KC15 340
1. The Dragons were able to qualify for playoffs for upsetting Vancouver in the play-in series. What was the best part of that series to you? Winning and making the playoffs. lol 2. We are down in the series to Seattle right now, is there still hope when down 3-1? I'm answering after the fact, but yes. There is always hope. Almost did it. 3. What is your favorite moment of the playoffs so far this season? Getting an assist on Mikko's last goal as a Dragon in game 6 to force game 7. 4. Who has the best playoff beard? Got to be Wolski. 5. Who has the worst playoff beard? Lesieur - peach fuzz. 6. What does this year's playoffs mean for your player personally? How important is success? Lesieur wants to win. He can live with a loss if we played our best and he doesn't personally let down the team. This one was very hard as Guy did not come up clutch in game 7 including the two OTs. Will have scores to settle next season. Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/69105-dc-dragons-press-conference/page/17/#findComment-775910 Share on other sites

Right now, it's all about taking rest then getting back in the mindset to go on another run. 2. I think we'll be in the playoffs again. I think Wolski will be better as well, which works out greatly for the team. 3. Just kick back and relax, to be honest. Watch the rest of the playoffs then get right back in workout mode. 4. I believe my reaction and hand speed timing could use some work. I'll be pouring some time and effort into those areas. 5. I think it's going to be a very back and forth series but ultimately, Seattle will win. 6. Went straight to the lake and had a swim. What is the first thing your player did when leaving the VHL Playoff Bubble? 1. A lot of vino and spaghetti to cope with the pain, but eventually he'll shake it off and get back to work. It was a hell of a run. 2. The loss of Mikko is gonna hurt but i think we have the tools to adjust, Wolski looked great and I look forward in seeing him next season. 3. He's definitely going to venture back home in Italy for a bit to visit family and support system there before he hops back into the preseason training. 4. Seeing how Mikko's gone, Valentino is going to need to step into some big shoes to fill some of the missing leadership. He's been scrapping a lot recently that ended up in draws. He wants to change that. 5. It's a tough one, although I'd love to see Helsinki I think Seattle will finish it out on top. 6. What is the first thing your player did when leaving the VHL Playoff Bubble? 1. Just been trying to take it easy and forget about it. Taking a well deserved vacation and living it up before gearing in for the next season. 2. For the team I don't see why we can't make it back here again. Possibly being in an even better position honestly. As for my Ricky Johnson, I'm hoping to take that next stride seeing as I may possibly have more responsibilities headed my way. So maybe this will be a break out season for the boy 3. As I said before, partying and just enjoying the early vacay. Not trying to reminisce on the playoff loss that's for sure. 4. A bit of scoring and other than that I'd be looking to roughly keep everything the same as the current season after regressing a bit. 5. Gotta root for Helsinki seeing as Seattle beat us. 6. Let's just say I'll be a different player next season. 2. I think things are on the up! We'll have a couple of players, namely myself and Wolski, who will be entering their first real "prime" year, which is good news 3. Get better at scoring, passing is overrated ! 4. I am focusing on my faceoff so that our general manager will put me in at Center! 5. Seattle hindsight is 20/20! Actually though, I was pulling for Helsinki 6. I didn't, just because I thought it was NY's season 2. This is exactly what we need. Big, physical, defender. I think we have given up so many shots, this will help that. Makes our top defense pair one of the best in the league. 3. Defense and Goaltending. I'm expecting Wolski to have a huge season. 4. I think Vancouver really had a strong draft. Some of the expansion teams did well loading up on quality prospects, but Vancouver really got some top end talent that will help their team almost immediately and for a long period of time. 5. NY will probably be a strong team again. I think DC could be their competition out of NA. Not sure out of EU.. Davos made a pretty big splash getting Funk. 6. Flowers should be the biggest impact. Really will help DC huge. Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/69105-dc-dragons-press-conference/page/17/#findComment-778316 Share on other sites
KC15 340
1. Did you believe that Seattle would win it all again this season, why or why not? Don't really follow the rest of the league. My focus is squarely on the Dragons. 2. DC added Lance Flowers recently. How big of an impact will he have in the upcoming season? Huge! Big tough defenseman who can also score? Yes, please! 3. What do you think will be the driving force of this Dragons team to get on top next season? A nice balanced mix of forwards, defenseman and an even better goalie performance. 4. Which team do you think was the most successful on draft day? Have to be honest. Don't really follow the draft. I'd bet on DC though. 5. Who do you believe will be the top teams next season? The Dragons and some other team or two. 6. Which FA signing so far do you think will make the biggest impact? To be honest, not sure who the big FAs were. But I'm eager to get back on the ice. CowboyinAmerica 2,891
I seem to have stumbled in to this weird room... 1. What do you think about our s74 draft? We'll see how it pans out long-term, but seem to have good value with our picks. Hope our new players are having a good time! 2. What are your goals this season? It's all about the winning, baby. I came to D.C. to win a title, and hope we're able to accomplish that. 3. Do you have any superstitions before a game? Before I put on my protective cup, I just smear a little bit of jelly on the inside. Don't knock it until you've tried it. 4. Who will be our breakout star this season? I'm predicting a Goalie of the Year for Wolski this season. You heard it here first. 5. Any thoughts on who the winner is of the draft? Vancouver would be the obvious one, but for a team that needs active bodies, I really like what London's building as well. 6. What do you think this team is lacking? Experience. It's a new world in the conference finals and VHL finals, but we won't know how we do until we get there. And I think we'll get there. My goals, is to score more goals, that's the goals. Always 3. My superstition is that before each game I eat an orange, always have always will 4. As Justin Timberlake once said .... it's gonna be me 5. Draft, shmaft, no one gets a cup for having the best draft, let's see results! 6. Midnite 69
1. What do you think about our s74 draft? I'd like to think we got some pretty solid picks. They still need time to develop, but they're looking pretty promising. 2. What are your goals this season? As always it's been to hit that 50 points mark. Seem to always come up short. The idea of winning the cup would be great too! 3. Do you have any superstitions before a game? Can't say I do actually. 4. Who will be our breakout star this season? We've had a lot of guys have breakout seasons last year. My money would be on Xavier leFlamant this time around though. 5. Any thoughts on who the winner is of the draft? Honestly I didn't pay too much attention, but with a quick glance I'd say Vancouver Wolves seeing as they've managed to grab a few talented prospects 6. What do you think this team is lacking? I think we have a pretty solid defense and offense. We're lacking maybe one more offensive player, but otherwise I'd say we're alright! What do you think this team is lacking? 1. This will be hard to judge for a bit I think. We didn't have a pick until later, and as far as that goes I think we did pretty well getting Philliefan and the 2 Hoffmans. All 3 will need to develop for awhile, which is fine. We will see how they all pan out over time, but I think we came out of the draft with some great prospects. 2. To post better individual stats than last year in net and give my team a fighting chance to win every time I start. Most of all, the Continental Cup. 3. I have to tap both posts and the crossbar with my goalie stick before every game. 4. I think it will be Xavier! 5. Both London and Vancouver had three 1st rounders, so I think it has to be one of them just based on the talent alone. We'll have to see over time who actually develops into stars though. Some high picks fall off, some don't. Sometimes late picks develop more than high picks, etc. 6. A championship. STZ 5,360
1. What do you think about our s74 draft? Pretty solid with what we have. Seems like three consistent welfare players that will likel;y be a strong core into the next generation for the Dragons. 2. What are your goals this season? Championship. I hope Benny can contribute to that in any way that might mean. Hoping to put up points, but the Dragons winning would be infinitely better than any individual awards. 3. Do you have any superstitions before a game? Big Mac and 20 nugz 4. Who will be our breakout star this season? Groovy Dude. Think we have the Most Improved player sitting on our roster! 5. Any thoughts on who the winner is of the draft? Vancouver did great with their top-end picks. I think Chicago and Warsaw made huge steps forward as expansion teams. 6. What do you think this team is lacking? We are sitting really good. Obviously depth is probably our weakest point, but I don't think it's needed for a championship. We have strong Goaltending, our Defense is stacked, and our forward core is pretty elite. Midnite 69
1. Holy hell, we’ve thrown ourselves back into the playoff race. Be honest, did our slow start worry you in the first week? Honestly it didn't. Was confident we'd turn it around one way or another 2. Who is the team MVP through 12 games? Gotta say Xavier leFlamant. He's been on fire lately. Otherwise i'd say myself.. 3. Who are you looking at to step up in the next 12 games? I'd say one of our first line defenders in Flowers or Valentino. 4. DC is tied for second in the conference, but seventh place is 3 games behind us. How do we separate ourself from this logjam? In all honesty it's too early to really be looking at the conference standings just yet. Regardless we just got to go out there and play well on both ends of the ice. 5. STZ 5,360
1. Holy hell, we’ve thrown ourselves back into the playoff race. Be honest, did our slow start worry you in the first week? Not really, kind of our MO. We always start off slow, continue slow, and then come back. I think what is really nice is that we made a push earlier than years past. We are kind of slumping now, but at least we are still striking distance to the top. 2. Who is the team MVP through 12 games? I think Benny has put up the points through the first 21, but our D-core has really been stabilized with Flowers' addition. Stone has been really good with his Save Percentage near the top of the league. I really think his play has improved, and it's a major factor in our success. 3. Who are you looking at to step up in the next 12 games? I'd really love to see Valentino do what we all thought he would; rack up points. He has Flowers as a D partner now, so he can step into play without consequence. I think he's an elite defenseman, with huge scoring upside. For some reason he just hasn't been able to put up the crazy numbers some of the other elite offensive defenseman in the league have. 4. DC is tied for second in the conference, but seventh place is 3 games behind us. How do we separate ourself from this logjam? We need to keep consistent, and get wins on the teams that are lower than us. Our issue is we can beat the top teams, but then we just fold against expansion teams. I think in the end the sim will always even out and good teams will always end up in a good position; but we definitely need to stop this roller-coaster trend. 5.
