    Dimitri Volosenkov

    Age: 21
    Position: LW
    Height: 72 in.
    Weight: 190 lbs.
    Birthplace: Russia
    Preferred Number: 77

    Early Childhood

Dimitri Volosenkov was born on August 23rd, 1997 to Sergei and Helena Volosenkov in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia. He is the middle child in the family with an older brother Evgeni (25), and a younger sister Svetlana (18). Dimitri has always been involved in the hockey lifestyle with his father being a successful player in the KHL with SKA St. Petersburg. He grew up watching his father play and teaching him how to play at a very young age. His father wanted him to grow up to play in the VHL someday and wanted him to practice whenever Dimitri wasn't in school. He would spend most of his free time at the rink working on his skating and his shot with his father. Dimitri never felt forced into playing hockey, the game just came to him naturally. He had a very deep passion for it even as young as 3 or 4 years old. Ever since a young age it was his dream to make it to the pros and make his father proud, whether it be in the KHL, NHL, or VHL.

    Preteen Years

Dimitri spent the majority of his youth life attending schools in St. Petersburg and playing on the best hockey teams he could try out for. When he was 11 years old his father tragically died in a plane crash on the way to Helsinki to play against the Jokerit. This hit Dimitri very hard as he had spent a lot of time with his father and countless hours training with him. Dimitri wanted to make sure that he would make his father proud even if he wasn't around to see it. He would never miss a summer camp, even travelling to Moscow to train with NHL greats such as; Pavel Bure and Sergei Federov. Dimitri once met Pavek Datsyuk during a camp and idolized how he played the game of hockey. He began watching every game Datsyuk played in and studying how lethal he was on the ice. He aspired to grow his game to such a level were he could strip players of the puck and outmaneuver opponents with his slick footwork. Players knew what Datsyuk was capable of and Dimitri wanted to grow to that same level of notoriety amongst the league he was in.

    QMJHL - Halifax Mooseheads

Dimitri's first step of success was when he was drafted in the first round 7th overall by the Halifax Mooseheads. The following season he impressed at training camp and got a spot on the roster in his rookie season. Every year he kept increasing his minutes working his way up the lines improving his numbers every season. Fans took immediate notice of Dimitri as he continued to impress them season after season. He became a household name for the Mooseheads and a fan favourite with his precision of the shots he took. He spent his entire Junior career with the team and taking them deep in the playoffs a couple times but they could never quite capture the President's Cup or the Memorial Cup.

    University - Dalhousie Tigers

After being passed by at NHL draft a couple times despite putting up solid numbers he wasn't ready to hang up the skates yet. He decided to continue his hockey career at the university level and was accepted at Dalhousie University studying Engineering. Dimitri tried out for the Men's hockey team and was immediately put on first line for the team. After having a successful first season with the Tigers he took his team deep in the playoffs going all the way to the finals and being beaten out the UNB Varsity Reds.

    Where he is today

After being approached by a couple different teams in the VHLM, Dimitri signed a contract with the Ottawa Lynx to help them make a playoff run. After signing the contract his days in university may be over as he continues to further his hockey career and making it one step closer to the Pros. Currently Dimitri has yet to play a game for Ottawa but he looks forward to working his way up the lineup and making an impact on the team through his presence on the ice and scoring touch. A Russian news source caught up with Dimitri and asked him a few questions, here's what they had to say.

Looking back what is your favourite hockey memory so far?

"Я думаю, что до сих пор я должен был сказать, что я могу тренироваться с моим отцом столько, сколько я делал до его отъезда, или время, когда я встретился с Павлом Дацюком в Москве в хоккейном лагере."

("I think so far I'd have to say either being able to train with my dad for as long as I did before he passed or the time I got to meet Pavel Datsyuk in Moscow at a hockey camp.")

What kind of impact do you expect to make on the team immediately?

Я надеюсь, что смогу быстро установить присутствие в лиге с моей физической формой и моими способностями забивать. Я хочу, чтобы игроки знали имя Дмитрия Волосенкова.

("I hope to be able to quickly establish a presence in the league with my physicality along with my scoring ability. I want players to know the name Dimitri Volosenkov.")

It's looking almost certain that you'll be facing Halifax in the first round of the playoffs. Do you feel your team has what it takes to move past them?

("Anything can happen in hockey and I'm coming into a room that has seen success recently. We'll have to wait and see what happens but if we play our game to our strengths I think we could take them. We just have to work hard in the corners and get pucks on net.")

The World Juniors are getting set to start soon and we all have our favorites to come out on top.
I'm gonna focus on some players that I think may be major contributors to their perspective teams, regardless of the clubs outcome. Its all subjective, and I'm mainly writing this shit for the TPE so if you wanna leave comments + or - it's all good.

                                                                                                                                   TEAM WORLD
                                                                                          -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've decided to only write about hockey players that have spent time in the big league so with that said Team World's defence man and my line mate Mountain Thunderfist comes to mind.
His name is fitting as he's big as a mountain and hits hard checking wise and fist wise. MT is a larger poor man's version of Kiaskov but still has a lot if time to improve as he's young. Unfortunately he's not as good looking and loaded with charm and charisma like his diminutive line mate but we'll forgive him on that.
Whatever the outcome for Team World you can expect MT to anchor the blue line defensively and play the physical game he has established himself for throughout the VHL.
                                                                                                                                    TEAM USA
                                                                                            -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well the player that I think may have an impact on Team USA is none other than Ryan Sullivan Jr. He's a big fucker with good size and he can move his ass pretty well on the ice. JR. also has some good offensive and defensive skills to go along with his well rounded game. You can also expect a solid two way game from this guy along with this physical play.
Thus far he's tallied 2 goals and 31 points in 41 games with NYA. Pretty decent numbers so I imagine he'll be on the scoreboard during the tournament. Expect him to be one of the leaders on Team USA.
                                                                                                                                   TEAM ASIA
                                                                                         -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not a lot going on with this club as they'll be hard pressed to go far in the tournament but who knows anything can happen.
Anyhooz my pick for the player to take the reigns and lead the team nowhere fast is Dylan Nguyen. Honorable mention goes to the player with a fuct up first name in Kisshan Shan.
Dylan will be lining up on the first defensive pairing with a player named Bald Guy ( Guess he's bald ).
Nguyen had two point per game seasons in the minors before he was called up. VHL wise he projects to be a solid SAHD with about a 40 points per season. I see him anchoring the blue line with some help from his Reign teammate Shan. In their defence they have a pretty stacked Riga team offensively and defensively so they really haven't been able to showcase what they're capable of. Look for Shan to compliment Nguyen offensively. I think Dylan steps up with Shan right behind and these two will receive a lot of ice time on an already anaemic club.
                                                                                                                               TEAM EUROPE
                                                                                            -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think team Euro and USA will be chasing Canada's tails this tourney and one of the players from Europe who will be leading the charge is 6'4" Lando Baxter who plays with shitty ( Still hatin ) Calgary of the VHL.
On a club that's not doin so well this year, aw who are we kiddin... they fuckin suck right now. Lando is actually playing fairly well. The guy's got a set of wheels for a bigger man and he's pretty solid both on offence and defence as attested by his 31 points in 42 games. He's also at -17 +/- but that also reflects how shitty his team is at the moment. He just needs to be more physical to make his game more affective.
I expect Baxter to step it up in the wjc as he has pro level experience and will bring that to the up n coming games. He should come out as one of the leaders on this Euro club.
                                                                                                                             TEAM CANADA
                                                                                            -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Without a doubt one of the most talented players in this wjc tournament is center Scott Shawinganen. I believe he will be one of the most dominant players in these junior games. Scott has been at a point per game clip since his inaugural season last year, and he's in line for another 70 + point season this year. Don't be surprised if he leads the tourney in points. And with the support and talent this team has behind him, Canada are the favorites to repeat as this years wjc once again.

Exlaxchronicles got a reaction from Nykonax in Here's Lookin At You Dahlberg
Well this writer was bluntly questioned on his choice of player that he thought would step up and take a leadership role with Team Europe. Well this writer stands corrected.
I've equated Dahlberg being on Helsinki for some reason so my bad and apologies go out to @Nykonax and thanks to my fellow Manitoban @Enoramafor pointing out this old fuckers mistake. Ya gotta man up and take responsibility when you fuck up.

Anyways, I needed a VHL article for the TPE so I'll be writing a short piece on a certain player since they feel slighted justifiably so by not being considered or even being chosen as one of the leaders for Team Europe.

We have a solid first year pro in LW Elias Dahlberg. He started off last year and had a terrific inaugural season with my former VHLM club the Ottawa Lynx scoring 57 goals and 61 assists. His parent club felt he was ready for the big time and was brought up to Davis for S64.
Suiting up for HC this year Dahlberg has put up respectable numbers. In 45 games so far he's potted 16 goal and 10 assists. That projects over a full season to 25 goals and 15 assists, which is pretty good considering he is on a struggling club.

Elias seems to have a nose for the net but is also defensively responsible as well. He has one of the higher +/- on a team where most are in the minus category. Dahlberg is one of the better checkers on his club as well. All of his skill should definitely bolster Team Euro and help them be competitive during the up and coming junior games. Look for Elias to be close to a point a game clip in the tournament.

Ordinarily, I would never bother to check or care about the WJC, as I don't care about it at all. However, we apparently get 1 additional tpe if we talk about it in a vhl radio or media spot so I may as well for the tpe. Apparently I made it onto Team USA with Smitty which is nice I suppose. In the WJC predictions I picked team Canada because I would assume a lot of our members are from Canada with it being the biggest hockey market and all. There is a player named  Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVIII who is in the index for some reason so that is cool I guess. Only person with a longer name than Smitty. We also have Athanasios Andrianopoulos on Team Europe, how in the world do you pronounce that name? Also, former Flyers Chris Vandervelde is showing up in the index for some reason. Wow this has been a painful article I really don't care about the WJC at all thanks for the tpe.

Why don't we start an affiliation with the Metroho league like we have with the SHL? That game is decent but struggling for members right now.
We could have some set up similar to what we have here with the SHL. Maybe have members here join and play in the Metro league and earn TPE for doing it and vice versa for the Metro players joining the VHL. We may trickle a few members either way and in the end everybody benefits.

Hey Dill: You gotta crawl before you run man, just like starting off with these.
Anyways, it would've been cool to maybe see a darker border around the whole SIG to frame it off better.
I like  how you have the main player more in focus than the rest of the background.
The over all lighting is good, the colors are richly saturated bit not too much and you have nice contrast with it all.
Font wise its not a bad style at all and I like the color hue with the too font, as it coincides with the rest of the SIG color.
Your bottom font color blend from left to right is a nice touch. What I would have changed somewhat is to try and match your color scheme like the green side more is. two end letters yellow, and fade the sac like you did with the Las. I'm just being a picky prick though.
Overall def not a bad start! Keep em coming!

While as GM I take this as a complement, you may be surprised to learn that Canada is not the all out favorite to win it all. This is purely based on each rosters average TPA.
Lines, tactics, backup goalies and STHS' daily mood can of course effect the outcome of any game.

The WJC are upon us once again and like most years, team Canada is a heavy favourite to take home the gold medal. This would give them 3 straight titles. On paper this is clear, as well as in the sheer number of people that picked Canada to win with a single tpe on the line.

Dan Wilinsky was part of the past two winning teams, playing a bottom 6 role in S62 and the making the tournament all star team in S63.

S64 presents more fresh faces and eager users, hoping their players put on a show, in what is my favourite tournament of all.

Canada will obviously win again. They have the deepest pool of players to choose from by a mile and as they say Canada is hockey and hockey is Canada.

Many of the players who didnt make this edition of Team Canada ended up on Team World. Canada has so much depth, they could likely form two or three teams and finish 1-2.

Maybe this year one of the other nations puts a dent in Canada's armour and takes top spot, but it will merely be a blip in history, and the history of Canadian hockey domination.

Well I can't critique this negatively in any way cuz as they say "Don't bite the hand that feeds ya"..... TPE.
Anyways, this is a fricken beaut. The Tesla style electrical star gate or whatever the hell that is looks pretty cool against a jet black background. Has cool color to it with a softer focus compared to the player and back drop...nice!
Player and two styled font become the center of attention and their placement is in a good position.
I think good lighting, contrast, saturation and hue throughout the whole SIG.
Two style fonts with enough contrast and decent choice of colors make em stand out from the background. It helped with the white border around Wilson to pop against the darker back drop.
A total beaut but I'm only gonna give you 5.75/6 because it wasn't a Kiaskov SIG.
