  1. Didn't we already change it? Something wrong with it? I'm not suing the default one so idk. I'm sorry, did you want to skin something that you've never used before while collaborating with other people AND working 6-8 hours every day while trying to do it? I'm working on it, this isn't the kind of thing that's going to just come together in a day. I don't have most of the images yet, haven't had really any time to work on it and am trying to learn new code to make it work. It'll get done as soon as I can.
  2. Just copy the ones I did for the team forums and change the link / image link.
  3. That's actually helpful to know, it means things are working correctly.
  4. Given the crash and everyone losing what they had I wouldn't expect to be able to get an edition in this week. Plus it's a free week anyway so why not just start fresh on edition 16 next week? If anything this attack gives us some stuff to talk about.
  5. Haha alright, was just offering the instructions. I work until midnight tonight and possibly again at 8am tomorrow so I doubt I'll have time to do it until the weekend. If I finish everything tonight I can take tomorrow off though so if that's the case I'll do them all tomorrow. If not I'm sure someone will get to it, it's a pretty easy process.
  6. I found the button I was looking for because I was curious. All the permissions are in fact set so chances are right now no one can see the locker rooms aside from people with the admin mask. To setup people who can see them, in case you're curious and have time Jericho, you need to go under members->members->manage members. From there either search for or go through each member, edit them, and set their secondary group as whatever team they belong to. That should cover the permissions. I would do them but it takes a bit and I should be working.
  7. As far as I know they can still be seen by everyone. I was going through and making all the permission things earlier but ran out of time before work to actually start putting people into the proper groups, I also noticed that it doesn't seem as if forums can be set to be viewed by only one group. From what I can tell they can be password protected and certain groups can be exempt from typing it in but that's not really the end goal we want. I'll try to look into it more later.
  8. In the interest of fairness the middle ground I offered above isn't overly different from if people just retired anyway, just offers a flat percentage instead of it being based on years player. For players that WANT to start fresh because of this I doubt anything is really stopping them from just retiring and re-creating anyway if we kept going without any regulation on it. I'm sure most GM's would completely understand.
  9. It could screw over some teams but what about a combination platter? Anyone who wants to try and get as close to their former player as possible is free to do so and we'll trust people to get as close as possible. However, if people want to start fresh they can re-create now with a flat percentage of their last recorded TPE plus a bit for the off-season that was never updated. Say like 15% across the board or something rather than having the percentage based on number of years played. That way people who want a fresh start because of this are free to get one (and likely with a bit of a bonus over regular retirement) but those who don't want to lose what they have also have that option.

I think those were the right ones but honestly don't remember.
  11. It's definitely easier but it also means people put in a lot of effort for effectively no gain which is obviously a little rough. I think a better thing to do would be to give everyone a percentage of their last updated TPE amount (can be figured out from sim files) and have everyone re-create with that. That way the amount people did means something. Still though, as much as its a pain to hope people get things right the majority, I don't believe, want to see their work go down the drain and the VHL effectively start over. At the same time history in the form of sim files are gone from any seasons we had on SMF anyway unless we can somehow get the backup to work. If there were a time to start fresh it would be now.
  12. For the record I agree with 2 as well, it's the least radical, I was just bringing up the other two to see if anyone had some positive discussions about a fresh or semi fresh start out of this mishap. Personally I do believe that we're best off just getting things as close as they were.
  13. I'm just going to put this in the thunderdome in case it gets messy, plus i don't feel like making the on topic forums and don't think it's really an announcement. I want to preface this with the fact that I'm not giving up on getting our data back, I don't think anyone is. However, hypothetically speaking, what course of action should we take assuming we can't get our topics / sim files back? The way I look at it we'd have a few major options if this were the case: 1) Keep the same teams / GM's and run a fantasy draft with everyone updated based on stats in the sim plus maybe like 25-30 to cover on average what was lost during the off-season. Everyone would, essentially, keep their same player but the whole league would be re-worked as a form of fresh start. 2) Slightly less radical approach, we keep everything the same, update players to what the sim had them at, and restart the off-season so that people have a chance to get back on track. Then we just go from there. Our records will essentially be gone but we could keep going without them. 3) Clean slate. It's radical but we would basically clean everything out (Keep the teams to avoid re-doing logos, maybe keep the GM's) and everyone re-creates a new player. Give carry-over based on what they last had in the sim (maybe just a set percentage rather than a per season thing) and effectively start the VHL from ground zero. Honestly, I don't like any of the options and this is hopefully going to remain hypothetical but what are peoples thoughts / opinions on what we should do if the worst case happens and we in fact lose everything from the new site?
  14. Unfortunately web hosting companies aren't the most reasonable people in cases like this. I even suggested we assure them we'll set the site to offline so anyone who does stumble by it (be they attacking or otherwise) would think it's pointless to try. Unfortunately they aren't going for it. The best we can hope for is that the backup file contains posts and we can get them onto a different board for transfer. I'm weary on if that will happen or not though.
  15. Yeah, i get the idea. Mostly concerned with getting the images there in the first place since I haven't had much time to dig into the coding for specific placement of new elements. I'm sure I can figure something out though.
  16. I've seen techniques for how to code this before, I'll see if I can find them again. I like the idea.
  17. It was never deleted, it was hidden. It's back now.
  18. Well that's more than usual considering 33% of 6GB is 2GB and it was usually stopping around 1.
  19. Over $600. I don't remember if he said that was monthly, or yearly or what but it's insane. Basically, it's not an option.
  20. I imagine we can. If it's not just a height element than it should automatically adjust to different heights. The SBA has a massively oversized banner and it seems to fit so I'm sure we can manage, would just be a matter of designing it.
  21. Have we figured out what that will get us yet? Will we be able to get files from the backup or have to upload them to an SMF site or what?
  22. Just to keep everyone updated. Kora and I have been PMing back and forth about the skin and we've bounced a few ideas around. He then created a mock up to give me something to work off of for the coding. Keep in mind this mockup still needs a bit of work done and I'm not as experienced with coding IPB so it might not come out exactly like that but it's the look we're going for.
  23. I'm honestly wondering what our options are if the host won't even let 1 person on for a temporary time period. What do they expect people to do in situations like this? I mean I know that they have to protect themselves, I get that, but all they've offered us is a backup that won't fully download for anyone and even if it did likely wouldn't get us anything but behind the scenes stuff. What exactly have they been telling you Sterling?
