  1. I will work hard to make @gorlabwant to lick Dawson
  2. I never want to be on opposite sides again after this tournament.
  3. 1. I'm excited! I feel like this is an opportunity to really embrace a leadership role on the team. Hopefully I'll be able to assist in building an awesome community and help out where I can. 2. Going with Team World! I was disappointed to miss the cut for Canada but I have to support my team. 3. Perry, and not for meme reasons this time. Dawson and Perry seemed to have great chemistry on the ice that always impacted the results when together. 4. Very! I'm excited that you're getting a shot, tina. We have a good little group and this season is going to be about starting to build towards that "top of the mountain" 5. Absolutely. 6. I'm watching Ted Lasso right now so I'll pencil in Jason Sudeikis for now.
  4. Friday draft day!!!!!!! (I'm going to be drunk)
  5. Worth every penny. Also accepting applications for the Church of Toast. Thank you @McWolf!
  6. 9/10 great stuff! This is good for people like me who aren't aware of the situations VHL teams are in at the moment. Small capitalization stuff gets to me but it's an effective quick article with good info!
  7. 10/10 while I kindly disagree that my stock should be dropping, this was very well written and formatted. I like the use of a different colour for player names and bolding for the pick. Only suggestion I have is very minor but maybe adding in team banners to break up the text? Would've been difficult with how quickly the order is changing though! Nice work.
  8. Dawson Gets Call to Team World In a quiet off-season, Phoenix Dawson says he was surprised by the invitation to join Team World at the WJC Miami, FL -- Unfortunately for Phoenix Dawson, his two goals in four games was not enough help to prevent the Miami Marauders from being swept out of the first round of the VHLM playoffs. With a long wait ahead to the VHL Entry Draft, Dawson was surprised by a call from Team World to represent the team at the World Juniors. "I was surprised," said Dawson to media prior to a flight to join the rest of the team. "I figured that I still have some of my game to find before I'll be representing Canada at future world cups, but I really thought that I was going to be sitting this one out." Dawson will be joining Team World as their third line center. On paper, it seems that the team made up of players who were not successful in being called to their home nations stand a fair shot at having some of the games closer than some may be expecting. Despite the early elimination for Miami in the playoffs, Dawson has been still practicing on the ice with some of his fellow season 76 prospects for the VHL scouts and he believes this is helping him improve his game. "I'm happy with my first year in Miami," said Dawson. "I know that I still have a lot to grow into if I want to be more of a defensive player and I have been working hard at that. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised with me in the tournament. I really feel like I'm getting onto a new level." Dawson has shown a surprising level of dedication through his rookie season after initial scouting reports seemed to doubt the hype as the player was picked up by the Toast player agency. Despite this, his draft stock appears to be falling as mock drafts state that other prospects have been more exciting or show more promise. "I'm trying to keep my focus on the tournament," said Dawson. "I know that I have a lot to give any VHL team that will call my name at the Entry Draft and I know that I'm going to be one of the best players that comes out of this class. If there are teams that aren't seeing that, then it'll be them who regrets it down the road." Dawson joins a strong center crop on Team World including the first overall pick of the S75 Entry Draft in Pistil Stamen, who arguably may be the best player in the tournament. This kind of experience on Team World has Dawson excited for the opportunity. "I have the chance to play on the ice with guys who have played in the VHL," said Dawson. "My goal is to make an impact in the VHL and if I can go out here and show that I have what it takes to keep up with these players, then I hope that everyone else will see what I have to offer them."
  9. With the off-season officially begun and the trades starting to flood the forums, that means that that Entry Draft is just around the corner! I am hyped going into this one because I really think that I am going to create my best player in Phoenix Dawson. I retired early with my first couple players and the Kopralkovs were where the tires came off the vehicle. I really think that I am back into this league and I'm looking forward to finding out where my permanent home is going to be. I've had a few general managers reach out to me and I've connected well with a couple over some Discord chats and I'm looking forward to seeing if I'll end up at those picks. Some teams have also sent out massive lists of questions which I understand why they do it, but it really takes the fun out of the scouting from the player perspective I feel. The questions can read off as copy/paste to all prospects and it sucks when you pour a media spot worth of text into one to not hear back. I'm aware it's asking for a lot to have general managers personalize this for everyone but maybe conversations through Discord would be more personal? Regardless, I appreciate being contacted by teams and can't wait to see how everything plays out
  10. Sorry @thadthrasher, @JigglyGumballsis the new best WJC GM. WORLDWIDE!
  11. 1. I'm going with Mexico in 6 games. Both teams are solid but I was more impressed with the offense Mexico was pulling off. 2. No. While I do feel like I have a lot to offer if given the opportunity, I had my time in the spotlight. Time for the new generation to get their shot. 3. It'd be fun to have another run with Riga! 4. Correct trivia answers Overall though our locker room is fine. The channels are laid out in an easy-to-navigate fashion. It's just going to be about finding new friends next season. 5. I've always been a fan of how Vegas plays. I think it's between them and Colorado. 6. Everyone hating on Anaheim, watch for them to sneak into the playoffs.
  12. 10/10 I said my thanks in the locker room already but I appreciate the nice words here! This group is the reason I'm even remotely successful with this new guy and I appreciate being part of the squad. This was a lovely write-up. I'm not a big fan of the red text but I'm just nit-picking.
  13. 10/10 congrats on the solid tenure IR! You've been around for as long as I've been doing this stuff and you seem to have built a solid resume here for your GM skills. This was well written and it was nice to see you tag each member for the run-through on draft successes.
  14. Coming back to the VHL, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I had a couple recent recreates that did not fare well whatsoever and was looking at this attempt at coming back to the league as possibly my last attempt. I certainly didn’t expect that I would end up in a solid locker room and develop a new friendship instead of falling back on bonds built years ago. Phoenix was selected very late in the draft by the Marauders and with them coming off a championship win, I knew that I was going to have to put in the work to stay interested and earn a good spot in the line-up. In new locker rooms I generally am a quiet person until I get the vibe and go from there. Fortunately enough early in the season, I was included in some of the light-hearted joking that constantly goes on in there by a great member, tina. Funnily enough Phoenix was finding some solid chemistry on the ice as well with Nathan Perry and it would all go from there. Perry and Phoenix became solid parts of any forward line and there would be some shuffling seen throughout the season. It was always a big event when Perry and Phoenix got put back on the same line and I’m glad that we were able to play our last VHLM games together on the same line. There was a lot of shuffling through the season but we always knew things would immediately click when our players were paired together. Perry was a force for the Marauders regardless of tina’s line and ended up with over a point-per-game at 36 goals and 78 points. Phoenix, being a rookie in the VHLM, didn’t do as great with his 11 goals and 46 points but that is still a solid output for any player. It would take more work than I’m willing to put in to look specifically at the points that came from our players when we were on the same line, but the offense always seemed to get an uptick whenever we would be put together. I’m thankful that I was able to get to know someone like tina in my first season and give some of the credit to keeping me around with this recreate because of the fun locker room. While the result may not have gone the way that we would’ve liked, that’s perfectly fine. We’ll always have some good memories of this season in the Miami locker room. Hopefully we’ll be able to reunite somewhere down the road in the VHL (no pressure, London)! The key to success for the VHLM is always to build an encouraging environment and I feel that Miami struck gold here being able to get tina so late in the draft. Our jokes and the bond created in the locker room is always something that I will look back on fondly and when Phoenix is inducted into the Hall of Fame, I hope tina will be there for my induction speech. @tinafrombobsburgers
  15. With a sweep at the hands of San Diego, Miami finds themselves in an interesting position. Going into the next season, it’s anticipated that Miami will be focusing on rebuilding to get them back to the level of a cup contender. Right now the roster is looking a little weak with a lot of the roster moving on to the VHL. Miami used a lot of future picks to bring in top-level talent and may be waiting a couple of seasons before they have another crack at the Founder’s Cup. One of the bright spots on the team is their 77th-overall pick in the S75 Dispersal Draft, Phoenix Dawson. Developing into a top line center for the team has been a blessing as they now have a piece that can support any steals from the upcoming draft or to be moved for picks in the future as it’s likely Dawson will go to his pro team following S76. “I am happy to be part of this team,” said Dawson. “I know that a lot will be expected of me and it may not be the best season, but I will do whatever I can to help us on the ice or for the team’s future.”
  16. Excited to be joining New York!
  17. Happy New Year press conference thread! 1) Still bitter. I thought we were going to have a bigger run and it sucks to go out so quickly. I'm sad some good friends are moving on but I look forward to the future. 2) Mexico City has a ton of offensive upside so I see them winning the Final. 3) No, I look forward to helping usher in the next era. Dawson should be capped by the time the season starts so I'm looking forward to the points! 4) Defense and skating to make sure I'm the best I can be on the ice. 5) Tina 6) Tina
  18. Hi VHL, this week has really flown by and I wanted to use my .com spot just to say how blown away I am by the holiday festivities here. To see a community come together and do so much during a difficult year for a lot of people is inspiring and I'm happy that I was able to be part of this. When I came back to the VHL, I wasn't sure if this player was going to be another dud in the attempts to come back but I was determined to give it one more shot and I'm glad I did. The community here has grown and the Discord seems top have only done wonders for the activity here as well. Working from home now I do have more time to keep checking in on the league and making sure that I get my tasks done, but I truly believe that this is the first time that I've been fully invested in the league again since the early S50s. Really, all I wanted to say is that I'm excited to be back and involved here and to see so many people contributing throughout the holiday drive was fantastic. I hope everyone had a good holiday and all the best in the new year. See you around the forum/Discords.
