  1. Last season Team World were major underdogs with a less than ideal situation for defense. This season on the other hand we are a very well rounded team that is sure to be a force in the WJC. Everyone else in the league is talking oh you're not even a real country/continent, you're just the leftovers blah blah blah. I say fuck off mate we are clearly the best team out there with returning GM Zetterberg bound to take us to the next level. With a new logo, sexy new jerseys and a team that will blow your mind, Team World is bound to surprise the entire competition. Players like Aleelee Kiak, Gary Neal, Jay Jones and Defenz Mann are just the tip of the ice berg of that deep dish roster World has. The tournament starts tomorrow and all I can say is if you're making predictions, better pencil World in at the top.

    1. You are the number 1 team in the league at (14-5-1).  You have the most goals for, least goals against.  Can you still continue to climb from here?

    2. How important is it to you, that the Wranglers get contract extensions signed for upcoming UFA's Edwin The Encarnacion,  Willie Dredge and Mikko Lahtinnen ?

    3. Can you explain why Calgary would be a great team to sign an extension with ?

    4. What current or past VHL player's career, would you wish your player could replicate ?

    5. Who is your favorite player that is not a Calgary Wrangler ?

    6. Nevermind a playoff beard. You get to choose a new funky hairstyle for a playoff run. What are you going with ?

(Share a pic or GIF if you want)

    7. If you had to choose one. What would your dream VHL job be ?

    8. The Wranglers do a couple  off ice team bonding events. 18 holes of Mini putt and bowling.    Which player dominates at each event ?

    1. Once I get some good ice time the Wranglers will only do better.

    2. I think with the season we're having it only makes sense for them to re-sign to continue to have the success we are having both as a team and individually.

    3. Calgary is currently a competitive team that also has youth that can continue to stay at the top year in year out.

    5. Hulk Hogan ??

    6. Playoff pubes

    7. Mate I don't even like to work in real life why would I want a job here?

  3. S72 is well underway in the VHL and the Calgary Wranglers are showing that they are a top contender this year. They currently sit 2nd in the league, just 1 point behind Toronto, with a 10-5-1 record. This comes from sitting 2nd in the league in both goals for and goals against which leads to the best goal differential thus far. Strong performances from Mikko Lahtinen who is having a breakout season, Charlie Paddywagon, Kris Rice and RJ Jubis lead the skaters and the real star is Jacques Lafontaine in net who has started every game and is making a bid for top goaltender in the league. There are no signs of this team slowing down anytime soon. Latrell Mitchell had an exciting start to his season, getting an assist on the first Calgary goal of S72 but since then has not been able to find the score sheet until this last game where his teammates passed off to him to bury an empty netter and get the monkey off his back. He hasn't done too much statistically with just the 1 goal and 1 assist, 21 hits and 16 shots blocked. While he has found the box more often than he'd like, with 24 PIMs, he hasn't particularly been a liability out there either with a +10 rating thus far. So I'm sure fans and the team can be happy with his defensive performance out there, Mitchell would like to start finding the score sheet more. Maybe that can come now that he's got that first goal out of his system, but will definitely come with time as he gets comfortable out there.

    1. Ok its here ! The season is currently underway. Week 1 saw Calgary go (5-2-1 ). Are you happy with the results ?

    2. After 8 games, Which Wrangler has had the most impressive start ?

    Charlie Paddywaggon :

    1 goal 8 assists 9 points, 20 hits, 11 SB

    Mikko Lahtinen:

    5 goals 4 assists 9 points, 21 hits , +6

    Jacques Lafontaine:

    5-2-1 , .940 sv% , 1.86 GAA ,  1 SO

    3. Could anyone have predicted Davos 1 point behind us with a game in hand, clawing at us for 1st place in the league ?

    4. Which active VHL player has the best name ?

    5. What is going on with D.C  3-5-0 ? They are 2nd last in the league, after finishing 3rd overall last season.

    6. There is a mandatory 14 day worldwide lockdown. You have $200 and can only buy 3 different items. What you buying ?

    1. Can't be upset with those results, hoping we can continue our winning ways.

    2. Think that Lafontaine is the key to our success, his numbers are unbelievable and he keeps us in it every game.

    3. They added lots of youth this off-season as well as some veterans so they were a big question mark, seems that what they did has worked so far.

    4. Paddywagon is a pretty good name.

    5. They're shit house and have no chance of beating us this season.

    6. Well you need food so 28 frozen pizzas for 2 a day should cost around $100, then the rest on alcohol.

  5. LATRELL MITCHEL SCOUTING REPORT

    image.png.50bfaf6b945eb57f403b4fe8af3925fd.png

Latrell Mitchell has just finished his short career in the VHLM and has just been drafted to the big leagues! His upside seems to be very good as shown by his draft position at 3rd overall to the Calgary Wranglers. His season that just ended with Minnesota was good for his personal stats, but were disappointed in the results of the playoffs getting knocked out in the 1st round. It was a sad end to an otherwise great season. Mitchell was able to put up 20 goals and 61 assists for 81 points in 72 games this season with the Storm. With that he had a +17 rating with 79 hits and 93 shots blocked. While he hopes to improve on his defensive side of the game, he hopes that the offence can continue into the major leagues.

    STRENGTHS

DEFENSE - While it may not show up on the statistics, defence is actually a strong part of Mitchell's game. He is usually in great position and has an active stick always contesting the opposing players. As said it may not show up on the stat sheet as much, but he would definitely pass the eye test.

SKATING - Another strong part of his game is his skating ability. He seems to be one of the quicker players out on the ice and that should only get better as his career goes on. This allows him to have that great defence as always being in position and not getting beat on the outside too often.

SCORING - Putting the puck on net is one of the most important things of Latrell's game. He puts a lot of shots on net but also has great scoring chances as shown from putting up 20 goals on the backend. The real threat is when he gets on the power play as he is a great quarterback with 13 of his 20 goals coming with the extra man.

    WEAKNESSES

CHECKING - Latrell Mitchell is not the most physical player on the ice which can sometimes cause a problem, especially being on the defensive side. Taking the body is much more efficient than trying to knock the puck off the stick so that is something he will have to work on if he wants to be successful in the big league.

STRENGTH - Again with the physical aspect of the game, his strength is not where it needs to be. He has been hitting the iron a little bit in the gym but it just hasn't reached the point it needs to be. Look for him to really work on this before the VHL season starts.

PASSING - While this is actually something Latrell has worked on a lot in his short career, we're still going to call it a weakness because he is always looking to put the puck on net rather than pass it to his teammates. He will have more trouble getting shots on net playing against a tougher competition and for that reason he may have to start looking to pass to his teammates a little more.

If Latrell Mitchell can replicate what he did in the VHLM, the Calgary Wranglers will be very happy with their 3rd overall pick.
