S85 Hall of Fame Induction

Nice and easy one this season. With us taking a break from Builder inductions for at least this season and a split vote* for 2nd place among players, we only have one induction this season and it was something of a slam dunk. *I should note that we don't do run-off votes for the HOF as generally if there is no consensus for 2nd place that might mean that we think several of the players are worthy but maybe not as a first ballot choice.

Anyway....

RW - Duncan Idaho, S77-S84 :mos::dcd:

RS: 576 GP, 367 G, 424 A, 791 P, +174, 1,222 PIM, 2,734 HIT, 249 SB, 60 GW

S77 Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy (Top Rookie)

S80 Scotty Campbell Trophy (Most Valuable)

S80 Scott Boulet Trophy (Top Two-Way Forward)

S81 Scott Boulet Trophy (Top Two-Way Forward)

S82 Scott Boulet Trophy (Top Two-Way Forward)

S83 Scott Boulet Trophy (Top Two-Way Forward)

S84 Scotty Campbell Trophy (Most Valuable)

S84 Brett Slobodzian Trophy (Most Oustanding)

S84 Mike Szatkowski Trophy (Most Points)

S84 Scott Boulet Trophy (Top Two-Way Forward)

2x All-VHL First Team (S81, S84)

3x All-VHL Second Team (S80, S82, S83)

Usually I do a brief write-up here but it's almost easier to just list some highlights in this case:

  • 25th most goals all time, the highest total since Matt Thompson and Podrick Cast retired in S68
  • 29th most points, again the highest since Thompson and Cast
  • 3rd most hits of all time
  • Joint most Boulet Trophies, tying the legendary David Smalling on 5
  • Joint 2nd most career playoff points, tying Dakota Lamb just 8 points behind Scotty Campbell himself
  • Most hits in the playoffs by anyone ever, nearly 100 hits above Mikko Lahtinen in 2nd place

All he didn't win was a Continental Cup, coming up short 4 straight times with Moscow, but his legacy is secure anyway. Congratulations on another Hall of Famer @OrbitingDeath  , also now joint 2nd among all members with 5 to his name.

Wait someone voted for Holik?

Anyway, obviously we’ll deserved @OrbitingDeath . To the surprise of absolutely no one of course since your players are basically guaranteed slam dunks.

Who tf didn't vote for Idaho?

I know who and tbh I somewhat respect the decision to get two of the "2nd place" players some love because you know Idaho will win. Although would not be good if everyone did that.

Someone back there keeping the dream alive.

I could go check who but I prefer the mystery.

Well then if you want the mystery, I'll just spoil it and say it was me. You're welcome! 🤣

Big congrats @OrbitingDeath incredibly well deserved.

Thank you to everyone involved making this career legendary ❤️  Time to crash down back to earth with the frenchman's career

So many HOFers!  What's your secret to player builds?
