This took me way too long, I tried to use a render each member used at one point. Please put that on player pages. Inspired by this reddit post I saw earlier.

Pretty interesting that every team has at least one MVP, but I guess it's been almost 20 seasons since the last expansion. TOR/MAL/RIG are the only teams without MVPs in the 16-team era.

The real measure is which teams produced the most first gens selected in the first round / first gens that made the VHL at all.

Enorama reacted to LucyXpher in Running With the Bulls: S92 Roster Primer
On the eve of Season 92, there’s a buzz in Bull land.
An exciting Season 92 VHLM Dispersal Draft in the offseason saw the Bulls picking twice in the 2nd round and twice again in the 3rd round.

With their first selection at 14th overall, the Bulls selected 6’3”, LW, Chris Reynolds Jr. who had 8 points in 18 regular season games for Ottawa of the VHLM last year.  Reynolds Jr. figures to be an important contributor to a Houston team that is coming off of a disappointing playoff exit after a 52 win, 2nd place campaign in 91.

At 18th, the Bulls nabbed the 6 foot, 205 pound RW, Trimiskez Artav.  Artav had an active off season and it really showed in training camp.  His shot and passing ability appear to have improved significantly, and with his scoring acumen being among the best on the team, look for him to factor into the Houston offence on a nightly basis.

In the 3rd round, at 22nd overall, the Bulls pulled 6’1”, LW, Miner VHLer.  There’s not much tape on this guy, but the Bulls will hope that he was worth the 3rd round selection.

Finally, with the 25th pick, Houston would select 5’5”, 180 pound goaltender, Herald Benson. With his pedigree, he’ll likely have the Houston net to start the season, but don’t be surprised if free agent addition, Ondrej Vencko, gives him a run for his money as the season progresses.

In a breaking story that made waves earlier today, an elderly Czech man was arrested outside the Bulls’ arena. The man was found to be in possession of a one (1) pound bag of crystal clear methamphetamine.  When asked if he had any connection to the man, Vencko, also a native of Czechia, responded, “I don’t care about drugs.”

At 5’10”, 187 pounds, Ondrej— or Ondra as he likes to be called— doesn’t posses a big frame for a goaltender, but what he lacks in size, he makes up for with his apparent apathy towards drugs.

The end of the 91 season, of course, saw the departure of a few key players.  The scoring outputs of both Luna Everdeen and Keegan Vos will be especially missed as the duo combined for 62 goals and 131 points in Season 91.

The most significant loss, however, is likely to be that of goaltender, Pipo Popa, who had a franchise record breaking season with 22 shutouts, a .933 save percentage, and a 1.44 GAA, taking home VHLM MVP honors in the process.  Those skates will be incredibly huge ones to fill for Houston’s two new young backstops.

For the 92 campaign, Bulls General Manager, AJW, signed a swath of new free agent talent, including the aforementioned Vencko, who remains adamant that he does not care about drugs.

At defence, notable newcomers include the towering, 6’6”, Charles Losfeld, 6’4” stalwart, Cody Toland, and the 5’8”, smooth-skating, Lucy Leitner, a native Houstonian.

At forward, the Bulls added a pair of Nathans, Ecker and Schwartz, who both look to add to the Houston scoring lines with potent offensive skills.  Dylan Boland at RW also boasts a good release and scoring touch.  Deez Nutz, however, remains an unknown quantity, and I still haven’t heard back from my European source on what Czech sniper, Filip Zinek, thinks about drugs— if he thinks about them at all, that is.

To top it all off, just hours before opening night of Season 92, General Manager, @AJW, announced the hiring of @Nathan_8 as Assistant General Manager.  This is a move that has been well received by the players and community alike as the team looks forward to the next chapter in its history and building toward a VHLM championship.

Time will tell if this team can replicate the success it had last season, but for now, Bulls hockey is back and there’s never been a better time to get on board!

Enorama reacted to JCarson in Goings on in the league, or so I am told
As I sit writing this article the rain falls relentlessly outside my small basement window. That comment is irrelevant to what I would like to discuss but I thought I would set the mood and practice some of my descriptive writing ability.

For the most part I am clueless to the goings on in the league. Yet I have heard it said that a VHL advertisement was released sometime recently (on one or another social media platform that isn’t Facebook) and that we have had an influx of people join. I guess on the surface that is a good thing. More people should mean more fun. I briefly ponder what it is like to be a new person in the league without a natural connection. Being referred to the league by my son, I always had a natural place to reach out to when i had questions. That allowed for my learning curve to be shorter, or so i expect.
I wonder what these people think, how they get connected, how they even come to terms with this thing called the VHL. Time will tell how many of our new players stick around, how many just leave.

If you are reading this and are one of the new people, welcome here. Enjoy yourself and have fun.

To give people a little more context, Iseult actually started ALL 72 games in S63, so the Meute owed 8 backup starts. This should have been made up in playoffs by our current rules, where they won the wildcard round but were trounced in 5 games by Riga in semis. However, Iseult played all 7 games there as well. Their punishment therefore should have been levied in the following season but I honestly don't think they were punished at all. Rather, this was used as a good time to formalize what these punishments would be going forward.

Then Beaviss went and played Iseult too many games once again in S64, this time only 67, so 3 starts over the limit. This punishment was properly applied, with Iseult benched for the wildcard series. Iseult played 0 total minutes as the Meute were swept 2-0 in the series.

Arthur here was unhappy about this, and got mad at the league for enforcing the rule rather than the GM for slipping up and missing a total of 11 backup starts across two seasons. Fun little popcorn read in the linked thread.

Enorama reacted to Mutti in Ondrej Vencko's biography
Born in 2001, in a small town in the north of the Czech Republic, Ondrej (or Ondra, informally) was always looking for something to spice his days up. Although he loved watching hockey on TV with his dad, he never really showed any interest in the sport, until the year 2016 came along.

On his 15th birthday, during the match of the local hockey beer league, he broke into the locker of the home team, stealing goalie's kit. The match was about to start, so he quickly hid himself outside in the bush, while the home team sent their actual goalie for a new kit. Ondra, being a joker, went back inside and put the stolen gear on. That's when the rest of the team noticed him.
However, because he was looking ready for action, they just rushed him to the rink.

There was no turning back. Blood was flowing. Ondrej remembered the passionate evenings in front of the television hockey and thought to himself: "It is time to shine."
And shine he did. The end result was 11:0.. For the away team.
After the birthday fiasco, he realised that he was actually having a lot of fun, being a goaltender. Thus, the journey for becoming the greatest goalie in the village began!

The training began right in the following winter, when Ondra found a frozen pond for him and a few of hockey enthusiasts to play on. It went really well, Ondra even making some saves this time!
That was until the third period came along and his team was forced to pull him out for an extra man. He skated to the side, when he noticed a breakaway from the other team. Unluckily, the ice on the pond cracked..
Even though he did not make the save, he set the village record for the fastest swimming hockey goaltender. (Still unbeaten to this day.)
From this, he worked hard and practised as much as he could to finally get to the Czech national league. He was 20 at the time he joined the Prague Mic Czechs.

His first season surprised everyone around him, as not only that he helped his team to get to the top of the league, he also recorded 6 shutouts, .913 save percentage, 2.1 GAA and scored 1 goal. This caught the attention of scouts from the NHL, who instantly offered him to play "across the pond". Sadly, as everything seemed perfect, his team lost in the first round of the play-offs, making scouts question his abilities.
    However..
In the next season, after summer full of practising and hangovers caused by first round exit, he and his team came back with a vengeance.
Mic Czechs dominated the league once again, and even though Ondra hasn't scored any goals, he stood on his head. Recording 6 shutouts, .920 save percentage and 1.9 GAA, he and the team stormed the play-offs, winning the National cup. This interested the scouts from the NHL again, now confirming to them that they want this player in their league. They ensured him that he would receive a special invitation via letter to be officialy able to join the league across the ocean. Unfortunately, the person in charge of writing the letter made a typo in Ondra's surname, when they wrote "Plecko" instead of "Vencko" (which is up to this day super hilarious for Czech inhabitants). Ondra never received his long-awaited letter.

But every cloud has a silver lining and this story ended up the best way possible. Because while some, who don't know the wonders of the internet, consider the NHL to be the best hockey league in the world, Ondra found himself the perfect and in every way better alternative.
    The VHL.
He quickly showed his interest in joining the league and before you knew it, he was offered a contract by Houston Bulls, where he will play his first (and hopefully not last) season. Some might think that a Czech boy would find some other cities more appealing, but to that he says with a smile:
    "Houston, we got no problem!"

Alongside with hockey career, Ondra also aims to make an impact in the world of music.
He has been playing the bass guitar for over 4 years now and tries to experiment when composing his own songs. Ondra has a broad range of music taste, ranging from metal to pop, from rock to jazz, from classical to electronic music. He also occasionally plays live with his band Take Cover!, playing cover versions of well-known songs. The biggest gig he experienced took place in August of 2018.

They were playing at the annual ball of his hometown's hockey club, with many people in the crowd being passionate fans of various NHL teams. The gig was going well, but then the guitarist began playing Slapshot, which woke up all the New York Rangers fans. They immediately formed a moshpit, right next to a long isle of the other New York team fans. After a few minutes of mind-numbing riff repeating, one guy tripped with his shot of vodka right onto a table with a lit up candle. This created a fireball, which made New Jersey Devils' fans go nuts. Fire caused a smaller chandelier to fall down. One guy, an Oilers' fan, braced himself and shouted: "I am a goalie, I'll catch it.", and then proceeded to not catch it at all. A Toronto Maple Leafs' fan appeared, and said that he would throw a fire extinguisher to the people nearest to the fireball. It wasn't necesarilly a difficult throw to be made, but the guy managed to miss anyway. Extinguisher dropped on the floor and exploded, taking the fire out in the process. But at the same time, it covered half of the place in white foam. This encouraged Jets' and Coyotes' fans to fanatically spin their white T-shirts, which led to two of them having a heated argument, whose tradition it TRULY is. In the end, Ondra looked to the drummer to save the day and to play something that would calm the situation. Unfortunately, drummer proceeded to play Chelsea Dagger, which turned the whole crowd hostile after just a few of the "Ta-da-das". One Blackhawks' fan in the crowd did not fight for his tune, because, as Ondra and his bandmates later discovered, he did not want any spotlight on him, as he was trying to hide some dirty secret.

From that day, Ondra focused mainly on composing his own music, with playing covers of songs, that won't turn any hockey fan nuts.

Right now, though, he is focused on the VHL the most, with a long and hopefully successful career planned. And just like bass player holds the low end of the band, he aims at holding the back of the rink and keep all the pucks of the other team away from his net.

So, slap those slapshots away, hockey bassist!

Enorama reacted to UghSike in He Made it Out of the Ghetto
Born in the bowels of New Jersey, UghSike was introduced to hockey at a very young age. He would spend a lot of time with his uncle, who, unfortunately, was a Philadelphia Flyers fan. There wasn't a very strong hockey presence locally, but there was a pond where, if you weren't poor, and owned ice skates, you could play pick-up games in the winter. Luckily, the water wasn't too deep because most player's who owned skates were eager to play on ice. Eager to the point where they didn't care if it was solid enough or safe enough. Also, more accessible to players with feet and a stick, there was an inline/foot court. This is where most games took place. Even in the dead heat of the summer, sweaty mudflap mullets would glisten and drip in the sun as the locals gathered for a pick up game in the blistering heat.Imagine the level of dedication that goes into wearing jeans and work boots just to play hockey in the summer. I mean, these folks weren't skilled by any means. But they had one thing that really mattered. Passion! Couple that passion with a 12-pack of Natural Ice and there's no telling what can happen! Of course, none of these die-hard hockey enthusiasts ever made it to the "Big Show". Nope. Most of them ended up working in factories, on farms, or in rehab. Except for one.....

UghSike would only have to walk 2 blocks away to get to the local park and watch the hillbillies play hockey the best they could. Most of these players were missing teeth like a stereotypical ice hockey player, but it wasn't from taking pucks and punches to the face as much as it was from a lack of dental care. Of course, there were other athletic options at the park. Tennis, Basketball, Fishing, and Horseshoe's to name a few, but hockey was the sport that spoke to UghSike. He enjoyed the fast pace of the game most of all. Mullets flapped in the breeze as players ran as fast as they could in work boots, clumsily shooting a street hockey ball with such inaccuracies that they'd oftentimes end up in the pond behind the rink.

On his 8th birthday, UghSike received his first hockey stick. It was one of those coveted Mylec sticks with the blade fastened to the shaft with a single screw. He couldn't wait to join the action! Teams were reluctant to let him play. His stick was usually the last to be picked from the pile during pick-ups. He assumed it was because he wasn't drunk enough to be skillful at the local level. Nevertheless, he gave it his all whenever he was lucky enough to touch the ball. Most of the time he would hope nobody was at the rink. That way he had a chance to work on his stick-handling skills without someone taking the ball from him only to blast it over the fence and into the pond. This continued for the next few years until the city tore down the rink. Something had to be done! UghSike would be lost without the ability to play hockey. This was when he invented "Ghetto Hockey.". No nets, no pads, no rink. Just him and his brother and their friends in the basement. The goalie wearing an oven mitt as a catcher with a broom for a stick. Making pucks out of rolls of electrical tape or crushed tin cans. Not many will experience this level of elite hockey, and UghSike was full of gratitude to have been a part of it. His "Ghetto Hockey" career would continue for another 5 seasons until there was a new inline rink built in the next town over. There was also an ice rink now, but it's been turned into a chicken processing plant because the city couldn't keep up with the water bill. The outdoor rink wasn't maintained very well so people stopped going there. There were cracks in the surface with tall weeds growing out of them, the runners were coming loose from the boards, along with many other issues. I think one of the goals and the bleachers were stolen by crackheads for scrap metal. However, this wasn't the end for UghSike. He found another rink underneath of an overpass in the big city. They accepted all kinds. Players on foot, players on roller blades, players on roller skates, and even a couple of rare and elusive players on those push scooters. Just recently, he found his way out of the 'hood and into a bright future in the VHL. He's stated in a rare interview that he's "Looking forward to gaining as much TPE as possible and making an impact in the league.". Let's wish him luck. He finally made it out of the ghetto!

Annie is raring and ready to go!

Mere days from the start of a new VHLM season toady we're taking a quick look at the defending league champ Saskatoon Wild and one of their new Acquisitions and their outlook on their first year in the league. Annie Oaks the right winger from Great Britain beyond the pond will be joining Saskatoon as they look to defend their league title. We managed to catch up with Annie and asked a few questions, responding to whether or not playing in western Canada would be daunting or nerve wracking Annie had this to say.

"Well, it's not my first time this side of Pacific, I played many years here in Vancouver so I kind of have a good idea of what the fans will be like. Hockey in Canada is like nothing else and the fans live and die with their team, I'm hoping to live up to their expectations."

Well it's good to know that you are prepared for hockey in Canada, you've had a couple great years over in the EIHL, do you think you can replicate that success in VHML?

"I'd like too, but this is a league with some of the best up and coming talent from around the world. I'm tempering my expectations but i'm going to leave it all out there on the ice, it's what the fans expect and what they deserve."

The fans do love it when a player leaves it all out there, now we wanted to ask is there a reason you chose Saskatoon did you receive any other offers?

"They were the first team to reach out to me and I jumped on the oppurtunity to play in western Canada again. Not to mention I thought I might get a chance at some good minutes seeing the roster turnover, and i'll get to play with a few returning cup winners like Leo Neelson III, Crazy Tomato, and Sylvia Davis."

Speaking of playing time, are you expecting to be given first line minutes going into your first year here in Saskatoon?

"No I don't expect anything to be given to me, I'm going to work for anything I can get and be grateful for it. At this level no one is given anything for free you have to earn every second on the ice, if you're not on the coach should go with someone who is, simple as that."

Okay, you've definetly got the acumen of someone who's used to answering questions from the media. Thanks so much for giving us this chance to talk to you and the Saskatoon fans a chance to hear from you ahead of the season, we'd like to wish you the best of luck in your freshman year Annie.

"Thanks, and I look forward to playing in front of the Wonderful fans in Saskatoon this year. Let's get Wild out there!"

And that was the brief conversation we were able to have with one of Saskatoons newest faces, how will Annie Oaks fare in her debut season against the best young talent around, We can't wait to see.

Good evening all, pulling a real NHL here by dropping some news on you guys on a Friday night.

After some conversations over the past few days, @Gaming Ringleader has elected to step down as GM of the Oslo Storm, effective immediately. I want to extend our sincerest gratitude to Gaming for his time with both the Storm and the Iron Eagles and for piloting the two franchises through a tumultuous part of VHLE history. I don't believe he's going anywhere in the grand scheme of things, so I look forward to seeing what he does next!

With the timing of this being awkward and the team needing a direction going into the season ASAP, we did not post for the role and instead asked around for someone I already knew was interested. He should be a familiar face to you all!

You may notice the second half of the title and a conspicuously missing job posting. I ran through this off-season (mostly) solo with some help from Thad and commissioners in the other leagues. Since the league has dropped to 6 teams, I can comfortably manage that ratio (GMs only outnumber me 6 to 1!) so for at least the next season or two, I will be at the helm alone. Sorry to disappoint those of you out there who I know were aching for a leadership opportunity!
