHL is such a great place to be a part of!
