Purple and blue tonight

Well it has been a while since i've been active on the VHL to say the least. But I can say with confidence that it was some of the best and most relaxing times being on here. If you don't know who I am, I joined back in 2007 and was active for many years, started in season 4 and ended in season 21. I decided to quit because my time was limited, with school, and my YouTube channel taking off and money rising from it, I had to basically pick one. So I picked YouTube and turned it into my only source of income. Looking back, that was probably the smartest decision I have ever made. Currently I am 19 years old, in 2nd year of Business Administration at Simon Fraser University, and been going out with the same girl for just about 2 years, so I can say life is good. I talk to Sandro on a daily basis and he said something about a DDOS attack, which is huge bullshit and got me angry that someone would attempt to take this league down. I'm glad you guys are still going strong after all of these years. With all the hard work that has been put into this, I hope this can somehow go on for eternity. Checking back every once in a while brings back a flood of memories, like being in skype calls for the draft, making last minute trades, checking on the forum during school, or staying up late and saying screw homework to submit that last minute point task.
 
Currently i'm just browsing the forums, I am not sure if I want to re-create or not because school can get pretty hectic at times. Although, with the new welfare and pension, I am really debating it. I haven't made a signature in about four years, and I would definitely need a huge amount of stock packs to start. But I can say for certain that i will be checking in quite often. You guys are like brothers to me, and I hope all of you are doing good. 
 
Also, at times i'm having trouble figuring out who is who. I am browsing the site and seeing some people that I recognize, but others I have no clue. If you were around from Season 1 to Season 20, drop your old usernames and old players names, I would love to know who is who.

Zadorov and the Express
 

 
 After winning the Continental Cup in Season 39 with the New York Americans Andrey Zadorov had quite the off-season. Last season the defender had 4 goals and 54 assists for 58 points in 72 games. The New York Americans were a dominant team finishing on top of the VHL. During the summer Zadorov learned he was going to be moved which caught the Russian a bit off guard but it wasn't necessarily a shock due to the Americans salary cap at the time. Players were going to be moved. Andrey Zadorov was then traded to the Cologne Express along with Wesley Kellinger for draft picks and Steve Tremblay. Zadorov was going to the Express to play a lot of minutes and play on the top pairing.

He hasn't just given us more depth but has developed into a legitimate first pairing defenseman in his short time here. He also is just entering his prime so I'm really excited to see what he'll be able to do these next couple of seasons and how far he can take his career. Thus far this season he’s had a career year scoring 10 goals and 55 assists for 65 points in 63 games. He’s been playing a lot of minutes which has led to his minus 7 rating. Zadorov has been getting better with every game played and has seen a big change in his game. He’s currently ranked tenth in assists and fifth in overall defenseman scoring. He likes to say his success is due to being able to observe and play with arguably the league’s best defenseman in Conner Low in New York.

Not only is Zadorov doing well this season but the Express are also doing well. The Express are 9-1 in their last ten games and are now in first place in the European Conference with 86 points. They've clinched a playoff spot and are hoping to take the European Conference crown. The Express have scored 211 goals which is the most in the VHL. Forwards Kellinger and O’Malley are leading the way with 103 and 90 points respectably. The team is fairly young and if they continue their streak there's a very good chance they'll be the top team in European Conference  They've been improving as the season has gone on and will only get better.

Zadorov has been racking up the assists late in the season and will look to stay over a point per game to finish the season. Which will hopefully help the Cologne Express advanced far into the playoffs. 

So, people appreciated my last media spot to my great surprise, and when I said I would do another mark my words, I always come up on my word. So with not a lot of forethought and a healthy dose of stale milk, here's the sequel.
 

Calgary Wranglers
So before I review the emo horse, (look at that eye liner) let me note: This'll probaby suck. Sequels are always terrible, and I mean, look at the premise here. Awful. So here's the Calgary Wranglers. No one needs to wrangle this horse because by his expression there is clearly a case of diarrhea. Come on. You can just see the excretion there. And his eye... Gosh, the guy clearly ate too many peppers with those red eyes. What's with the dark outline? He's clearly got eyeliner.
 
Grade: Get a bathroom, you horse.
 

New York Americans
Americas, eh? Not only did they have to go there with that patriotic title they had to put in the Captain America-esque shield. C'mon. It's so boring it just screams... Ugh. How can a team get excited wearing this logo to a game? Nobody. (just watch me get drafted by this team and take back everything I said in a style only rivalled by pros who really screw up on Twitter. "I was hacked.")
 
Grade: So boring, that I couldn't come up with a good grade. Booo.
 

Quebec City Meute
From the Americans to the Quebecers. Or should I say, the mute. Because really. This wolf is howling, and clearly that's not mute. That's making noise. COME ON. And what's he doing coming out of a shield? Is he like, "this shield is so lame, I'm going to complain to the mods about it"? Who knows?
 
Grade: Come on. This logo isn't making this review any easier.
 

Seattle Bears
So this bear looks really pissed. And, to top off the theme, ANOTHER SHIELD. It's a freaking trifecta. Or is it an oval? Either way, I've never seen a bear the colour of which that bear resembles. Is it some mutant bear that is really mad about being inside a lame shield/oval thing? That's probably the case. Maybe he wants to be separate from the crowd. Too bad, bear. Yer off the case.
 
Grade: Who did this monstrosity kill to get a red fur coat? Scary.
 

Toronto Legion
So, let me cast off my anti-Toronto biases and handle this like a real pro. When could the logo of a legion look any less menacing? All this looks like is the logo of Aqua-Lovers Club of Blue Huggable Fun Times. Maybe the point here is to disrupt locker room pep talks for the opposing teams. I could just imagine the video coach coming in the midst of an inspirational speech from a head coach in front of his team, and as he looks back to point to the opposition's weaknesses he bursts into a giggling fit about how lame the logo looks and by the time the game starts the coach is pronounced dead, a turn of events fit only for the best of lethal weapons.
 
Grade: Cleverly terrible. Maybe the Aqua-Lovers Club of Blue Huggable Fun Times should make a hockey club.
 
So there you have it. The VHL and their logos, graded and summarized by an idiot. You can have the VHLM version of this media spot next week, so until then I bid you all a happy Monday.
 
Note: I know Meute means something entirely different, just like the Express' wheels wouldn't appear in the logo. But that doesn't make for good cheap jokes. Wait, did I just say good cheap jokes? When is a cheap joke ever good?

It's nice for me to get a kick-start so that I can make an early impact. I'm definitely not complaining.

BTW, I have no issue whatsoever with the BOG's increased influence. I may have posted it in the conversation at the time or I may have spoken to individuals, maybe even one of the three regulars here, but that was fully my intention. I know I can't come up with ideas as well as David or Sterling and we have just have come up to a point where we don't need changes quickly, we can afford discussion and I can focus on day to day running, which is exactly why I wanted the position in the first place.

Very satisfying sim.  5-3 win over Quebec and we are now 5-0 against them this year.

After much contemplation the time has come to say goodbye to my 2nd player, Mr Odin Tordahl.
 
He achieved more then I could have hoped after my average effort with Boomchenko, so for that I am grateful.
 
Thanks to all the teammates and GM's Odin spent time with, you guys (and girls) are the reason the VHL is such a success. Special thanks to the quality guys I have shared a LR with and to those(Higgins,Victor and Chris) GM's that gave Odin an opportunity to be in a position to win Continental and personal trophies...I truly thank you for making him into the player he became.

Mag Edition 215 - The Time Has Come
 
It is that time of the year again, when we say goodbye to some of the legends in our league and welcome in new blood that will fill our league for years to come.  These guys may be future candidates for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy, so I think it's appropriate that I take a brief look at some of the players who declared for the Season 42 Entry Draft today.
 
G - Jax Barnstormer (63 TPE): I suppose he is already the favourite to be the top prospect in the draft given his tremendous pedigree.  His agent has already managed one of the best to ever play the game and also another very good players who finds himself in the top twenty all-time for assists.  The Canadian goaltender is the next installment and definitely has tremendous potential to be a great starting netminder in the Victory Hockey League.  A balanced goalie with good size, Barnstormer projects very much like Americans goalie, Brick Wahl, who started out a bit slow but has reached the point of being one of the league's best goalies.
 
C - A.C. Savage (53 TPE): Another player with some great pedigree, A.C. Savage has a very good case of being ranked as the top prospect in this draft.  If the team who ends up with first overall does not need a goalie, then Savage would be the early favourite to take that spot.  Projecting as a quick player with a great shot, Savage could easily be the type of player who dominates in the minors and improves his draft stock through his tremendous play.  Regardless of whether or not he goes first overall, this "Savage" looks like a bright prospect that will be a hot commodity when he enters the draft room.
 
W - Wolfgang Strauss (24 TPE): Perhaps a darkhorse top guy in this draft, Wolfgang Strauss' agent previously worked with Sami Kravinen, who was a very solid VHL defender that took more of a depth role during his time in the league.  With that being said, his work with Kravinen leaves hope that Strauss could be a bigger piece that really benefits from his time with his agent.  Wolfgang is definitely a raw prospect but like Savage also has a great shot and speed.  It might be a slightly longer growth period, but the potential is there for Wolfgang to live up to the Strauss surname.  
 
W - Marcio Greusinho (0 TPE): This could be the biggest darkhorse in the entire draft.  Many may not have strong knowledge of the name McZehrl, but the agent has quite a history in the Simulation Hockey League.  If he decides to make a big splash here with Greusinho, it could mean big things for this draft.  With the potential to be an easy top three pick, Marcio has a chance to show what he has got.  Does he have a lot of things he needs to improve on? Absolutely.  With that being said, if I had to pick one guy who isn't a surefire top guy that I thought was a great darkhorse, this would be the guy.
