Alex 3,248
@v.2 1 CHICAGO PHOENIX Scotty Sundin @fromtheinside C TPE: 393 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 62 67 129 83 392 32 112 17 Season 81 - Regular Season 18 4 4 8 12 25 10 8 3 Season 82 - Playoffs 19 11 20 31 6 81 13 30 5 Season 81 - Playoffs 13 4 4 8 4 16 2 8 5 The consensus first overall pick, Scotty Sundin will slot right in on Chicago's first line alongside S82 top draft pick Roman Arce for the foreseeable future. Coming off of an incredible playoff run with Houston which saw Sundin score 11 goals and 20 assists in 19 games for 31 points. Sundin also has a physical side to his game that often goes unnoticed as they recorded 30 hits throughout the playoffs. This draft pick would set Chicago up really well with their only notable gaps remaining with depth pieces and a goalie and once those are in place we should see the start of a new era of Chicago dominance. 2 VANCOUVER WOLVES Brandt Fuhr @Tate G TPE: 374 SEASON GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO GA SA Season 82 - Regular Season 47 29 18 0 0.905 3.15 3 150 1575 Season 81 - Regular Season 5 0 5 0 0.883 5.55 0 25 213 Season 82 - Playoffs 11 7 3 1 0.907 3.43 0 40 429 With the retirement of Thadius Sales, the Vancouver Wolves are left without a solid starting goalie. Brandt Fuhr would step in and be that right away for the Wolves as they will quickly become the best goalie in the organization. Fuhr is coming off of a very good season in the VHLM and was one of a few goalies with a save percentage above 0.900 that they will likely carry to the next level. Additionally, with Vancouver headed into a retool following 3 consecutive cups, Fuhr would be a great first step back to contention. 3 MALMO NIGHTHAWKS Igor Molotov @Dom C TPE: 378 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 72 81 153 52 545 38 150 60 Season 81 - Regular Season 19 7 6 13 10 63 10 14 3 Season 82 - Playoffs 6 5 6 11 -2 43 4 14 4 Season 81 - Playoffs 13 5 5 10 6 43 8 9 5 Another team that is heading into a rebuild, the Malmo Nighthawks don't trade up to 3rd overall to not take the number 2 ranked forward in the draft class. Last season Molotov led the VHLM in goals (72), points (153), and tied for the lead in assists with 81. Molotov is the type of forward that you can build a team around and that is exactly what Malmo will do. 4 HC DAVOS DYNAMO Siyan Yasilievich @badcolethetitan D TPE: 276 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 15 81 96 28 121 46 84 86 Season 81 - Regular Season 10 0 1 1 -6 1 4 8 4 Season 82 - Playoffs 13 1 14 15 4 14 10 10 23 Season 81 - Playoffs 12 0 2 2 -2 3 16 16 7 Davos is coming off of a tough season and with this pick they will look to shore up their future top defensive pair. Siyan Yasilievich will slot in perfectly next to James Teekirque on Davos's blue line after 1 season in the VHLE. Yasilievich is coming off a spectacular season for the Philadelphia Reapers which saw them record 81 assists, enough to tie for the league lead. 5 NEW YORK AMERICANS AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment D TPE: 358 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 26 68 94 65 243 126 224 118 Season 81 - Regular Season 18 3 5 8 1 17 20 31 22 Season 82 - Playoffs 19 10 12 22 5 59 50 56 15 Season 81 - Playoffs 16 2 4 6 3 21 28 32 27 After drafting DeGroot last season and trading them, New York will likely take one of the top defensemen in the draft and GoodBrandSun fits the bill perfectly for what the Americans need. Last season GoodBrandSun was one of the main reasons for Houston's cup run as they recorded 10 goals, and 12 assists for 22 points in 19 games. Expect to see them in the VHL this season as they will likely slot straight into New York's top pair. 6 HELSINKI TITANS Hammar Voss @BOOM D TPE: 360 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 45 76 121 66 347 36 82 111 Season 81 - Regular Season 11 2 2 4 -7 3 16 20 7 Season 82 - Playoffs 19 9 21 30 6 90 8 14 40 Last season Hammar Voss completely tore up the VHLM as a defensemen and is the highest scoring defensemen in the VHLM since Hulk Hogan 2. Last season they had 45 goals, and 76 assists for a total of 121 points for the Houston Bulls. With Helsinki they would help the blue line out for the foreseeable future. Should Helsinki draft Voss, they would likely have to spend next season in the VHLE due to the salary cap, barring a trade. 7 TORONTO LEGION Ryuji Sakamoto @der meister D TPE: 331 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 16 63 79 -17 187 144 266 227 Season 81 - Regular Season 16 4 6 10 -3 27 12 18 25 Season 82 - Playoffs 11 1 9 10 11 24 36 49 20 With Toronto going all-in this season, I would be surprised if they hold onto this pick. If they do, Ryuji Sakamoto is the logical pick as they will add a very promising young defensemen to an already well built roster. Last season Sakamoto was one of the main reasons for Mexico's success in the regular season and playoffs as they were just above a point per game collectively. Sakamoto has a very bright future and Toronto could be the place we see them come to the VHL. 8 D.C. DRAGONS Brian Kowalski @Wheaties D TPE: 273 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 34 53 87 28 302 63 93 102 Season 81 - Regular Season 10 0 1 1 -6 6 14 6 10 Season 82 - Playoffs 19 12 19 31 14 81 8 24 29 Season 81 - Playoffs 12 2 1 3 -2 6 10 8 11 Brian Kowalski fits perfectly into D.C.'s defensive structure for seasons to come as following one season they will slot perfectly into the top 4. This past season Kowalski was very productive for Saskatoon as they scored 12 goals and 19 assists in 19 games on their way to a Founder's Cup win. 9 CALGARY WRANGLERS Pete Mitchell @Crstats23 LW TPE: 250 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 44 49 93 25 366 33 88 22 Season 81 - Regular Season 18 1 1 2 -1 20 2 10 1 Season 82 - Playoffs 7 3 2 5 -3 26 6 11 2 Season 81 - Playoffs 16 3 0 3 -6 25 10 17 3 The Calgary Wranglers have also gone into a retool this offseason and we should expect them to draft the best player available with each of their picks. This past season Pete Mitchel was a very reliable and consistent forward in the VHLM and recorded 44 goals and 49 assists for a total of 93 points in 72 games. With Calgary they would step in on their first line in season 84 and potentially be Calgary's top winger for their entire career alongside either Daniel Janser or Saku Kotkakoivu. 10 CALGARY WRANGLERS Jake Thunder @Thunder D TPE: 251 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 4 19 23 -19 72 64 177 117 Season 82 - Playoffs 7 0 8 8 4 12 12 10 8 Jake Thunder is a very interesting pick here as they are the top defensemen remaining in the draft, but did not have the strongest season as they only recorded 4 goals and 19 assists for 23 points in 72 games. Their defensive upside though cannot be ignored as they had 177 hits and 117 shots blocked. Additionally, they were above a point per game in the playoffs for the Las Vegas Aces. With Calgary they would likely get the call-up for season 84 where they would be the backbone of Calgary's future defence core. 11 HC DAVOS DYNAMO Leandro Goncalves @leandrofg C TPE: 253 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 27 38 65 -30 211 36 93 18 Season 82 - Playoffs 11 8 13 21 9 36 4 20 5 Davos needs forwards and Leandro Goncalves would fit the gap perfectly as they are projected as a elite first line center that will be in the VHL for S84. Last season Goncalves was great for Mexico as they were well over a point per game in their time with the team (61 GP, 71 Points). Their time in the VHLE in season 83 should allow for them to further develop their game and really start to progress towards their potential. 12 LONDON UNITED Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877 LW TPE: 242 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 41 58 99 -10 388 43 117 60 Season 82 - Playoffs 7 5 8 13 5 29 2 9 2 London is in a position right now where they really don't need anything, as a result we should expect London to take Landon Wolanin. Last seasons Wolanin came just shy of 100 points in the regular season, but was excellent defensively having 60 shots blocked as a forward. Once they make the VHL they will be an excellent second line forward for any team and should be able to be on most teams first line shortly there after. 13 CALGARY WRANGLERS Ivan Retoslav @eagle_3450 C TPE: 249 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 26 54 80 26 234 29 93 28 Season 82 - Playoffs 19 10 10 20 -5 86 12 38 6 Calgary could do one of two things with this pick, either draft the best player available in Ivan Retoslav or draft positionally and take Baxter Arcanum. Last season Retoslav made a name for themselves and is becoming a very active member of the hockey community. While playing in a secondary role on Houston they recorded an impressive 80 points in the regular season and were above a point per game in the playoffs. Retoslav is very similar to Goncalves in the sense that they both have an extremely high ceiling and project to be very good players in the VHL. 14 NEW YORK AMERICANS Augustus Kennedy @InstantRockstar G TPE: 247 SEASON GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO GA SA Season 82 - Regular Season 71 53 17 1 0.895 2.76 4 198 1877 Season 82 - Playoffs 19 12 5 2 0.895 3.77 1 73 694 After missing out on Brandt Fuhr at 5th overall, New York will be looking for their franchise goaltender and they will find them at 14th overall in Augustus Kennedy. Kennedy was a major reason for Saskatoon's success last season as they recorded a ridiculous 53 wins in 71 games. in the playoff their play continues as they maintained a 0.895 SV% throughout the entire season, although their goals against did increase by 1.01 in the playoffs. With that being said, Kennedy is a goaltender that shows a lot of potential and any team that adds them knows that they are getting an elite goaltender for the future. 15 MOSCOW MENACE Tomas Sogaard @Brandon LW TPE: 239 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 66 37 38 75 9 320 14 79 28 Season 82 - Playoffs 11 11 8 19 -5 60 2 6 4 Moscow's cup window is still open and will remain open for a few more seasons to come. Tomas Sogaard will be a reason that it stays that way once they make the jump to the VHL in season 84. Last season Sogaard played great for Mexico as they recorded an impressive 37 goals and 75 points in 66 games. Additionally, they played a major role in Mexico's playoff run with 19 points in 11 games. Sogaard will likley fill a depth role in Moscow as soon as season 84 and will likely see an expanded role shortly there after. 16 VANCOUVER WOLVES PJ Daniels @xNJDevilsFanx LW TPE: 239 SEASON GP G A PTS (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB Season 82 - Regular Season 72 23 26 49 20 167 70 152 21 Season 82 - Playoffs 7 5 3 8 5 5 20 19 2 With the final pick of the first round and having already secured their franchise goaltender, Vancouver will probably look to draft a top remaining forward to hopefully be one of the core pieces for their future roster. PJ Daniels will be another part of their future first line alongside of Kakapo Bushtit. Last season Daniels improved drastically over the course of the season as can be seen with them being over a point per game in the playoffs compared to 49 points in 72 regular season. Daniels will hope to continue this scoring pace next season in the VHLE prior to making the jump to the VHL for season 84 or 85.
