    Season conclusion for Aleksander Rodriguez

Around 2 months ago, Aleksander Rodriguez was approached by a bunch of teams to sign a one year deal contract while still being eligible of being a VHLM draftee. He ultimately chose the Ottawa Lynx to become his home after thinking for a long time, but  the rookie had a rough start at the beginning of the season by not having the production that he desired, learning a lot of stuff about the VHLM and earning a lot of experience because of him being completely new in this league. But in the middle of the season, the Ottawa Lynx were on fire by winning multiple clutch games and being seeded 2th place in the league. They were only 2 points behind first place. At the same time, Aleksander Rodriguez stats sky rocket in the ceiling, almost being a point per game. He will need to thank Nyko, his trainer, for that boost. At the same time, Rodriguez taught that his team could actually make the playoff easily and maybe even win the cup while continuing to produce at his rate. Unfortunately, reality hit us pretty hard before the trading deadline. The Ottawa Lynx loss multiple game that they could have won and that made it Esso make a big decision, TO TANK! Our stars like J.Lynx and C.Past were traded to a better place and Aleksander Rodriguez goals were crushed in an instant. The team did horrible at the end of the season, earning the worst second team in the league. Luckily for Rodriguez, his stats were quite really good for a new guy and from doing decently on a bad team because his goals was to become a great playmaker but a 24 goal season is quite good for a guy who didn’t even trained in scoring until after the season. It made him being a top 30 rookie in the rankings and rumours says that he could even be drafted a lot higher, yes the second round! Rodriguez doesn’t know if any of this is true, but he is working hard by training every day while watching the playoff of the VHLM.
More time passes by and Rodriguez realize that he will actually be drafted to a VHL team within weeks. He can’t hide his excitement. A reporter reproached Rodriguez for his comments on the draft and his goals next season and this was his answer.

Aleksander Rodriguez: Yesterday, I saw an article about me being potentially a top 5 RW in the draft. I am 6th right now but with a little bit of work and dedication then that 5th spot would be mine, this made me really happy because I know that there is a lot of talented forwards in the draft and that I’m not at the level as a S.Mars and those guys. But to receive such praise is giving me even more confidence in me and it motivates me to become A LOT better then right now. And for my goals, I hope that my VHL team will let me stay down in the VHLM and hopefully that the Ottawa Lynx draft me in the VHLM draft since I’m still eligible for that. I want to win a cup with these guys next season, to thank them for what they did to me and made me become a good player

Btw, I have a question for the reporters. Am I one of the best VHLM draftee? I am really curious about that and I would love to know the answer because I don’t know a lot of VHLM draftee that better then me.

This concludes the season for Aleksander Rodriguez, see you next season!

ThePerfectNut reacted to bluesfan55 in The Top 5 Right Wingers In The Draft [1/2]
The S66 Draft is full of right wing talent. Here’s the top five RWs in this massive (and deep) draft class.

    Mikko Aaltonen
    TPE: 241
    Nationality: Finland
    Team: Las Vegas Aces

One of the top prospects from the beginning of the season was Finnish winger Mikko Aaltonen and he’s lived up to that billing. Mikko has scored 82 points in 62 games split between Las Vegas and the team that drafted him in Philadelphia. Aaltonen is a sniper, plain and simple. He’s got 80 scoring and 79 skating to go along with 70 puck handling, but can also defend well (75). Mikko is a no-doubt first rounder who’ll be a star for whatever team he goes to.

Verdict: Aaltonen is a top scorer with first-line potential (elite at his peak). He’s a lock for going in the top 5.

    Arnor Sigurdsson
    TPE: 209
    Nationality: Icelandic
    Team: Yukon Rush

Sigurdsson has been a riser in mocks as of late, going from missing out on the first round to being a sure fire late first round to early second round pick. His production has ramped up in recent weeks, as Arnor recently hit a point per game average with 58 points in 57 games for the Rush (35 goals, 33 assists). Sigurdsson’s what you would call a total power forward. His main strengths are scoring (74), skating (70), strength (70), and puck handling (70). There have been questions about his build, and whether he’d stay at power forward or move to becoming an all-round player (or becoming a defenseman since he has good stats for one), but there’s no doubt that the kid’s got talent.

Verdict: Sigurdsson has top 6 potential. I see him going in the 8-12 range during the draft.

    Shawnomir Jagr
    TPE: 205
    Nationality: Czech
    Team: Saskatoon Wild

Another play who’s risen as of late is Shawnomir Jagr. Jagr was stolen by Saskatoon at 18th Overall in the last VHLM draft and has been one of their best players, with an astounding 95 points. When looking at his build, you can tell that he’s built to score. Jagr has 83 scoring, 70 skating, and 70 puck handling. However, Jagr is strong (70 strength) and a solid defender (72). This is a top scorer who might fly under the radar, so keep an eye out for him.

Verdict: Like Sigurdsson, expect him to go in the 8-12 range. He’s got top 6 potential as a scorer.

    Nethila Dissanayake
    TPE: 166
    Nationality: Sri Lankan
    Team: Saskatoon Wild

Another Saskatoon Wild player makes the list as Nethila Dissanayake has proven himself to be a steal in the VHLM Draft after going at 32nd Overall. Dissanayake has had a great season to date with 72 points. It looks like Nethila is an offensive machine, with 78 scoring and 70 passing. He’s also got the finesse skills on lock with 71 skating and 70 puck handling, but there could be concerns about his lack of strength (43) for his massive 6’8” frame.

Verdict: Dissanayake will be a steal wherever he goes, most likely in the second round. He’s got real good potential (top 6).

    John Frostbeard
    TPE: 154
    Nationality: Latvian
    Team: Yukon Rush

Everyone knows that Philadelphia sold their team hard to tank this season and one of the players they traded was John Frostbeard. The Latvian has been solid for both Philadelphia and Yukon (his new team), with 64 points (a shade under a point per game). Frostbeard is a playmaker, with 70 passing, 69 puckhandling (nice) and 70 skating, and as such has tacked up 45 assists so far. However, he can also defend (70) as well. Frostbeard, like Dissanayake before him, needs to work on his strength, as the 6’4” man only has 45 strength. His scoring (60) could also be an issue, but with his production, I wouldn’t sweat it.

Verdict: Frostbeard will most likely go in either the late second or early third round where he’ll be a massive steal. He’s got potential to be a nice top 9 forward, but with hard work and dedication I can see him cracking a top 6 role.

This is a deep class, but before I end this, I wanna give a shoutout to Mat Tocco, Emil Passerelli, and Aleksander Rodriguez, three promising RWs who recently broke 100 TPE and could be some really nice pieces for their VHL teams. We’ve got a really nice class this year and I really can’t wait to see everyone get drafted (I know I’ve said this a lot, and it’s because I’m really looking forward to the draft). Good luck to you all!

    Early Life and Hockey Success
Hockey player Aleksander Rodriguez was born in New York City in Brooklyn, USA, on September 12th, 2002. Tragedy and trauma followed him from an early age: When he was a baby, his brother, Roger, died from pneumonia; another brother, Mike, passed from a heart attack when he was 10.

Rodriguez's childhood was shaped by modesty. Not long after his birth, he moved with his family to the outskirts of New Jersey, making a home in a tall high-rise building that was surrounded by a crumbling neighborhood. To escape his surroundings and strict public school, Rodriguez turned to hockey, pouring everything he had into the sport. While neither of his parents were familiar with hockey themselves, they reached out to friends in the neighborhood to make sure that he had as many resources as he needed in order to learn the game. He played in a number of youth leagues in his early years, but the boy was certain that his main priority would always be his education.

Rodriguez when he was only 5 year old.

Aleksander Rodriguez was just 2 years old when he first started skating and the young Rodriguez spent countless hours on the ice, honing his talents as a skater, shooter and passer. As a result, Rodriguez often played in leagues that catered to older boys. The age and size differences between him and his competition mattered little. In his final year of peewee hockey he scored an improbable 399 goals, 1 short from that 400th goals unluckily.

Aleksander Rodriguez at 6 year old. (Trying to play righty for fun)

By the age of 7 he'd significantly distanced himself talent-wise from other kids his age. The gap only widened with each year. At the age of 10, Rodriguez scored 159 goals in just 55 games for his hometown youth club.

Aleksander Rodriguez at 10 year old.

By the time he was a teenager, Rodriguez was making waves across Canada with his play. He starred for the Omaha Knights of the United States Hockey League in 2016-2017 and the Indianapolis Capitals of the American Hockey League the following season, winning Rookie of the Year honors both times.

Aleksander Rodriguez at 14 year old.

    Rodriguez’s struggles

The biggest challenge for young Rodriguez was the language barrier. Although her mother speaks fluent English, their household spoke fluent Spanish, which they are immigrated from Mexico, so he didn't know English too well. When coming over to Canada it was hard for 9 year old Rodriguez to communicate with anyone other than his parents. Along with all of the on the ice work he began doing, he also was motivated to study English hard. He was homeschooled until age 11, while his family did everything they could to help him learn the language. After 2 years of studying hard, he was finally able to join a real good school, where he could learn like a normal Canadian student. It took him until the age of 13 before he was fluent in English, this helped him so much as now he doesn't need his mother to translate with the coaches he works with.

Rodriguez’s Gets Offers From the VHLM

Aleksander Rodriguez thought for sure that opting out of the VHLM Draft would completely kill his chance at ever playing in the VHLM. It was more important to him to focus on his school and finishing it together with his family as one. With that being said, he was so dominant during his young hockey career by earning so many exceptional accolades that he had VHLM scouts noticing. Rodriguez wasn't eligible for the VHLM draft, but apparently after talking to some scouts he would have gone high in that draft if had he been eligible, I was hearing top 5 quality.

Aleksander Rodriguez at 16 year old (Yes, he cut that wicked hair unfortunately)

After the draft Rodriguez got calls from almost every single VHLM team, as he was now eligible to sign and still be eligible for the next VHLM draft AND VHL draft! This completely shocked Rodriguez as he wasn't even aware these teams were scouting him throughout his life. Being the only family member going the route of the VHLM, he was finally alone, so it was a tough decision for him on where to sign. With his father's help he ultimately decided to sign with Ottawa, although both Halifax and Philadelphia were close 2nds. Ottawa is in Canada, and looked poise to compete for a championship right away. He would go on to be a solid top 6 player for the team, and is looking like he's going to go in the first 2 rounds in the upcoming S66 VHL Draft!

    Player Review

    Pros

Skating: It's been part of his focus for a while now, preparing to skate at a pro level has made Rodriguez one of the fastest skaters in the VHLM next season. It certainly doesn't hurt that the youngster being six foot five has a massive stride.

Passing: Aleksander Rodriguez very essence of his game is his passing ability. He has one of the best IQ in the league and he has tremendous vision on the ice. He is an really unselfish superstar because he loves to set up his teammates by making them an easier way to score for them.

Silky Mitts: Imagine you see a hockey player with soft hands who can dangle the puck like only the greats. Rodriguez is one of those players, the young star is set to become one of the greatest Left Wingers to ever play in the Victory Hockey League.

    Cons

The Celly:  Rodriguez is a showboat and it drives coaches crazy. As a fan of the game, some people may love this guys antics but it is over the top at times and can cost the team in multiple different ways during the season. But hopefully his antics will change once reaching the VHL level.

His +/-: As seen from his VHLM stats, Rodriguez team defense is still lacking, but he is trying his best to improve on that regard for the next season. Maybe it will get better once the team performs a lot better next year.

Strength: Even tho he is tall and pretty well built. Aleksander Rodriguez is a little bit physically weak and not strong, but he is hitting the gym over the off season to improve those stats for next season.

What will happen next for the young superstar Latino player Aleksander Rodriguez!

Aleksander Rodriguez: « I will become the best passer in VHL history for the sake of my deceased brothers and everyone who were there for my life.»

The start of the year wasn’t what Aleksander Rodriguez expected. The game was different, he was struggling a little bit by perfoming and his team was a bottom 3 team. This week, Aleksander Rodriguez is only 4 pts behind a point a game and is somewhere around the top 35 in pts, not bad if I say so myself for a first timer like him! And he is somehow scoring goals? He wanted to become a pure playmaker, but helping the team win some clutch game by scoring feels better  ;) , though his +/- are not getting better. It would be hat aspect of the game that he needs to improve before the playoff. Anyway, the Ottawa Lynx are 3rd place this week and we are only like 2 pts behind 1st place. Like Rodriguez said at the start of the year, he believe in his team and will do anything to win. Hopefully we get even better then right now and maybe win a cup! Hey, it never hurts to dream

    A Look at the Lynx
    A New Series

    Intro
Hey, I'm the guy who did the VHLM: Scoped series, and this season, I'll be switching it up a bit. Each week, or twice a week, I’ll review a team, and talk about the players, GM’s, and overall my thoughts. This first week I gotta do my own team - the Ottawa Lynx

    GM’s
What better way to start then talking about myself. But first I’ll start with Esso. Esso is completely incompetent, and just sits and eats baguettes. Yeah no, I’m kidding. Esso joined the VHL like an hour after me in October, and he’s been active ever since. We considered ourselves rivals, but we all know who’s better. He was the AGM for previous GM, diamond_ace, last season before d_a became a commish, and once he found out ace was becoming a commie, he asked me if I wanted to be his AGM, which I said yes to. I even denied an offer from Blade and Shawn probably would’ve offered me, but I told him that my ass belonged to Esso now.

Now to talk about myself, yay! I’m the best AGM to ever live, I’m the best VHL player ever, and I’m the best recruiter. Like I said above, Esso asked me to be his AGM, and I like to think I’ve been pretty good. I did our current lines, so don’t let Esso take credit for the dream team that Ottawa is.

    Players
What would a team be without its players… well it would be a team with just GM’s. So players make the team. Me and Esso’s first pick in the S65 draft was a 4th rounder. Even then we had some guys on our list. 2 of them were Gaudette88 and Inf1d3l. Gaudette was a guy who was active in the VHL discord, and we had just saw him like a day before the draft. On the other hand Inf1d3l is one of Esso’s friends, and he knows him well. We decided to grab Inf1d3l, and that pick definitely worked out. Our next pick was round 6, where we were looking to grab a goalie, and we really wanted Sunny Burst, but Jubo cucked us, and took him as a backup, so we decided to take Bohne, who we know from the SHL, and said he might be active. In the 7th, we had to grab a goalie, and Pouta, who looked to be inactive was still there, and we kind of had to grab him, as he was better than a bot. Luckily I knew him from another league, and I was able to bring him back from the dead.

On the waivers side of things, me and Esso are both in another sim league, and we were able to recruit some guys from our teams there, and one of them is the owner of the SHL
Past, Harju, Collins, Srraxxarreakex II, and De Rossi are all SHL guys, and probably about half our team is from the SHL.

Returning is the best player in the league, Jack Lynch, who has been very active in our LR, and has been named our captain. He’s been on a tear, and has been helping new people, which is exactly what we're looking for in a captain. The other person returning is Draper who’s also been active in the LR, and is one of our alternate captains.

Another waiver pickup was Alexsander Rodriguez. He joined during the massive recruitment from Cyn’s channel, and joined our discord and has been active, asking questions, hanging out, and chatting with us. His player has performed well, and he’s the exact kind of member that we love to have in the VHLM.

As our team improves, we certainly have a good shot at playoffs, and can probably make it through the wildcard, but I highly doubt we make it to the finals, or even win, unless everyone goes on a tear. Or we could just pull S63 Ottawa when I was there, and beat the Yukon in the semi’s with a 6 shot win, and make the finals, which I hope to do.

    Final Thoughts
With the Lynx in 5th, we've definitely done better than Esso and I could have imagined, especially with only having a 4th, 6th, and 7th round pick in the draft. We were in 3rd the other day, but I feel like our place in the standings is inflated by playing Sask like 14 times. Our team is still developing, and we’ll only improve as the season goes on. Special teams needs some work, but we’ve found some good 5v5 lines, and will probably stick with them for a short while. Couple tough losses, and lucky wins, but overall we’ve performed very well. Excited to see how it goes as the season goes on. I also asked Esso for his thoughts, and this is what he had to say:

"We are doing great right now, young guys are developing, Lynch is one if not the best player in the league. I can hope for a playoff push and squeeze in the wildcard position."

Thanks for reading this series. Will probably do an expansion team next on this review, unless something big happens, or I decide to do someone else.

  11. Cheers
ThePerfectNut got a reaction from RunnerBert11 in The struggles of a VHML rookie
It is finnaly here, the start of the VHML season went underway last week. Aleksander Rodriguez on the Ottawa Lynx is not having a bad season for a first timer but it isn’t what he expected. 5 points in 8 games isn’t bad but Rodriguez needs to face reality, you can’t only pass in Hockey. He is a -6 on the season so far and he’s defense is somewhat affecting the team a little bit, but with the recent new lines he may turn it around. Rodriguez now knows how hard this league is and that defense is indeed a big factor in Hockey. The Ottawa Lynx are last in the league right now, but Rodriguez still has fire in his eyes. He ain’t giving up and will work even more harder now to help the team win no matter and prove other people wrong.

See you next time on Aleksander Rodriguez Career Journal!

I learned a lot of stuff from my peers and tutors these last couple of days and I can say it was an amazing experience to have, I grew a lot from a player perspective and I am gaining more and more confidence everyday with these guys. I am really excited for this season with the Ottawa Lynx, but I know a lot of people believe that we are the worst team in our league. Even though that I am a rookie, I want to prove those people wrong and help the team win as much as possible. I hope we can do a season that we will be proud of in the near future. I am sure a lot of rookies felt that way in the past and maybe things didnt go as expected so I will try my best that my career doesnt go that way as well. Go Lynx Go!
