I think this is the best game I've ever seen any of my players have, outside of Brookside shutouts.

They have underperformed in recent World Cups, but they got to the final in the Euros with a pretty similar team as what they're bringing.

For me, order of how likely I think they are: Germany France Brazil Spain Belgium (talent of the top teams, if they can stop bottling it) Portugal (probably not, but they managed it at Euros, so we'll see) Against those six, I wouldn't even bet "the field" unless you were offering me 25-1 or better.

Hot take: it wouldn't be unreasonable for Argentina to not advance from the group, of the supposed "big" teams. There's usually one and we never see it coming, but Argentina struggled hard in qualifying, and there are no easy teams in their group (setting aside Messi, the rest of their roster is actually not even better than Croatia on paper - plus we know what Iceland can do, and Nigeria are decent as well).

Didn't realize it had been that long since he posted. He's on Ottawa so I'm more aware of him in general than the average league member but I guess I'm inclined to assume my own guys are around more than they are

5, Asipi. He's definitely more senior than Sterling, still active, and should make the VHL level for at least a portion of his career. His earning pace is well behind the others (and so he won't be in the discussion for best in the league at any point) but he is technically more senior. I could see Asipi making a career out of rotating around among all the kind of mid tier teams (ones who aren't competitive enough to need a heavy earner like the four above, but not actively tanking).

Hurley was snubbed out of a few Top Leader awards. There were times he had enough votes to move to the final round of voting (back when Top Leader was decided by rounds of voting, briefly) and they didn't put him in the final round anyway, because he wasn't as big a contributor to the rest of the site. He was constantly in game threads though, hyping up Calgary whether we performed well or poorly. @Cuffy come back to us

One thing I like to do is pick every series in either 5 or 6 regardless of how long I expect it to go - if you pick 4 or 7, there's only 8 possible points. If you pick 5 or 6, there's 11, you have more leeway. Pick 7: Series goes 4 - 0 Series goes 5 - 0 Series goes 6 - 3 Series goes 7 - 5 Pick 6: Series goes 4 - 0 Series goes 5 - 3 Series goes 6 - 5 Series goes 7 - 3 With 5 or 6, three of the possible series lengths pay out something. With 4 or 7, only two lengths do.
