  1. Also @Victor I was thinking of adding a "HOF Articles" section here https://vhlportal.com/hof/ and moving inducted players/builders inside that, along with whatever other categories of articles (like the 20s in 20s, ect) we want which could be displayed in the same manner as the player and builder articles?

Could even support just external links if we wanted to summarize all the spreadsheets and stuff that are floating around in a section.

Also also: I've fixed the award things.

Nah my comment above still stands. I don’t see how VHL gets any benefit from it, I’m not sure we even have any primary-VHL members that would qualify?

STZ has traditionally made those images for us.

He has but I haven't had any luck getting him too do the other ones I was looking for.. can you check for the re-create that you did? I can't tell which ones you made so must be pretty close

@Victor I'll fix the spacing and make team/abbreviation optional.

  4. Season 75 VHL Draft Lottery

    Date: Friday, October 30th, 2020

    Time: NOW!

Welcome to the S75 VHL Draft Lottery, the only thing more anticipated than the US election.

If you need a refresher on the draft lottery rules:

    Spoiler

The first six picks of the first round of the VHL Entry Draft work on a lottery structure. For the purposes of Standings, non-playoff teams will rank 11-16, regardless of Regular Season points earned (i.e. If Toronto finishes in 6th place in the North American conference, but had more points than two European conference Playoff teams, they will be considered 11th Place in the standings, despite finishing with the 9th most points in the league, overall).

The odds for winning the lottery are based on the VHL's regular season standings, and begin as follows, though they may change following the Draft Lottery Tournament, as outlined in Section 9.2:

    • 16th Place: 30.0%
    • 15th Place: 22.5%
    • 14th Place: 17.5%
    • 13th Place: 12.5%
    • 12th Place: 10.0%
    • 11th Place: 7.5%

Only non-Playoff teams are eligible for the Draft Lottery. The maximum spots a team can move down is 1 spot. If the result of the lottery still allows teams to move down a maximum of one spot, there will be additional lotteries until teams may no longer move down.

*An additional reminder that, should any subsequent lotteries be needed after 1st Overall has been decided, the odds will change depending on the winning team

i.e. Should a team with 10% odds of winning the lottery win 1st Overall, their "tickets" will be removed from the lottery and the following lottery will be conducted as odds of x/90, rather than x/100.

Onto the odds for the Season 74 Draft Lottery. At the conclusion of the Regular Season, prior to the Lottery Tournament, the odds began as:

    Spoiler

    :ldn: London: 30.0%

    :la:Los Angelas: 22.5%

    :nya: New York: 12.5%

    :chi: Chicago: 10.0%

    :dav: HC Davos: 7.5%

With the conclusion of the inaugural Draft Lottery Tournament, congratulations (or condolences) to Warsaw for winning said tournament, the final Draft Lottery Odds are as follows:

  5. Meh I don't love the idea of adding more complications for a small group of people

This really kinda comes off like something that would make his life easier as opposed to something that would actually benefit the 3 leagues, to be honest

  6. Players

    • Added WC/WCJ statistics and separated stats into new tabs
    • Slight display modifications

    Stats

    • Expanded the Portal's stats databases to include:
      • World Juniors player, goalie and team statistics from inception to now
      • World Cup player, goalie and team statistics from S60 to now
      • VHL player and goalie statistics from S1 to S48
    • I'd like to thank and give a shoutout to @Corco  for compiling the S1-48 VHL stats (and apologies it took so long to add)

    HOF

    • Career Statistics and Single Season Records now have additional filtering options that enable both custom season ranges and switching between all four leagues (VHL/VHLM/WC/WCJ)
    • General cleanup of all HOF areas
    • Improvements to the admin side of Award's

    Fixes

    • Fixed an issue where the player search list was barely visible

So at best it makes people spend 155 extra TPE and get hit by depreciation a tad more and at worst it makes everyone’s stats go down and hurts the average member who needs that TPE for other stuff. The whores will still be able to afford it, the average guys won’t. Rich get richer and everyone else’s stats go down because they play fewer minutes.

TBF the EN points would have to come from somewhere for every player..i still go back to everyone being on the same update scale. IMO the only way it would directly disadvantage low-mid level earners is if there were a bunch of high earners that could pump EN with no opportunity cost elsewhere.

BUT - my caution would be that EN has always been effectively disabled. There would need to be a lot of testing to see how it would actually impact everything because we have no idea.

    Straight from the STHS handbook.

It does not impact ice time. Only stats when "fatigued". Which results in more variance in games.

To my above point and like i said in discord...i always take the manual with a grain of salt. We'd need realistic testing

the trade could even be sent weeks earlier by a team, to be accepted by the other on the specific day. It's not that hard

I'm not sure it really matters but we could have trade offers expire if they aren't accepted/declined within 24h or something

  9. 1 hour ago, Beaviss said:

@BOG @Commissioner @Admin Anyone object to the twitter feed idea / VSN trade rumor ideas and reducing the cap hit by 10% on trade deadline day?

Only thing, I still think the extra cap reduction on a single day is inevitably going to lead to some issues. There's a reason the lowest threshold was never only on deadline day, you'll have GM's messaging the commish's every season with conflicts and wanting to setup trades before-hand to be executed on that day, ect ect

So I'd say if you go this route, you need to make clear to the GMs how that'll be handled

Fast forward to September 2014 and we come across another staple of the Victatorship - constant and of course deserved slander of the SHL. In this case, it appears that an SHLer was hired as grader here and did a terrible job of grading the work of a fellow SHLer. In the days where I would have been reading every single new post on the forum, I swooped in before the head grader - possibly Squinty then or maybe flyersfan - and overruled with the snarky comment above. Enter a very young Will (Will as grader!) and justice is restored with a nice 8 TPE in the bank for Okranitz.

And that my friends is why I nuked grading some years later

  11. A new theme is available for the VHL Forum. We've been working on getting it ready since the forum update the other day.

Those of you who frequent the SBA forums will find it familiar. We of course checked with the admin team over at the SBA before going ahead with it and we appreciate them giving us the OK to use it as well - it's easily one of the best themes available at the moment and as a plus, some added familiarity across the two communities can only benefit the affiliation.

Key features of this theme is the ability to seamlessly switch between dark/light mode and the ability to customize some colors to your liking. You can do both of these things using the icons at the top of the page (or right below the banner on mobile). This'll be the default theme going forward but Black VHL will still be available.

If you come across any odd colors or anything just let me know here

These are not bad, but I still fail to see the issue with the current logo. I don't understand why Esso pushes so hard for a change.

I can't help but agree, I have some hesitation about accepting re-locations/re-branding just for the sake of it. Feel like it could lead to situation where GMs start feeling like doing a re-branding is some critical part of their tenure to leave their mark. When we did the last NYA logo change, the old NY logo was easily one of our weakest logos. I don't think I'd say that about the current one and even then, I'm not sure this one is better.

I also agree with DAAD on the baseball vibes

Sweet. Next step is to have some sort of STHS Client web app to set lines directly on the portal.

There's an STHS web client for lines but last time I tried it, it didn't work very well at all. Unfortunately building our own isn't possible due to how STHS handles lines.
