1. A disappointing end to the season for the Titans. What was your thoughts after the final game?

As mentioned it was disappointing, but now begins the Voss era in Helsinki. Hold on people of Finland, it could be a bumpy ride.

2. The team obviously finished sixth in Europe, but would have been second in North America. Can you consider this season somewhat of a success given the record, or is still a failure?

Still not where the team deserved to be, but hardly a failure. Just a position to build and improve upon next season.

3. How much attention are you paying to the VHL playoffs now that the Titans aren't in it?

I'm really only looking at the boxscores to use for my finals predictions. Selfish attitude probably.

4. Of the teams left, who are you rooting to win the VHL title?

My head say's Seattle and so do my predictions, but I wouldn't mind seeing Moscow emerge victorious.

5. After the final game, where did you go to begin your offseason?

I took a bone-rattling low budget flight from Bratislava to Helsinki. There's no time to waste for Voss, he's ready to be a VHL'er.

6. Following a tough loss, everybody could use a pick-me-up. What's your favorite type of ice cream?

I like a good New Zealand Hokey Pokey( plain vanilla ice cream with small, pieces of honeycomb toffee).

For the week ending 6/12/22:

1. Helsinki's done well in the year-end Lottery Tournament. What's your thoughts on the team's play there?

2. How much attention do you pay to offseason tourneys like the Lottery Tournament, World Cup, WJC, etc.?

3. Is there a type of special competition for VHL players that we're not doing that you'd like to see?

4. Which VHL/VHLE/VHLM team has your favorite logo and why?

5. The Stanley Cup finals are coming up soon too. Who you rooting for?

6. I ask the question every year, and with Edmonton down 3-0 as of now I'm asking again: When's the next time a Canadian team wins the Stanley Cup?

6. I ask the question every year, and with Edmonton down 3-0 as of now I'm asking again: When's the next time a Canadian team wins the Stanley Cup?

1. I think we're hunting for the best odds bump possible, naturally. If we're going to miss the playoffs, we better have a fire lit under our asses.

2. I only follow the lottery tournament if I'm in it, same for WJC. WC is more interesting to me since I'm a commissioner for it, but I want to make it interesting for everyone to follow.

3. I think we should be placing more value on WJC/WC since we have other tournaments to keep people busy in the offseason. Bring the value back to the national competitions.

4. Las Vegas of course, but only because I had a role in designing it 😄

5. Probably the Avalanche. They've got a fantastic team all around and they're fun to watch.

6. Dunno, maybe in the next decade? Rough for them but I'm a Pittsburgh fan so they could never win again for all I care lol.

1. Helsinki's done well in the year-end Lottery Tournament. What's your thoughts on the team's play there?

It's nice to see Helsinki as a team to play well and it's also nice to see the players still have that hunger to perform!

2. How much attention do you pay to offseason tourneys like the Lottery Tournament, World Cup, WJC, etc.?

A lot, or well if my player is playing I do follow closely, but otherwise maybe not as much.

3. Is there a type of special competition for VHL players that we're not doing that you'd like to see?

I think it could be fun to have some kind of "top teams of VHLM and VHLE and teams that missed VHL playoffs" - tournament during off-season.

4. Which VHL/VHLE/VHLM team has your favorite logo and why?

I have always liked the Houston logo, looks cool, I like flames.

5. The Stanley Cup finals are coming up soon too. Who you rooting for?

Colorado! Let's get some Finnish champs.

6. I ask the question every year, and with Edmonton down 3-0 as of now I'm asking again: When's the next time a Canadian team wins the Stanley Cup?

Who knows, maybe in few years if Edmonton manages to find some missing pieces, or somehow take the next step.

1. I would say it's indicative of what the team could be next season.

2. Not any at all sadly, I know it doesn't take much time to check but I'm just so caught up in other things usually.

3. That's a good question but honestly I can't think of one.

4. The Dragons are my favorite because.... well it's a freaking dragon, the Nighthawks are a close number 2 though, Phoenix has a really good one to.

5. Is it wrong that I wanna see Tampa win it? To see an official dynasty happen in the NHL for the first time since the 80's Oilers. I would still be happy if the Rangers or Colorado won it though.

6. 2024?

For the week ending 6/19/22:

1. We're in the offseason! What's your offseason training program look like?

2. Where would you like to see Helsinki improve this offseason?

3. Anyone you have your eye on with the #4 pick? (Or if the draft already happened, who did you think we were going to pick?)

4. We've seen a few players exit already this offseason, including last year's starters Erlantz Jokinen and Flynn Remy. Any words to your former teammates as they take off?

5. We've also seen a few players already re-sign, such as Nezuko and William Groves. What do you think drew these players back to the Titans?

6. Are you rooting for anybody in the World Junior Championship this year?

1. We're in the offseason! What's your offseason training program look like?

Wait, we were supposed to train during the offseason? Oh shit.

2. Where would you like to see Helsinki improve this offseason?

The team played really well last season and there's no reason to see why they can't improve even further in all aspects.

3. Anyone you have your eye on with the #4 pick? (Or if the draft already happened, who did you think we were going to pick?)

No I haven't to be honest. The Front Office gets paid to take care of the personnel here, I'll just keep trying to become a better player, no matter who is alongside me on the ice.

4. We've seen a few players exit already this offseason, including last year's starters Erlantz Jokinen and Flynn Remy. Any words to your former teammates as they take off?

Cya, wouldn't wanna be ya. It's always sad , well almost always, when players depart, but it opens up opportunities for others.

5. We've also seen a few players already re-sign, such as Nezuko and William Groves. What do you think drew these players back to the Titans?

Obviously the chance to be a part of the Hammar Voss experience is a factor in these re-signings. Hold on tight boys!

6. Are you rooting for anybody in the World Junior Championship this year?

As the forgotten man of Team World, obviously I'm hoping that we can show the rest of the competition just how awesome we are.

6. Are you rooting for anybody in the World Junior Championship this year?

1. Well standard stuff so far, just making sure conditioning is good and developing strength to hang with the big boys for another season.

2. A big improvement was in the locker room, adding to the youth movement with Voss and Nesbitt coming up. Bringing back guys like Nezuko and Nasherov was big in my own decision to re-sign with the team.

3. I think that Bouchard is one of the best defensemen in the class and could join Voss as one of the best pairings in the league very quickly. If we're looking to boost the forward group, it'd be nice to bring in a natural center like Dogwood Maple to allow me to play more wing, a bit more in a freestyle method.

4. I wish them all the best, and hope they have success on their new teams. Jokinen will play a big role in Calgary while Remy is going to Moscow who has had success everywhere but in the finals. Hope he can carve out the role over there that he couldn't here with younger players making him expendable. But they were great teammates and I am very happy to have played with them.

5. Well personally, it's just the overall mindset of the organization and everyone in it. We all want to win and the letdown of last season is fresh on our minds. We want to prove that we're contenders for the cup and we've all been working towards that collective goal. Seeing the efforts everyone was putting in made me want to come back as well.

6. I'll always root for Europe after playing there during my own WJC season. It's a great way to meet fellow Europeans who will grow alongside you as professionals.

1. Really it's just to relax, keep in shape and all but making sure your mentally ready for the next season is important.

2. The blue line.

3. Maloish or Burns

4. Play hard and see you on the ice!

5. To quote a certain someone "unfinished business"

6. Sadly I never pay attention to it, so no DX (rl has been hectic to so there's that.)

1. A major trade! Reylynn Reinhart will be joining the Titans for their final season. What's your thoughts on the deal?

2. A major move! Reinhart has moved to center for his final season. What's the most important skill for a new center to learn in your eyes?

4. A major free agent leaving! Jonathan Ori left for the Bears in free agency. Why do you think he chose to leave for another team?

5. With one more week left of the offseason, what are you doing to enjoy the rest of your player's vacation time?

6. One year in to the new skater attributes, what's your thoughts on them so far?

1. Anytime we can bring in an excellent player, it's something to appreciate and look forward to. Will be excited to see how she complements our roster!

2. Moving to center is tough, and that's from first-hand experience. It'll take a lot of work to get used to face offs, but I think it's easier for a veteran like her to handle to move since she's had to take face offs occasionally in the past anyways.

3. I'm a huge fan of Burns as a player and his agency. He's very skilled and a great person as well. Very excited that we got him and looking forward to working with him in the future!

4. It's disappointing to see someone leave for sure, especially someone as good a player and person as @ROOKIE745. He had awesome insights in the locker room and was a leader on the ice. It's a tough move to see but we'll adapt and I hope he enjoys Seattle.

5. A bit of relaxation, a bit of preparation. I want to make sure I'm the best I can be going into the season.

6. I'm a fan, I think they've worked as intended. We see a lot of build variance and different builds doing well. That's what we hoped to achieve. It has certainly impacted teams and their ability to manage the cap though, so we'll have to look into that for the  future.

1. I know he'll do great, he seems like a great player!!

2. Get ready to take lots of faceoffs, gonna have to fill that role!

3. I did! I believe it's what the team needs for down the road!

4. I can tell you it's not because I was unhappy or anything, it was something I just wanted to experience, I hadn't done it before and also wanted to do it to help recharge my interest in the league, it was a hectic but also fun time. Honestly it was a rough time to go into FA with so many teams facing cap crunch, I wish the team the best though!

5. Watching the NHL playoffs! Also watching twitch streams.

6. I think they're doing what they were designed to do, we're seeing less crazy high scoring season, not 40-ish players passing 100 points. I think there's more reason to try different builds now with this system and that's great!

1. A major trade! Reylynn Reinhart will be joining the Titans for their final season. What's your thoughts on the deal?

Welcome to Helsinki! It's great to be able to add a player of their quality and experience to the team.

2. A major move! Reinhart has moved to center for his final season. What's the most important skill for a new center to learn in your eyes?

I think it's for the player to pass as often as possible to a rookie Defenseman in scoring position 😉

3. A major draft! The Titans selected Cobalt Burns with the fourth pick in the VHL Draft. Did you like the pick?

It's great that a player of Burns' caliber was available in the 4th round. Gem's like that can make a massive contribution.

4. A major free agent leaving! Jonathan Ori left for the Bears in free agency. Why do you think he chose to leave for another team?

Imagine being a FA mercenary like that? Disgraceful in my opinion. Enjoy your blood money traitor!

5. With one more week left of the offseason, what are you doing to enjoy the rest of your player's vacation time?

Vacation? How dare the players take time for themselves. They should have been preparing and training since the day the team was eliminated last season.

6. One year in to the new skater attributes, what's your thoughts on them so far?

Still coming to terms with them to be honest. I'm sure they are having the desired effect, but as a VHL dinosaur, it may take more time for me to get used to them.

5. Gut check: Who's the S84 VHL champion and why?

6. Taking a step back, halfway through 2022 - how's it treating you so far?

1. Absolutely, our last games were the lottery tournament and we've had to look inwards and see where we needed to improve, both in the locker room and on the ice. I think we're ready for the season.

2. I'd like to think we can win the European Conference, or at least finish in the top 3.

3. Hammar Voss for sure. He was one of the top prospects in the class and we were lucky to get him. He's going to be a force to be reckoned with.

4. I'd like to hit a point per game and try to lead the team in offense. I've put in a lot of work and I'd like to translate it to helping the team win meaningful games. And of course, win the championship.

5. I'd prefer for it to be us, but I also don't think there's a clear favorite this season. Every contender has taken a step back, but I could see Warsaw make a serious run once they get a 4th defenseman.

6. Kinda nuts we're halfway through 2022. But I'm alright, work keeps me busy and have been either spending time outside with friends now that the weather is nice, or gaming with a nice group of irl friends and sim league folks.

1. The regular season's beginning! Excited to get back to the action?

Yes, of course! It's been a long wait since I made the decision to play in the E with Bratislava, but now it's time to unleash the beast.

2. What's your prediction for how well Helsinki will do this season?

I truly think a shot at winning the Euro conference is a distinct possibility. The team looks terrific on paper.

3. What player new to the team (either from trade or coming up from VHLE) are you most excited to see?

Of course I'm interested to see how Voss will do, surrounded by elite VHL talent, but Reinhart brother #112 is who I will have my eye on.

4. What personal goal have you set for this season?

To not completely suck. No, well I probably will, but I hope to play some kind of useful role for the Titans this season.

5. Gut check: Who's the S84 VHL champion and why?

The mighty, mighty Titans. Great team, front office and a sense of revenge for a slightly disappointing S83. In Booberry we trust.

6. Taking a step back, halfway through 2022 - how's it treating you so far?

Not great tbh, but there really is no sense in complaining. I'm hoping it improves tbh, as it hasn't been a great first 6 months.

1. Oh for sure! You guys are gonna kick some butt!! (and I'm happy to see what Ori can do)

2. You guys should be top of the conference I would think right? Top 3 overall team I would imagine at least.

3. Probably Voss? I expect him to have a great rookie season!!

4. Gonna aim for 100 points, but even a new career high would be great.

5. Even though I'm not with the team anymore you guys are, great overall team with the best goalie!

6. Getting better for sure, has things return more to normal the days have gotten better, looking forward to having a vacation in late July.

(Hope you don't mind me crashing in on the press conference!)

1. I think we've had this ability to play this well, we just couldn't start strong last season. We continued the momentum down the stretch last season into our start this season though and the wins have been coming. Nezuko also popping off has been really nice to see.

2. I don't know what she ate before the game, but I want some of that from now on. Monster performance and it was great to just be witness to that.

3. I sure hope so, but my players generally start strong before a mid-season collapse. If he can maintain that pace, I'm sure it'd help the team climb the standings and hold a top spot for a while, so we'll see.

4. Probably Malmo, Prague and Davos. The latter made a lot of moves to be competitive this season but I think they're still young and London might sneak ahead of them for the final playoff spot. London has been getting a lot of solid goaltending to backstop them while Davos has been struggling a lot defensively.

5. I mean the goal is always a championship win, regardless of how we get there. All that matters for this regular season is to find our game, play consistently and make the playoffs. From there, it's all about making a deep run and winning the cup.

6. I would say yes, because it basically fits the criteria of a sub sandwich (cut on one end by closed on the other), and a sub sandwich is a sandwich.

1. Erlantz Jokinen has 21 points in 18 games, do you think he could have at least 30 if he played in the easier EU division?

2. Now that the "Jokinen" - shirt is not being sold anymore in Helsinki, how are you going to make sure the team has enough money to run the organization next year?

3.  Impossible to compare, but if you dare to even try, did Erlantz Jokinen have bigger impact on or off the ice?

4. If Calgary just gives you the S85 first round pick, how much more would be needed to make the Jokinen trade feel fair?

5.  What do you think about rival journalists coming into the press conference to ask borderline antagonizing questions?

6. Game 187, how is the Calgary vs Helsinki game going to end?

1. Probably not considering the NA is the easier conference. It's just tighter since most of the GM's don't know how to have a full roster. You know who actually has 30 points in reality, and not a hypothetical? Nico Pearce.

2. Apparently Nezuko's shirts have been flying off the shelves, apparently there are a bunch of weebs out here in Helsinki. It's also quite easy to sell those "BOOB" shirts here, we've got a real degenerate fan base I guess.

3. I can't even recall his impact on the ice, he seemed to really fit the mold of mouth-breathers in the COD lobby who don't know how to mute their mic while crying that they're doing the worst on the team.

4. Considering we weren't even re-signing Jokinen, I feel like we already fleeced Calgary enough by getting a pick from them, let alone a first-rounder.

5. I don't mind, obviously their own players can't give them the content that gets attention and clicks. We're happy to keep other teams' reporters afloat!

6. They've been fun ones so far, but Helsinki will take the win.

1. A hot start for the Titans! What's been the key to picking up some early wins?

Well not the contributions from Voss, that's for sure. I'd say the excellent play of Pearce, Nez and Boobie man.

2. First game of the season, Nezuko picked up 7 points. How was she able to come out with such an amazing performance so quickly?

Anime PED's I assume. Must be some good ink.

3. As of this writing, Nico Pearce is tied for the league lead in points with 18. Do you think he'll be able to keep it up?

Hopefully he can, if only for the benefit of the genius VHFL managers who knew he'd be good.

4. The European Conference looks extremely strong once again, who are your predictions for the three teams that won't make the playoffs?

I try to stay positive, so laughing and pointing at the loser teams who have failed, simply isn't in my personality.

5. What should be the goal for the Titans this season? Title or bust, solid playoff run/top 3 seed, or something else?

I leave all of those difficult decisions to the front office. I'm not paid enough to even have input on that level of franchise-changing stuff.

6. Had a bunch of cookout hot dogs yesterday, so an oldie but goodie: Is a hot dog a sandwich?

Technically yes, although the majority will probably disagree. In the end, as long as you enjoyed consuming them, then that's what matters here.

For the week ending 7/17/22:

1. The Titans are in fourth in the conference about a third of the way through the season? Is this better or worse than you expected?

2. What's been the surprise of the VHL season so far to you?

3. What needs to happen for the Titans to begin to rise up the standings?

4. The Americans' GM recently stepped down following disagreements after the team's latest trade. Do you think VHL teams can actually be "cursed" to perform poorly?

5. It's the height of summer in the northern hemisphere. What's your favorite cookout food?

6. What's your favorite beach or lake experience?

1. It's a bit disappointing to have lost the momentum we started the season with, but we know what we have to do to get there. Just have to find our game again and play well offensively like we did before.

2. Probably between Riga being top 3 in EU and Calgary not being in top 3 in NA.

3. I think we just need to score more. We've clearly got a very strong offense but we're not scoring enough and bailing out our young defense.

4. I don't know, obviously if a team doesn't perform for as long as NYA or Davos, there'll be chatter about a curse. Sometimes teams being in bad states carry over into the next regime. But there are always points where you can look back at and question "why did they do this?" I'm not free of that as a GM and I criticize my own moves in retrospect. Some moves that the Americans made were just.....questionable and should have rightfully been critiqued, but personal jabs and undeserved criticism isn't ok.

5. Definitely grilling some salmon with some garlic honey glaze, we also have a burner on the side of our grill that we fry some fish in sometimes as well. Really, really good.

6. I'm not a big beach guy, but I did spend time as a kid at a water hole in Seattle which was pretty fun as long as I wasn't swimming near seaweed. I'd always thing the seaweed was a hand grabbing my foot and I'd panic.
