Greg Ernest reacted to Victor in VHLE Expansion
Greetings VHL/E/M/ians. We have some exciting changes to announce just before off-season as we look to rebalance the leagues a bit after the first VHLE season. With the VHLM TPE cap having dropped to 200, we have found that 12 teams is probably too many for the VHLM. At the same time, our S80 experience and current projections suggest that 6 teams is too few for the VHLE. So, the easiest solution is a very European style promotion!

From S81, the Minnesota Storm and Yukon Rush will be moving from the VHLM to the VHLE.

With that bombshell out of the way, a bit of housekeeping is in order.

Seasoned veterans will remember the Minnesota Storm were known as the Oslo Storm for much of their existence, including as recently as S64 when they were the last European VHLM franchise. So, with their move to the VHLE the Storm are also going back home to Oslo. @Laine, Minnesota's GM and one of the many fine applicants for the inaugural VHLE GM positions, will also be making the move to Oslo.

As for the Rush, the name lends itself to the Alps and the slightly underrated hockey nations of Austria and Switzerland. Geneva Rush? Vienna Rush? The final name will be announced shortly once confirmed between the VHLE Commissioners and the GM - @Brewins15, who has expressed interest in moving across the VHLE from Halifax.

From a VHLM perspective, this means a job opening in Halifax. The VHLM Commissioners will also separately announce the plan on how to treat the remaining Yukon and Minnesota players in the VHLM.

In the VHLE, Oslo and Geneva/Vienna will receive the 3rd and 4th pick in every round of the draft, as well as an additional 9th and 10th pick in every round of the draft - thereby getting additional players and avoiding an expansion draft.

yes -  teams would still have permissions to have private channels etc where 99% of people cant see but no risk of channels being deleted out of spite or malicious intent. It will easily be bypassed though and official and unofficial locker rooms would exist. All in all its a great idea but it probably will be worked around immediately.

    Hello VHL...
This little birdie is about to begin making a big splash. Travelling all the way from Munich in Germany, I seem to have landed in the VHL at quite the moment, especially for a Euro product. The addition of the VHLE and even Cologne as a part of the league brought so much joy to me.
Although don't let my excitement for the "E" fool you, I'm here to have success at ALL levels of the VHL system. There is so much I want to accomplish, but at the same time, I don't care about player awards. If I win one, great, heck even fantastic. Although I'm here to win Cups, Gold, Rings, etc. Then that means that I know I helped my TEAM to great success. My first stop on this journey will be very far from home, but a place with great history. I definitely feel the Rush, Yukon. I'll show you what this crow can do on the ice for the team.

If you were to start talking about a 6-foot-9 center, most people would assume that you were talking about a basketball player, not a hockey player....

But for Ernie King Jr, an 18 year old Kanata native and son of former VHLM star Ernie King  whom played from S71-S76 splitting time between Yukon, Mexico, Philadelphia, retiring with a Career Total of 338 VHLM GP 57 Goals, 118 Assists, 175 Points as well as 47 playoff appearances, his career was highlighted by what would be his final season in S76 scoring 21 goals as a Defenceman and amounting 72 Pts in 72 games and a career high 125 shots blocked splitting time between Yukon, Mexico, Philadelphia and a short period in Ottawa.

I remember Ernie King Jr as a Defenceman when he first came on the scene in the GTHL, but a 2021 switch to playing up front and as a forward really helped him find a home. He doesn’t have incredible footspeed (can you blame him), but he’s light on his feet and can move around relatively effectively. By all accounts he works hard in all areas of the ice and is an effective penalty killer thanks to his agility and reach.
This won’t be the first time that Ernie has played winger in his career. He’s dabbled in the position in the past, including in his OHL draft year. King Jr is a big, intimidating and aggressive player who uses his size as an asset. An agile skater who is often the hardest worker on the ice. Has the ability to chip in with some points when given the chance. With his enormous reach and a rare level of quickness and puck skill for a guy his size, Ernie Jr is a hard player to match up against in a man-man showdown. His contributions on the ice extend far beyond what appears on the stat line. He racked up 9 points in the nine games since then, including finding the score sheet in seven of the first eight games after making the jump from Minor Midget AAA to playing Junior A.

More importantly for his team, though, the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are now on a stellar 27-0-1 run over their past twenty-eight games, thanks in large part to the impact that Ernie King Jr has in all three zones. They’ve even climbed to the top of the weekly CJHL Top 10 rankings 4 weeks in a row, an impressive feat considering how relatively young the roster is being filled with mostly 16-year-old drafted from the WHL Bantam draft. Finishing 2020-2021 season Ernie King Jr was able to amass 35 Goals and 62 Assists in 52 Regular Season games and an outstanding in 40 Pts in 24 games in the AJHL Playoffs before the Bandits as the winners of the AJHL playoffs they then advanced to the Doyle Cup against the playoff champion of the British Columbia Hockey League The Penticton Vees. In a tight OT win the Bandits were the winner of the Doyle Cup advancing to the National Junior A Championship, where the Bandits would go 6-0 during the tournament and take home the RBC Cup. Ernie has Recently signed with the Minnesota Storm with an offer he couldn’t refuse. Ernie is set to make his VHLM debut in todays sim hopefully! and make dad proud!

Greg Ernest reacted to Peace in Time for a change in simming
So I just want to know... are we really accusing Beketov in rigging the sims on a sim engine he can't truthfully rig for an individual player in the first place? As far as I understand... any setting Beketov would use to make sure his player was successful would also apply to everyone else because there is only global settings in the version of the engine we use.

Am I understanding this correctly in that Gorlab is saying that Bek is sitting there on his PC re-simming each game, outputting the results into a folder and then checking the folder for favorable results before uploading them to the server? Do you who think there is fuckery afoot really think Beketov is going to sit there and wait until he gets the results he wants for just Lathinen or Moscow?

I don't think you understand how much work that would really be, I don't even understand how much work that would really be, and how much time it would take just to guarantee his player got a criteria in the x or y category of his choosing. No, I don't think Beketov is cheating or rigging the sims.

With that out of the way... I 100% support transparent sims. Go live on YouTube/Twitch, hit the sim button, export them to a folder and then upload them to the server. It seems pretty simple and only adds a few extra steps (as covered by Sonnet earlier), reinforces the integrity people are talking about and solves the 'you're rigging' argument before it becomes another argument.

    Just my $0.02 though.

My automatic thought was "Who was the most influential in the early days of your VHL career" with going with the idea that we could write about the GMs or users who aren't even GMs that went out of their way to help guide you through the ropes and learning the weekly routine but most of  all who was the ONE (or two) users who when you  look back at the first day you created your player who is that helped you mold yourself into the member of the community you are today and especially 1st gens ! I know during my tenure in the VHL community there was a week very similar to this that was im not tottally sure and probably the exact same thing as this but along the lines of the theme being who had been the 3 most important people in your journey ? , i was thinking making the theme more of like what @GreenGato said regarding GM and AGM appreciation or even the Comish and BoG users that have helped , spreading love around the community especially with it being so close to valentines day giving thanks and showing the love to our dedicating users that helped us become and want to stay part of the VHL community 🎇

    -      Dok and Spyro put me a guy coming from what looked to be a retirement when i chose not to sign in the VHLM my contract ended with the Reapers and was not offered a contract to resign, I did what any other EX-Pro hockey player does... move home and DOMINATE the local beer league getting tuned with the boys in the dressing room before and after. it was good times, a former teammate of mine from Bantam started a new team in the local beer league and obviously i wanted to come and show off in front off all the local puck bunnies at the Sunday and Friday 11 or 12 PM 60 minutes straight time hockey . The team turned out to be an actual local news story.. Yup a Beer League team was getting local news coverage online from saultsports and this is coming from a town that lives, eats , sleeps , breathes, and probably shits hockey too with the craziest fanbase and INCREDIBLE minor hockey AAA system and a Junior A team that hasn't been out of the CJHL Top 10 rankings in my lifetime, not to mention the Soo Pee Wee program run by legendary former Sault Greyhound (the "Real" team everyone "KNOWS" everything about and are always right lol) and Former OHL,NHL Star as a player turned coach and also winning a WJHC Gold Medalist as Coach of Team Canada U20 Hockey in the Soo is kind of a big deal.

Back to the Beer League , well the teams name was agreed upon by the roster to be the Wheeling Whalers, we had a group of what i thought to be Rag Tag mostly AA even BB or Highschool guys with maybe 1 or 2 games of AAA experience in there life... BOY WAS I WRONG. Back tracking a little, from day one when I expressed my interest to the team manager he asked about what position i am ? I found this question honestly very confusing as i have played Forward my whole life and never once even played a game as a defenseman when we had short roster ive literally never played the position. So i decide to respond with im playing Defence!!! (leading to me being a D now , clearly it was a success and a decision i wish i made as a teenager as i am clearly a born defender and shine much brighter on the back end, NOT saying im not the PF i proved to be in Philly because I can still do all of it. When i saw the team roster i actually only recognized two names... 1st our Goalie and Co Manager/CFO J.Mancuso. Mancuso and i where teammates WAY back when at the age of 9 before AAA was even an option. Mancuso and his family would later go on to move down south shortly after where J spent his years playing hockey down south but never anywhere close to AAA level. Funny enough Mancuso and his family would move back to Sault Ste Marie ten years into the future, a decade later. I only found this out by asking my teammate during a HS game WHO THE FUCK is that silky forward with no # on his jersey !?!? Yup Mancuso wasnt only a top quality Goalie but a Top notch and Top 6 forward caliber player as well and the HS league SOMEHOW allowed him to play both positions .

Secondly was the name that honestly made me call my dad instantly when I saw because i was so excited. "Kaelan O'Flynn" a.k.a. "Kaelan Brown-O'Flynn", O-Flynn is one of the best players i played with in my youth hockey days and remain friends to this day along with my other VERY close friend who was also a member of this age group so i know the age group very well, Kaelen , Cody and I have always remained in contact regarding our mutual burning passion for watching local minor hockey.  O-Flynn was a HIGHLY HIGHLY touted young player, the only reason we were teammates was because he was scoring 7 goals a game against the kids his age, and they moved him from Minor to Major (about 15 kids usually do this) But Kaelen was still WAY ahead of his age group in development at the time and was after two months placed into the Major league with my Age group Two years Older (THAT NEVER HAPPENS). Kaelen would go on to fizzle out as he was clearly and just like everywhere has them and every age group have those players that hit their peak MUCH earlier than others and never end up being "the guy" everyone touted him to be. O-Flynn played AAA his entire youth hockey career and to say he fizzled out is almost unfair. His age groups AAA Roster was STACKED, The Sault wont ever see an age group so deep EVER again, I don't think there's ever been an age group like the 1996 Sault Boys. With the number and caliber of the Soo's youth program players that would go onto playing in the OHL, U-Sports Canadian University Hockey League, NCAA DIV 1 as well as now AHL and NHL regulars and its a 100% certainty that  more than 4 of these young men have committed there lives to this and will be making a career out of professional hockey and potentially more than 4 will end up in the Pro's and spend their career there..

Prior to O-Flynns OHL Draft year, there had been ongoing issues behind the scenes involving coaching issues and conflicts of interest where the AAA Coach's all three had kids on the team and ice time and favoring started to become evident and obviously totally unnecessary with 13 THIRTEEN of the players in this age group O-Flynns life long teammates would go on to be selected and  drafted to the OHL. 3 of these players would go on to be NHL Draft picks all in the top 3 round lowest being 90th Ovr (Amadio). the roster included two players who are currently on NHL rosters and NHL regulars both with over 4 seasons of NHL experience Perlini and M.Amadio have both cemented themselves as NHL regulars playing top 9 minutes and special teams minutes as Amadio being a PK specialist as well as getting PP minutes , not to mention Amadio's incredible OHL career https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/151385/michael-amadio For real check him out !  ., one drafted 11th Overall (Brendan Perlini), 3 players that went on to be NHL Draft pick all in the top 3 rounds lowest being 90th Overall pick by the LA Kings (Amadio). Two other Notable players playing pro right now and working towards cracking the NHL roster is the one player that actually isnt O-Flynns age, and thats New Jersey Devils Draft pick in  B.Speers 2 years after being selected 11th Overall to the OHL by his Hometown Sault Greyhounds Blake Speers__________TBC  . First lets touch on O-Flynns former D partner R.Killins currently signed with the Tucson Roadrunner of the AHL(Arizona Coyotes of the NHLs farm team) Killins split his youth AAA days between moving from Wawa (butfuck nowhere) who only had a BB team to moving in with family in Sault Ste Marie where he spent the majority of his youth hockey. At the time the Sault did not have a Minor Midget AAA program , as ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about the OHL draft you understand the importance of your minor midget year with it being your draft year as well as the HUGE Minor Midget showcases providing players with the opportunity to be viewed playing against players there own age by 100s of Junior A, OHL, QMJHL, NCAA and even NHL scouts coming to these showcases , everyone has a clipboard....

Killins made the bold decision to move down south to live with his mother after making the prestigious Huron Perth Lakers Minor Midget Team of the "U16 Alliance League based  out of the London, Ontario Area the Alliance is the 2nd most prestigious Minor Midget League in Ontario behind the GTHL there's at least a dozen scouts at EVERY game
