Effort 2/2: Most definitely Look 2.75/3: This is close to a 6 but just barely missing the mark. The blending is great and the lighting is pretty spot on. What's getting docked here is the overall feel of the sig. It doesn't seem to know what it wants the be. The bokeh dots are usually best with a kinda clean style but that font looks like it serves best in a messy or grunge style. The individual pieces are good but they don't work coherently together enough to get a 6 in my opinion. Creativity 1/1: Yep. Overall 5.75/6

Effort 2/2: I can see some effort in this one. Look 2.5/3: I can see what you were going for here but it just needs a little bit more. The BG is kinda cool and the text is pretty good, however the blending is non-existent and it really hurts any illusion of depth. Also, the render effects could use some work and the lighting seems to just be going wherever. Overall, good piece but needs some tightening up. Creativity 1/1: Most definitely. Overall 5.5/6

Effort 2/2: I can really see the effort you put into this piece. Look 2.5/3: Render effects are good, text is great, BG is pretty good. I would like to see the yellow stripe in the BG as a different colour (red to match the render maybe?) and I'm not sure how I feel about the ghosting around the render / how blown out the text looks. A few tweaks on a curves layer could really make your lighting pop and bring this thing up to perfection. Very well done though. Creativity 1/1: Yep. Overall 5.5/6

Effort 2/2: Honestly I don't see A LOT of effort here. That looks like a pre made BG and 7 layers to me. However I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt on this one. Look 1.5/3: Render looks out of focus, no real effects or lighting, no blending. It definitely needs work to look finished in my opinion. Try some different things with stocks and layer options. Experimentation is key. Creativity 1/1: I'll give you this Overall: 4.5/6 Final: 5/6

Effort 2/2: I can definitely see the effort you put in here. Look 2.5/3: Everything seems a little hazy, not sure if it's the stock work that's doing it or the lack of lighting but it needs to be fixed. Get some good contrast in there and make some things pop. Its okay to have dark spots as long as there are bright spots as well to focus the eye. Speaking of which, the text (which also needs some work BTW) is the focal point which should NEVER happen. The render is heavily blended but it looks like the text is slapped on top which draws the eye toard it way too easily. Creativity 1/1: I'll give you this Overall: 5.5/6 Final: 6/6

Mac or PC? I find QuickTime to be the easiest, it's the default movie player in Mac and can be downloaded for PC with (I think) the same capabilities. Just open it up and select file-> new screen recording. The issue with trial software for stuff like this is that 90% of the time you get a huge watermark that makes it impossible to really use.

Honeymoon in Orlando from Sunday (Oct 18th) for two weeks (until Nov 1st). I will have internet access but believe it's safe to say that I won't be using it to visit the VHL haha.

Effort 2/2: BG work, text work, effects, lighting. I can see the effort here. Look 2.75/3: I like what's going on here. The colours pop and are kinda fun, the lighting is subtle but well balanced, the BG has enough depth to feel like something is going on. Where I'm docking is the text and the render effects. The text placement is a little off (I would move it more to the right, cover the render a bit more) and the first name just has no real effects going on which is a shame because the last name looks great. I would almost say to cut the first name entirely and it would be better. The render effects are okay but nothing great. Looks like you slapped liquify on it which can be helpful but needs a little more here in my opinion. I would have worked a bit more with the nice coloured triangle theme that you have on the left side, that would have gone a long way. This got way longer than I wanted it to, point is it's pretty good but just needs a bit more work. Creativity 1/1: Definitely Overall: 5.75/6

Effort 0.5/2: I see 4 layers, maybe 5 at the most. Not worth the effort points in my opinion. Look 1/3: I'm being kinda generous here because I think it's funny, that's about the only reason. The text is slapped one, the boobs are slapped on (and like sorta half blended?) and I think there's a border but I can't really see it. Look wise this is pretty ugly by GFX standards, I won't lie to you. Creativity 1/1: I will definitely give you this. It's creative and funny. Overall: 2.5/6

Effort 2/2: I can definitely see the effort required here. Look 2.75/3: It' so close but just a little off for me. The render needs to be brought down a tad (I'm seeing too much crotch and too little head) and the lighting feels like it's all in the BG. The text is good but the 31 stands out a bit too much, not sure if it's the colour or the positioning. Overall I think it's VERY CLOSE but just needs a few extra touches. Well done. Effort 2/2: I can see the effort put forth on this piece. Some nice blending and effects to be worth the points. Look 2.75/3: This piece is close but just missing a few elements to push it over the edge. The render effects are amazingly done and the text is beautiful in my opinion. The BG is lacking a bit, kinda just looks flat and boring, so that could be improved. Also, the lighting is a little awkward, looks like a big red dot over his entire face. Get that brushing or effect or whatever pushed over a bit and it'll look far better. Creativity 1/1: Yup Overall: 5.75/6

Effort 2/2: It's a manic which means effects are often less obvious but I can definitely see the effort put into this piece. Look 2.5/3: You are definitely right regarding the text, it is a MAJOR problem for this sig. Without it you have good effects, decent lighting and a pretty good sig. With it you have an ugly grey blob in the corner that was slapped on and is distracting. Try getting text closer to the render, even if it blocks it a bit. It'll help to keep the focal point where it should be. Also, get some effects and blending not it. Text should be a relatively low layer in a sig, down near the render level, so that it blends in well. This looks like it was near the top so it seems slapped on. Overall, I won't dock much because the text really is the only major problem but it is an issue that needs to be resolved. Creativity 1/1: Yup Overall: 5.5/6

Effort 2/2: I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on this one. It doesn't look like an amazing amount was done but I know that a lot of effects can be subtle sometimes. Look 2.5/3: I don't mind the text placement, I think it's a creative way of making a sig rather than showing a render in full. The effects are lacking though, both on the text and the render itself. The sig just doesn't have anything major that makes it pop. With that said it's still well made for it's style. Creativity 1/1: Yup Overall: 5.5/6 FINAL: 6/6

Should have gotten this for last week, now you have me grading a video Effort: 1/1 - Good amount of cuts, some slow-mo (although I have a hunch that was the original footage but it was mixed in well), good use of music, etc. Worth the effort points. Look: 2.5/3 - It felt like at some point something more should have happened. Even when it hit the high point of the video everything still felt a little slow and like it was setting up to something big. The music was a great choice but just didn't seem to lead anywhere. Only real transition was the corny one right at the end but that's not necessarily a bad thing, jump cuts are best for something like this. I would have liked to see (or at least hear) a fade at the end instead of an awkward cut. Overall it felt good but lacked some punch that bringing in a different song or faster cuts would have added. Quality: 2/2 - I don't believe it's full HD but I know Vimeo has some pretty tight restrictions for free users so the quality was high enough in that regard. It still looked clear. Clip choices were done well, I liked that you made sure to use teams that much up (at least colour wise) with VHL teams. Decent mix of highlight clips and more slow-paced stuff. Very good on the footage quality. Overall: 5.5/6
