Just waiting for @PatrikLaine to go off on that scoring streak.
-
3 Goals in 4:05. Rough third for Lafontaine.
-
Miami makes it in last day of the regular season and splits in Halifax. Back to Miami. If I were Halifax I'm worried, we've seen underdog Miami teams take series very far.
-
Louis absolutely steals the game with a game winner 1:03 into overtime. lol Miami in six.

This one was never really in doubt was it? Chris Reynolds looking like an early MVP for Vegas this postseason.
-
Wild 1st period with seven goals between you. Good win Vegas 5-4, hanging on and shutting it down in a quiet third period! Sloppy third period from Wu with multiple giveaways late in the third, trying to do too much. Moose's Play of the Game goes to @Crstats23 (Chris Reynolds) collecting the loose puck after his initial shot was blocked to bang it in for the 2 goal lead. Put Vegas up 5-3 and really sucked the air out of the Mexico City comeback.

Just my two cents, I know it's an old topic. For me it depends on the situation honestly. You have to look at when goalies joined, and team comp. For instance, in San Diego Hasek joined after recreation day so obviously he's going to get less games than a starter. Yukon only had 1 goaltender all season (which I also don't think is fair) so how are we going to say, hey start your bot. In my opinion: VHL & VHLM - Every team MUST carry two goalie (flexibly you could give a deadline to have this done but honestly should just be a requirement from day 1 of the season) VHL - Backup goaltender(s) must reach 15% of total regular season games played (10-11 games). This would mean if you for some strange reason did have three goalies they would have to combine for the 10-11, not 10-11 individually. VHLM - Backup goaltender(s) must reach 25% of total regular season games played (18 games). This would mean if you for some strange reason did have three goalies they would have to combine for the 18, not 18 individually. (The M is about development and encouraging activity in the league which is why it should be more). Optional VHLM: Backup goaltender must start at least one game in the playoffs. (Because the VHL has a preliminary round I suppose simming for the VHLM playoffs could drop to one game per day during that round to work this in but that's just an optional take. This would be harder to pull off.) Penalties for Non-Compliance In the event a VHL team doesn't follow this edict would be subject to a cap penalty equal to 1.5x that of their backup goaltender's cap hit (not including the goalie's cap itself) and would last for the duration of the goaltender's contract (season end expiring deals would be treated as one year penalties). for example: If your backup makes $2M for the next two seasons, your cap penalty for the next two seasons would be $3M over those two seasons. In the event a VHLM team doesn't follow this edict they would be subject to draft penalties including a loss of their most current 1st round pick (meaning if you don't have a 1st that season it carries to next season). Optional for both: It would technically be a breach of contract on the part of the franchise with this edict and therefore technically the backup should be given the option to walk as a free agent but again, that's a further discussion point. Second Violation: On both fronts, if there's a second violation then that's when corrective action should be taken. We want to encourage people to play and wouldn't want to bury an organization so for me a second violation should mean a GM removal.

So playing Smite with some friends recently our friend Zoey dipped out on us three days in a row after like 2 games so we decided to start a petition to have her psn name changed to Little Dipper. I know it's not league related but I could use some support from my VHL brothers and sisters to boost the numbers. She told us we couldn't get 100 signups. https://www.change.org/p/change-zoey-s-name-to-little-dipper-change-zoey-s-name-to-little-dipper?recruiter=359922880&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=tap_basic_share

1. "Right now I'm focused on the postseason. We had a good end to the regular season, seem to have found a little bit of our game and mine especially. I'm focused on the playoffs, I want to win a championship." 2. Fresh Prince style comedy. I want nothing more than to see Beaviss in the Uncle Phil role and Downey as the sassy butler. lol 3. "Variety. "Big games however require the big game soundtrack. 80s rock and roll." 4. "Regular season wrapped up with some good play from my end. We've battled this out before but heading into the playoffs we are in a good place offensively and I'm taking care of my game as well." 5. "I want to win a championship. Starts with our first series but ultimately I want to win a championship. I've been through a lot with these guys/gals in Vancouver and we've had our grit questioned. I want a championship." 6. "Not really. I appreciated my time there but I'm very forward driven. I wish I could've won a cup on my way out but that experience should help me deliver for this team now. I'll always appreciate my time there, miss teammates like Socks, Thornton, Laine, but no. I don't really miss the M much."

On this week’s edition of The Long & Short of It, we take a look at Seattle Bears Center Kris Rice (@Ricer13) and his amazing season. Rice, drafted 11th overall in the season 69 draft to the Calgary Wranglers played four full seasons of hockey with the Wranglers, steadily increasing his production every season. In the front office, Rice took up an AGM position with the Yukon Rush before ascending to helm the newly expanded Miami Marauders as the General Manager. He’s been to the finals, both as a player and a manager but has had heartbreak on both fronts. For this season, a change of pace was needed, resulting in a trade out of Calgary to Seattle, the only team to have won 4 Continental Cups in a ten-season span (seriously, I checked, well fucking done Bana). Rice is approaching the final stretch in his career and hopes to capture the elusive cup that would cap off an amazing career. Focusing on this season, Rice got off to a hot start, earning 9 points (2G, 7A) in his first five games as a Bear. It’s a run that never really parted Rice all season as he hit 101 points, including 44 goals to cap off career highs. It’s a massive leap from the 36 he amassed in 73 games during his rookie season. Over the course of five seasons in the VHL, Rice has increased his points per game production on average nearly 0.25 on average annually since joining the VHL. It’s a mark that very few in the league match and gives hope to some rookies who have sighted Rice as a player they’d like to emulate. It’s the first time Rice has hit the 100-point mark since season 69 where he racked up 137 points as a part of the VHLM’s Mississauga Hounds team that went to the Founder’s Cup finals against the eventual champions Saskatoon. Rice sits 7th in the scoring race and wasn’t able to climb passed Jeff Downey of Vancouver. But unlikely many of his peers, Rice is only matched by two other player in the race for game winners. At 10 GWGs on the season, Rice is tied for the lead with Moscow forward Mikko Lahtinen and Brock Louth of Vancouver, all are likely to get a few award considerations at the end of the season. It should be mentioned that this is Rice’s first full season with a new build. Kris Rice rerolled is stats last season, hoping to become a more prolific scorer. Now sitting on the golden 99 SC & DF, Rice has put a 96 PH and 95 SK to work as this is likely the peak, or nearly that Rice will ever deliver. With such a high skill game, it’s not rocket science to see how the 6’1 185lbs Center has made such an impact in Seattle. It’s a top end build and reflects the scoring tone of the league. If you want a model to look at for a future player, this is it. And finally, as always, we sat down with Kris Rice to discuss a few things such as his time in Calgary, what he needs for his legacy as a player, his process when building Miami, and possibly becoming Calgary’s GM one day: Q: Obviously, a big change of scenery this year after a big offseason swap of yourself and Greene [along with the 1st for this season]. What did it mean for you to be moved from Calgary where you’d spent so much time and how did that move come about? Rice: I actually requested the trade mid season last year. Calgary was struggling and I had dedicated a lot of blood sweat and tears to that organization to only have heart break every season. Made it to two finals and lost each time. Our season actually started turning around and we looked good going to the playoffs. I started to rethink my request but after losing out to the bears I felt it was time to move on to get my chance at that elusive championship. Q: You’ve had three seasons now in Miami to get the team together. You’re on the fringe of making the playoffs for the third straight season in as many in years as a franchise. What’s been the secret to success in Miami? Rice: Creating an atmosphere that players want to be in. We weren’t going to make the playoffs at the start of the season but waiver signings and trades were made because players want to be here and that has given us a real chance to possibly make the playoffs again. Q: Is there a VHL team that if the GM job became available, we could see Rice in that front office? Rice: Calgary would be my first choice every day. I was a huge part of that franchise for many seasons and it is still my home. It would be my dream to take over if Jubis ever retired but I would be happy just to get a chance at a VHL GM role of any team. Q: Final question now; Assuming you’ll finish your career in Seattle and aside from the Continental Cup, what would put the defining stamp on the career of Kris Rice? Rice: If I can’t win a Continental cup then the defining stamp isn’t a good one. It’ll be that of a player who came close so many times but could never get the job done. I have 2.5 season left to change that narrative and that starts with the Seattle Bears pushing for a title this season!

Have a listen to Spartan & I. We talked a lot about everything people have been saying on here. It's honestly a multi step thing. https://vhlforum.com/topic/93818-not-so-mini-pod-with-moose-spartan/

Link: Moose and @Spartan shoot on the new announcement from commissioners, ponder how it could've been handled differently, and what could still be done to make it work. This along with much more on what we had hoped would be a 30 minute podcast that went 116. Edit: Forgot my #BoldasFuck @BOG tag. lol

Would love to do a deep dive into this on a podcast with someone.

My first ever true graphic. Took me a shamefully long time to make it. I'm not totally unhappy with it but there's some real talent in this league that make this very amateur. Render: Ryan Miller Player: Michael Fletcher (@DragonFire420)

I don't really love the font on this one. Was a good touch to cover majority of the logo but I don't love the placement. Background is absolutely crisp with the Calgary team background but the font is really distracting in the middle. 7/10 for me but as someone who is just getting into graphics myself, mine will likely be worse.
-
I have a love hate relationship with these. It's a good jersey, I have never loved our colors though. Especially the yellow. But that's not your design, that's just what you had to work with. Jersey looks good, logo need an update but look good. I think the light blue compliments the jersey best. It offsets the dark and yellow enough to make the design work. 8/10 man, great work and good job getting that graphic in for the +6 ?

Today we debate “The Long & Short of It”, a weekly article highlighting a player in the VHL or VHLM that has caught our attention or needs a spotlight in the league to give an overview of the player, some statistical background, and short highlights from an interview done with that player! This week we have Kevin King, forward for the Vancouver Wolves. King at the time of writing has played 64 games this season, amassing 26 points, including 11 goals (2 of those game winners). It’s been a rocky rookie season for King and you’ll hear that first from the man himself. His underline numbers aren’t where he’d like them to be but his effort and determination are among the elite in this league. It would be unwise to draw complete comparisons, yet he’s on a remarkably similar start to the career of greats like current Moscow forward Mikko Lahtinen and even Dragon’s center Benny Graves who both put up rookie seasons where they were under a 0.5ppg but have both gone on to have great careers respectively. Rumors have abounded that King may go the way of his former GM in Miami [Kris Rice] and reroll his TPE with the intentions of getting more offense and a soft reboot out of his player. Either way, we expect King to do as he’s done from his start in the VHL/VHLM and have an outstanding playoff. In his career, King averages nearly a quarter [.22ppg] more points per game in the postseason, not including his fantastic final three games of the World Juniors in season 73. King currently sits at a 95 SC and 90 DF as of this writing, his two highest skills. We don’t expect much change in that either, as he’s a very much molded in a two-way style. We would expect that his DF, PH, and SK are likely next on his training schedule but we wouldn’t be surprised to see King ST build either. He’s clearly built for both ends of the ice and with some added speed and strength, he could have a quick turnaround next season on the scoresheet. And finally, we sat down with Kevin King to discuss a few things like his time in San Diego as an AGM, his thoughts on the VHLM Dispersal Draft, his season in Vancouver, and a surprising remark on what his future might look like. Here are some highlights from that interview: Q: So obviously you’ve answered this a lot this year so we’ll change it up best we can. What is your next steps to get on the scoresheet in a positive way? King: “I mean, it’s really a luck of the draw kind of deal ya know what I mean. I’ve been training, doing the right things, but ultimately it does come down to whether the STHS wants what you’ve got. I’m gonna work on my speed though. Little strength, little puck handling, some defense. Definitely speed though. My skating is probably one of the worst parts of my game and so that really hurts me when I’m out there with superstar players. I pondered whether SK did much as a skill in the VHL but it kinda feels like that experiment hasn’t paid off. So that’s what I’m pointing to as an area to focus.” Q: You’ve been in San Diego behind the desk for a season, almost a full season and a half, what is the job like now versus what it was when you came in? King: “Honestly it’s a tough job. I know the running jokes about AGMs and what they do or don’t do. Being on the inside of that, it matters. Especially on a VHLM level where we have so much focus on development, not only of players but of users. Of active, long term members. So it’s a tough act to get right, I’ve had my stumbles doing the job. I think I’ve had some good moments as well, but there’s room for improvement.” Q: This may be a leading question and feel free to say so, how involved are you in the gameplan for the Marlins on a day-to-day basis? King: “It’s a difficult question because for a little while here I had felt so burned out on the league. I was [still am] struggling up in Vancouver and down here it’s a sunny day in California but we’ll be going golfing at the end of the season and that’s tough for me as a competitor. Rockstar has been great though. We don’t always agree on everything but I think that’s true of any front office. He’s been supportive in some of my missteps as an AGM and he’s a good teacher. I haven’t done a lot of work with the actual sim as of yet but we talk lines like any other team and he’ll take my input to heart. It’s a learning process and he’s a great GM in the M to learn the game from.” Q: You’re obviously looking at the lottery for the Marlins this season. With two 1st round picks and 4 picks in the 2nd-4th rounds, what direction would you like to see San Diego take in the draft? Are there any names you’re looking at specifically yet? King: “I mean, I’m still looking at this group to finish strong. We haven’t been on the winning side very often this season but over the last month or so here we’ve been really competitive in a lot of games. As for the draft it’s a silently good field this season. Some solid welfare earners and a few really nice prospects that could be cappers or very close to weekly earners like Prout. It’s a fairly deep draft positionally, which is nice. Last year we saw a lot of jumps for defensemen as they were slim pickings but this time around we have a solid field. I don’t want to reveal a ton but obviously Prout has been a great teammate, great lockeroom guy for us. He wants to play, learn, and be a good member of the community so I like his attitude. Fletcher and Hasek are both great goaltending options as you get passed the two bigger recreations from job payers. Fletcher right now looks like the next guy behind UnGuri & Rasputin but we’ll see if Sterling can start to cap a little closer to the draft. [As a welfare guy] he’s on pace to drop a little bit but that’s good for longterm VHLM team building, a sentence that’s a little rare.” Q: What does next season look like for Kevin King, as a player and as an AGM? King: “Much the same honestly. I’ll be in Vancouver unless Beav decides otherwise and this will be the first real draft for me in San Diego as an AGM. I expect to be involved and IR and I will have to get on the same page for it. The offseason is my bread and butter, especially the draft so I’m really excited to see how it goes. I’ll be looking at those next steps as well. I’d like to help build some lines and maybe get some actual hands on the sim, at least in visual. It’s a contract year to me on both fronts.” Q: Last question, and it’s a little based on your last response. What does that mean, it’s a contract year on both fronts? King: “I’ve had a rough go of it so far as a player but quite honestly, and this is pre-playoffs and whatever next season brings but I have some expectations and we’ll see where my play is and what that means for me in terms of a resign with Vancouver. As for San Diego it’s much the same, we don’t work on contracts specifically, something I don’t necessarily agree with but in terms of how I feel, I’d like to use the end of this season and all of next season to get myself in a position to maybe see what GM roles are out there come season 76.” Mentions: @Beketov @STZ @Ricer13 @InstantRockstar @Berocka @Victor @DragonFire420 @SilverMike @Prout
