Sure there's a lot of people that probably didn't actually care that much that are doing these public shows of respect etc that are insincere and sure it can be a bit strange that hardly anybody mourns events like the Iran plane crash but simple fact is that people will only and in most cases can only mourn the people that they know or had a connection with. For every Instagram account that spams a Kobe Memorial post there's kids, teenagers and adults who've spent a fair amount of their life watching Kobe and idolising the guy for his success, work ethic etc.

Didn't really follow much about the VHL last season but I think DC has made some really big improvements in the off-season Maybe Davos, I hear they've has some troubles recently. How could I say any team apart from DC, we're hungry, we've got the drive and ability to get to the playoffs and make some noise. Vancouver would be my pick otherwise. MexicanCow would be my pick, he was great as the AGM in San Diego and deserves a chances to step up and take control of his own team. Snatch, great comedy about London gangsters that everyone should watch. Honestly no idea really.

GM 8: Mexico City Kings vs. San Diego Marlins

Dunno who Roque Davis is but dayum son. -
Position: :RW Height: 6'1 Weight: 146 lbs Age: 21 Born in Portsmouth, UK, Ritchie was exposed to hockey in his late teens when The UK hosted the S62 WJC as part of the government's new initiative to start building a stronger hockey culture in the Island nation that's sport landscape has been historically dominated by larger sports suchs as Football, Rugby and Cricket amongst others. This was Ritchie's first chance to watch games as they were on at a time where he was awake, he was instantly enthralled by the sport, watching electric scorers like Leph Twinger and free flowing playmakers such as Dylan Nyugen and Maxim Kovalchuk. Though, the player that made the biggest impact on his was the star Sergei Kovalev, his laser focus on offense and sheer ability to put the puck in the net was amazing to the young Brit. Routinely during the tournament he would watch a game and head to the local rink with his brothers to try and reenact key plays from the game. Where he would smash slapshots with all the force his tiny frame could muster until he could barely lift his stick anymore. Initially he started playing for his school team, though many other schools still had no Hockey teams, often resulting in long coach or train journeys to play away games. Wicked initially was slotter in as a goaltender due to his slight frame but after convincing the coach to let him play out as a forward he never looked back. He selected his college based on the hockey team and with the relative lack of interested players, he was selected for the team, again, despite his poor physicality. As time went by though the team and the coach began to understand the value that Ritchie brought to the game, he had a natural understanding of when to position both himself and teammates, and was often the first player to understand the various offensive schemes and tactics the coach introduced. Before long he was chosen by his team mates as the captain, his voice the loudest on the ice like a field general marshalling his troops. Though the team failed to win any silverware in his time in the college, Ritchie begane to make a name for himself for his intensity and drive. His coach started to give him film to watch from the VHLM, with key matches from recent seasons Raleigh had his hopes high to join one of these esteemed programs. Though due to visa issues Ritchie missed the deadline to decalre himself for the S67 VHLM draft, though this did have the benefit of allowing him the choice fo teams for his debut season. Ritchie received a healthy amount of offers from almost every team and his few fans from home eagerly follow his twitter feed over the weeks of the off-season This was in large part thanks to signing with a reputable agency with multiple ties in the basketball world. After a few weeks of careful deliberation Ritchie made his final commitment, to the Minnesota Storm. He explained his choice was for both hockey and personal reasons, the fit in Minnesota seemed perfect, they were looking for fresh blood to revitalise the team, they had talent from some of the very top agencies in the sporting world joining as freshmen as well. This meant there was a foundation for something really special to be built in the small city in the north. Ritchie was always more at home in the cold and the prospect of Minnesota was more appealing to his than it might be to others. His first season however was anything but a success, after an a promising initial start Ritchie was plagued with injuries, he suffered a ACL sprain in his 4th game that sidelines him for a few weeks and then after returning from rehab a illegal tackle by an opponent resulted in a broken collarbone. Not to be so easily dissuaded from his dream Ritchie resumed rehab and came back near the tail end of the season and put together a few great game, netting his first goal for the storm and things were looking up. However Ritchie poor luck came back in no shortage, A freak accident led to Ritchie colliding head on into the board at high speed. The crumpled form of the young forward was stretched off the ice motionless as a solemn mood engulfed the stadium. Ritchie suffered extensive trauma to his head and neck and was put into the ICU and an medically induced coma. Fans and players alike around the league sent messages of support to his family and the team as his future was uncertain at best. News was sparse over the next few weeks as developments were slow, eventually after 4 weeks, the medical staff at Abbot Northwestern deemed it safe to wake his back up. Fans rejoiced but all was not entirely well. Doctors informed Ritchie that his head injuries have the possibility of affecting his motor functions and a full recovery, while possible, was by no means likely. Ritchie rehab was a long process, the Storm paid for his medical expenses but as he was only on a 1 year pre-draft contract, his future in hockey had no concrete foundation. Ritchie journey in physical therapy produced slow results and the season came to an end with him still yet to lace up any skates. Over the summer though posts from fans around the Minnesota area revealed some videos of Ritchie at the Storms training facility, tentatively skating around the rink. The off-season began and Ritchie's name largely dropped off the map in the approach to the S68 draft, Raleigh himself had given up all hope of being selecting in the draft and was preparing himself for his second course of physio therapy, this time on his own money. He didn't even tune in to the live draft and was at his local gym when his phone buzzed, a message from the Prague Phantoms GM asking if he was ready for the VHL. His breath caught in Ritchie's throat as he sat down on the bench. His mind raced, but he could still feel the shakiness in his bones, the weakness of muscles that still suffered. "I'm not ready, sorry" he replied. How could he even think he was ready for that when he struggled to run a 5k sometimes. His phone buzzed again, this time a message from the DC Dragons GM, Ritchie stopped and took a deep breath, he took stock of his surroundings. "What have I got to lose here, it's a chance that might not come back around, if I get injured again I might never be in this position." Raleigh steeled his nerve and this time the answer was yes. He turned on the nearest TV and heard the sweetest words he thought he'd never hear. "With the 61st pick in the S68 VHL Draft, The DC Dragons select Raleigh Ritchie" Though saying that, there was still a long road ahead, he wasn't called up yet, still being a incredibly raw prospect. The Dispersal draft saw him taken late by the San Diego Marlins and Ritchie's troubled journey was back on track, it was never going to be an easy road and he was far behind his peers but the only way was up. His VHL dream was alive. mentions @diamond_ace @Enorama

Ritchie Final VHLM Press conference
DangerGolding replied to DangerGolding's topic in Player Press Conferences
I think it shows my work ethic and willingness to constantly improve despite the circumstances. Some other players might have more natural ability or media recognition but I'm confident in my ability to produce for DC in the big league. I think my agent has done a good job so far, he's secured me a lucrative contract with the Dragons and even managed to negotiate some extra bonus to aid in my development. The ability to have the business side of the sport all sorted out lets me produce more on the ice. I think I've done especially well in clutch situations and on the big stage, 12 game winners in my VHLM career along with my fair share of goals in the playoffs including a hat trick. Working on consistent scoring and also on my defensive skills is the next step on my journey to being a quality player. I think the goal of everyone on the team is our first playoff appearance in S70, the GM has made smart moves to bring in more talent and fill out the roster with hard working guys. An expansion team is always going to go through growing pains but I think we're well on out way to becoming a contender and a a playoff staple here. Bit late for this question now I guess haha. It's hard to say really, obviously on ice it's got to be Steve @stevo but in regards to best bud it's probabably with the GM and the AGM, they've been a great help to me in my time there and a lot of the credit from my performances goes to them. @InstantRockstar @MexicanCow123. Moving to DC and getting to properly meet my new team mates as well as getting to explore the new facilities that the Dragons have, obviously it's a fresh new stadium with newly built training facilities and I hear there's some exciting new tech in there so that should be exciting. -

Nabbed 4 goals in 3 games, not bad especially from the 4th line. Tallinder though, holy fuck.

The DC Dragons recently called up their S68 61st pick who has been stashed away in San Diego for a couple of season. Ritchie has made a bit of a name of himself in his two seasons in the minor league, with 45 goals and 40 assists in season S68 and then 41 and 35 goals in season 69. This form clearly was enough to impress the Dragons GM who, after the post season, gave the go ahead to bring Ritchie over to the capital. Our reporters found time to grab a quick interview with the DC's most recent call up to the major league as he arrived to the Dragons training arena. Hi Raleigh, what was your initial reaction to the call from DC? Well it was a big shock initially, I knew I'd been doing pretty well in the minors and showing some good growth but it was still a surprise to get that actual confirmation that I'd be playing in the VHL next season. The GM said some really nice things about my play in the playoffs and I really look forward to getting to know the guys around the team more now that I'll be here full time. What will your role be in DC? Well it looks like I'll be on the second lines this season which suits me well, I get time to adapt to the faster pace of the VHL without being chucked in at the deep end and I'll get to learn a lot behind some of the best wings in the game in Aaltonen and Frostbeard. Hopefully I'll get chance to pop some goals in and being paired with some great playmakers again will be nice as last season that was something that the Marlins were somewhat lacking in. Thanks Raleigh, Good luck on your first season. Thanks guys.

Well Cile @Savoire Faire could be the next great draft steal by DC, to follow in my footsteps. He's a great member in other leagues and if he can get into the flow of the VHL I'm sure he'll be making some big waves in the VHLM this season. 50/50, because we either do, or we don't. In all seriousness it's hard to tell this early in the off-season, there could still be significant shakeups in the near future for any team which could drastically effect the Dragon's playoff odds. With the group of talent we've got on the ice now though I think we've got real hope of a first post-season appearance, mainly because I'm on the team now of course and I've never missed the playoffs before. I'd love to say @FrostBeard but of course where would I be if I didn't back myself, I'm sure frostbeard will have a great season but I think I'm going to be turning more than a few heads this season. All to me of course. I need more Lamborghinis in my Lamborghini account, more bookshelves in my bookshelves account, and more knawledge. How else could I drive up here in the Hollywood Hills A Racoon, so we can send all the trash players like @Aye my name jeff. Dessert, some fresh profiteroles are top notch. Or some Ben and Jerry's cookie dough ice cream, can't go wrong there. Or a homemade apple and blackberry crumble with custard, that's the good shit right there.

We should add a D from Free agency because as well all know, defence wins championships and that's going to be the goal going forward for this team. Then we should add an F from the draft so I have a fellow new guy to share some minutes with. I think there's a legitimate argument for either of them to go first overall, anyone who follows the VHLM will know that both of these guys are as sure a star pick as you can get in the draft and whoever ends up getting them will be ecstatic with either one. I think both Alex Bridges @Alex Bridge and JaredN @jared are both great talents after having player alongside them during this past season in the VHLM, they've got a long road ahead of them but I expect them to be great value for their pick lower down in the order. Some old space invaders game in the PC in probably 2005ish, I used to play the two-player mode sitting on my mum's lap on the family PC. Probably metal, each to their own i guess but it just isn't my cup of tea. DOGS! but I do like cats as well.

The final buzzer sounds, the Mexico Kings win the series 4-1 over the San Diego Marlins and a chapter of a hockey career comes to an end. Ritchie has played his last game in the VHLM, and the last game for his beloved Marlins. The team that picked up an injured player, cut from his last team and gave him the chance to become a star, a leader and more that anything, a Marlin. A chapter that for some top prospects lasts a mere one or two seasons, this marked Ritchie's third in the league. Signing for Minnesota, suffering a almost career ending injury, getting a late by DC and San Diego and rehabbing to become one of the focal points of a promising young offense, it's certainly been a journey for the young forward from the UK. In an emotional interview post-game Ritchie gave his thoughts: "It's a been a pleasure to play here, for the GM, the coach, the players and especially the fans. There's nowhere else I could see myself becoming the player I am now. It's in the face of adversity that this game teaches you what you're made of and by god I've had my fair share of that. From a roster without a goaltender at the start of S68, to that amazing second half of the season to make the playoffs, then bringing it to a really top team in Mississauga. Then the trades this season and the bumper crop of new talents, it's had it's ups and downs but I wouldn't change a thing." "Thanks you San Diego!" he shouts to the crowd as team captain Roadkill Steve leads Ritchie on a lap of honour. The two forwards have played almost 150 games together and been the backbone of the Marlins in the past two years, now though their paths diverge, Ritchie moving on to the Dragons who drafted him with the 61st pick in the S68 draft while Steve plans to continue to rack up an unassailable record as the Marlins star scorer. Ritchie leaves San Diego 2nd in points scored (161) and 2nd in goals (86) in his 144 games played. behind only Roadkill Steve of course. Only time will tell what awaits Ritchie in the VHL as he'll likely become a depth piece for the DC Dragons who have struggled to gain a footing in their first couple of seasons in the league, though with up and coming stars like former Las Vegas star Benny Graves, George Washington and Luciano Valentino along with others, the Dragons are poised for a bright future.
