fonziGG got a reaction from Triller in Olivier Gauthiers Experience in Ottawa
Ottawa was a humbling experience for me, personally. I think I deserved to start at least once before I joined them but honestly, I didn't. I was not prepared for the level of play at the VHLM and I'm now ready I feel. I know I was one of the youngest players to join the league. I've been training separately and with the team in order to get myself up to speed. I think I have finally made that mark. I think I'm prepared to make the jump and become a VHLM goalie and in turn become the best VHLM goalie this coming season.

Last year, when I was in the juniors, I had the strongest save percentage and was the best goalie prospect coming out of the province. This year, it's time to look at globally where I rank. Which really isn't that high, to be honest. Like sure, in the VHLM I'm one of the coveted goalies to have in the league but in terms of prospect ranking, I'm really not that high up there. I will be though. I'll be competing for a lot this coming season and for future seasons. I'm here to stay and I'm here to be the best goalie I can possibly be. I want to be challenging for trophies every single step of the way and I intend to be meticulous and determined to build a certain way to get that. I know I will move around a lot and not be loyal to a team once I get to the VHL. I want my career to be as positive as possible. Which to me could also mean living uncomfortably.

San Diego has been nothing but good to me. We got in last Friday, found a cute little apartment for me near by the training complex. 20 minute walk into training every morning I think will be nothing short but a great addition to my conditioning. Fans have been nothing but supportive as San Diego don't have too much teams to celebrate, specially in the hockey realm. I'm excited to bring some energy back to this team again this season. Specially since the Marlins just came off a championship and won it all. It's time for us to go for it again.

Is it possible to be the best VHLM goalie this season? Who knows really. I just feel like the sky is the limit in San Diego under @jacobcarson877 and the rest of his coaching staff. San Diego won last season and theres no mistake if thats the case. You can't just luck yourself into a finals and win. It's well thought out, development plans are followed to a team and players are hitting objectives or even exceeding objectives. San Diego is the best place for me to be right now. I've already had meetings with the player development team and have reviewed footage all the way from my juniors and showing me where I can improve. This is an exceptional place to play in. Lets do this San Diego!

    1. I'm excited. It's finally a chance to show my qualities and abilities. I never got a shot in Ottawa and thats no shot towards them. They're a great organization and I learned a lot in my time there. Now, it's my time to shine.

    2. A lot of puck luck, determination and hard work. We can definitely do this if we set our minds to it.

    3. Experience and honestly, playing a game. I'm sure I will.

    4. Arsenal FC are first in the table so, I'll take that.

    5. Probably footie.

    6. Oh eggs would be killer. I'm also writing this at 8:30 am right now.

Hoping to move up the list as the season moves along!

Had to take a bet on a few players being able to grow into top players, but we should have a nice top-6 forward group at least by the end of the season.

Tough draft for goaltending (again) and having moved on from the 1st overall pick in order to secure the cup run we had, it does mean I'll have to blackmail @fonziGG to update so we can keep up with the pack!

Overall looks like it's gonna be a great VHLM season though I'm quite excited to see how it all plays out!

I am officially back from my Mexican Vacation and can now get the ball rolling on the World Juniors. First, just a bit of business to take care of. @Enorama who has served as my Co-Commissioner for the past two seasons has stepped down. He has added more responsibilities in other areas of the league and I completely respect and support this decision. His replacement who will be helping me run this next tournament will be @samx. I am very excited to get the ball rolling with Sam as we look to put together another fun tournament for you all.

Now the fun stuff!!! We need General Managers for each of our teams. Those teams being: Canada, USA, Europe, World and Asia. All we need from you is to comment below if you’re interested and we will start interviewing people after Christmas.

PLEASE DO NOT BE AFRAID TO APPLY! No experience is necessary, in fact we encourage newer members who just want to give GMing a try to come and get that experience here.

Well, for the most part... I've missed the VHL. Most people know that the VHL was my first league and I came into this league around the same time as some members in here. I played for the Halifax 21st under @Thranduil(pls come back u bum) and feasted with my boys @CowboyinAmerica@Steve@Acydburn@Gaudette and a few others. We went out in the second round with what was a hell of a run with the team. Acyd was drafted to Seattle and I was drafted to Malmo. In my opinion, those were the top 2 teams in the league at that time and for a long time we were competitors. One thing I will mention is that, Seattle definitely prevailed and won multiple cups in that time, whereas we never won anything. Unfortunate really but that was a super fun rivalry to be a part of. I honestly feel like the VHL has lost a bit of that competitive edge since then. Can I pinpoint where it comes from? No, I personally can't and I don't really care to find out what it is. I'd love to see the league return to a highpoint of competitiveness. That would be exciting as hell to have again.

I feel like most sim leagues have lost that edge of competitiveness. We need team rivalries to come back for a vengeance. More trash talk in the discord and more trash talk in media spots. GM's talking trash everywhere. I think if we had that, we'd be keeping a lot more members around in general. However, we also need the league to keep in mind that this is all for fun, nothing is personal and this is a hobby. Do not go overboard. Theres tasteful competitive edge and theres distasteful competitive edge. Keep it tasteful everyone. We are a community after all.

What else is missing in the VHL? Well, I think a few more things. I will say, I have a feeling that theres too much action with the E. The implementation of the E I think had some drastic side effects that we may not have seen happening. Which includes the competitive nature of the VHL and VHLM. I think how competitive the VHLM was perceived is now no longer there and the incentive to earn like a mad person is kinda gone as well. Maybe we were hasty in introducing the idea of the VHLE or maybe it wasn't the right way to go. I say this, knowing that theres huge great benefits that I still agree is being given, I think the negatives however outweigh the positives. I'm also not suggesting that the VHLE get scrapped either. I'm sure theres a solution between the lines and the BOG will sort it out sooner rather than later.

VHL is life. VHL is home. I haven't been consistent here at all. I know that myself. I also know that I may have built up a bit of a reputation as that person that eventually goes IA. Maybe I am that guy, maybe I'm not. But to be honest, the VHL is where I end up whenever I'm hard core into sim leagues. It's my league and it's my home. This community has created so many great moments for me as a dude and I've made plenty of great friends over time. Stay classy VHL and never lose that charm. I'll always return from IA to you lot.

fonziGG got a reaction from Triller in Olivier Gauthier on expectations.
Olivier Gauthier is not a house hold name yet, however, he is someone to be on the look out for. He's been named one of the brightest young goalies to come out of Quebec and there is heavy pressure and expectations for him to exceed. However, if you speak to him, you'll see that he has no issues when it comes to pressure at all.

"I've been dealing with these expectations my whole life. I'm not scared to confront my future or my career. Will I succeed? Maybe. Will I be the least clutch goalie in VHL history? Maybe. Who knows? Thats the glory in this all. I obviously want to win and I'm going to win. It just may not be in a traditional sense."

Olivier spent most of his days playing junior hockey in Montreal before moving to Quebec City to join up with his new club. This club is what elevated his play to the next level and he is being touted as the best goalie coming out of Quebec. In fact, some VHLM scouts have been scouting him up since he was 15 years old, prior to joining his current club.

"I know theres been a lot of hype around me but it's all just noise. Theres lots of great talent around Quebec and in the world. Please, keep that in mind!"

I'm extremely excited to bring this guy up here finally as the public hasn't noticed much about him at all yet. He's going to be the best goalie prospect in his draft year in my opinion and thees already some great goalies around his age. I'm excited to see how it all shakes out as well.
