  6. for claims: @jacobcarson877 700+ words @InstantRockstar gorgeous graphic
  7. Graphic by: @InstantRockstar Hello everyone! As the dust settles from the trade deadline and teams are beginning their final pushes up and down the standings, there is a lot for us to talk about. Although there wasn’t a lot of volume trade-wise, there were some very notable moves that may require a bit more analysis before they make a lot of sense. First off is a bit of a boring one. Our first trade since September 4th. A pick trade even! Everyone’s favourite. Warsaw pulls out of this season’s first round and into next season’s, swapping places with Calgary. A very even deal in my opinion at this stage, obviously we don’t know who is going to be picked with these picks, or what assets they may be used to acquire down the line. But for now, a top team this season, swapping with what should be a top team next season. Calgary Receives: S86 WAR 1st Warsaw Receives: S87 CGY 1st Our second trade is where it starts to get interesting. We should all know by now the situation in Helsinki this season. And for better or for worse, it makes the most sense to ship out the current squad and start fresh. As promising as they were, it is obvious that management had lost the support of the old guard, losing many to free agency, and with their trade deadline this season, they should be primed to start from scratch. Helsinki moves on from their younger VHL talent, and acquiring some players that should be joining the ranks in a few seasons. Malmo accelerates their rise to contention, and Helsinki smartly pushes theirs back. Notably, Helsinki also grabs 3 defensive prospects, a position they are notably lacking in. Helsinki Receives: Doug Britton - @Doug Britton Reid Johnson - @TopTiddee2 Tater Tottingham - @Trunkxolotl S87 MAL 2nd Malmo Receives: Cobalt Burns - @Ledge Hammar Voss - @BOOM S87 HSK 4th Here we have our biggest trade of the deadline. Once again involving Helsinki, and definitely their largest asset at the time. This one needs a bit of a closer examination because it might be a tad bit confusing at first glance. First, we look at the big pieces. Booberry for Davis gives both teams a 1000+ TPA goaltender in net for the rest of the season. Cap hits the same, draft year the same. But the most important part of this deal, and the reason for all of the other shenanigans, is the contract length. Booberry has another season left, although for good reason likely wouldn’t extend beyond that. Davis’s contract ends this season, and may choose to test free agency this offseason. If Davis resigns, this is obviously a huge trade for Helsinki, locking up a top tier goaltender. However if he doesn’t they at least have some consolation that they got some pick upgrades and a sneaky prospect in Juan Sano III. I think for now this deal leans heavily towards Davos, but there is lots of room for Helsinki to get value. HC Davos Receives: Xavier Booberry - @CowboyinAmerica S86 LDN 3rd Helsinki Receives: David Davis - @Josh Juan Sano III - @denns S86 DCD 2nd S86 HSK 4th Our final trade of the deadline is a routine trade. An expiring asset for some return. Chicago adds a solid 6th forward to their lineup in their push for the playoffs, and Prague gets another prospect in their already incredible pool. Smart asset management by Prague, and definitely not an overpay by Chicago. Definitely not our most exciting deal of the deadline, but one that makes a lot of sense for both teams, and should hopefully help them both down the line. Prague Receives: Quinn Clark - @axtron Chicago Receives: Shane Lazeski - @Lazarus And thus ends our review of the Trade Deadline! Helsinki wiping the board clean, hoping to rebound from a disastrous season, at least in the eyes of the public. Malmo accelerating their rebuild, taking advantage of a shallower European Conference. Davos locking up one of the league’s best goaltenders, and with some term to match. Prague continuing to stockpile young talent, waiting to break out as a powerhouse in their own right. Chicago adding another useful forward to their lineup. Calgary and Warsaw helping to inflate my word count. That’s all she wrote folks! Thanks for tuning and keep an eye out for lots of exciting new VSN content soon!
