Heading into his final VHL season, Henry Eagles, has announced he will be testing the FA market.

"I don't know who will want an old fart like me but for any team looking for help to get the cup or even need that extra edge to push them into the playoffs, I can be that guy" Henry said during locker cleanout day " I am almost a career point per game player and teams can get about 35-40 goals out of me so I think the value is still there"

Henry decided to test FA in his final year as no other Eagles has ever gone to FA and he wanted to be the first.

"It can either be a interesting and fun process or it can be a early retirement if no interest out there, I guess we will find out once FA opens!"

Asked if he had any regrets from Malmo

"Definitely no regrets other then not winning the cup. Malmo deserved it this year after an outstanding season but it just wasn't in the cards. They are a top notch organization and just to clear things up as I don't want the media spreading rumors, me leaving for FA has nothing to do with the team. It is just something I wanted to test out in my career, I had a great conversation with the team and GM about this before the start of last season so that this was not a surprise"

The Toronto Legion are off to the conference finals for the second consecutive year.  Their hope is to once again capture the Continental Cup, defending their title from the season before.  The feat however won't be easy, facing a D.C. Dragons team with insane firepower.  They have 4 players shooting at over 12%.  The hopes for the Legion squad is that this shooting percentage isn't sustainable, and they will have to really focus on their defensive game to shut the Dragons down.  While goaltending has been solid throughout, as has the firepower of stars Mac Atlas and Jimi Jaks, the series is still looking to be a tight one.  The two squads face-off in two days, and both find themselves in interesting territory with most of the teams that were ahead of them in the standings now being eliminated.  Can Toronto really defend their title?  Management feels like its possible.  After an abysmal regular season where the motto was simply "as long as we make the playoffs anything can happen" the team has rallied around one another and really ramped things up in the playoffs - as they've proven they could all along.

I don't need any more TPE this week, but hello. I thought I'd get on the random thoughts train just because--I have things on my mind and I like putting them in nice places.

A week ago was my 5-year VHL anniversary. I still remember the day I joined. I was a super bored college freshman and scrolling through Reddit for way too long, putting off doing some assignment, and happened to come across the right post at the right time. I was a bit weirded out by the idea of talking to strangers and I had basically quit already when I got a couple emails that I'd been messaged ahead of the upcoming VHLM draft--sure, I welfared for a couple weeks at the start, but coming back on then was the reason why I stayed. That's why you scout people! Talking to some of you is weird. I'm a very different person than I was as an 18-year-old VHL noob, but the kids keep getting younger. I didn't think anything of it when I was 18 or 19 and learned that someone was 14 or 15--and I still don't really do that today, because I get that we'll get new kids all the time--but realizing last night that one of you was nine years old when I joined the league blew my mind a little bit.  I'm running another Town of Salem game, and sign-ups are open now! I'm not sure how clear it is that my games are open to everyone regardless of experience--and that those who have gained it are totally cool with you learning by playing. I do apologize if it's looked like an exclusive club to anyone on the outside, because that's never been the intent. People who have been accepted to my program will be visiting my campus in a week, and it gives me major VHL vibes in some ways. People a year below me generally know me and like me OK because I got involved in all the events to welcome them and I did my best as their TA last semester--and now I have the chance to positively affect a whole new year of people. We're fortunate enough to have a culture that encourages older students helping younger ones, and I hope that's something we do on this forum as well. But if you say we do, please either do it or get out. I don't have time for the fake stuff. Don't underestimate the depth of your relationships with friends. I'm OK, but I've had a lot going on in my head lately that's really weighed down on things and I recently decided to tell a couple people I trust about that. It's the first time I've ever made a point to sit down and do that with anyone and the ways I've been supported have been unreal--from things I didn't know existed being sent my way to a dysfunctionally communicative group chat randomly, magically, just so conveniently happening to suddenly have everyone available and willing to get together and have fun, I can tell that people I know actually care and that feels nice. Anyway, back to the VHL stuff. Vandelay had his last-ever disappointing playoff campaign and is now gone for good. Interestingly, Lazlo Holmes had a pretty solid end-of-year run with Halifax and I'll be interested in seeing what happens when next season rolls around. I still have no plans to have anything to do with the E, and I'm fully prepared to write about how I don't like the circumstances of that and be told I'm stupid for saying so for as long as long as it takes.

Everything else in here is your opinion, which you're allowed to have and is fine. Not going to push back on anything else other than this. There would never have been a league ban involved, only a TPE ban at most which is fairly standard for people caught using AI for their tasks. The punishment thread has a few of the recent ones to show that a TPE ban is standard there. If you pushed back with V.2, the head of PT who has been given jurisdiction on final say on tasks and punishments for breaking task rules, it would go to the mod team, aka Fong. Personally if you had proof of not using AI or some other sort of rebuttal, I don't see how V.2 wouldn't have taken it unless he simply disagreed with you.

Listen, detecting AI is never going to be definitive here - we're not going to get every decision right and we generally try to give people a window to explain to an Updater. That's why we have the denial PMs and are on Discord to chat as well. However, you even claim to use software that changes your sentences and words. That's stuff that might get triggered for AI input here, and seemingly did trigger one of the primary sites Updaters use, including a few others that I ran your original submission through. Others were not as high percentage, some were very low. I just don't know why these comments or proof wasn't brought up with whichever Updater you spoke with, or V.2 before it would ever need to get to mod appeal. At the least, I never saw any follow up comments from you passed on in the Updater chat.

Anything that goes through AI checkers and comes off as AI generated, yes. We've tossed in old staff member media spots and vhl.coms to see what the false positive rate is, and we feel fairly comfortable about avoiding false positives. However, we can't say the same for pieces that go through sites like Grammarly and get essentially rewritten. For graphics we usually ask to see layers if we're not comfortable with originality. Maybe media spot users will have to save their pre-Grammarly or whatever write-ups if they're going to go through those avenues that might get flagged. That way updaters can see that there was original content prior to the modification by the editing site. But again, this would only get triggered if your work contains elements of AI, which most completely original content doesn't get flagged for.

Dunno what this means, but surely we're not advocating for Updaters not to be checking tasks for compliance with guidelines right? We're not comparing Updaters to Big Brother? Don't think the rules for content are that harsh either. Hit the word count and keep it original. We don't want to have to look at every task through a fine tooth comb, but as we see submissions with AI elements pop up more frequently, its the community itself that forces the league to keep a closer eye out for infractions.

Tremendous graphic that really encapsulates the All Star theme. I love the meticulous details in the jersey changes, from the created all star logo, right down to the shoulder patches being the team emblems.  The colors work well and I like how you made the background split and match each conference.  My only knock on this is the font used for "Victory Hockey League", just personally not a fan of it and think something bolder would have looked nicer.  Overall you killed this seasons theme week amazing job!! 9.5/10

The only reason I say this is primarily, I will eventually go inactive. Likely due to IRL reasons. I've been there where I drafted a guy first overall and then he went IA on my ass in like 20 mins (@Zetterberg) however I forgive thee. Point is, I don't want to be that guy. I don't want the pressure of a top pick to loom on me. I don't want to be the main guy on the roster. I just wanna chill and have fun and update when I want and when I can. Between having a child and tending to my wife, I really won't care about the VHL nor should I. Draft me, plan my player out and use him to win if you can if not, use him to tank I suppose? Point is, I don't really give a shit. Just don't waste a high pick on this guy cause I'm warning you now, he's gonna be a shitty earning player

And if you're the GM who drafts me in the first round, I'm sorry lmao. You're a dumbass. Read this shit, I warned you fam. I'm going to be a disappointment. The rest of my build is probably going to be 99 Leadership if it was up to me.

v.2 reacted to Frank in Liv Slater Breaks Goals Record
Liv Slater has broken the regular season goal scoring record for defenders in the hybrid era (Seasons 83-Present) after she notched her 36th goal in Season 92.

    Season by season outlook:
    S83 - J. Reinhart 35G
    S84 - H. Markinson 33G
    S85 - H. Voss 26G
    S86 - M. Torq 30G
    S87 - H. Voss 33G
    S88 - H. Voss 26G
    S89 - S.V. Maloish 26G
    S90 - H. Voss / B. Kowalski 31G
    S91 - K. Kardashian 31G
    S92 - L. Slater 36G (2 games remaining)

Slater broke the record with 2 games remaining on the schedule. Liv currently has 83 points in 70 games which is tied for 2nd in defense scoring, despite Vancouver missing the playoffs she'll be a front runner for the Valiq trophy this off-season.

Valentine's Day. What a weird day. Glad that my partner doesn't give two shits about this day other than us having dinner together and watching whatever show we're binging. Grateful for that.  Funnest Valentine's i've ever had was years ago when I got invited to crash a 'Galentine's Day' dinner, ended up getting borderline blackout drunk and going home with the girl who invited me. Good shit.  Lattimer is pumped for the playoffs. Really pumped. Postseason hockey, postseason anything just means reasons to get amped up. I think we're going to make a run. Hit 30 goals for the 2nd straight season i think? I don't know what that means in any context other than I think I'm producing for the squads I play for and hope to continue that. For those who are looking for good gifts on Valentine's Day for your partners - don't do anything cheesy. I did that once before and I'm still embarrassed by buying some corny ass shit and I never even gave the person the thing I bought. Don't do it. Thought certainly counts, man keep tabs on any little thing your partner says that might be inspiration for a gift or experiential idea. I have found that people like getting surprised at work becuase it's a public display of affection, so flowers at an office is a good thing in my opinion. Especially if it's a teacher. Fuck i should have done this.

    1. We will be playing the New York Americans in a play-in series. We were 2-4 against them. What do we have to do to beat them? Just step our game up. We're capable. We're rested. We're ready. Our series win is fucking inevitable.
    2. Our captain Mac Atlas @v.2 scored his 200th goal in Legion blue for 10th all-time. In three more seasons, how many more can he score? he'll get to 300 goals for sure. Guy has a julio franco sized dong.
    3. Who will score our first goal of the playoffs? Lattimer. I'm going to announce my presence with authority and help us get off to a good start and support my team.
    4. With Evan Bihler playing so well, do you think he should start in net for the playoffs? Always ride the hot hand in hockey, always.
    5. Finish this Valentine's Day card: Roses are red, the Legion are blue... the americans suck donkey dick, and so do you
    6. Which teams do you think will make the next big trade in the NHL? I have no earthly idea, hopefully not the Capitals though.

    4. Yes! It's been a strange season for our goalies but both have had some super solid games.

v.2 reacted to pugsood in Lattimer's Thoughts on the season
Well damn, it's been quite a ride the past number of months for Steve Lattimer. I've had a chance to reflect on my latest series of experiences in the VHL and thought I'd share so that no one can read this but I can earn.

It was a rough and bumpy process transitioning from my last team to Toronto. The previous GM was frankly just not good to me, and despite his rash of excuses and insults, at the end of the day he acknowledged that he dropped the ball. It didn't make things any easier for me but at least he acknowledged that the experience wasn't a positive one and was gracious enough to fulfill my request to get traded, which i greatly appreciated, so water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned.  That experience led me to being connected to Toronto, and admittedly it's been a really really positive experience. Why? The reasons are many. Animal - he's been a heck of a communicator with me to help me earn and support my team. Granted it's not the level of Jansen, because he set the bar so high that I don't think anyone could meet it, but I think if you were to ask animal, he'd tell you that the partnership and relationship has worked. I've been more excited to contribute to a team than perhaps at any other time in my VHL journey. I now check the games every single day to see what our results are (the discord bot helps), and see how we've done, how Lattimer has done, etc. I now even check the Legion locker room because there's active dialogue about our results and where we are in the standings, what's coming up on the schedule, etc. I really care about what's going on and feel like Steve Lattimer is part of something. I want this team to win and I want Lattimer to help them do that. Even going into the playoffs, I have a better grip of where we are and who we need to leapfrog in order to better situate ourselves. Once upon a time I wouldn't even have a clue if we were currently in the middle of the season or out of season or nearing any sort of deadline, playoffs, etc.  I'm basically much more 'active' even if I overall don't earn as much as I once did (again this is really just Jansen having been so ungodly effective in making/helping me earn, including doing trivia every single week.
All in all I'm very excited to be a part of Toronto, and while I have no idea what Lattimer's future is with the franchise, I can say confidently that it's been a great experience and one I'm grateful to have had.

Moving forward, I'll be continuing to earn and staying active with animal and being in the discord (case in point, I normally don't even really look at the discord locker rooms of other teams). Here's to hoping Toronto can make a run this season! Excited.

    Official Announcement

On Monday February 5th Molly the Cat’s agent submitted the official resignation of Molly the Cat to London United front offices. It was a sad moment but one that Molly the Cat knew must happen.

Molly the Cat had these words:

I want to start by thanking the organization for putting their trust in me. Being made captain in my rookie year was a huge honor, one I took very seriously and hope that I lived up to. I want to thank the various players that I have had the chance to play with, learn from and grow with. There were so many great individuals who taught me so much about hockey, and myself. I could never list them all here. I will never forget them, and I expect our friendship to continue for years to come.

To the fans of London United, thank you for your constant support. Please keep cheering the team, encouraging them, celebrating with them. As players we strive each day to be our best for you, to be worthy of the team’s name and to bring the championship to the city and the fans we play for. It was an amazing honor to bring the Continental Cup to London during my captaincy and our goal is to do it this year as well.

I know that I must say goodbye, but I also know the team is well cared for. I like you, will be a lifetime fan of the London United. I get to join your voices, join in your hope, to see the Continental Cup once again be paraded down the streets of London.

We are London, We are United.
