fonziGG got a reaction from K1NG LINUS in Michael Johnson's first glimpse of VHLM Hockey
Wednesday Night VHLM game between Saskatoon Wild and the Halifax 21st was a fierce battle. In the first period, the Saskatoon Wild’s Hayden Clarkson scored in the 14th minute, assisted by Anthony Amberback and Kip Baier. The second period however was very back and forth between the two teams, goals from Tormund Giantsbane, Rocky LaGarza and Nethila Dissanayake for the Wild whereas goals from Van Lagen and Gaudette  to return. However the score was 4-2 and Halifax goalie, Thorvald Gunnarsson had 10 saves from 14 shots and was changed to Michael Johnson at the 4 minute mark for the second period.

Michael Johnson came into the match and changed the game completely with 13 saves from 13 shots. Nacho from Halifax scored the lone goal in the third and while Halifax still lost this game, the change in goalie looked to have inspired the team on. Although it was not enough. Both teams are doing great, with Saskatoon leading the league with Philidelphia whereas Halifax is 5th.

Concerningly good effort from Johnson once Gunnarsson was pulled. Good game for both teams.

Excerpt taken from the Sports Column in today's issue of the Pottsville Inquirer.

If you have 32 hours to spare and don't mind driving about 2000 miles, you should take I-80W to I-94W, well past the Canadian border, and you will find yourself in the province of Saskatchewan. Keep going, and almost dead center in said province, you'll happen upon the sprawling city of Saskatoon. If you were so inclined to take this trek today, you'd land in the middle of said city in the middle of said province and find it buzzing with excitement and energy. The Saskatoon Wild are set to start their regular season contests tomorrow, and there is a lot to be excited about for Wild fans. But for now you may be asking yourself what does any of this matter to citizens of Pottsville, Pennsylvania? For those not in the know, the Saskatoon Wild are a team playing ice hockey in the VHLM, and our very own Juan Jaundice is their starting goalie. Yes, you've read that right. Juan has just capped off his first season in the VHLM and is set to begin his second tomorrow. On top of that, we've received word via Juan's family that he has been drafted by the newest VHL expansion team: The Malmo Nighthawks. This is very exciting news, and the young goaltender's mother, Janice, had this to say:

"Since the day Juan started taking hockey seriously that summer, we knew he'd be destined for something great. If we're being honest, he's never been the brightest bulb in the drawer. None of us are, really. But Juan? He works hard. I always told him, I'd say: 'Juan! Get that nose to the grind or I'll tan your behind!' and now it's paying off for him! Oooh, I'm just so proud of him! He is working so very hard and we know that this year, he's going to prove to himself that he belongs in the Victory Hockey League. We're all rooting for him, the whole Jaundice clan! His father had never even left Pennsylvania, let alone the country, until we went to watch Juan play. Just imagine the shock when he has to board a flight for Sweden! Oooh I can't wait!"

The Wild did not see their fair share of success last season, as growing pains with Juan and an inexperienced core of players led to a disappointing record of 34 wins to 33 losses. Juan was last in the league amongst goalies completing a full seventy two game season. All is not lost, though, as a fresh season brings a fresh start for the Wild and their Goaltender. The Wild look to capitalize on a large trade made mid season last year, as well as a solid draft to start this year. Juan himself has been diligent in practice and wants to make the most of this chance. His family states that they hear from him only once a week, usually Sunday evenings right after a primetime show regarding kingdoms and dragons. Janice states that he recaps them on the week's training in between discussing the episode.

When reached for comment, Juan replied "I think this is amazing, honestly. I'm living a dream and I could not be more grateful to the people around me, not only here in Saskatoon but also back home in PA. It means the world to me just to know the old Coal Region is in my corner, especially as it looks like there may be some world traveling soon!"

“With the season beginning soon and the exhibition games ending the Marlins showed fans they have something to look forward to this season. “-Shannon (The Hockey guy)

“The Marlins could be very dangerous this year, they have a young team and if they mesh well they could be scary”- Bob Mackenzie

With the Marlins impressing fans and media with they powerful offensive game in exhibition games and practices, one player, while struggled to find the back of the net early, has really gelled into his role with the team well. Alex Pearson didn’t register a point in the first 3 Exhibition games, but as they went on he got better and better and you could tell it was coming. He played his role well though as an energy forward, was chippy, Forechecked hard and played a well rounded game. In game 4 of the exhibition his luck finally turned around, he scored a beautiful wrist shot goal on a beautiful pass from teammate Samuel Sparrow. Less then a minute later He got an assist on a goal by Dean Clarke. Pearson added a Late Goal and was awarded 2nd star. His offensive game showed big strides at the end of the exhibition games, hopefully this carries on into the regular season.

fonziGG reacted to GRZ in Mikko is selected by Riga Reign.
Just now it got confirmed, that Riga Reign have drafted Mikko Aaltonen 4th Overall in the S66 VHL Entry-Draft. Whole season Mikko was battling with some tough opposition, but managed to hold his place and got rewarded by being a Top5 pick in what seemed one of the deepest drafts. We caught him after being drafted for a brief talk.

"All season you were fighting hard both in the regular season and in the projected draft rankings, what are your thoughts having your name called out there 4th overall?"
"It's great, I got approached by Riga beforehand and right then and there I realized that it's definitely the right place for me"
"Talking about that, what exactly made you so interested in this deal?"
"You know, the GM made me known that he actually was scouting me throughout the whole season, so just that commitment alone is awesome, and the whole idea that he's seeing me as a great fit into their roster which already is stacked as it is, he had a plan for me and I honestly think it'll work out great."
"So do you feel pressured now, having a meaningful role in the future of Riga Reign?"
"Not at all, I'm here to play hockey and perform, I will always give my 100% in those both things, If my GM expects me to perform I will, the cup is what I'm aiming for, and nobody can stop me.

fonziGG reacted to Gaudette in Blake Gaudette tough life [2/2]
After being born in Halifax Blake Gaudette moved to Boston with his mother and father and brother Adam Gaudette. He never was good at shapes or numbers it even took six years to potty train him. When he was young at the age of two his father passed away due to Cancer and he couldn't stand it and wasn't able to function properly for two years. He would sit there all day and not move his mother had to bring him to the hospital a lot to check if he had depression or anything like that.
At the age of five he started kindergarten and a lot of the kids enjoyed playing the sport hockey at his school. His brother Adam was already playing it but Blake never thought he would be a good athlete. He asked his mother if he could get a pair of skates. He instantly was good at it and knew how to hold a stick properly after being his brothers goalie for one year.
He started playing for the Boston Jr. Bruins with his brother Adam. They were playing on the top line for there team but school was always rough for Blake he was always behind his fellow friends and couldn't ever get his work done. But hockey was his get away from everything and it relaxed him.
Blake moved back to Halifax with his Mother and Brother at the age of seven and played for the Cape Breton Seals. He got 74 goals in 21 games which is insane for a seven year old but it was the first time he played without his brother Adam and he met a man by the name of Sidney Crosby who was his main friend on his team from and is still his best friend as of today.
At the age of nine his mother sadly passed away and they had to move to Vancouver to live with there Aunt. And Gaudette took a year off of playing hockey and focused on school but wasn't able to succeed like he hope he would and dropped out at the age of nine which took a massive toll on all of his skills and it was VHL or bust for him, So he got back into hockey and every night he would be working on his shot to be like his hero Gordie Howe but he wasn't able to be as tough as him.
At the age of thirteen his brother Adam decided to go to the NHL instead of the VHL and his brother was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in 2015 and once that happened Blake didn't know what league he wanted to go to and decided to go back into school to try and graduate to get a diploma. He was in grade four at the age of thirteen which was really rough for him because he was always the weird kid that everyone made fun of because he was to big and bulky.
It was 2017 now and he was offered a contract by Oslo of the VHLM and was finally about to live his dream as a VHL player and with Oslo he wasn't the best performer but he did only play a couple of games but he was determined to win a founders cup and never got that shot with Oslo who was about to relocate to Minnesota that next season but he wanted the Oslo fans to win and was upset when they were out of the running.
Before the VHLM draft his Aunt Uncle and brother Adam all passed away in a plane crash trying to make it to Halifax where Blake lived to visit him for him birthday and Blake was ready to retire from hockey and focused more on school and go to college like his brother Adam would want him to do. But he got a call from Sidney Crosby and Crosby told him how he should live out his dream and go to the VHL a Descion Crosby never did as he went to the NHL instead to be one of the most dominate players in history but the missing hole that was not having any family left and no one to fall back on.
He was drafted by Halifax twenty ninth overall in the VHLM draft and from that moment he was happy he was able to play in his hometown that he lived in for most of his hard ran life but he really needed to succeed in his first season he started the season on a line with Nacho and Edvin two great players for the Halifax twenty first but after twenty or so games he was taken off the great line in Halifax and had to try and earn chemistry with other players but he was taken off lines and swapped to other lines and never was able to stay with the same players for longer then twenty five games and it was tough for him to get chemistry with the players so he had a massive slump in the middle of the season only getting seven points in the final fifty five games of the season.
He was selected by Mexico City in the VHLM Expansion draft but was quickly traded back to Halifax to continue his dream as playing for his hometown team. He is about to finally live his dream and get drafted by a VHL team but he is staying in Halifax for one last season to try and get his founder cup which he believes will happen in Halifax, he is also shaping up to be the type of player he always wanted to be in a sniper like player and is hoping to score a lot of goals like he did before as a little kid that hasn't been able to transition but he also wants to set up his teammates and after his hard life as a child he is ready to play this season!

Unfortunately the Las Vegas don't have any open goaltending spots, otherwise we'd be happy to offer you a role with us. I'm sure you'll find success with one of the other fine teams in the league and I wish you nothing but the best going forward
