1. What are you doing in your offseason?

Partying hard, licking toilet seats, catching people's coughs with my tongue. Anything I can to get a day off work.

 

2. What are you expecting for your point totals this year?

I don't really know. I don't know if I'll take that statistical next step til I get onto the first line.

 

3. Do you have any other goals for this upcoming season?

I wanna lead the team in PIMs. Skate hard hard hard on the shifts, then take a 2 minute breather.

 

4. How do you think we did at the draft?

I'm worried we're stuck in the mushy mediocre middle between contending and reloading. If we're going to move valuable picks, I'd like to see something that will help us here and now come back. Otherwise, make the pick and stock the cupboard. Kinda feels like we did neither this draft.

 

5. Who is your sleeper pick for this coming season?

Individually, come ask me once VHFL is done picking. Teamwise, Dragons for the Cup babyyyyyyyy!

 

6. How are you doing through this pandemic?

Honestly, the pandemic has been a life saver. Since our extended March Break, I've had the time needed to breathe (thru a mask, obv), assess and fix my mental health, and build back better. Rural Canada has been left behind by covid, I've got a job where I work remotely, and I've got a small bubble of trustworthy family who supports each other. Day to day life is hard: my job is incredibly difficult and learning to do it this year has been an extra challenge, still struggling with my new diagnoses and meds, but when I take a step back and look at the big picture or from an outsiders' view, I've got little to complain about. Hopefully that means I have the emotional space to help out my team, cause I know there's a lot of not-great answers to this question regularly. Being social in voice chat on discord has eased a lot of the loneliness.

Working out, trying to fight against depreciation. It's one of the most important off seasons for Benny,

Likely go point per game and I'll be happy.

Eno is always good at finding good TPE producers that are cool people in the LR. I'm not super familiar with this draft class, but I trust we did great.

6. How are you doing through this pandemic?

Great. Has actually been a great year for me personally - although I understand this is difficult times for many people.

1. Just training my ass off! I want to be in tip top shape before next season to go on a run.

Didn't pay much attention, but i'm sure we did great.

Good. Things were starting to open back up but it also looks like we may be shutting back down again.

1) I think we did the opposite, we bribed the scheduler to give us an easier start to the season hehe
2) Not at all, in fact it has given Ove more time in the gym and on the ice to further improve
3) Teamwork, we all work as a unit.
4) Honestly our entire 2nd line, they have been massive in our start this season
5) Think Flowers moving to Forward has made an impact, giving more ice-time to rookie defenders while also filling a need in a high tpe forward

1. I think we just played too well in the playoffs, we'll do it again this year

2. I mean, if anything positively. We have 3 leaders in different stat categories on our team

It obviously is the first line making opponents so tired that the second line can easily score. Has to be.

So I'm not gonna pick just one - it's the entire second forward line. I'm calling them the Gretzky Voltron for now.

 

5. Which offseason move has made the biggest impact on our game?

Pairing that second line up was a good call, especially since their talent level is so much higher than other second lines.

 

6. How's life this week?

Still full on turkey, staying safe and healthy - I'm doing fine overall, can't complain.

1. They just want to give us a more interesting race to the playoffs by having our games be uneven.

1. I think we need to accept that maybe the 2nd line is the first line now ?? Or, ya know, virtual steroids

2. I think that you should post more TPE opportunities in the discord, like pressers  

3. The hardest working player by TPE gained is probably Groovy, Lance, or Benny. They seldom do welfare.

1) Think we have to spy on our 2nd line guys and figure out what magic they're using, cuz they are playing unreal

It might be time for a shake up, honestly. I know the second line is playing well, but it's not translating into wins.

Don't be afraid to shake things up. The end goal is wins, and everything should be in favor of that.

It has to be Graves, like it has been for a while. His work ethic impressed me before I even got to the Dragons.

 

4. Who do you think we'll get our scoring title?

Dood's probably the favorite, but it could be any of that current second line. They have something that clicks.

 

5. Who is your favourite NHL team?

Is it bad to say I don't really have one? As someone who grew up near Philly (but not in it), lived in Chicago during the Blackhawks run, and is now in Minnesota, I like to see all those teams do well.

 

6. How are you doing through this pandemic?

So for something different from every other week, I'll say horrible and like I'm running constantly through fire. Just to see what happens.

1. Line mixups always seem to get things going for a little bit.

2. Line mixing and strats. Try anything. Swap wingers from 2nd and 1st lines just to see what happens.

3. Groovy always gives it his all and it shows in the stats.

I think a switch-up could be good. It's hard to know for sure, really surprising how weak this line has been.

Keep grinding. It can be really hard when you're team doesn't live up to expectations when you've done everything in your power to bring them success. Things will turn around, just continue doing what you're doing.

 

3. Who is the hardest working player on the roster?

I think we have a lot of grinders on this team. No shortage of activity or TPE being earned; it's what has driven this team to have to lose so many solid players. Groovy has been awesome as a new young player, but guys like Wolski and Flowers show what it takes every single day to be an elite player.

 

4. Who do you think we'll get our scoring title?

I think Goovy Dude will, he's been a machine. He's really been the driving force all year for our team - it would be great to see him get some individual awards.

 

5. Who is your favourite NHL team?

Toronto Maple Leafs

I have been doing great. Been some adjustments to everything, but overall I'm doing well.

1. Probably the VHL, since I don't believe the other league is the same.

2. No because the other league is very different compared to the VHL.

3. It's somewhat easy to manage.

4. None. I go straight to the VHL copy of Dreger or Friedman on Twitter.

5. I mostly use my phone for VHL interactions.

6. Huge jump in production and getting a decent amount of points.

1) I've only ever been in 1 sim league and that is this one, I've looked at couple of others in the beginning but the automated updating system is what stood out for me, personally.
2) Yeah, never tried any other, might in the future but right now I have no interest
3) I've went through phases, in the beginning it was super easy, I'd check the site multiple times per day, then when I "burnt out" I was really inactive, maybe 1 time per day or not even that, nowadays I'm chilling and still visiting the site couple of times per day
4) C easy answer, gotta see what the analysts and league leaders are thinking about it, what a mad day that would be
5) Most of the time I'm on a desktop PC, sometimes when I wake up I check the sim results on my phone

VHL. I've tried other leagues, but this has always been my main. Hockey is my favorite sport, I really enjoy the community, the Commish group is aligned almost exactly how I would like, and my players have had a lot of success here, so it's the perfect spot for me to spend my free time.

 

2. Is your main league the same as your first league? If no, why'd you switch?

Yep. I joined SHL pretty soon after VHL - I just didn't connect the same way. I think that league is cool, I just didn't quite get grabbed in like I did here.

 

3. Do you find it easy or hard to keep up with one or more sim leagues in your life?

It's a lot harder than when I first joined. When I first joined I didn't have as much responsibility at work, and I didn't have a daughter, and I had moved two hours away from friends and family. Basically I spent almost every waking moment thinking about VHL and on the forums. Things have obviously changed a lot in the last 9 years or whatever it's been.
