ASIANBOUBABI reacted to solas in Müller Looking Towards S54
Before the draft, many had questions about Lukas Müller’s character - was he too self-centered to succeed in the VHL?  Could he stick with one team?  His talent wasn't in doubt, but there were questions about whether he had the dedication to be a top player in the VHL.  Thus far, it seems like he's adjusted well to the big leagues.  “I think I'll be in Quebec for the long haul,” Müller said in a press conference after the Meute’s elimination from the playoffs by New York.  “The issue I’ve had in the past is a lack of respect and a lack of quality teammates.  I have that now.  We all work hard here, there's an understanding that we've got to work together and be able to rely on each other to succeed.”
Next season will be very important for Quebec.  With a young group of players and rumors swirling about Seattle’s possible rebuild, the Meute will be taking another step towards becoming a contender.  Can they continue to improve?

No intro here. You already know what's up.

    1. TORONTO LEGION

    Torstein Ironside ( @DollarAndADream )

Dollar is trying to confuse us with his ''uncertainty'', but I'm not buying into that. I think he's not a risky type of man and he will choose the safe pick, a.k.a his own goalie. Also, Torstein is a goalie. We could discuss about the another possibilty in Marcus King, but once again, Torstein is more safe player.

    2. DAVOS DYNAMO

    Aleksei Fedorov ( @Banackock )

Lots of members are predicting Fook Yu being the #2 player, but @Smarch can go with a defenseman as well. Like Fedorov - we know Bana likes to retire his players early because of Seattle needs, but Aleksei isn't a GM player. Also, Smarch's player, Rusty Trombone is a forward, so he could wait one more season to draft another offensive guy. I couldn't say that defenceman's are the rare breed, but we aren't used to see the influx of them either, that's why the Davos' GM probably is going to snatch Fedorov.

    3. HELSINKI TITANS

    Fook Yu ( @tfong )

This pick is under a big question. The main option is Tfong's player - even if SWC III will re-sign with Helsinki, he has only one season left and @Higgins will need a player who could back up Cornerstone. Yu is the right guy - Fong can say about his activity all he wants, but at the end of the day, the Hong Kong native will become the solid defensive center, no doubt about it.
Alternative option: Marcus King (or Markus?), for an entertainment purposes ( @Da Trifecta vs @Kendrick - that's so wow) and for own benefit.

    4. RIGA REIGN

    Shawn Gretzky ( @TheLastOlympian07 )

I actually know a lot about this pick, but who's going to be drafted here? I'm going with Shawn Greztky - TLO's Muller will turn into a dust after this season and this means Gretzky will get much TPE's. You can't go wrong with this pick: maybe he won't break his own TPE record with Gretzky, but he doesn't even needs to do that to make a real offensive threat.

    5. QUEBEC CITY MEUTE

    Hudson Abbott ( @Bushito )

I fail to see that @Frank is giving up his 5th pick because he can get a very important player here. We all know Quebec is in dire need of a defenseman, so Abbott is a no-brainer. He is very active, he is ready for the VHL league and he shows no sign of slowing down. The FA class is weak and there are not a lot of defenseman's on the trade block - Hudson practically is a saviour here.
Alternative option: @Pablo, for bringing him back to a team where spent more than 10 seasons while being a GM.

    6. STOCKHOLM VIKINGS

    Rudolph Schmeckeldorf ( @Corco )

@Advantage doesn't needs a goalie and there are no first class defenseman left. So Rudolph is going to be a solid choice - he'll likely be up in next season and that's one more good depth option alongside with Jenkins. Perhaps I said ''RIP STO'' too soon? BTW, could Miller draft someone else? Yes, he can, like:
Alternative option: Verner Reinholdt ( @Devise ), to make a full Padjocast forward trio in Stockholm.

    7. HELSINKI TITANS

    Takashi Fujimoto ( @HFD )

Knowing that Higgins actually does give a damn about the VHLM, he could go with a first-gen, Takashi Fujimoto. I don't even recall who was the last active first-gen; Adwyer in S48 perhaps? So HFD is a really special member and I see the league Commish might take him for even better LR presence.
Alternative option: Marc(k)us King. No comments here.

    8. QUEBEC CITY MEUTE

    Pablo ( @Pablo )

Kesler hasn't a lots of TPE so far and that gives Frank a chance to return his old buddy to QUE without even spending his higher pick. That could be a total win for this team - a future superstar defenceman and Quebec's legend in one draft. I think there is no reason for GM to sell his picks when he has this opportunity.

    9. CALGARY WRANGLERS

    Verner Reinholdt ( @Devise )

Looks like Stockholm won't find the keys against NYA, like in S47 so I'm giving Calgary the 9th pick. But there are some questions left, the biggest of them - what @eaglesfan036 has on his mind? He just became the old-new Calgary's GM yesterday and we can't predict his moves yet. But I heard he is looking for give up his pick for a player, but for now let's imagine nobody took his pick. So right now I see he will play safe and take Verner as this is a solid pick itself; I think the NY GM a.k.a. Mr. Three Paragraphs won't retire his player for nothing and that's always a good thing for a rebuilding team.
Alternative option: King, if Jacob somehow get dealt. Then this pick becomes obvious.

    10. NEW YORK AMERICANS

    Marcus King ( @Kendrick )
or Markus? really, WTF is going on here?

There are no first round caliber players left, so this is an obvious pick. That's a good pick/player in future for Devise and this can't be bad if he wants to build a dynasty. Probably King won't fall so far, but the goalie influx can hit hard to his future career.

You think I'm done here? You wish...

    11. DAVOS DYNAMO

    Slava Aleksei ( @Tyler )

Smarch got a defenseman? Now it's time to find a solid forward depth and right now he will have two options. I guess Slava is more appealing - looks like Tyler is ready to make another good forward and be a true steal of this draft. Davos will be happy to see this type player, that's for sure.

    12. TORONTO LEGION

    Jon Snow ( @ChiefNoka4 )

Toronto might become a serious defensive threat if Dollar will chose Snow and he'll become a steal. Rowe was an another option, but DAAD's GM player is a center. Let's hope Jon won't fade away, because that's another first-gen.

    13. RIGA REIGN

    Rask Rowe ( @Rowe89 )

I thought we lost Rowe, but apparently he refuses to give up, he even made a graphic PT and that's why I will gladly pick him and try to make him a steal. By the way, he's a third or fourth first-gen - not bad tbh.
Alternative option: Vernon von Axelberry. Under some circumstanses I will pick Robbie's second player and will make him ''mad''.

    14. HELSINKI TITANS

    Riley Harper ( @Daniel )

I know I could pass von Axelberry to other team, but for now I'm going with Harper. Maybe Higgins will find a way how to get Dankoa back to VHL. Also, he's an ex-GM of the Titans; this could make some positive things, like his comeback.

    15. COLOGNE EXPRESS

    Vernon von Axelberry ( @BobertZ )

If somehow Vernon gets s_nubbed (is this word still under censorship?), @gregreg is going to take him with a big smile on his face. Cologne needs a goalie and this pick is a no-brainer. If this happens, Greg is going to be the happiest man in the world for at least one night.

    16. RIGA REIGN

    Luca Volkov ( @Kyle )

He might be an underappreciated player, but I know he still has a chance to be a the late second round steal, like @KitRas in last season. He just needs to consistently earn his TPE (even welfare is working) and we have a good second/third pair defenceman.

The other players are inactive, so this is going to be quick:

    17th: Calgary takes Harambe
18th: Cologne takes Jean Claude Girrard
    19th: Davos takes Evgeni Tukarov
    20th: New York takes JourneyMan

and the rest are bunch of 30 TPE and retired-already players.

    That's it and I'm out.

    9 TPE goes to Krīgars

    Mock of All Mocks

    1st Overall: Toronto Legion

    Fook Yu
Toronto could take Fook Yu in the top spot of the draft here, because why not solidify your top centerman spot for the future? Sure, Toronto could take a goalie, but Yu is a bonified top forward ready to make the jump right away. He is the top TPE earning forward in the draft, and after seeing the likes of Max Molholt for his whole career in Toronto, drafting a high talent centerman is never a bad idea.

    2nd Overall: HC Davos Dynamo

    Aleksei Federov
Davos already has mist4ke in the goaltending position, so they probably do not take one of the big goalie names at 2nd overall. So what else should they do, other than take the next best TPE earning skater? Aleksei Federov is that man, and would be a great up and coming defenseman to play alongside Pavel Komarov.

    3rd Overall: Helsinki Titans

    Shawn Gretzky
Helsinki already has Astrid Moon, so they might not need another goaltender unless they want one of them to be the backup. So, this brings the next best skater to the name of Shawn Gretzky. Why not cover the bases and solidify the center spot for seasons to come? Helsinki could do just that by adding in Gretzky. They already have Franchise Cornerstone, but that doesn't mean they should shy away from another center stud.

    4th Overall: Riga Reign

    Markus King
Riga has Dmitry Dadonov in the crease right now, but picking a big name goaltender in this draft would be a good decision for them. The top TPE earner in the draft, Markus King, could be that player. Although I've heard rumblings of agency troubles with Riga, so they could also go with Torstein Ironside. Nothing negative, of course, but the agency could want a fresh look. Maybe I'm just making shit up? Who knows? Markus King would fill the hole in net for the Reign when Dadonov is gone.

    5th Overall: Quebec City Meute

    Hudson Abbott
Quebec doesn't need a goaltender, so Hudson Abbott is probably the right choice here. With Apollo Skye and Edwin Threencarnacion tag teaming in net for them right now, they likely would stay away from goaltending at this point in the draft. Hudson Abbott would provide a lot of skill for them on defense heading forward.

    6th Overall: Stockholm Vikings

    Rudolph Schmeckeldorf
With Rhett DeGrath in net for the Vikings, I see them going to the forward position and grabbing left winger Rudolph Schmeckeldorf. You can never have enough offense in the Victory Hockey League, and Schmeck would provide key offense moving into the future. With some aging players on the roster right now, Rudolph could be a go-to guy soon.

    7th Overall: Helsinki Titans

    Torstein Ironside
At 3rd overall with the Titans picking Gretzky, they may very well grab another goaltender here. Ironside would provide depth in the crease for Astrid Moon. Word has it that Ironside wouldn't mind being on a 1-2 punch goaltending duo, so this could be a good choice for him. Also with a lot of doubters towards the Astrid Moon agency, Torstein Ironside would give Helsinki insurance in the position.

    8th Overall: Quebec City Meute

    Takahashi Fujimoto
Right winger Takahashi Fujimoto may not fall this far in the draft, but if he does I see Quebec snagging him here. Fujimoto would produce a lot of points for the Meute and make them solid at that position right out of this draft.
