  1. Game 330 recap

    davos vs Seattle

This game was an all out goalie battle for 2 and 3/4 periods with Lachlan summers and Xavier Booberry both not giving up an inch . Chip stone finally would solve summers at 16:05 of the 3rd period putting Seattle ahead 1-0 . Hulk Hogan 2 would add an empty netter with a minute to play and that would all but seal the deal for the Bears . Final score 2-0 Seattle .

  2. Well it’s theme week and I’ve been racking my brain all week and I’m taking it back to The S79 draft class . When I originally joined the VHL I signed up late in s77 and was entered in the S79 draft class. But I would only stick around for a few weeks ultimately earning a measly 50 TPA . Let’s take a trip down memory lane and take a look at some of the Standouts from that draft class and what the achieved in their Careers.

    Forwards

    AJ Williams @AJW

The 5th overall pick in the VHL draft this season AJ had a productive career in the VHL , AJ was a scoring winger who played for both the LA Stars and Seattle Bears. His career was ultimately cut short when he made the somewhat controversial decision to retire early . The highlight of his career was winning the S83 continental cup with Seattle .

    Jonathan Ori @ROOKIE745

Ori was a very solid player during his career in the VHL drafted 8th overall . He played for Helsinki , Seattle and DC . While he never won a championship or individual awards he was a valuable player on whatever team he played on. Ori’s Value can also been seen as he ranks 8th overall on the all time TPE leaderboards as well .

    Taylor Mourning @scoop

the prototypical power forward mourning was a hard working winger . Mourning’s impact on his teams was felt in many ways whether it was on the scoresheet or when he was winning battles . A member of the S79 championship Malmo team . He would also win the Dustin Funk Trophy in S81 as the most improved player in the VHL . Mourning would prove to always be a player his team could count on whatever the situation.

    Baby Bob @Baby Boomer

Baby Bob had a very very productive VHL career finishing every season producing at a point per game clip . Bob Capped his VHL career off in S86 with his most productive season of his career with 117 points and 54 goals . Good enough to capture him the kevin brooks trophy that season. You always knew what you were getting with Bob and could always count on him to produce for whatever team he played for.

    Defence

    Jerome Reinhart @MexicanCow123
Reinhart was drafted 3rd overall and boy he didn’t disappoint one bit having a hall of fame career . His trophy case is packed full ! With the awards he’s won too long to list ! Reinhart made an impact from his very first season to his last . He continues to be an example of what a great offensive defenceman should be and in my opinion has set the bar in that category aswell .

    Poopy Peepants @JardyB10

Yes I know Peepants was “cursed” during his career as jardy would say . But you can’t tak away from the solid career he would have . Providing stability and solid defence for whatever team he played for during his time in the VHL .

    Erlantz Jokinen @jRuutu

Jokinen was a solid top defender throughout his career . The well travelled defenceman produced right up until his retirement. He would however only have one Founders cup to his name in S78 with the Yukon Rush . Regardless he proved to be a good valuable player wherever he played.

    Goalies

    Papa Emeritus @Beketov

Drafted 1st overall Papa was one of the best to ever do it , spending his whole career in Moscow . Papa was one of the best if not the best Goalie hands done in the VHL throughout his career he gave Moscow a chance to win every single night. He would win 2 Victory cups with Moscow as well as both the Aidan Shaw and Greg Clegane trophies in S84. Although he never got his name on a Continental cup his contributions will be felt for a long time . It’s hard not to picture him not ending up in the Hall of Fame one day.

there you have it folks there’s a look back at some of the standouts in what in my opinion is one of the strongest draft classes in recent memory. I’m please let me know if you agree or disagree with my picks and or if I missed anyone !

    CHEERS FOLKS !

  3. Oslo Storm Press Conference

    Week ending 04/30/2023

    1. Oslo is slowly gaining ground in the standings , 8 points out of first place , how can we break through and take over ?

    2. Our offence is on a role lately ranked second in the VHLE with 102 goals for , or defence is not trending quite in the same direction whats the biggest key to change that ?

    3. Greg Mckeggegger and Keno Akara @TheNeonShaman and @Keno have formed a nice little duo lately forming nice chemistry together, how do they compliment eachother so good ?

    4. @JB123 is looking for a New Jersey template this coming season what’s your ideal design ?

    5. It’s very close in the VHLE this season it really could be anyones year , what do you think ?

    6. who do you think is drafting Connor Bedard 1st overall ?

  4. LA Stars Centre Todd Cooke has had an unreal start to Season 88 with the Stars. Cooke’s game has evolved and improved exponentially this season , already surpassing his career high in goals with 21 in 34 games , along with 25 assists. Good enough to put him tied for 3rd in points 4th in goals and just outside the top ten in assists.

Cooke has taken a massive step forward this year trying to accomplish the goals he set out for himself this off season . Along with his improvement Cooke has been a clutch player for the Stars as he is currently tied for the league lead in game winning goals also ! This season is proving to be the coming out party that cooke was hoping for ! On a personal note this week he will also break into the 1000 TPE club , something that he never really thought was achievable when he first started his VHL career.

1000 down much more to go !

  5. Well it’s that time in the season again where I look at whatever team Todd Cooke is on and compare every player and the GM to their NHL Counterparts. This season like the past 2 I’ll compare the LA Stars to theirs .

let’s get started with LA’s forwards

    Nezuko LW ( @Baozi ) Johnny Gaudreau

While Gaudreau had a down year by his standards in his first year with Columbus I do see a lot of similarities between these 2 players in size , production and the way they both play and think the game . Nezuko is a offensive player that produces and makes something from nothing . Similarly to Johnny hockey this season is a fresh start aswell for nezuko coming to LA in one of their huge off season moves . It has truly been exciting to see how he’s fit into the fold with the Stars so far this season.

    Sirdsvaldis  Miglaskems C ( @FrostBeard ) Leon Draisatl

The team captain returns to LA this Seson after winning both the Scotty Campbell Trophy and the Kevin Brooks. Sirdsvaldis has done everything and more for the Stars in his 4 seasons in LA . He’s looking to guide them to a Continental Cup aswell . The Big Centre has been the motor and heartbeat of the Stars for as long as he’s been here and will continue to be that the rest of this season.

    Todd Cooke C Tage Thompson

Cooke has flown under the radar and gone relatively unnoticed early in his VHL career like Thompson in the early days of his NHL career . Cooke is looking to BREAK out this season as a premier Centre in the VHL . Always in the play and a guy that never ever gives up Cooke is someone you would rather play with then against. This kids just getting started there’s tons more to come !

    Sunglasses Joyo C ( @JetsGoalie101 ) Tomas Hertl

Joyo loves to have fun , heck the guy wears Sunglasses on the ice while he’s playing hockey , his game reminds me of Hertls who is another guy that loves to have fun on the ice and in the locker room . Joyo is young and has a ton of potential I’m excited for him to find and reach that potential!

    Jack Hextall C ( @Jack Feriancek ) Adam Henrique

Jack is another veteran Forward LA acquired this off-season, he’s an energy guy that can play up and down in your line up just like Henrique can . Hextall can thrive in most positions and Carry’s himself with high professionalism and character and plays the game the right way.

Robert Wilk RW ( @Tomat0 ) Anthony Mantha

Wilk is the last new addition to the Stars Forward group . He’s a big gritty winger that can contribute on the scoresheet aswell as go to the dirty areas on the ice to make plays for his team . Wilk has been a very welcomed addition to LA and adds to their impressive depth !

Next we’ll take a look at the Stars outstanding defence core .

    Callum Murray ( @Berocka ) Victor Hedman

I believe I compared Murray to Hedman last season as well but honestly it hard not to , they’re both huge shutdown defenders that contribute in so many ways to their teams . Murray was arguably the Stars unsung hero last season , he was also nominated for many top defenceman awards specifically top defensive defenceman and top overall defenceman. I think that speaks for itself when talking about special players and things they can achieve . I truthfully believe that Murray will win multiple top defenceman awards throughout his career .

Scoish Velociraptor Maliosh ( @youloser1337 ) Quinn Hughes

Maliosh has been a machine for the Stars this season , he’s given his all every single night trying to establish himself as a top defenceman in the VHL . If he keeps up the great work this season I truly think he’ll be in that conversation by the end of the season . Also on another note he recently blocked his 1000th career shot proving and reinforcing how valuable he truly is to his team.

    Dabnad Shaw ( @Dabnad ) Mattias Ekholm

Shaw was LA’s HUGE ad on the back end this off season and like Ekholm has for the oilers since the trade deadline , Shaw has provided good solid defence and been a revalation on the back end for a team that lacked defensive help last season . Shaw has been everything you could ask for from a shutdown defender in this league . Allowing Murray and Maliosh d to contribute offensively and in the transition game aswell .

Last but not least the Goaltender

    Art Vandelay ( @Gustav  ) Igor Shesterkin

the other MVP candidate nominated from the stars last season . Art is quickly establishing himself as an elite tendy in the VHL . Nominated for many rewards last season . I truly believe Vandelay is the Stars X factor and a huge reason they will eventually win a continental cup in the coming seasons if not this season !

    GM

    @InstantRockstar Zack Gagnon

    Ken Holland

Gagnon rebuilt this team and has turned them into a contender whether it’s making huge trades for impact additions , or signing big names to play in LA . One of his most impressive points to his resume is the way he develops prospects and constantly drafts active members and good players consistently. Letting the develop until they are ready for the VHL

There you have it folks let me know what you thought of these comparisons!

  6. Todd Cooke’s third season in the VHL is underway and it’s been quite the coming out party . First off he’s playing big minutes for the powerhouse LA Stars , forming a nice duo with newly acquired winger Nezuko @Baozi . This new found chemistry has contributed to Cooke’s early success this season .

Cooke is also finally playing his natural Centre position full time for the Stars this could also be a factor in his recent success and jump in production . Currently he’s sitting at 21 points in 20 games with 9 goals and 12 assists. He’s on the right track in achieving his off season goals he set for himself this year and you’ve gotta think that as the season continues and progresses cooke will do everything he can to achieve those goals .

This is the year that cooke can finally be considered and talked about as a big time player in the VHL . Keep listening as he cements himself as a household name in this league going forward.

  7. Oslo Storm Press Conference

    week ending 04/23/2023

    1. Oslo is playing .500 hockey struggling to establish consistency, how do we correct that ?

    2. What’s been one area of strength so far this season ?

    3. What’s been one struggle spot this season

    4. we have a scoring by committee approach so far this season . How do you think this approach has impacted our season ?

    5. Who do you got winning the Stanley cup this year ?

    6. Who wins the Calder for rookie of the year in the NHL ?

  8. 1 hour ago, Thunder said:

    1. Oslo is off to a rough start so far what’s been our biggest shortcoming this far ?

I’d have to say its Rip Wheeler and his excessive alcohol intake.  He’s just not taking the game serious enough.

    2. After the first couple games who has been the biggest surprise for you to see out on the ice ( maybe someone you’ve played with before. , or someone you haven’t until now )?

Once again, I’d say Rip Wheeler.  He’s definitely sucking up to GM @JB123 to get the playing time.  More than he deserves.

    3. What’s it gonna take to turn it around ?

Patience.  JB is one of the best GM’s and will get this team to the top.

    4. @JB123 recently named our leadership group this year , what do you think of the choices for captain and assistant captains ?

Its a team decision and they obviously earned their roles.

    5. Oslo recently retired 2 numbers at the home opener this year they were Quinn Clark’s and Brodie Landry lll , what can you say about the contributions of these 2 stellar d men ?

    They are legends.

    6. Who’s the early favourite this season the the VHL in your opinion ?

That’s easy.  HC Davos.  By the way, thanks for letting me jump into this press conference and pick up my 2 tpe!!  Go Oslo!!

    Anytime @Thunder 🤙🤙

  9. Game #58 review

this game saw Warsaw take on Helsinki in a close contest . In the first period Warsaw capitalized twice , aswell as outshot Helsinki 23-10 . Helsinki. Answered in the second period to get within one goal and make the score 2-1 , shots were a lot closer with Warsaw still having the slight edge 11-9 , in the third both teams found the back of the net one more time each and despite the titans best efforts they couldn’t score a third one to try to force OT . Warsaw wins 3-2 final score

  10. This week I don’t really have 1 specific idea so I’m bringing back KRZYS Ramblings , let’s get it going

    Cooke Stumbles early

for as high hopes of him being a high impact player Todd Cooke has kinda stumbled early on this season . Although he is leading LA in points he hasn’t played up too the expectations and standard he set for himself heading into season 88 . This might attribute to LA playing a rather inconsistent game so far this season where they have played very mediocre hockey this season for a team that was projected to finish among the top teams in the NA Conference. 1 positive tho is it’s still very early in the season and there is tons of time to go on a run !

    VHL Super Coach takes off

the new Fantasy hockey game has taken off and so far seems to be a hit with the community. I’m a really big fan go the $42 cap hot has made it very very challenging to create a lineup that will consistently be competitive all season . It brings another creative element to the table when your trying to make your team . I think Super Coach will quickly become the most popular fantasy zone thing in the VHL rather quickly .

    Changing of the gaurd

This is the first season we are really seeing it , there seems to be a changing of the guard of sorts with many younger players starting to find themselves atop various statistical leaderboards so far this season , as the older veterans near retirement the young bucks are proving their worth and showing what they’re made of . This is a trend that will continue as the natural progression continues to take place as players get farther and farther into their careers. these changes will begin to impact the VHFL down the road as these players will become players that will be commonly picked in the next few seasons .

Toms gets his first point !

Houston Bulls rookie winger Kyle Tom’s earned his first VHLM point tonight with an assist against Halifax , this is a sign of things to come as Tom’s acclimatizes himself the the league. I’ve said it once I’ll say it again I truly believe he could be the steal of the S89 draft !

    Cologne has slight championship hangover

Last seasons Renaissance cup champs the Cologne Express have experienced the championship hangover that affect most teams after winning a league title . Cologne is currently 4-2-2 on the season , if there’s any team that can turn everything around and progress as a unit , as much as this pains me say it Cologne can be that team as they’ve shown in recent seasons. The express look to return to the top of the VHLE as the season Continues on.

Record breaking season for many players

Vinny Detroit and Xavier Booberry are 2 players that have recently broke league records or are poised to break league records this season , with Booberry breaking the all time TPE record and Detroit set to break the all time hits record at some point this season . Will more players continue to break league records ? Or are these 2 players the only ones that will break any records for the next little while ? Only time will tell.

there you have it folks here’s this weeks edition of rambling’s, hope you enjoyed it.

  11. Oslo Storm Press Conference

    04/16/2023

    1. Oslo is off to a rough start so far what’s been our biggest shortcoming this far ?

    2. After the first couple games who has been the biggest surprise for you to see out on the ice ( maybe someone you’ve played with before. , or someone you haven’t until now )?

    3. What’s it gonna take to turn it around ?

    4. @JB123 recently named our leadership group this year , what do you think of the choices for captain and assistant captains ?

    5. Oslo recently retired 2 numbers at the home opener this year they were Quinn Clark’s and Brodie Landry lll , what can you say about the contributions of these 2 stellar d men ?

    6. Who’s the early favourite this season the the VHL in your opinion ?

  12. New rookie sensation Kyle Tom’s @Ktoms22 has landed in Houston to play with the bulls this season while he gets ready for the draft in the coming off season .

While Toms is new as a first gen he’s not entirely new to hockey . Coming from the same home town as LA centre Todd Cooke who interestingly enough brought him into the VHL Tom’s is excited to get going and start his career .

Once Tom’s gets earning TPE figured out and learns the in and outs of the league I truly feel he will be a great asset to have on any team wherever he plays . Tom’s wants to learn and is interested in finding the right build for his player and the right stats to make his player tick .

Kyle has great mentors around him in Houston starting with @AJW and @Triller along with multiple veteran players and so on . If he stays engaged and figures it all out I could see Tom’s becoming a productive player in seasons to come .  Keep an eye out on this exciting first gen player in the upcoming draft for S89 he could potentially turn into the steal of the draft !
