  1. LA Stars Press Conference

    week ending 09/03/2023

    1. Well Napoleon Dynamite @thadthrasher delivered a lights out dance on the home opener . The fans wanna see more ! Rumor has it this is a pre game ritual for Dyanmite is there any truth to this ?

    2. We’re off to a hot start what’s been the biggest contributor to how well we’ve started this season off so far ?

    3. @InstantRockstar is looking at new sponsorship ideas for the home arena . What are some ideas you could possibly give ?

    4. Early on this season what has been the biggest surprise for you so far ?

    5. How has your player performed so far ?

    6. Who’s your early Super Bowl favourite this year ?

  2. The LA Stars are on one this season currently the top team in the league . Playing good hockey at both ends of the ice this season. This might come to a shock for some as at one point in the Off season it looked as if LA would be a fringe playoff team fighting for a wildcard spot.

What is a big reason for this early season success you might ask ? Well the play of their newest dynamic duo of course .

When Stars vet Todd Cooke and Newcomer Napoleon Dynamite @thadthrasherwere  both drafted in the S84 draft class I don’t think they ever envisioned playing together in the VHL . Until this season of course. These 2 Superstar forwards are clicking early on this season and it shows as they are among the top of multiple statistical categories this season . One impressive area where they sit 1 and 2 in the league respectively is plus minus . ( I know some people don’t put much stock into that statistic) but I think it’s very impressive how these 2 play a strong game at both ends of the ice .

I know it’s only 12 games in and there’s a lot of time left in the season but things are looking really good in LA as long as this duo stays productive and plays their game.

  3. After the first 12 games of the season I figured I’d do a check in on my VHFL team to see how they are performing so far this season. I’m currently sitting in third place in my group which honestly I’m more then ok with at this point in the season. I usually struggle with VHFL when it comes time to draft my teams as I am not very good at predicting how people will do from season to season . Last season was a success as I cashed in on Wallob, Kowalski, and Lavelle ultimately I think I still finished 2nd or 3rd in my group but I still made 3 absolutely stellar picks that carried my team. This season I’m hoping to have much of the same success when the season ends. Let’s take a quick look at my team.

Round 1 3rd overall John Jameson

With my first pick I took John Jameson who at third was a no brainer . Jameson was lights out last season and finished as a top fantasy player . He puts up points , hits and produces in just about every way you want a player to both for your VHL team and Fantasy team. It’s also a bonus that the guy currently has the highest TPA in the VHL with 1400 at the time of writing this media spot . When the season ends I fully expect Jameson to again finish at the top of the leaderboards in the VHL and VHFL.

Round 2 10th Overall Skor McFluery

With my second Pick I picked a defenceman I felt was going to pop off this season . Skor was a top defender last season and I feel like he could finish the season as the top defender in the league . He’s the total package currently leading my team in terms of fantasy points production with 53.8. Skor is everything you want in a Defenceman both in the VHL and VHFL . I believe he could finish like I said as the top Defenceman in the VHL and as a top player aswell. Skor was in my opinion a steal at 10th Overall .

3rd Round 15th Overall Pierre Emile Bouchard

In the 3rd Round I went with the always consistent Bouchard . I was shocked that he hadn’t been picked up yet by this point as we were very close to the halfway point of the draft. Bouchard has been good for me in past seasons and I’m hoping he will yet again pull through this season as well . Playing with Fantasy stud Brian Payne helps his case aswell . So far Bouchard is putting together another very good season in Vancouver which has become the norm for him in his VHL career so far !

4th Round 22nd Overall Clueless Wallob

At this point in time the goalies started going off the board and I went with the best goalie from last season. Wallob got traded in the off season to a very good Seattle time so I figured that was the perfect recipe for another lights out season for him. Although that has not quite been the case so far as the Bears have struggled out of the gate early , I can see Wallob again finishing the year among the top goalies in the VHL.

5th Round 27th Overall Todd Cooke

By the time i got to the 5th round I figured id go with my player . I figured if I didn’t get him in this round he’d be gone by the last round in the draft . You really couldn’t go wrong here selecting Cooke in my opinion. 3rd highest TPA in the VHL . Always a productive player and decent in Fantasy , one thing you could argue is he doesn’t quite hit enough to be that valuable in VHFL but hopefully that will turn around this season ! So far so good as Cooke had been having a terrific season in LA let’s hope he keeps it up !

6th Round 34th Overall Randy Bobandy

In the last round I couldn’t believe when I saw Bobandy still available, Like Wallob Bobandy has kinda struggled a bit outta the gate but I know he can turn it around based on the unreal season he had last year and how consistent Seattle always is . Bobandy I’m expecting big things from you this year don’t let me down !

Overall I’m extremely happy with my team and the players I picked . I believe in my team and the players I got hopefully they pull through for me and I can win my group this season !!

  4. Game number 6 recap

    Helsinki vs HC Davos

This game was a blowout from the puck drop to the closing bell at the end of the third period , Helsinki dominated the Dynamo in just about every category during the game. The real story though is the trio of Landon Wolanin, Chip Stone and Daryl Dixon . The combined for 13 points on the night . Wolanin was particularly impressive potting 5 goals and leading the Titans to an 8-2 Victory.

  5. With Season 90 getting underway I figured now is just a good of time as any to give you a sneak peak at the season 90 version of you LA Stars. This seasons squad looks quite different then past years , as there has been quite the influx of new players along with the regular faces you are used to seeing around Los Angeles.

Lets get started with the forward core suiting up for the stars this season.

    C - Todd Cooke

The last 2 seasons Cooke has done a good job establishing himself as a household name . This season however Cooke really would like to take another step forward and establish himself as a top 10-5 player in the VHL . He’s consistently gotten better every season in his VHL career so far the LA lifer will do everything in his power to accomplish this goal and bring a Cup to The Stars aswell.

    C - Napoleon Dynamite ( @thadthrasher )

The Dynamic forward is one of the many first year Stars playing in LA this season . The Stars struck gold when they acquired Dynamite in a trade with New York earlier this season . I fully anticipate Dynamite having a career year this season playing in LA alongside Cooke , Puk and Joyo .

    RW - Svatopluk Puk ( @Otaznik )

This Veteran Winger brings loads of experience and a very well rounded game to the Stars , Puk has put up good numbers and always been a contributor wherever he’s played throughout his career . On the tail end of his career you can bet he’s looking to help achieve the goal of playing for a Continental Cup this season.

    C - Sunglasse Joyo ( @JetsGoalie101 )

The always charismatic Joyo returns to LA for his fourth season for the Stars , each year we’ve seen steady improvements in Joyos game with sunglasses on of course ! I fully expect to see much the same this season and Joyo to have another career high season.

    LW - Gregger Mckeggegger ( @TheNeonShaman )

Mckeggegger returns for his sophomore season looking to improve and earn more i time and responsibility on the ice . I fully expect Gregger to be given ever opportunity to succeed and improve on and off the ice this season . Mckeggegger has all the tools and making of a future star in the league it’s just a matter of time !

    RW - Adam Rage ( @MrMom )

Rage was acquired in a late season trade with Moscow and will be relied upon to fill out LA’s Forward group . Much like Mckeggegger he will be given ample opportunities to prove himself throughout that season , and looks to be a big part of LA’s future moving forward.

Next we’ll move on to the Defenceman manning the blue line for the Stars this season.

    Callum Murray ( @Berocka)

Taking over as Captain of this years Stars team in his final farewell season Murray is the longest tenured skater on the team and is very deserving of the captain’s C always willing to do whatever is needed to try and get his team the W . Murray would like nothing more then to lead the Stars to a Continental Cup in his Final season before retirement.

    Elias Lampi ( @Pifferfish )

Lampi came over in a monster trade with Seattle early in the off season and after having a career year he will look to bring that momentum to LA and further breakout as a top defenceman for the Stars and carry the torch after Murray leaves at the conclusion of this season. Lampi will no doubt prove to be an important addition throughout the season.

    Jens Lekman ( @Bobcat )

Lekman is a young hard hitting puck moving defender that like Lampi will be a very very important player for the Stars going forward . Lekman is coming of a career best season last year and there’s no reason he can’t improve on those numbers this season.

And with that we’ll finish off with the Goalies.

    Art Vandelay ( @Gustav  )

Vandelay has been with the Srars for as long as Murray has and in that time he’s solidified himself as a top goalie in the league. The stars hit the jackpot taking him first overall way back in the season 84 draft. Vandelay will in my opinion be the most important player for the Stars this season !

    Matthew McCagg ( @Jack kidd )

McCagg is the lone rookie the Stars have this season . Coming in as backup McCagg is in one hell of a good spot learning from one of the best goalies the league has to offer . McCagg will take these next few years to grow and learn and eventually he might earn the started spot a few seasons down the road . One things forsure it will take a lot of work if that’s what he’s shooting for .

@InstantRockstar has done a very good job turning around a team that looked like theyd  be stuck in the mud meddling around no man’s land trying to fight for a wildcard spot into a true dark horse contender in the NA Conference.

  6. Todd Cooke has spent all summer long training and preparing for Season 90 in the VHL Cooke is hoping to have a BIG year for the Stars .

Cooke was recently named assistant captain for the stars for the second season in a row . “This is truly a huge honour for me to be selected by my peers and to be part of such a special leadership group” . Cooke also reinforced that the whole locker room as a whole is full to the brim of prosper who each possess leadership qualities in a ton of different ways .

The stars are going to look quite different this season and Cooke is hoping to gel with his new teammate and line mate Napoleon Dynamite right off the hop ! There’s so much talent to go around in the stars top 6 it’ll  be interesting to see who joins them on the presumptive first line for LA. All in all this season is shaping up to be a huge one for Cooke . And one where he hopes to establish himself as a top forward in the league once and for all !

  7. LA Stars press conference

    Week ending 08/27/2023

    1. Puck drop for Season 90 is tomorrow what’s more important a good start to the season or a good finish ?

    2. With Napoleon Dynamites @thadthrasher long time friend Pedro will be in attendance for the Stars home opener this season . The  Stars front office has convinced Dynamite to perform his special dance routine from Pedro’s election campaign in between the 2nd and 3rd period. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. My question for you is does he kill it or forget the routine all together?

    3. The Stars just held their annual captains vote , any surprises in the choices for captain and assistants this season ?

    4. The Stars are holding a contest for a new third jersey , what would your ideal third jersey look like ?

    5. Who do you got winning the Stanley cup this season ?

    6. who has a better rookie season Connor Bedard or Adam Fantilli ?

Remember folks don’t miss Dynamites performance in between the 2nd and 3rd period of this years home opener !

  8. LA Stars press conference

    week ending 20/08/2023

    1. With our new additions where do you see us finish at the end of the season ?

    2. Who are you most excited to see play this season ?

    3. Is there any area in our lineup we could still bolster ?

    4. What areas have you improved you players game this off season ?

    5. Early on who do you have as Continental cup favourites ?

    6. who do you think is and “underdog” team that could surprise people this season ?

  9. With training camp underway Todd Cooke has surpassed the 1300 TPE milestone. Never in a million years when I first joined the VHL did I ever think 1300 TPE was an achievable milestone . Now I know if I didn’t get lazy and claim welfare or not do that article or presser or whatever extra I would be probably closer to 1400 plus TPE . Cooke is primed and poised to become a top VHL player this season hopefully . I always wanted to make a good player but I never thought I’d make on this good . What’s next ? Well I’d love to hit 1500 total but I’d also really love to try and get Cooke’s name in the top 25 all time TPE list . I know it’s probably a long shot with how many great max earners we have in the league already , but I’d love to try to be there even if it’s only for a short time .

  10. On this weeks edition of Ramblings I’ve got loads to talk about . I couldn’t just pick one thing. Without further a do here we go .

    Stars pull off Major trade

The LA Stars began the off season kinda just stuck in the mud trying to stay afloat . The only move they made was bringing Defensive standout Elias Lampi to LA to bolster the blue line. That was until earlier today when @InstantRockstarstruck gold and pulled off a trade to bring Napoleon Dynamite and Svatopluk Puk in to also strengthen their forward group . This move helps the Stars out big time as they now have 4 impact productive forwards at their disposal aswell as a very promising sophomore  Greg Mckeggegger. The Stars are looking as competitive as ever now and will look to compete for a Cup this season . How will these moves work out ? Will they win a cup ? How will the new additions mesh together? We will find out this upcoming season . In what LA hopes to be a very productive successful season .

Toms set to make VHLE Debut !

Young Gun Kyle Tom’s is set to make his VHLE debut after 2 seasons with the Bulls in the M . The second season there he lead the teams as capitain of the Bulls . Toms is a very promising prospect due to play for Prague in the next 1 or 2 seasons . It will be very interesting to see how he transfers his game to the E and to see if he will have the same success he did in the M . If there’s one good thing that should make the transition easy for him he joins the perennial powerhouse in Oslo . Knowing that Oslo is always a competitive team makes me very excited to watch Tom’s this season .

Another record due to be broken ?
Last season Nico Pearce broke the all time TPE record previously held by Xavier Booberry with 2104 . Pearce didn’t just break the record his smashed it , much like Booberry did when he himself broke the record . Pearce set a new mark of 2206 TPE . Currently there are a few players within striking distance of the record . Most notably Ronan Lavelle enters his last season in the VHL with 1935 . I don’t quite think he has enough time to break the record nor do I think the board game clue on skates does either as he sits at 1900 . But here’s where it gets interesting Leandro Goncalves and Landon Wolanin are both realistically pretty close and if they earn every possible way they can I could see either one sitting the new mark. Wolanin sits at 1850 and Goncalves sits not far behind with 1814 . They each have 2 seasons to possibly accomplish this feat and if there’s 2 people how I could see doing this it’s them. Hammer Voss also has an outside chance currently sitting at 1758 with 2 seasons left to play .

There you have it folks Season 90 is shaping up to be an exciting one to say the least . I for one can’t wait to get everything going . Until next time !

  11. Well the off season is in full swing and there’s a ton on the go so far , with lots of interesting storylines and narratives I think this is the perfect opportunity for me to write another edition of ramblings , this one being an off season edition .

    Cooke close to 1300 TPA
Todd Cooke is currently at 1285 TPA and climbing . Heading into his 5th VHL season Cooke is once again coming off a season of Career highs where he set a new highs for points and assists with 56 and 91 points respectively. Cooke also tied a career high in goals with 35 . Cooke is in an interesting position this season he is currently set to lead a transitioning LA team this season offensively, Not really accustomed to this position it will be interesting to see how he adapts and applies himself to succeed in this role for the Stars!

    LA Hires KRZY an AGM

In other news around the VHL KRZY will be joining the Stars front office as the AGM . The Stars haven’t had an AGM since @FrostBeard stepped down and took a GM position in DC. So it goes without saying that I will have some humongous shoes to fill as the Stars AGM . I’m hoping I can draw on my time from Oslo and my experiences there to help me be the absolute best AGM in can be . Thank you @InstantRockstar for the opportunity I won’t let you down !

    Wild Off Season so far

The landscape has changed drastically this off season with 27 trades being made already at the time of writing this . A lot of notable names have been moved this season with some teams looking like they will be retooling and or rebuilding and others gearing up for a contending season where they will look to capture a championship this season . Seattle has easily been the busiest team making 9 trades thus far !

    VHLE down to 6 teams

As we all know the VHLE has downsized to 6 teams from 8 teams . I for one will be paying special attention to see this change and how and if it works for the league. There are 6 very qualified GMS that will no doubt each do a great job building competitive teams each capable of winning a Renaissance cup . I think this change will go a long way in making the VHLE the most competitive it’s been in quite awhile . Hold on folks this is gonna be exciting !

S90 and S91 Drafts could be the best ever .

with the S90 and 91 drafts coming up soon they could shape up to be the absolute best draft classes we’ve seen in awhile especially the S91 class . If they shape up like the S80 and 81 classes one thing is forsure I believe we’ll have some all time great players come out of both classes . The future of the league is bright ! We just have to wait and see if they can live up to the hype .

There you have it there’s another edition of RAMBLINGS

  12. Veteran Centre Todd Cooke is playing in another off season ProAm Tournament this time with the Maui Stingrays . Cooke is looking to have a big tournament for Maui in hopes to leading them to a first place finish.

Cooke is hoping this tournament will serve as a tune up to a make or break season for him and the LA Stars .

So far the ProAm is shaping up to be one of the more competitive  tournaments in recent memory with the Stingrays in a very good position to compete for a first place finish .

With just over half the draft left to go it will be interesting to see how Maui rounds out their team and who Cooke will play with to try and bring a championship to the Stingrays !

On another quick note the Stingrays are looking to try and recreate some world championship magic as they have reunited Molly the cat with Cooke . @Lemorse7 has Tunnel Vision and all he sees is Gold ! Will he reach his goal ? Stay tuned
